A few little sketches of some possible school uniforms for mage schools/learning centers for magic/etc. :0c Though because Nanyevimi is so scattered and disconnected, it'd actually vary much more by region (like not everywhere would have a cultural concept of what a suit jacket or neck tie looks like lol), so it's probably unrealistic for so many of them to follow too many traditional Uniform Conventions from cultures in our world, etc. But, still, fun to mess around with designs, and think about which would be most fun to wear/what school you'd go to just based off the clothing lol~

I Should Dress That Way #I used to go to thrift stores and find multiple seperate pieces that could be combined together to look like a school uniform #I had like 4 or 5 different 'uniforms' that I made myself in that way. My first outfit that I was ever allowed #to pick out for myself as my big First Day Of Middle School outfit was literally like school uniform inspired #(maybe mixed with a little goth.. like it was a school uniform sort of look but black and white with fishnet armwarmers lol.. plaid + #stripes pattern mixing my beloved... ) #I think it's just the same way that I love apartment buildings because I'm infinitely fascinated with like.. observing human nature and peo #le displaying their psersonalities in little ways and how you can give 10 people the same exact identical space but each one will decorate #it completely differently just depending on their own tastes and reasonnig and etc. I love the idea of everyone in some setting #having to be in one specific set outfit BUT you can tell something about them by the little ways they customize it or what type #of accessories they wear or if they choose to button their shirt fully or not or etc. etc. I like the constraints of 'okay everyone has to #be in exactly the same uniform - NOW. give them their own unique style somehow despite this' etc. etc. like #yaaaayyyy.. I love thinking of little obscure details that convey personality. they have a little pin hidden on the inside of their #hat. their shoes are just like everyone else's but more worn out. they have a necklace barely visible beneath their collar. their tie is #always a little more askew that everyone elses. or even. the uniform is EXACTLY on model entirely clean crisp pristine not a single element #customized or out of place - which STILL tells you something about them. etc. etc. #ANYWAY.. yeahg.. struggling to get anything done these last few weeks so.. blam. poof. alakazaam. scratchy little sketches #of nothing very productive or relating to any other project in particular be upon ye

Had an edible for the first time on Friday. I got scared but it was like roller coaster scared so I had a pretty good time. I'll probably do it again in a couple weeks.

#I already think I'm sorta susceptible to delusions so getting them while high wasn't a surprise. I was with a friend too so it went well #Something about the combination of my vision getting fucky (ceiling was moving away and floor was getting close) and an extremely vivid #feeling of falling and a feeling like a weight was pressing me to the floor as hard possible had me nearly convinced I was shrinking #First drop lasted like 15 minutes maybe and then stopped for 20 minutes so I was at least sorta spared and could get up and be coherent and #such. We kept a tally and it happened like 9 times apparently over the course of 4 to 5 hours. #There was a lasting paranoia afterwards until like 9 pm the next day where I couldn't look up or I'd convince myself the ceiling was gettin #farther again. Had to find a tape measure to keep myself feeling okay. #I know this all sounds scary but I genuinely had a really good time. My friend teased and comforted me about it. It was cute. #Would've been terrible if I did that alone though. I would have just been scared with no fun at all.

Writing tips for long fics that helped me that no one asked for.

1.) Don't actually delete content from your WIP unless it is minor editing - instead cut it and put it in a secondary document. If you're omitting paragraphs of content, dialog, a whole scene you might find a better place for it later and having it readily available can really save time. Sometimes your idea was fantastic, but it just wasn't in the right spot.

2.) Stuck with wording the action? Just write the dialog then revisit it later.

3.) Stuck on the whole scene? Skip it and write the next one.

4.) Write on literally any other color than a white background. It just works. (I use black)

5.) If you have a beta, while they are beta-ing have them read your fic out loud. Yes, I know a lot of betas/writers do not have the luxury of face-timing or have the opportunity to do this due to time constraints etc but reading your fic out loud can catch some very awkward phrasing that otherwise might be missed. If you don't have a beta, you read it out loud to yourself. Throw some passion into your dialog, you might find a better way to word it if it sounds stuffy or weird.

6.) The moment you have an idea, write it down. If you don't have paper or a pen, EMAIL it to yourself or put it in a draft etc etc. I have sent myself dozens of ideas while laying down before sleep that I 10/10 forgot the next morning but had emailed them to myself and got to implement them.

7.) Remember - hits/likes/kudos/comments are not reflective of the quality of your fic or your ability to write. Most people just don't comment - even if they say they do, they don't, even if they preach all day about commenting, they don't, even if they are a very popular blog that passionately reminds people to comment - they don't comment (I know this personally). Even if your fic brought tears to their eyes and it haunted them for weeks and they printed it out and sent it to their friends they just don't comment. You just have to accept it. That being said - comment on the fic you're reading now, just do it, if you're 'shy' and that's why you don't comment the more you comment the better you'll get at it. Just do it.

8.) Remove unrealistic daily word count goals from your routine. I've seen people stress 1500 - 2000 words a day and if they don't reach that they feel like a failure and they get discouraged. This is ridiculous. Write when you can, but remove absurd goals. My average is 500 words a day in combination with a 40 hour a week job and I have written over 200k words from 2022-2023.

9.) There are dozens of ways to do an outline from precise analytical deconstruction that goes scene by scene to the minimalist bullet point list - it doesn't matter which one you use just have some sort of direction. A partial outline is better than no outline.

10.) Write for yourself, not for others. Write the fic you know no one is going to read. Write the fic that sounds ridiculous. You will be so happy you put it out in the world and there will be people who will be glad it exists.

(Light spoilers for act 3 of Hardspace Shipbreaker)

The story in Hardspace Shipbreaker is focused on unions/labor rights, and I was really curious how they were going to handle the conflict of, like... in-universe, you're doing extremely dangerous work under unethical conditions to try and pull yourself out of deep debt; but as a player, the "work" is the extremely fun and satisfying gameplay. So at some point the devs have to face a game design problem: squaring the story they want to tell with not stopping the player from experiencing the fun part of the game. And I really liked how they did it! They managed to meet both goals by telling the player to just absolutely destroy a ship - giving them something fun to do, a slightly different problem to solve that (probably) wasn't something they would have done in normal gameplay, as well as being a good in-universe justification (a work slowdown, destroying profits, showing solidarity). I haven't been totally enamoured with the story in the game - I'm into the themes, but the writing is a little clunky and the scenes tend to slow down the pace of the game - and I thought they might just have the workers go on strike, which would be thematically appropriate but kind of a bummer in terms of gameplay. It was a pretty clever way to solve that conflict.

guess who’s finally gonna really try so super hard to learn how to drive :)

#I have my permit for the 2nd time & I am DETERMINED this time man #First I had a learners permit in highschool at 17 #I was in a god awful place mentally. A combination of suicidal ideation & intrusive thoughts about crashing kinda made me give up learning #Then I got a motorcycle permit to try and drive a motor scooter #But the safety course was like “hey btw most of the danger comes from cars not paying enough attention to you & you can’t do shit about it! #So I got massive anxiety about it and could only drive on small back roads. + motorcycles feel So Much Faster which made the anxiety worse #I ended up letting that permit expire too #Now I’m finally at a point where I’m not super busy and have less car anxiety and WAAAAYYY less depression #My suicidal ideation is gone & my intrusive thoughts don’t affect me nearly as much #And recently I got more free time for a little while so I studied for the class C permit test again & a couple days ago I passed :) #And today I drove a car for the first time in like 5 years & it was ok! #I have like 25 days till classes start & not really much of anything on the schedule until then #So I’m gonna try my best to practice a decent amount this month & hopefully get a behind the wheels lesson in from a good instructor #And hopefully should be comfy enough to drive to & from school with my dad in the car #I have classes 4 days a week so that’ll be guaranteed practice on some bigger roads #There’s also a few ways to get there so I can start w the route that’s 70% small road and work my way up to practice big roads & freeways #Trying my very hardest to beat the Can’t Drive Gay accusations
