Sony Announces Animated Feature from Amphibia, Steven Universe Creators
Matt Braly, a storyboard artist from “Gravity Falls” and Sony Animation’s own “The Mitchells vs. the Machines,” makes the leap from successful showrunner to feature film director, according to a Braly tweet on Dec. 14, 2023.
The script, written with Adventure Time alum/Steven Universe creator Rebecca Sugar, references Braly’s “own cultural background and personal history,” Variety reports.
“The film tells the story of a young boy who goes on an emotional journey to a fantastical world of Thai spirits where he hopes to have his illness cured.”
can you tell i have a lot of thoughts about this movie
[ID: ID: Various sketches of characters from Nimona. From clockwise, top to bottom: A sketch of Ballister and Ambrosius’ swords, with blue forget-me-not flowers around them. im at my fucking limit oh my god atreus running to kratos to hug him after freeing garm and kratos hugging him back and then letting go and then realizing atreus ISNT letting go and NEEDS comfort and continuing to hug him and asking him what happened and not getting mad or impatient and just letting him know he’s there for him and even as EVERYONE berates him for freeing garm kratos steps in and defends him because he understands how unbearably COMPASSIONATE his son is even for an evil hellhound and telling him they’ll fix this together and how he’s not angry and is only happy that he’s safe and and and and and AND AND-
Nah I feel like some of y’all are getting this so wrong. I don’t think it’s correct to say that “earth 42 miles was supposed to be spider man” and “our miles is supposed to be prowler” it’s literally they could’ve been either or none at all. The fact that they “swapped places” shows that. We can’t all for sure say that if our miles wasn’t bitten he would’ve been prowler. It’s possible, but we have no way of knowing. But that’s also like the whole point right? Miles is fighting against the idea of a canon event and a predestined path, which aligns with the idea of the potential to be either prowler or spider man or neither. If the first movie was “anyone can wear the mask” then this movie is “what happens when people don’t believe you should” and saying that there’s a strict order everyone and everything has to follow. We got to allow some flexibility, unpredictability, and wiggle room here. It’s all about the butterfly effect people. Anything can happen.
Couldn't help but grab n' splice this from the episode. I tried to preserve the build-up as much as possible, so the beginning has some dialogue, but this is just until we get the soundtrack so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
“I liked the Morbius movie because it was campy.”
People who have read the comics: “Oh boy do we have news for you.”
The movie was not camp. The movie tried to boil out the camp. Only Matt Smith realized that Morbius was supposed to be fun. Everyone else seemed to think they were making The Crow with fangs. 616 Morbius would have been laying on the floor of his lab after the boat scene crying until he got hungry enough and ate three random people nearby. Then he’d lay down and cry some more. Then if it was anything like the 70′s comics either someone in a leotard would beat him up or a cult would come in and drag him out by his feet to offer him to some sort of giant demon. Then he’d try curing himself through work but a werewolf would chew up his notes. He starts to make some progress when suddenly the whole staff of his lab starts turning into zombies, or the Fantastic Four have to contact him and interrupt his work because they need to know what chants the cult used, BTW at this point the werewolf has just moved in with him and ACTUAL vampires have started pranking his office and spray-painting ‘poser’ on his walls. To deal with the vampires he befriends a frickin sorcerer.
No, seriously, this is how his comics work. Morbius stories are a formula that always begin with ‘Terrible thing happens to Morbius’ and after he’s done complaining about it he goes about trying to fix it in a way that is so much worse when it blows up on him. The worst crime the movie did is make him competent and able to magically handle every problem in the plot.
