#commander fox being an older brother

No no. You don’t understand. I need expansion on Rex being ori’vod to the most problematic cc batch. Pls. I need it for medical reasons. 💕😘
Ahahah I just had a video about the clone ages come up, and got reminded of the fact that Rex is a Generation 1 clone...like, there's an actual possibility that he is either a) the same age as the CC batch (he and Cody have the same birth year listed at the very least) or b) he might actually be older than them or at least some of them. I couldn't find when Fox was born, unlike with Rex (his birth year was listed as 32 BBY, whereas Fox was only given that he was sent out approximately a decade into the cloning project), so my mind immediately went with "there's nothing in canon that says that Rex is younger than Fox". And because to me Fox is the batch baby, this made him Even More Baby, lmao.
Just imagine being Fox, thinking that you've finally gotten a vod'ika, because Cody keeps bringing up the CT all the time. Only for the CT to turn out to be older than you, and because everybody in the batch is propping him up, he has absolutely no respect for you. Everybody thinks it's hilarous, actually. Rex is elated (and gets his first rush of Ori'vod feelings). Fox is definitely not elated.
They might have some sort of truce going on, like "when we are in the public, please refrain from doing anything that will expose me" but in the private? It's gloves off. Rex wrangles Skywalker all day every day. The crumpy Commander is nothing to him. They have a battle of wills every time where they both revise the rule books about whether or not it is allowed for Fox to go to sleep. Rex wins a lot. The story doesn't tell if he wins by switching the battlemode to wrestling but he wins a lot anyway.
Now, Fox might go and get his hands on the decanting records on Kamino. Don't ask. Rex may or may not have been taken out off his tube a liiittle bit earlier than some other members of the batch. He just might.

Part 1
Y/n pov
You thanked the people who moved your stuff to your new house in the middle of a forest because you like nature, and the way to town is also very easy for you, so you don't have to worry about that. Now you have to organize your stuff that has been put in your living room, but your phone rang while you opened the box, so you decided to answer and put on a loud speaker to make the job easy for you.
" Babe, are you at your new house now? " Your older brother's voice echoed around the house, and you grimaced at the loud sound.
" Bro, don't shout on the phone if you don't want Y/n to go deaf because of you " San Oppa said, scolding your brother.
" Hello Oppa and Sannie, I'm already at my new house, and now I want to organize my stuff " You chuckle at both of them.
" I would help my baby clean her new house, but unfortunately, I have my stupid practice right now " Wooyoung Oppa grumbled on the other side, and you know that he was already pouting right now.
" Oppa, it's ok. I understand you're busy with the new comeback, and I can manage it myself. I have to start being an independent girl if I want to live alone " You tell him this while opening the box full of decorations for your living room.
A sniffle can be heard from the other line.
" One day you don't need me anymore " Wooyoung Oppa whined at you.
San Oppa slapped his forehead at Wooyoung Oppa's words for you, and you only giggled at Wooyoung Oppa for being a dramatic brother.
" Guys, let's practice now " Hongjoong Oppa's voice can be heard in the background.
Both of the males let out a groan at Hongjoong Oppa's command for them about their practice.
" Baby, I need to hang up now, and I will call you back later " Wooyoung Oppa says.
" Okay, bye, Oppa " Both of you are saying goodbye to each other.
You continue to organize the house like you want for the whole day without taking a rest, and if Wooyoung Oppa knew about this, he would scold you non-stop like an old lady for a few hours.
{Time Skip}
Early in the morning, you wash all the laundry you have in a basket and hang the laundry outside of your courtyard. The sunlight shines on your face and makes your face glow at the same time. Without your notice, one pair of red eyes is staring directly at your figure from behind the bush and intensely staring at you. You clap your hands when the task is done before you get inside your house to prepare yourself a breakfast, and you also decide to do a mini concert in your kitchen.
You dance to wave by ATEEZ until the song finishes, and you still continue dancing while singing until you forget about the food at the countertop. The same eyes still stare at you, who is dancing like a crazy woman in the kitchen with an excited look, but you finally stop dancing to eat your food that has already cooled down. The eyes also decide to stop staring at you before retreating to somewhere else. You peacefully eat your food while looking outside when suddenly you notice a house not far away from your new house.
' Good, I have a new neighbour now '
You thought, and you carefully observed the house that looked empty without a single soul in it.
" Maybe they go out, I better go greet them after they come back " You mumble to yourself.
You clean the plate you use to eat and continue to clean the house that you didn't get to do yesterday due to your tiredness and laziness.

Y/n was resting on her couch while watching K-dramas when the bell rang, indicating someone at Y/n's door, so Y/n decided to check who came to visit her this late afternoon. Y/n opened the door of her house only to meet a very attractive male with a sharp jawline and a pair of fox-like eyes who gave her a big smile.
" Erm... What can I help you with, Mr? " Y/n ask the question to that male.
" Ooh, I just came to say hi because you are now our neighbour. I live at that house with my brothers " He explained to Y/n while showing up at the house that it was not far from her house.
" By the way, my name is Yang Jeongin " Jeongin extended his hand at Y/n to shake.
Y/n shake hands with Jeongin.
" Jung Y/n " Y/n says her name to Jeongin.
" Welcome to this neighbourhood " Jeongin utters while smiling at the girl in front of him.
" Thank you, Jeongin - ssi " Y/n bows her body at him with a full expression of respect.
After that, Jeongin excuses himself, and Y/n goes back inside the house to continue her dramas. Jeongin enters the house while happily humming a song on his way inside, and someone peeks through the wall when Jeongin gets inside the house.
" Where did you go, Innie? " Bang Chan questions Jeongin with furrow brows.
" I greet the new neighbour " Jeongin enters the living room, where everyone is.
" The neighbour?? That house?? " Changbin showed at Y/n's house towards Jeongin, and the male nodded at Changbin's question.
" Male or female? " Felix asked.
" A very beautiful female " Jeongin answered with a grin on his face.
Everyone's ears perked up at Jeongin's information.
" That's why you look happy " Minho said while raising one of his eyebrows at the younger male.
" She looks so unreal, if you don't believe me, and her smell is also very nice " Jeongin tells the others about their new neighbor.
" When you see her, you will have feelings to not scare her out " Jeongin said to the others while eyeing them.
The others made calm faces when Jeongin eyed them all.
On the next day,
Y/n left her house to go buy something in town, so she drove her car to town, and in 25 minutes she arrived at her destination with a long list in her hand to find or buy her stuff. After almost two hours, Y/n bought the things she needed, and now she wants to return to her house, but suddenly the rain started pouring, so Y/n didn't have another choice but to run somewhere that could protect her from the rain, and Y/n found a place to stay for a while until the rain stopped.
Someone came out from the shop that Y/n took as shelter, and that person let out a soft gasp, not because of the rain but from the visual in front of him, and Y/n turned around to look around her and meet with that person's eyes. Both of them made eye contact before Y/n bowed her head at him, and Y/n's wet hair got in her way, so that person offered the handkerchief to Y/n.
" Use this, you will get sick soon " He told her.
Y/n shyly accept a handkerchief from that person.
" I'm Hwang Hyunjin " Hyunjin finally introduces himself at Y/n.
" I'm Jung Y/n, and thanks for this " Y/n told him while showing the handkerchief in her hand.
Both of them start having a conversation, and both of them look shocked when they learn that they are neighbours, and Hyunjin looks so happy to know that Y/n is the beautiful girl Jeongin talked about.

Hyunjin pov
I saw my beautiful angel already waking up from her sleep, and she got ready to start her day while I got my sketchbook to draw her gorgeous features from my room. I kept taking a look at her while I drew her, and I felt so close to her when I sketched for her without her knowing that. At first, when Jeongin told us about her, no one believed what he told us, but after I saw her myself on that rainy day, I immediately regretted not listening to the information Jeongin gave us, and Jeongin's words were true about Y/n smells when I carefully sniffed her smells.
She has a refreshing and calm smell of lavender and strawberry in her body that naturally comes out of herself. I also admit that I like her present from that house after I meet with her because I can always see her from far away or sketch her figure if I feel bored and don't know what to draw. Someone knocked at my door, and Jeongin's head peeked inside my room.
" Hyung " Jeongin approaches me.
" Hmm " I only humming as I responded to him.
" What did you draw? " When Jeongin saw my drawing, he let out an audible gasp.
" How did you know her? " Jeongin asked me.
" I met her in front of the art shop after she tried to find a shelter to avoid the rain " I simply replied to him.
" You're right about her, Innie " I look up at Jeongin's face with a gentle smile on my lips.
Jeongin sits down in front of me in another chair with an excited expression plastered on his face.
" I know, she's the most amazing girl that I've ever met " Jeongin said, closing his eyes for a moment.
" How do you think she will react when she knows about our true selves? " Jeongin made eye contact with me.
" Honestly, I don't know, maybe she will be scared of us or don't believe in us " I shrugged my shoulders with a nonchalant face.
Jeongin went quiet for a while and lost himself in his own thoughts while I continued my drawing that had been disturbed by him.
The next day,
We all quietly eat our breakfast when someone knocks twice at our house door, and we all already knew who was at the door. Seungmin opens the door before a group of males enters our house.
" Hey guys, any news?? " Chan Hyung shakes hands with them.
" Chan, some wolves have already entered your territory without your knowledge " Namjoon Hyung tells us.
" Now we knew about this because some of our people saw an unknowing wolf hide behind the bush of that house " Jungkook Hyung showed us at Y/n house.
Jeongin and my breath hitched with the new information they told us. The others looked at us with a curious face.
" Why would the wolf hide in there? " Felix questions them.
" We still tried to get the info about that, I know that house has a girl living there alone. We need to stay alert because the wolf might attack that house without our knowledge " Yoongi Hyung warns us.
" Alright, we need to always watch her house in case something happens to her " Chan Hyung said, gaining our attention.
" Yes, pack alpha " We said together at Chan Hyung full of respect for him.
" You all also need to be careful " Seokjin Hyung tells us.
We all nodded at him with a serious face.
{Time Skip}
I left my sketchbook on the sofa and went to the kitchen to grab a glass of water, and when I got back, I saw Jisung flip through my drawing book, which was full of Y/n sketches with an unreadable face, so I tapped his shoulder to let him know that I'm here with him.
"  Are you alright? " I ask him.
" You look like you just saw a ghost " I continue.
Jisung showed me the portrait of Y/n with wide eyes.
" Is this woman a ghost? " Jisung's eyes go wide with his words.
" Nope " I reply while taking back my sketchbook from him.
" Then?? Who's she? " Jisung sat on the sofa opposite me.
" She is the neighbour that Jeongin told us about, I saw her outside of the art shop " I nonchalantly answered him.
Jisung froze in his seat before he got up suddenly.
" No way " He mumbled.
I look at him with a raised eyebrow.
" She's looking so unreal " Jisung said with a smile.
" What're you thinking about? Don't do crazy things, Han " I narrow my eyes at him.
Sometimes Jisung can do something out of his mind if he wants to.
" I wanted to meet her " Jisung said, jumping from his seat.
I gave him a serious stare and made him shriek in his place.
" W- what?? " Jisung is shuttering while avoiding looking at my face.
" Are you insane or what? Right now is the middle of the night, and you want to meet her at this hour? " I deadpan look at the dumb guy.
Jisung thought for a moment before sheepishly smiling at himself.
" Dumbest " I mumbled, but Jisung heard what I said.
Jisung attacked me with his tickles, and both of us laughed until Minho hyung scolded us for being loud.

Y/n got out from her house to take some fresh air outside until she heard a noise from a bush not far from her house.
" What's that? " Y/n whispers to herself with a scared face.
Y/n braved herself to check what was in the bush when that thing suddenly came out and made her scream so loud until Hyunjin and Jisung heard her scream. Both of the males went to her house and saw Kkami licking Y/n face while the girl was on the floor with a laugh, and both of them only blink their eyes at what they saw now. Hyunjin goes to take Kkami from Y/n face while Jisung helps Y/n get up.
" I'm sorry, Y/n, for my dog's action " Hyunjin sent Y/n an apologetic face.
Y/n gave the male a reassured smile before Y/n noticed the other male beside her. Jisung kind of froze in his place after making eye contact with Y/n.
" This is my brother, Han Jisung " Hyunjin nudges Jisung to make him snap back to reality.
" Nice to meet you, beautiful lady " Jisung flirted with Y/n.
Hyunjin mentally palmed his face at Jisung's flirty behaviour and made sure Y/n didn't expect that.
" Aah, I'm Jung Y/n and nice to meet you too " Y/n gives Jisung a bow.
" Are you living at this house alone? " Jisung question Y/n.
" Yup, I'm living here alone " Y/n shyly replies.
" If you need help, just go to our house " Jisung winked at her.
Y/n only let out an awkward laugh as she responded, and Hyunjin dragged Jisung back to their house after saying goodbye to Y/n.
" Aish… You like that with her, she will think that you're a weirdo guy " After arriving at their house, Hyunjin scolded Jisung.
" What I said is true " Jisung defends himself while both of them argue.
Chan looked at them while putting his hand at his waist with a scary face, so Chan cleared his throat to make both of them stop, and both of the males stopped arguing after noticing Chan in front of them.
" Where have both of you gone? " Chan asks with a serious tone.
" We both go to Y/n house after Kkami makes her startled " Hyunjin explains to Chan.
" Y/n?? " Chan tilted his head with a curious expression.
" Ooo, Y/n is our new neighbour that Jeongin talked about, and trust me, Hyung, when I say that she's really beautiful and almost looks unreal " Jisung literally bounced at his feet after speaking about the girl he just met today.
Chan gave Jisung an interested expression while crossing his arms at his chest.
" You sound so happy talking about her " Chan said.
" Of course, when I look at her, I feel like I want to bite her and mate with her " Jisung said until he didn't remember who was in front of him now.
Jisung's eyes widen after realization hits him, and Hyunjin bites his lips after what Jisung says.
" Hyung, I'm- I'm sorry. It just slipped out from my mouth " Jisung is shuttering while panic consumes him, but Chan only laughs at the younger male.
" That's sound very interesting and makes me want to meet her soon " Chan said with an amused tone.
Jisung and Hyunjin exhaled relief breath.
" You both go wash up, Minho will be mad at both of you " Chan tells both of the males.
Hyunjin and Jisung are quick to get inside the house with a scared face at Minho's name after Chan tells them, and Chan shakes his head.
{Time Skip}
Stray Kids gather around the living room with a very serious face, and Chan rubs his temple while pacing around the living room.
" I saw the wolf Namjoon Hyung talked about, and that wolf looked like they were looking at that house " Chan said, talking and showing at Y/n house.
" But I don't know why they want it or what they planned for her " Chan said, staring at his member.
" That's crossed the line, this is our place, and those wolves dare to cross it " Changbin says with a loud voice.
" Hyung, you knew the reasons? " Jeongin questions Chan.
" I don't exactly know the reasons, maybe the wolf wants her because she is human " Chan answered.
" So, what's the plan now? " Minho asked while crossing his legs on the sofa.
" We need to watch over every night and make a schedule to see who will do the watch over until the wolf is gone from our territory " Chan made a plan for everyone to have a turn-in watch over.
Stray Kids carefully made the plan to avoid making the unknowing wolf aware of their plans, and after making a plan, Changbin called his close friends.
" Hello " His friend answered.
" Yaah, Wooyoung - ah " Changbin greets Wooyoung and makes the male grimace at his loud voice.
" Geez, no need to yell at the phone. You will make me deaf," Wooyoung said.
" Do you talk to yourself? " Seonghwa in the other line mocked Wooyoung.
" What do you mean by that? " Wooyoung let out an offended gasp.
" You always yelled when you talked with her " Seonghwa dissing him.
" My baby is different, I was always excited when I talked with her " Wooyoung argued back.
Changbin, who heard everything, frowned.
" Who's this 'baby' that you really worked up when you mentioned this person? You got yourself some chicks to have fun? " Changbin curiously asked Wooyoung.
" Don't you dare say she is some slut, she's my girl and the most precious thing to me " Wooyoung yelled at Changbin.
" Changbin - ah, don't insult his girl if you still want to be his friend " Seonghwa warned Changbin.
" I'm sorry, Wooyoung " Changbin apologized to him. Wooyoung huffed in the other line but still accepted Changbin's apology.
" You won't introduce me to her? " Changbin teased the male.
" Hmp... I will consider it, just make sure not to fall in love with her " Wooyoung says sassily towards Changbin.
" Heh, I already have my mates " Changbin dismisses what his friend tells him.
" Don't talk like that, bro, you will regret it soon " Wooyoung evilly warned Changbin.
" Why do you say that? She's your girl, so you should protect her from other guys " Changbin frowns.
" Nevermind " Wooyoung utters and changes the topic.
Both of the males talked until late at midnight after a long time of not meeting each other.

Today, like usual, Y/n will meet her older brother with his bandmates. So right now, Y/n is choosing her clothes from the wardrobe, but she doesn't know what to wear. After half an hour, Y/n decides to wear black jeans with a baby pink crop top, and Y/n wears light makeup to make her face look less pale.
" Done " Y/n cheered to herself before she left her house.
Y/n drives to KQ Entertainment, which is kind of far from her house, and Y/n opens her playlist while driving to meet with Wooyoung.
A few moments later,
Y/n arrives at her brother's company, and she goes inside only to see Wooyoung already waiting for her in the lobby.
" Babe " Wooyoung shouted at her.
" Oppa " Y/n engulfs her older brother in her hugs.
Y/n and Wooyoung tightly hug each other.
" Oh my god! I miss you so much " Wooyoung whispered at her.
" Let's go meet with others " Wooyoung pulls Y/n body somewhere.
Both of them go to ATEEZ studio that has the other members.
" Guys, Y/n is here " Wooyoung announced to let them know about Y/n.
" Hai, Y/nnie " ATEEZ greeted Y/n with warm hugs.
" Your brother has been whiny since yesterday " Jongho complains at Y/n.
" Yaa, how dare you betray me " Wooyoung glared at Jongho, but the male only stuck out his tongue at Wooyoung.
" Y/nnie " Seonghwa taps Y/n's shoulder.
" Yes, Hwa Oppa " Y/n turn to Seonghwa and look shocked when he and others give her a present.
" Ige mwongayo? ( what is this? ) Onuel - eun nae saeng - il - i anida ( today is not my birthday )" Y/n giggles at them.
" Ulin al- a ( we know ) " Seonghwa also giggled.
" We want to give you a present because you already achieved your own dream at a young age " Hongjoong said with a grin.
" You have your own house now with good work " Yeosang said, patting Y/n's head.
" And most important, you don't have to deal with your obsessed brother at home anymore " San said with a sarcastic tone towards Wooyoung.
" You're just jealous that me and Y/n are like a couple outside, you can't beat me " Wooyoung mocks San until San starts to chase him around the company.
" Oppa never changes " Y/n sighs at Wooyoung's childish behaviour.
ATEEZ told Y/n about what her brother had been doing after her last visit, and ATEEZ told her how Wooyoung lost his focus after Y/n moved out from their house because he told them he was worried about the girl's safety.
" But Wooyoung really is dramatic, he cried like you were going to die or getting married. I don't know how you tolerate with him " Yunho cursed Wooyoung without a care if he heard it.
" She only moves out, what if one day she gets married to someone " Mingi is also doing the same thing.
ATEEZ shakes their heads with an annoyed expression, and Y/n only lets them complain about her brother without saying another word. Y/n knew all of them only wanted to tease Wooyoung for being dramatic, but all of them are actually close to each other, like siblings and a big family, because Y/n can't always stay by his side, and the same is for Wooyoung, so Y/n feels grateful to ATEEZ for always being with her brother, even though sometimes he is painful in the ass to handle.
Wooyoung always supports her dream since they are both still kids, and now Y/n wants to show her full support for Wooyoung as a return for what he did for her, and now that both of the siblings have already gotten what they wanted, Y/n goes to Wooyoung and hugs him tightly until he is kind of shocked by the sudden hugs.
" Thank you for being the best brother to me. I will support you no matter what happens to us " Y/n mumbled at Wooyoung's neck.
Wooyoung gave Y/n a pat on the head while a soft smile was plastered on his face.
" Thanks, Y/nnie, you are also the best sister that God gave me in this world and life " Wooyoung takes Y/n scent, which makes him calm down.
Y/n and Wooyoung spend time together doing many things they want.

I already mentioned these to @commander-sunshine but here are some of my head canons about A-17's favorite batch, because I am still thinking about them
I will start with the oldest of the batch:
Wolffe: Wolffe has that protective shabuir aura older siblings have. He is logical, has a hardshell and is sassy af. He wants to do the right thing at all times and perhaps is afraid of failures (especially after he lost his pack). As a cadet he was that one kid, who acted older and tougher than they were. He would try to be the brother to look up to. Tho wolffe is born sassy. It’s very easy to get under his skin and his vod'ike all respect and love to tease him with the simplest things. He can be an asshole if he wants to, which is almost every time when his vod'ike decide to be shitheads. His sense of humor is probably a little weird but at the same time very hilarious
Next is Fox: Fox is Wolffe’s twin. He is only a few milliseconds younger than him, which is why Fox hates it so much when Wolffe plays the 'I-am-the-older-twin'-card. Much like Wolffe, Fox is very protective of his brothers and shows it in weird ways since both aren’t good expressing their feelings. They both would rather bottle their feelings up than to burden anyone. Tho while Wolffe is more straightforward and rational, Fox is more sneaky and intuitive. That’s why the two argue almost 24/7. They are just too similar and yet so different. Also never anger Fox. As a cadet he bit a lot of brothers and kicked their shebs during sparring. In my head canon he was one of the best, if not the best, which is why he became the commander of the coruscant guard, directly serving the chancellor. His humor tho was probably dark since his early ages thanks to his perception and intuition
Ponds is the true middle child: He is always overlooked, despite him trying his best at all times. He is one of the kindest souls and always honest and true to himself. Thanks to him being overlooked tho, he can get away with a loooot of shit. He probably played so many pranks but no one ever suspected him. He is that sibling to take responsibility and lead when no one else will. Most of the vod'ike would probably go to him to confess anything, since wolffe and fox tend to be more… unhinged with their problem solving. Ponds humor probably contains a lot of word plays and puns. He doesn’t try to be funny tho
Now Bly: Bly is similar to Ponds but leans towards the younger brother category. He too is sometimes overlooked/ overshadowed by his siblings but not as bad as Ponds. If Bly plays pranks everyone will know that it was him. I think as a cadet Bly was very sensible and naive. He would make a lot of bets and end up losing so much, that Fox and his intuition would need to come to the rescue and het him back to the winning end. Bly is very caring and empathetic. His humor is kinda dorky and he sometimes ends up saying the wrong things despite his good intentions
And the youngest of the batch is Cody: Yes Cody is very responsible, tough and proud… but underneath all that… Cody is… he just has that little-shit energy. He plays and acts big, he is very talented and skilled in anything he does, but oh god that man was such a feral trouble maker as a cadet. Cody is so kriffing competitive he would challenge anyone walking past him. Most of the time he would challenge Fox. I think Cody and Fox had a special bond. They are both very competitive and see things in a similar ways. They just have mutual understandings of any situation. (This is also the reason why I think that Cody would have often visited Fox after order 66. They were both working for the empire and Cody slowly came to realize what Fox must have gone trough. I think Fox's death was an additional reason to go awol and find obi-wan)
Anyway Cody was an extreme brat, yet very caring and gentle when he saw someone in need of compassion. He always wanted to be an older brother and teach and help others.
With Rex he got that: Rex is the babiest baby of the batch. He is literally the batches favorite and no one tries to even hide it. Rex got all the cuddle and all the love his batch had to offer. Anyone who treated Rex like a defect because of his blonde hair… well lets say they all ended up in a medbay. Tho Rex was a little shit too. Not like Cody, but still a little shit. Rex would sometimes do the craziest things, but did he ever got punished for them? No. Did Cody get blamed for his chaos? Yes absolutely.
Rex and Cody were always close. They would prank their ori'vode nearly everyday and never did anyone blame kyute little Rex. Rex is also the only one who can stop any of their batchmates temper tantrums. Yet he likes to watch the chaos that are his brothers.
Bonus:
Rex watching Cody getting scolded for his chaos:

AN: this is my story for the CLONE FIC GIFT EXCHANGE @cloneficgiftexchange! I had so much fun participating in this and really hope another happens soon💖 this one got super long but nonetheless I hope you enjoy!! (also big shoutout to @starrylothcat for beta reading!!)
Relationships: Commander Cody x Royal Fem!Reader
Summary: Commander Cody had hoped that being assigned as security detail for a royal gala would be nothing more than a mundane distraction from the war. But when Separatists attempt to assassinate the you, the princess, he's forced to take you into hiding--and forced to reevaluate his priorities.
Prompts: "I didn't mean to throw you off your feet"; "Are you going to stay"
NSFW (MINORS DNI) WARNINGS: eventual smut (pretty vague, but includes oral (f! receiving), unprotected piv sex)
Word Count: 9.2k (SORRY)
Tumblr media
Cody was rarely one to complain about assignments, but for gala detail, he would make an exception.
The night was young, and Cody grew older by the moment as every high society aristocrat passed him by on their way into the ballroom. Not one of them so much as acknowledged his presence, and frankly, he preferred it that way. Fox had told Cody his fair share of stories—tales of shepherding senators who’d no more faced the horrors of war than any hardship in life. On any other occasion, this should’ve been Fox’s jurisdiction in the first place: no world had the privilege of constant political parties more than Coruscant, after all.
But it seemed the fates had cruel intentions for Cody. This particular gathering was not to take place in the heart of the galaxy, but rather, a Mid-Rim planet he and his men were in near enough proximity to after their latest battle. Cody had tried to argue that their efforts were best spent elsewhere—fighting the war, for one. But high command in the Republic demanded the presence of the 212th at this event, and without General Kenobi there to argue on his behalf, Cody and his men were forced to comply with the order.
But it was just for the night, he reminded himself. He winced beneath his helmet as yet another couple entered the ballroom, dressed in robes so costly they could fund a whole battalion of his brothers.
Just for the night.
Cody activated the communicator in his helmet.
“Status report,” he spoke.
He’d called for a status report not even thirty minutes prior, but he felt compelled to do so again. Not out of any concern of attack—just so he could be certain the men were still awake.
He was struggling, as it was.
“All clear from the northern balcony,” came a reply.
“No trouble in the shipyard.”
“The gardens are still as boring as they were when we got here.”
The slightest smirk found Cody’s lips.
“Affirmative. Keep your eyes peeled. And open,” he asserted. “We’re just here for the night. You’ll be back to blasting clankers before you know it.”
An unenthused “sir, yes sir” followed in a chorus over his comms, and Cody sighed. He glanced up at the stained glass ceiling hanging over the ballroom, seeing the moon rise ever higher beyond it.
Just for the night.
The active chatter of the crowd in the ballroom fell all at once to a murmur, and Cody hadn’t the slightest idea why. He stood taller than his already perfect posture, trying not to appear out of sorts as he sought out what had drawn the room’s attention.
The briefing for this assignment had mentioned precious little about the purpose of this gala, and it had certainly neglected any note of the princess hosting it. But when you emerged through the massive ballroom doors, Cody grew transfixed just as everyone had.
From atop the grand staircase, you possessed the eyes of every noble in attendance. Your long gown flowed with every step of your descent, its simple design never once distracting from the perfect poise with which you carried yourself. A crystalline tiara glittered atop your head, earning glances of envy from the crowd, but Cody hardly noticed it; he was much too distracted by the radiant eyes beneath it.
In the midst of your angelic descent to the ballroom floor, Cody overheard a pair of nobles whispering somewhere on his flank.
“The princess is here?” one of them asked in hushed tones.
“Of course she is,” replied another, “it’s her gala.”
“I know that! It’s just… is it truly safe for her to be here? If the Separatists knew—”
“—then what? They’d be foolish to try something.”
As you landed on the final step, you did something no one else had dared to do the entire evening. You glanced at the clone commander standing guard by the bannister, meeting him with a shy smile he would remember for the rest of his life.
As quickly as the moment had begun, the night returned to normal. The regular commotion resumed as you were swept into the awaiting crowd, greeted by politicians and royals alike, all while Cody remained frozen in time. Admittedly, Cody was not the most sociable man, even by the standard of the clones. Never in his life, in all the planets he had visited, had he seen a woman as remarkable as you. He honestly wasn’t even sure how to respond to it all—the fluttering in his stomach and the burning beneath his cheeks.
A quiet sigh passed his lips. As if there was anything to do besides remain in place. He could be the most charismatic man in the galaxy, and it wouldn’t matter. There was more that stood between him and you than his own gracelessness. A soldier speaking to a princess would be shut down well before he began fumbling the conversation.
So, he stayed in place, perfectly unassuming, trying to stifle the wish to get one more glance at you. Waiting.
Just for the night.
“Commander… we might have a problem.”
The chirp of Cody’s commlink brought him out of his silent moping. He pressed his fingers to his helmet.
“What is it?” he asked.
A pause. No reply. Cody nearly called in again, when another soldier called in.
“Commander! We have hostiles approaching from the northern ridge!”
“Close ranks! We’re being overrun!”
Cody opened his mouth to give orders, when suddenly, the stained glass dome above the ballroom shattered. In the glow of the moon, a fleet of droids crashed through the ceiling, landing among the nobles below. The ballroom erupted into chaos, nobles running and screaming as the droids readied their weapons.
“This planet is under Separatist control!” cried a battle droid as it paced among the crowd. “We demand that the princess be brought to us for immediate execution!”
Execution?
Cody sprung to action, scanning through the crowd, hoping to find you before the droids could. At last, his eyes spotted the sparkling tiara in the sea of panicked nobles. Try as you might to move to safety, too many shoving partygoers kept you locked in place.
And what was worse was the imposing shadow of a B2 battle droid stalking up behind you, growing closer by the second.
Barging through the crowd, Cody sprinted to your position. The B2 stopped in place a few paces from you, slowly lifting its arm into firing position. Cody’s eyes shot wide.
“Princess!” he shouted.
He barely managed to catch your attention before breaking through the mob, collapsing upon you just as the B2 fired its wrist rocket.
The two of you crashed to the ground, Cody doing his best to keep you in his arms and shield you from the heat of the explosion. When the blast faded, he pulled away, quickly getting to his feet and helping you do the same.
“Princess, it’s not safe here,” Cody called over the commotion. “We need to go!”
The frazzled, frightened face that looked back at him made his heart ache. But the small, half-lucid nod you gave him was enough for him. He kept your hand in his as he began guiding you to safety.
The two of you ran, Cody steering you away from any possible threat. As he pulled you up the grand staircase you’d entered from, he triggered his commlink.
“This is Commander Cody; I have the princess,” he spoke. “We are moving for evacuation. Hold out as long as you can!”
As he burst through the ballroom doors, he turned sharply down an adjacent hallway, looking over his shoulder at you.
“Princess, what’s the fastest way to the landing platform?” he called. For a moment, you were too dazed to answer, and Cody’s brow furrowed. “Stay with me, Princess. The landing platform?”
“Take… take the next left,” you answered at last. Your voice was soft—far too soft for what you’d endured that night. “There’s a ship on the landing platform… my ship—we can use that.”
Cody nodded firmly, following your instructions to the letter. Through the echoed sounds of attack, you and Cody emerged onto the landing platform, where a small golden vessel awaited you. Cody wasn’t worried about where the two of you were headed—for now, offworld was all that mattered.
Together, you boarded your starship. Once Cody ensured you were situated in the ship’s living quarters, he rushed to the cockpit. Before the droids could grow wise to where you’d run off to, he picked the ship off the ground, navigating to the temporary reprieve of hyperspace.
, , ,
“Troubling news, this is…”
Cody stood in the cockpit of your ship, looking upon holograms of the two Master Jedi to whom he relayed the news. It was rare he had an audience with Master Yoda, but General Kenobi’s presence was familiar.
“More than troubling,” General Kenobi agreed. “To attack a peaceful gathering entirely unprovoked… the Separatists have gotten bolder.”
Master Yoda nodded, his chin clutched between his fingers. “Indeed. What they were seeking, I wonder?”
“I believe I can answer that, General,” Cody spoke at last. “Assassinating the princess seems to be the likely motivation. If the Separatists were to install their own leader, the planet would act as an important staging ground for future attacks on the Mid-Rim.”
“And save her, you did?”
“Yes, sir,” Cody confirmed. “She’s in stable condition aboard this vessel.”
Cody’s eyes lingered to the living quarters of the ship, where you had been since the two of you fled the planet. You’d kept quiet so far, unmoving from the bench you sat on. It struck Cody with an inexplicable worry.
“Good. Make sure she remains that way,” General Kenobi instructed. “The Separatists will be hunting her even now. You’ll need to ensure they aren’t able to find her.”
“Undercover, you must go,” Master Yoda added. “Refuge, on a nearby planet, must you seek. Until the princess’s planet, liberated, it is.”
Cody’s jaw tensed.
“And… how long will it take to muster enough forces and reclaim her world?” he asked.
“We believe we will have the required numbers in ten rotations,” General Kenobi answered.
Ten rotations?
Cody stifled his surprise, masking his uncertainty with his usual stoic expression.
“Understood, General,” he answered with a curt nod.
“Good,” General Kenobi answered. “Until we contact you, keep a low profile. And do not let anything happen to her.”
“That will be all, Commander,” Master Yoda said. The slightest smile appeared on the corners of his lips as he added, “May the Force be with you.”
The holograms before him dissipated, leaving Cody alone. He released the heavy sigh that he’d harbored in his chest. Ten rotations. To think that hours ago, this had been a mere pit stop on his way back to Coruscant, where he could await redeployment to a battlefront in need of his support. Now, it had become a full-fledged mission of its own…
Again, Cody glanced towards the back hold, seeing that you still hadn’t budged from where you sat. You stared hard at nothing, but he could tell that the violence of the droid army still flashed before your eyes. A wave of guilt washed over the commander. For him, this was just another assignment in years of war. But for you, your entire life had changed—taken from you with no warning and no remorse. If ten rotations was truly all it would take to see your world returned to you, it would be a blessing.
Treading quietly, Cody approached you. As he grew closer, he could make out more and more lesions on your skin. He tried not to grimace, but the sight of injuries on someone so beautiful ate at him. Though he was thankful you were still alive, he faulted himself for not being able to protect you from all the harm you’d endured that night.
“Princess…” he began. Immediately, you blinked out of your stupor, turning your attention to him. “I’ve received word that the Republic will be mounting a campaign to retake your world. But in the meantime, we’ll need to take you into hiding to ensure there are no more threats to your life.”
Your shoulders slumped.
“I see,” you murmured. “For how long?”
“We’re estimating around ten rotations.”
“Oh.”
It didn’t take a Jedi to discern the worry on your face, but in short order, you put on a smile. Right away, Cody knew it looked wrong—polite, pretty, but not at all real. Not anything like the warm smile you’d shown him when you first passed by him.
“Thank you, sir, for informing me,” you said.
Your gaze fell to the floor, and the smile you’d forced onto your features fell along with it. Cody thought to take his leave, but couldn’t. Not yet. He didn’t want to abandon you in an empty hold, on a ship with an unknown soldier, to remain all by your lonesome. If he’d learned one thing from General Kenobi’s leadership, it was just how far a modicum of kindness could take you.
And for you, he could certainly be kind.
“Are you… all right?” he asked. His stilted voice made him wince. He hoped you didn’t take his rigidness as disrespect—he just wasn’t used to this. Any of it.
You offered a weak nod in response.
“I’ll be fine,” you assured him. “I… I think I’m still a bit out of sorts, is all. Thank you for your concern.”
Cody took a seat beside you on the bench—though making sure to keep an overly respectful distance from you.
“It… must be hard for you. Leaving your home behind so suddenly,” he continued.
You shook your head halfheartedly.
“I’m not worried about me. I’m worried about my people,” you sighed. “We’ve resisted Separatist occupation for so long. I shouldn’t be in hiding while they suffer.”
Cody watched you as your hands trembled, your brow knit with worry. The pain you held ran deeper than your wounds from the attack, and that much was obvious even to him. Cody solved his problems with a blaster more often than he did with words, but for you, he felt compelled to try.
“If it means anything, Princess… I’m sure your people are just as concerned for your well-being,” Cody spoke at last. Your gaze met his once more, and the sincerity in your eyes nearly paralyzed him. He dashed his nervousness with an awkward cough. “The Republic values your world and your people. As soon as the necessary forces are able to deploy, I have complete confidence that you will be returned home with no further struggles against the Separatists. We won’t let you down, Princess.”
The hold fell silent. Your eyes, sparkling in the glow of hyperspace, peered into his. Although his sheepishness begged him to look away, he stared back at you. When at last a small grin formed on your lips, Cody wasn’t sure whether to feel relieved or petrified.
“... I don’t believe you ever told me your name, sir,” you mentioned.
Cody gave an awkward nod. “It’s… Commander Cody, your highness.”
Your smile widened.
“Cody…” you repeated. The sound of his name on your lips made Cody’s face burn. “I’m thankful to have your company through all of this. I can’t imagine how much worse things could have been without your intervention. I owe you my life.”
In all his time on the front lines of this war, Cody had rarely been thanked. He never expected to be—he was quite literally born for this conflict, so gratitude was far from necessary. But knowing for once that his actions had meaning—that he was valued not merely as part of an army, but as an individual… it made his chest ache.
His gaze broke from yours, glancing away in hopes of slowing his rapid pulse.
“Of course, Princess. It’s what we’re here for,” he assured you. “Though… I should apologize.”
You tilt your head. “What for?”
His eyes returned to you; when he saw the bruises forming on your arms, he frowned.
“I’ve had better rescues,” he confessed. “I didn’t mean to throw you off your feet like that. I should’ve been more careful.”
To his surprise, a gentle laugh escaped you. He grimaced, wondering if he’d said something wrong. With a shake of your head, you rested your hand on his shoulder.
“Cody… a few bruises are no cost at all for staying alive to wear them,” you assured him. “I’d prefer getting knocked over by you to becoming a victim of the Separatists any day.”
The warmth of your touch and your smile seeped through Cody’s armor. Suddenly, the prospect of spending a few rotations ensuring your safety no longer troubled him so much. “Well… good,” he said. “Though, if you don’t mind, I’d prefer not to make a habit of barging into you—whether or not you prefer it.”
You beamed. Cody swore he saw the faintest blush on your cheeks.
“Just for special occasions, then?” you teased.
Cody chuckled, allowing his guard to drop for the first time that evening.
“If that’s what you want to call it… sure,” he replied.
Something about the kindness you showed him made the war feel so distant, even in spite of all it had taken to get the two of you here. At your side, maybe ten rotations would feel like no time at all.
In the back of his mind, a small part of Cody even wondered if ten rotations was long enough.
, , ,
The transition to life on a quiet planet hadn’t been kind to either of you, but thankfully, having one another meant the struggle was not so overwhelming. Cody had taken a number of precautions from the moment you touched down—finding accommodations far from the nearest town center and ensuring that as few locals as possible even knew of your existence. The two of you had lived there in isolation for a few days now, in a little domicile out in the woodlands. And while those first few days were tense with worry, they were thankfully uneventful.
At first, Cody had tried to keep himself distant from you. He had little knowledge of what the life of a royal might entail, but something told him that fraternizing with a common soldier was probably considered an etiquette breach of some kind. But despite his attempts at maintaining decorum, every kind gesture made your company irresistible to him. Each time you brewed a pot of caf in the morning, you would offer him a mug. His rations were always tended to before your own. Even at night, you wouldn’t sleep before ensuring there wasn’t something he needed your help with. Compared to his typical soldier’s life, you treated him like royalty—a bit of irony that was far from lost on him.
The uneventful days meant the two of you had ample time to talk. You clearly had experience with speaking, having penned and performed countless speeches on your homeworld. But the way you talked to Cody felt different from any senate address he had ever heard. You spoke so fondly of things you missed from your homeworld, memories that you could glow about for hours. Cody was content to let you, though admittedly, there were times he found his attention drifting from your words—watching instead the way your eyes would glitter, your lips would purse, your cheeks would blush.
Of course, you turned the conversation to him just as often. Cody initially struggled to match your enthusiasm, not one to hold such a romantic memory of most anything. But you quickly found a way through his shell when you landed on the topic of his brothers—the only family he had, and the one he devoted himself fiercely to. Something about your attentive gaze and warm smiles made it easy for Cody to open up to you in a way he had never even considered opening up to anyone else.
Your talks served as such a fitting distraction, in fact, that you barely noticed just how much time had passed the two of you by. Both of you were caught by surprise the day you awoke to no caf left to brew—and hardly any rations, to match.
Faced with the options of going hungry or making the trek to the nearby marketplace for supplies, Cody chose the latter. He had grappled for an hour whether it was wiser to leave you alone in the domicile where you might be safer, but lack his protection. However, you made the decision for him—insisting that you would be joining him no matter what he had to say about it.
He hadn’t been so keen on the idea, at first. But as he watched you browse the bustling farmer’s market, he warmed to it quickly enough.
As the two of you roamed around the marketplace, you stopped for what Cody estimated to be the tenth time in the past hour, taking an interest in a hand-woven tapestry hanging on a stall.
“Hmm…” you hummed, taking in the uniquely knitted fabric.
Cody tilted his head, a smirk on his lips. “Enjoying yourself?”
You returned to his side, grinning up at him.
“I am, thank you,” you returned, speaking in stride as the two of you began walking again. “Have some sympathy, will you? I’m lucky if I get to leave my palace once a cycle.”
When another patron skirted a bit too close for comfort, you didn’t hesitate to walk nearer to Cody’s side. It swelled a strange sense of pride in him, knowing that you trusted him enough to keep you safe. To be your protector. He swore to never make you regret that trust.
“I’m just… trying to act natural,” you continued.  “I’ve never had to get supplies for myself, as strange as that is to admit.” You look up at him curiously. “Do you think we stick out at all?”
A dry smirk found Cody’s lips.
“What, a clone and a princess on a planet of farmers? I can’t imagine how we would,” he snarked.
When you donned that sweet, flustered grin, Cody’s smile widened.
“You’re mean,” you teased.
“You make it easy.”
With a roll of your eyes, you checked satchel on your hip.
“Well… since we have almost everything, I don’t think I’ll have to endure your cruelty for much longer, at least,” you pointed out. “I think we’re just missing…”
Before your sentence ended, a clamor from further up in the marketplace interrupted you. Cody placed a hand on your shoulder, holding you close as the scene developed. At first, he could only make out the sight of fleeing patrons and frightened stall owners hastily stowing their merchandise.
But then, that familiar, metallic clanking droned into Cody’s ears, and he knew.
The Separatists were here.
A full squad of droids trampled into view on the dirt road, kicking up clouds of dust behind them. At the center, a B1 barked orders at the civilians.
“Attention, citizens! There is a royal fugitive hiding on your planet. Bring her to us, or face the consequences!”
As the droids advanced, you stiffened. Given the unlikelihood of a different princess running from Separatist forces somewhere on this world, these droids were here for you. And if the two of you didn’t act quickly, they just might find you.
Cody’s eyes narrowed, donning the Commander’s mindset with ease. He reached for your wrist, taking extra care to be gentle in fear of reliving the first time he rescued you.
“This way,” he said, his voice hushed. With deft strides, he led you through the crowd—all of whom seemed far too distracted by the encroaching droids to notice just who was passing by them.
Cody’s eyes scanned the marketplace, and the moment he spotted an alleyway behind a few abandoned stalls, he began formulating an exit strategy. But his swiftly-made plan met almost immediately with challenges. A separate squad of droids approaching from a few dozen meters off prepared to slam his only window of opportunity shut.
With no time to explain, Cody slipped his arm around your waist, sweeping you toward the alleyway alongside him. Just as you entered the shadows, he pressed you against the wall, leaning his hand against the brick surface in such a way that the shawl on his shoulder fully obscured you from the main thoroughfare.
At first, Cody listened closely to the sound of the droids stalking past, counting the paces as their metallic frames shambled down the street. Only when his focus returned to the sight directly in front of him did he realize just how close you were as he loomed over you now.
Years of outmaneuvering droids made the invading Separatists all but mundane. Standing chest to chest with you, his lips a mere tilt of his head from yours… that was what sent his heart racing at lightspeed.
“Ah… a-apologies, Princess,” he murmured, his gaze trying to meet anything but you. He silently chastised himself, unable to imagine how daunted you must feel by his actions.
But it was your touch on his cheek that pulled him back to reality—and the gentle guidance of your hand that pulled his gaze back to yours. The smile you wore drew a blush to his cheeks.
“Cody…” you spoke softly. His name… you made it sound so perfect. “You have nothing to apologize for. I don’t know what I would do if you weren’t here.”
Cody could only hope the droids were long gone, as the only sound he could hear clearly was the pounding pulse in his ears. The weight of your words hit his chest like a speeder, leaving him hopeless to muster any meaningful response.
“...o-of course,” was all he could utter. With all his strength, he found the slightest smile of his own, holding your gaze until he could no longer handle the sight of you without losing sight of himself. “It is my honor to protect you, Princess.”
When at last he looked away, he drew a steadying breath. From the sound of it, the droids outside the alleyway had passed. A relief, but not a great one, since the challenge of escaping the city still remained.
However reluctantly, Cody pulled himself away from you, though keeping a hand on your waist to ensure you stayed at his side. A cautious glance out of the alleyway revealed no additional droids—a promising sign.
“We need to keep moving,” Cody said, staying vigilant as he walked you through the market. “We’re nearly at the edge of town. If we can get clear of the market and into the forest—”
“You! Stop right there!”
The shrill, tinny voice of a battle droid brought Cody to a halt for a mere moment. The rhythmic clanking approached from behind the two of you.
“Identify yourselves, citizens!” the droid hissed as it got nearer. Cody didn’t respond. The droid stalked ever closer. “Are your auditory processors working? Identification—now!”
Cody squeezed your hip, leaning in just close enough for you to hear him whisper.
“Run.”
Abruptly, he released you from his grasp, whirling around and ripping his pistol from its thigh holster along the way. He needed only a split second to spot the droid—and shorter still to fire a shot into its head.
The sound of blaster fire alerted the dozens of other droids scattered around the marketplace, drawing them all in perfect pace to the location of their fallen comrade. Not wanting to give them an easy shot, Cody took off running the same direction you had.
As he ran, he looked ahead, trying but failing to see you—especially now that the blaster fire had stirred the remaining civilians into a frenzy. He kept faith that you’d listened to him and ran, unable to do much more with the droids’ stray blaster bolts ringing by his ears. He darted through the mob, tuning out every distraction—the clamor of the crowd, the dust plumes kicked up by the droids’ blasters...
“Cody!”
Your voice, however, always seemed to get his attention.
Cody locked his legs, sliding to an abrupt halt against the dusty road. He whipped his head in the direction of your voice, and at last, he spotted you taking cover behind a market stall. You waved him over to you, and as he ran, he saw why you’d chosen here, of all places, to wait for him.
Parked beside the stall was an abandoned speeder bike ripe for the taking.
As Cody arrived at your side, he stopped only briefly to set his hand on your shoulder.
“Are you all right?” he asked.
You nodded. “I’m fine. I found this speeder—”
“Already on it,” Cody interjected. Before he turned to the speeder, he handed you his blaster. “Have you ever used one of these?”
“Once or twice. O-Only for ceremonies…”
“Good enough,” he grunted, already on his knees to slice the speeder’s controls. “If any droid gets close, point it and fire.”
Cody tried to ignore the impending march of the clankers, rewiring the bike as quickly as he could manage. He’d nearly cracked it when he heard a blaster bolt ring out at his side, and a metallic pang some dozen meters behind him. He didn’t dare risk a glance over his shoulder to take in your handiwork, but beneath his adrenaline, he felt the smallest tinge of pride.
At last, the speeder’s engine revved to life. Cody got to his feet, finding you standing over the crumpled body of a B1. You gripped his blaster with white knuckles, hands trembling ever so slightly, just waiting for another clanker to try its luck. Biting back a smirk, Cody took the pistol from your hands.
“Nice shot,” he said quickly. With his free hand, he helped sit you on the front of the speeder. “Hold on tight. Once we get moving—”
“Cody, look out!”
You pointed past Cody with wide eyes, and he had barely a moment to follow your gaze as another droid rounded the corner. Just as it raised its blaster and fired, you yanked Cody down by his wrist. The bolt that would’ve been in Cody’s chest instead singed his shoulder, and Cody was glad he was alive to feel the pain that coursed from his wound.
Fumbling for his pistol, Cody fired two shots—managing to drop the droid with the second. But as it fell, even more came to replace it. With gritted teeth, Cody clambered onto the speeder behind you.
“Your shoulder…!” you cried, looking upon his wound with wide eyes.
“I’ll be fine,” he grunted. “Hold on!”
Pushing through his pain, Cody clasped the bike’s handlebars. The engine roared, launching the bike forward and gaining speed by the second. A hail of blasterfire flew around the two of you, and Cody veered as well as he could manage to avoid it. Once the speeder cleared through the treeline, the bolts became fewer and fewer, until at last, none at all chased after you. , , ,
The adrenaline driving Cody subsided little by little on the long ride back to the domicile. By the time the two of you arrived, the stinging wound on his shoulder had begun to ache and burn. Even so, he forced himself to keep his priorities straight—which meant tending to you, first and foremost.
When he parked the speeder, he got to his feet, before reaching his hand down to help you stand. To his surprise, though, you stared back at him in horror.
“Princess…?” he breathed.
Tears welled in the corners of your eyes.
“Cody… w-we need to get inside,” you instructed.
You dismounted the bike, only taking his hand to lead him indoors. You slammed the door behind him, a shaky breath leaving your lips as you sat him down on a chaise in the living quarters. Cody watched you, confused as you began to rifle through cabinets.
“Princess, what’s wrong?” he asked.
You didn’t answer, merely shaking your head. He could see the way your hands trembled as you fished the bacta patches out from one of the cabinets. When you turned to face him again, the glow of the sunset through the windows was just enough to light the tears on your face.
You sat beside him, and before he could say a word, you reached for the collar of his shirt. His chest seized as your nimble fingers ran down his body, too nervous to even breathe. One by one, you unhooked the fasteners, before carefully stripping the fabric from him. Seeing the wound on his shoulder more clearly now only made you cry harder, forcing you to pinch your eyes shut as you prepared a bacta patch.
Realizing now what had you so worked up, Cody found the ghost of a smile.
“Hey… it’s all right,” he promised. “I’ve taken worse hits than this. I’ll be fine.”
You sniffled, wiping away your tears with the back of your hand before carefully affixing the bacta patch to the wound on his shoulder. Your hands lingered there, reddened eyes unmoving from his injury.
Against his better judgment, Cody put his hand on your cheek. Gently, he turned your gaze to meet his.
“Princess, please,” he begged. When more tears slipped from your eyes, he swept them away with his thumb. “Please, tell me what’s wrong.”
Your lips parted slightly, but still, you struggled to speak. Cody’s heart ached at your hesitation; he leaned closer to you, running his thumb softly against your cheekbone. To his relief, you leaned into his touch, sighing and calming down.
“This is all happening because of me,” you confessed at last.
Cody tilted his head. “What do you mean?”
“None of this would’ve happened if the Separatists weren’t hunting me. You… you got hurt because of me.” Despite your best efforts, tears overwhelmed you again. “You could’ve died… and it would’ve been my fault.”
Your sorrow ate away at Cody. Never had he felt this irrepressible instinct—the desire to pull you into his arms, to hold you against his chest and promise you over and over that everything would be all right. He’d make it all right for you. Someone like you didn’t deserve to feel this way… and certainly not on his behalf.
Though he wished he could break that barrier, the most he could manage was placing his other hand against your cheek—cupping your face softly. He gazed into your glassy, beautiful eyes, struggling to find the words to convey everything on his mind.
“Princess…” he began softly, “please, listen to me. None of this is your fault. Believe me, the Separatists have no trouble shooting at me whether or not I’m with you.”
You pouted. “But I—”
Cody pinched your cheek playfully. “Hey. Just listen.”
To his utmost relief, the slightest smile formed on your lips. But though he was glad to see it, it made what he planned to say next all the more difficult.
“If anything… I’m happy I was the one to take a hit today. I don’t know what I would’ve done if something happened to you under my protection,” he continued. His words felt strangled in his throat, and every passing second begged him to find the courage to speak. “I… I would do anything for you, Princess. I… um…”
Looking into your eyes—seeing just how beautiful, soft, and breathtaking you appeared in the bloom of the setting sun… Cody couldn’t finish his thought. The words that lingered on his tongue held such consequence—both for him and for you. He couldn’t say which he feared more: that you might reject him, or that you might not.
But as always, you saw through him. You leaned in closer, resting one of your hands on his.
“You what?” you prompted him, gazing fondly into his eyes.
Unable to deny you, Cody drove himself to speak.
“I… care about you.”
It wasn’t what he truly wished to say. But in your eyes, he knew you understood.
“Cody…”
His name on your lips drove him mad. But your lips on his sent him spiraling.
Every glance he’d stolen at your lips never could have prepared him for the feeling of kissing you like this. What little distance remained between the two of you melted away, and the uncharacteristic hesitation that had plagued Cody since the day he met you finally left him. Knowing that you felt just as strongly as he did finally allowed him to be his true self. It compelled him to serve you as more than just a soldier.
Nothing but a word from you could have stopped Cody then—from carrying you to your bed, from laying you carefully upon your sheets, from gently stripping the fabric from your figure. Your hands minded his injury as they ran over his skin, but he had forgotten about it long ago. His only concern was you.
“Cody…”
His name dripped from your lips like honey as he worked his way down your body, marking inch after inch of your form with delicate kisses. It was a softness he hadn’t believed himself capable of. But every fleeting, tender touch you graced him with inspired something in his heart. He had never been loved before; he was a soldier, built for battle and nothing more. And yet, you treated him with such care—as though he might break from too swift a touch. In a way, he supposed it was true. The mere feeling of being cared for swelled his heart so full that he feared it might burst.
No, he had never been loved before. And if this was to be the last time, he wanted to relish it utterly.
“Cody…”
He couldn’t say which he was drunk on more: the sound of your voice as you breathed his name, or the wetness he lapped between your legs. With your fingers roaming through his hair, his head held snugly between your thighs, there was nowhere else in the galaxy that could’ve filled Cody with such bliss. Every twist of your hips, every arch of your back, every hitch of your breath only drove him to please you more.
“Cody…”
You looked so beautiful as he loomed over you now. The warm dusk painted your skin, though your cheeks burned red without it. And your smile… even as he ran his thumb along your lips, even as he trailed his length against your sex, it never faded from your face. You wore it just for him, and he would not take that privilege for granted.
Only when he pressed into you did the overwhelming pleasure turn your expression to something different, but he didn’t fret, choosing to meet your lips with his, instead.
“Cody…!”
In an eternity and an instant, he could feel himself unraveling. It took all his strength to keep from succumbing to the agonizing, heavenly warmth you enveloped him with. How could he, when you still needed him? Lips lavishing your neck, hands tangled in your hair, he buried himself in you over and over. While your nails dragged across his back, your voice grew hoarse from whimpers and moans. He knew you were close—so horribly, painfully close.
When his hand trailed down across your form, and his fingers grazed the aching point between your legs, you cried his name for the last time that night.
“Cody!”
Wave after wave of your release shuddered through you, the sensation spelling Cody’s end, all the same. Your ankles locked around him, holding him in your depths as he filled you with his warmth. Trembling and spent, Cody barely managed to keep himself from collapsing on you, maintaining his balance just long enough to meet you in a soft, tender kiss—one that could never convey the full extent of his adoration.
Reluctantly, he pulled away from you, if only to join you at the head of the bed. As the heat of your encounter faded, an inkling of uncertainty entered Cody’s mind again. His hands longed for you, but as before, your titles stood in his way. He feared being improper, offending you somehow even after the love you’d shared…
But, to his utmost thankfulness, you were not about to let him flounder. Unabashed, you worked your way into his arms, burrowing yourself against his broad chest. The mere sight overwhelmed Cody with warmth. With no further doubts, he embraced you, dotting kiss after loving kiss upon your head.
After a moment, he leaned back, if only to look upon you. Again, you met him with that smile—the one he would never tire of, and the one he hoped you would wear any time he was near. Gently, he pressed his lips to your forehead.
“Princess…” he hummed. “I…”
You bumped your nose on his. “Yes, Cody?”
He sighed. There remained no part of him that could resist you now.
“I love you.”
His heart did not race at his words, nor did yours. Your smile merely widened, and you snaked your arms around his neck, drawing him in for yet another kiss. His confession was no shock to either of you. You’d had his love from the moment he first laid eyes on you. But what you said in turn—however much he had hoped to hear it—he still felt unprepared for.
“I love you, too.”
The moons rose over the horizon as the two of you shared in each others’ affection, and Cody had never been so content. Even as he drifted off, holding you in his arms, he thought not of the war, the Separatists, the dangers he might face come morning.
Only you.
,,,
That morning, you hadn’t brewed Cody a mug of caf, as was routine. But given there was no force in the galaxy that could pry you from his arms, he had to forgive you.
Lazy mornings felt strange to Cody—and lazy mornings in the embrace of a beautiful woman, even stranger. His fondest dreams could never compare to the sight of you waking up on his chest, eyes full of love as they looked upon him for the first time that day.
Gently, he set his hand against your cheek, beckoning your lips closer. You offered a soft kiss, with barely enough weight to graze your lips against his. Cody could feel you smile against him, and he could only smile, in turn.
“Good morning, Princess,” he hummed, trailing languid kisses along your jaw. “Now what has you smiling at this hour?”
His teasing only served to widen your grin. You giggled—not stopping when his lips continued down your neck.
“Oh, nothing, really… I suppose I’m just in good spirits,” you sighed. Your hands ran along Cody’s shoulders, slipping up his neck until you buried your fingers in his hair. “It’s entirely possible that it has something to do with waking up next to such a handsome man, but… I can’t be sure.”
Cody chuckled. His lips had reached your collarbone now, and he had no desire to stop lavishing you anytime soon.
“You can’t, can you?” he echoed. “What would it take to make you sure?”
As he asked his question, Cody’s calloused hands slipped up your thighs, roving over your hips and up your gorgeous frame. His touch drew the faintest gasp from your lips, emboldening him ever more. Though the night you shared had exhilarated Cody beyond his wildest dreams, he couldn’t help but long for more of you. And judging by the way your back arched against him, you hadn’t had your fill of him, either.
“Cody…” A whimper passed your lips when his hands cupped your chest. Through a love-drunk smile, you breathed, “I love you…”
Cody hummed softly, intoxicated from the caress of your fingers along his scalp. He kissed along your sternum, reveling in your every sound.
“I love you, more…”
The shrill beeping from the strewn pile of Cody’s clothes on the floor startled both of you, a cruel return to reality. With a heavy sigh, Cody shook his head. If someone was making the effort to reach him on an undercover operation, it had to be important… much to his displeasure.
Wrapping you tightly in his arms, he offered a kiss to your forehead as a parting gift.
“You stay put,” he instructed playfully. “No getting into trouble while I’m gone.”
You rolled your eyes and bumped your nose against his. “I’ll try.”
With a heavy sigh, Cody left the warmth of the bed and your arms behind, making himself presentable for whomever awaited on the other end of the ringing commlink. Once he was dressed, he stepped out of your bedroom, ensuring the door closed firmly behind him. Alone in the main room of the domicile, he accepted the incoming transmission.
“General Kenobi,” Cody spoke as the Jedi flickered to life on the holoprojector.
“Good morning, Cody,” General Kenobi answered. “It feels like it’s been ages since we’ve talked. How are you getting on?”
Cody swallowed the immediate fear that shot through him, forgetting for a moment that the general was looking for a situation report—not any summary of what trouble his commander may have gotten into the night prior.
“We’re… surviving,” Cody replied. “We had a close call yesterday—some Separatist deployments have made their way to this planet looking for the princess, and they nearly found her, too. But we were able to evade them without incident.”
“I see,” the general hummed, stroking his beard. “I suppose this news will be a relief, then. We’ve successfully liberated the princess’s homeworld, so the two of you won’t need to fend for yourselves any longer.”
Cody’s eyes went wide.
“Already?” he uttered.
“You sound surprised.”
“Well… i-it’s just that it’s only been eight rotations,” Cody floundered, trying to recover. “I was expecting we’d be here longer, but… that’s… good to hear, General.”
“I’m glad,” General Kenobi returned. “I’ll be on the lookout for an update or your arrival. May the Force be with you, Commander.”
“Thank you, sir. We’ll be there soon.”
The hologram dissipated, and Cody’s heart sank along with it. As a Marshal Commander, it was rare for him to lose track of… well, anything. But it seemed he’d gotten so wrapped up in this little fantasy with you that he forgot the caveats that came along with it—most notably, that it would eventually come to an end. It was bittersweet: on one hand, he was thankful to know your planet was safe, and he would be eager to return to his brothers…
…but on the other, the mere thought of leaving you behind twisted his stomach into knots.
Sighing, Cody pinched the bridge of his nose. He supposed all that remained was to break the news to you. But he couldn’t say why his feet stayed put—why he couldn’t bring himself to open the bedroom door again.
“I’m guessing it’s bad news for you, too…?”
Your voice brought Cody back from his brooding. When he turned, he found you wrapped up in one of his shawls, leaning against the doorway with a sad smirk on your lips. The sun bathed your skin in a radiant glow that made you look simply ethereal.
As if the universe couldn’t make this any harder on him…
Cody returned to you, his hands slipping around your waist. He could see the disappointment in your smile; even as you draped your arms over his shoulders, resting your forehead on his, you didn’t beam as brightly as you had before. Cody couldn’t blame you—his smile was just as somber.
“Yeah. I didn’t realize how long it’s been,” he sighed. With a bitter chuckle, he added, “I guess that’ll teach me to train my battalion so well. If they were worse soldiers, we might’ve had more time.”
Though his words earned a giggle from you, it didn’t linger. Before long, you fell quiet again, and Cody couldn’t bring himself to break the silence. He held you close, safe and sound in his arms. His hands ran up and down your back, and he planted kiss after lazy kiss upon your head. All while his mind raced.
What could he say? The options overwhelmed him, but not one felt like enough to make up for the reality of the situation. I love you with all I am. I wish we had more time. I want to marry you.
“Are you going to stay?”
Your voice caught Cody by surprise. He leaned back, if only to meet your eyes. When he did, he found you looking back at him with the slightest sorrow.
“What?” he asked.
The ghost of a smile formed on your lips, your gaze bashfully falling from his.
“You don’t have to go, you know… and I don’t have to go back to my homeworld. We can stay together, just the two of us.” As you spoke, your fingers trembled against his skin. “I know it’s a forlorn hope, and it’s asking a lot, but… I want to stay with you. I love you, Cody. I don’t want you to go.”
When your gaze met his again, your misty eyes pleaded with him.
“Will you stay with me, Cody? Please?”
Your words tore Cody asunder, a pain more agonizing than he’d felt on any battlefield. Pieces of him begged to stay with you—to never be without the love you showered him with, to be your protector for all his life. But as you could already tell, those pieces of him were not enough to shun his duty, his purpose. Even if he wished he could.
“Princess…” Cody sighed. From his first word alone, he saw the hope drain from your face. Though he wanted to subvert your fears—to say whatever it took to bring the light back to your eyes—he couldn’t. He owed you the full answer, as much as it hurt to hear—and to say. “I’m sorry. I love you, too… more than I ever thought was possible, I love you. But… I won’t let you give up everything for me. Your planet needs you, and my brothers need me. We can’t leave our lives behind.”
Dejected, your gaze fell from Cody’s. He could feel the tears slipping from your cheeks onto the soft fabric of his shirt. Guilt weighed on his chest, with every tear you shed crushing him further. Was he truly so cruel, to make the woman he loved more than life itself devastated like this?
He knew he had more to say. He knew it would be nowhere near enough to temper the pain of your separation. But if he could not give himself to you, he would leave you with hope to hold onto in his absence.
Gently, he took your chin between his fingers, moving your gaze back to his again.
“But Princess… I promise this isn’t the end for you and me. Even if we’re apart, I’m still yours… and I will be until the day I die.”
He pressed a soft kiss between your eyes.
“The moment this war ends, I’m boarding the first transport to your homeworld. And no matter what anyone says, I’m marrying you. I’ll spend the rest of my life making up for the time we lost. Nothing else will matter to me but you.” Though halfhearted, he managed a smirk. “Understood?”
You smiled. Even through the tears that streamed down your face, you smiled. It was real, and it was beautiful.
“Understood,” you whispered.
Softly, Cody kissed away every last one of your tears, before meeting your lips once more.
The two of you still had the day, and you both agreed to make the most of it. Packing up the little life you’d built together went slowly, interrupted countless times by kisses, conversations, lovemaking... Cody cherished every moment. He never wanted to forget the warmth of your body in his arms, the taste of you on his lips, the sound of your laughter in his ears. Soon, his senses would once more be overwhelmed by the battlefield, and he would long for these comforts in his dreams. If he couldn’t stay with you, he at least wanted to carry your memory with him.
When at last the two of you boarded your ship, ready to return to your homeworld, you were content. The pain of your imminent parting had dulled, and in its place came the bittersweet comfort of knowing you’d enjoyed what little time you had to the fullest.
The flight was uneventful, but unlike those first few days you’d spent with one another, the two of you had nothing to say. You merely held one another close, your adoration speaking for itself.
, , ,
“Your commander is to be commended for his service to this planet. Without him, I may very well not be here to retake my throne.”
You stood before the armored commander and his Jedi General, bowing your head politely to show your appreciation for their actions. In every sense, you were back where you belonged—in the halls of your palace, dressed in the finest regalia. The princess you were meant to be. But stunning though you were, Cody could not help but remember you as you had been during your time together. Dressed without concern for royal protocol, stripped down to your truest self… a side of you that was his alone to see.
From beside Cody, General Kenobi nodded graciously.
“He is an impeccable soldier. I am pleased to hear he took such good care of you,” General Kenobi said.
Cody’s heart raced, and he tried to keep a solemn face. His struggle was made all the more apparent with how easily you could mask any reaction, merely meeting the general with a kind smile.
“Indeed. I hope he is well rewarded for his assistance,” you said. For the briefest moment, your eyes met Cody’s, and your smile softened. “I’m afraid my gratitude is not nearly enough to thank him for all he has done.”
A ghost of a smile formed on Cody’s lips. He stood just a bit taller at your words.
“We’ll see to it that he is, your highness,” General Kenobi agreed. “But in the meantime, I’m afraid the war demands our attention. We wish you well, your majesty.”
You curtseyed politely before the two men.
“May luck follow you in your battles, Master Jedi,” you said. When you turned your attention once more to Cody, your expression faltered for the briefest moment. “And may luck follow you, Commander Cody.”
Cody gazed back at you, doing little to hide the feelings buried beneath the surface. Even as the General began the walk back to the transport, Cody remained—lingering just as long as he could. Savoring the sight of you until the last, desperate second. Praying to the Maker that his every thought of you could be conveyed through this last moment alone.
“Thank you… Princess.”
You smiled. Though the faintest sadness hid behind it, you meant it from the depths of your being. And even if it was unbecoming of a soldier, Cody smiled back at you.
But he knew this was not the end. Even as he finally turned away, setting his helmet upon his head and boarding the LAAT, even as he looked back to you one last time before the shuttle doors closed, he knew.
He would see you again.

what went down at The Works tho? how did Fox get those bruises??? did Cody go after the Chancellor....????? #PA AU
Alright, so I had to read backwards a couple of days to remind myself of what I set up and then...forgot about, lol. My bad.
"Commander!" Fox pauses as a Captain runs over to him, his armor is minorly scorched, and it looks like he had to rub soot off of his visor, before giving it up as a lost cause and just tugging his helmet off, "Glad you're here, sir!" "So I can see," Fox replies turning to give the Captain his full attention, vaguely aware of Thorn and Thire running around in the background giving orders, "What happened?" "Rakghouls, sir!" "...Rakghouls don't breathe fire." Fox says slowly. His brother's grin is wide and slightly manic, "No sir. But they do burn pretty damn well. Sir." "Did you hit your head, vod?" "Was thrown into a boiler, sir! Why?" "Just making sure. Stop by the medic before you head back out." "Yessir!" He hurries over to the medics, and Fox turns his attention to the rest of his brothers, and then he sighs. All of them are loading up flamethrowers. This is going to be a pain. Four hours later, after getting thrown around by several very large rakghouls, Fox ordered his men to burn everything that moves. Within reason. And then he sends a message to Yuu to make sure that they're willing to tend to his bruises.
As for Cody
Cody walks into the Jedi temple and makes a line directly for General Mace Windu. He's calm, very calm, too calm for the fact that he's internally screaming. "Commander?" Master Windu intercepts him before he can get too far into the temple, "Is everything alright?" "No. Not really." Cody says brightly. "Well, yes. It was a rhetorical question, I can sense that you're in some...distress." "I have reason to believe that Chancellor Palpatine is the cause of the war." "...I'm going to pretend you didn't say that-" "Simply because," Cody continues as if the older man hasn't said a word, "his Personal Assistant came to me and asked me how I would go about making someone disappear. And we both know that they're the reason Mas Amedda is missing." "There's no proof of that." "You really think that Fox is going to let Yuu end up in jail? Really?" "There's no proof that I'm willing to act on." Mace clarifies, "So...I'm ignoring this. Because I need to ignore it for my own well being." He pauses, "We never had this conversation. I'll send Ponds to you." "...are you asking me to assassinate-" "Nope! This conversation isn't happening. Good day, Commander!"

Hey, Jamie! Requesting time again because…. It’s fun for both of us.
Anyways May i please have prompt #18 (i think it’s 18?) “watch me” with Wolffe and Dhole being typical siblings and stuff? Please? And your pick of adding angst or gore or fluff or whatever.
Thank you so much, sincerely, Sha 🫡
HELL YEAH I DID THIS SUPER FAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HERE YOU GO, ITS FLUFF
AND INTRODUCING.. THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE GUARD!!!!!!!!!
TYSM SO MUCH FOR THE REQUEST SHA!!!!! I HOPE YOU GET SOME SLEEP!!!!
Dhole giggled as he bounded through the streets of Spiriole, excitedly calling out Wollfe’s name. The Commander turned to him from where he was standing by the doors to the hall that the town had insisted the army stay in. “Wolffe! Wolffe!” He cried out again and the Commander sighed, dismissing the trooper he was talking with.
“Yes, Dhole?” Wolffe asked, rolling his eyes but with a fond smile. The ARC Trooper tugged off his helmet to reveal his huge grin and messy hair.
“I have something to show you!” Dhole told him excitedly, beckoning him to join him. Wolffe rolled his eyes and put his helmet on in an attempt to hide his smile from the younger.
Dhole led him through the winding street roads and to the outskirts where the poorer people were located. On the way, Wolffe noticed how many of them exchanged greetings, smiles and waves with Dhole, as if they were all great friends.
“Here,” Dhole told him, stopping in his tracks in front of a dark alley. Wolffe raised an eyebrow that Dhole couldn’t see. “Promise not to freak?” He reached out his pinky finger.
“Promise,” Wolffe told him playfully, interlocking their pinkies. Dhole grasped his wrist and dragged him into the alley, rounding a corner before letting out a shrill whistle. A trash can in front of them toppled over and something rolled out of it - Wolffe reached for his blaster instinctively but froze when Dhole bent down. The younger scooped up the tiny creature and turned to Wolffe, who gaped at him.
Curled up in Dhole’s arms was a puppy Charhound, its dark eyes round with adorableness. Dhole ran his fingers through the short black fur and rubbed the puppy’s ears, giving Wolffe the same eyes the puppy was giving him.
“Can I keep him?” The Clone pleaded as the puppy whimpered, curling up into Dhole’s chest closer and giving Wolffe a glimpse at the gleaming and glowing orange stripes on its belly.
“Absolutely not,” Wolffe deadpanned, refusing to meet Dhole’s wide, pleading eyes. The younger gasped and held the puppy closer to him, giving Wolffe his best huge, adorable eyes.
“Please, Ori’vod,” he begged as he cradled the puppy. “We can’t just leave Ashling here!”
“You named the blasted thing!?” Wolffe growled, rolling his eyes as he tried to pretend his younger brother was Comet or Sinker instead - who were a lot easier to say no to. Dhole had these huge, sad eyes that no one could say no to.
“Hey!” Dhole cried out, turning his side to the older to hide the puppy. “Don’t call him that! His name is Ashling!”
Wolffe rolled his eyes. “It’s really not up to me anyways, how do you suppose you’d sneak it on board and then into the Guard’s barracks, huh?”
“First up,” Dhole began, shooting him a deadly glare that made Wolffe feel instantly guilty. “He’s a he not an it. Secondly, I could train him like a Mastiff!”
Wolffe rolled his eyes again, picturing the exhausted look on Fox’s face. “I don’t think Rex or Cody would let you bring him on board.”
“Anakin would.”
“Yeah, well how about the Admiral?”
“I will get him on board,” Dhole snarled, lip curled as he held Ashling close to his chest protectively. “Watch me.”
Wolffe sighed as he looked closer at the Charhound. He was unusually skinny - even for his breed - and his eyes looked droopy with exhaustion. One of Ashling’s ears was floppier than the other, and his tail fur was uneven and scraggly. “Fine.”
“Really?!”
“Don’t ask again, I might change my mind.”
“Heck yeah!” Dhole cheered, holding Ashling up so their noses were touching. “Here that Ashling? I’m going to take you home! You can live with me!” He giggled as the puppy licked his face happily, squealing at the feeling.
Wolffe smiled and chuckled as he left the alley, his puppy of a brother and the puppy he’d adopted following behind him.
HOPE YOU ENJOYED
REQUEST PEOPLE!!!!!!!

here's a fun but weird one, how about Olly and Wolffe?
The Wolf and the Turtle
Summary: A story's moral is only as good as the context its provided with...
[Not gonna lie, this one threw me for a bit of a loop. Mostly because Olly is... Very hard to capture in the sense that the way he sees certain people can come off as quite scornful. Especially any of the other Guardsmen's batchmates.]
---
There's a strange old story that Olly kind of remembers hearing some time ago, when he was still a very young cadet on Kamino.
He doesn't remember from where exactly he heard it. If it was from a trainer or a brother. In the barracks during rack time, or the refectory during morning meal. It didn't really matter in the end.
But he does know that it had been back when he was still small enough to fit comfortably in his older brothers's arms. Safe and sound from the many horrors that had yet to come their way.
The story he remembers, brief as it may be, went as such:
There once were a fox and a wolf who were the greatest of friends. And, although they could not ask for much more in their simple forest life, the much smaller and less imposing fox was overly dependent of the bigger and stronger wolf. Something which did not escape the latter's notice.
One day, no longer willing to provide for himself and the fox, the wolf began to deceive his old friend. Pretending to take ill while hunting in secret so that his friend might not take a share that, in the wolf's eyes, he did not earn. Something which the fox had quickly realized and was infuriated by.
The story, Olly thought even now, did not end very nicely. Fox and wolf, once greatest of friends, ending up dead by the hands of 3rd parties. Their serene friendship soured over some meat that they could both have very easily shared, without either of their survivals ever being at stake.
But whoever had been telling the tale hadn't really cared for what he'd thought on the matter. What they'd done was stress on the supposed moral the story provided.
"We should never be like the evil fox, who used the wolf for his own needs!" They had claimed with great conviction. "We should always be loyal to each other, and never betray those who's trust we hold!"
Throughout his stay on Coruscant, Olly has learned that there are many stories and cautionary tales in which both foxes and wolves are often portrayed as villainous beings.
The fox, cunning and sly, a trickster sent to fool the less fortunate. The wolf, powerful and fierce, a brute destined to devour innocence.
That he knows of (and he's no expert really, but he can only know what he knows), only one has both as proper protagonists. And somehow, despite the hopeful beginning, the fox is always the selfish villain that all should hate. The boogeyman that leads them both to their untimely demise.
The story serves its purpose, he supposes, if you're not paying attention to the finer details. Or simply don't care to ask the right questions. But it bothers Olly to no end that no one ever really points the finger at the wolf.
The wolf who was bigger and more capable than the physically weaker fox, and who instead is suddenly elevated onto a position where he becomes cleverer than his friend. Until he is not.
The fox is always the villain. Always to blame. It echoes a reality that Olly scorns.
None can deny that Commander Wolffe is an imposing man. Often spoken of as noble, resourceful, passionate and highly considerate of other's needs before his own. Willing to speak his mind and defend others, even when faced with troubles bigger than himself.
Olly has heard his praise sung high by not just the men of the 104th, but the men of the 212th and 501st as well. Or any belligerent Frontie that ends up dragged kicking and screaming to the drunk tank, after one drink too many at 79's. And truly, this is a sentiment he understands. He too would commend his superior officer in most floral prose if he could.
Perhaps play a ballad on his guitar, and howl the notes like a drunken coyote enamored by the moon's greatness. But doing so on Coruscant is a death wish if you wear red. So he keeps his lips sealed and his ori'vod's virtues safe in secrecy. Because Commander Fox is only loved in secret. Otherwise the Guardsmen's regular confrontations with Frontliners would be much much worse...
Yes, Commander Wolffe has the open adoration of many for his much more open affections. Ones that he can recklessly shower his men with, without ever really needed to know their names. But he is not more clever than Fox, nor more loving either. And this, Olly knows, is where in lays the problem.
Because, like many of his ilk, Wolffe does not recognize Fox's brand of love as being love. Doesn't understand the risks he takes to love and protect them all individually and equally. So, because he and his particular breed of clone do not understand Fox's love, they claim him devoid of it. Devoid of brotherhood.
Here's something else Olly once heard on Kamino when he was still a cadet. A most peculiar saying that a trainer had uttered during an exercise that required a precise tactical approach:
'One fox can outsmart ten dozen wolves.'
He finds it to be ironically true in this instance. Because he's on drunk tank duty and he's staring down at the man everyone says is a better brother than Fox. And Olly doesn't believe any of them. Doesn't see whatever it is that they see.
No might, no resourcefulness, not even an ounce of respectfulness.
Not when the 104th commander, face tinted red from drinking himself into blind stupidity, doesn't even seem to understand the basics of loyalty when he's not plastered. Or, at the very least, seems just as much at a loss over what loyalty means, as the rest of his batch. It makes Olly sick to think his ori'vod had ever trusted this treacherous sheep of a man.
Nothing hurt more than being betrayed by a brother you thought had your back. Had sworn to have your back. No matter what.
"What're you looking at? Uh?!" Alcohol loosens lips. Sobriety tightens them. The scowl he continues to level at the 104th commander is felt even through Olly's visor.
"..." He doesn't deign to give him any sort of answer. The dumb bastard doesn't deserve one. Will never deserve one. Not as long as the turtle is around to bare the grudge that the fox refuses to hold.

They’d always known one or the other of them would end up in this position, the two most politically strategic clone commanders in the entire army.
They were the ones to organize and assign the sectors of responsibility below them, and had done their best to put the best combinations of clones together, following reams of training recommendations.
Their own training recommendations sit innocently before them. Scores, equal. Prowess, matched. Citations, neck and neck.
Neither of them want the Capital Guard, but neither do they want to inflict it upon the other.
They have gone over every line item and found neither of them has an edge, no justification to swing the decision one way or the other. They agree that they cannot agree.
“Let’s flip for it,” Fox finally says.
Cody stares at him, anguish and stubbornness in his eyes, before he picks up a circular token, the sort they’ve been using to weigh down flimsi and denote units. The top is engraved.
Without a word, he takes a deep breath and flips it into the air, high, higher. As it spins, glittering, Fox thinks, I should have done it.
“Call it,” Cody orders, hand clamped over the piece on his wrist. “Call this one for yourself, and the next flip will be for the unit.”
“Tails,” Fox says right away.
Cody lifts his hand. “Tails,” he repeats, showing it to Fox. “Call again.”
He starts to flick it up a second time, and Fox steps toward him, saying, “Let me—”
“No, you cardsharp, call it,” Cody snaps, the piece still in midair.
“Heads for Trip Zip,” Fox says, and tries to be the one to catch it. Both tosses shouldn’t be on one man’s conscience. But Cody shoulders him out of the way and snatches it out of the air, slapping it onto his gloved hand with more spite than is necessary.
He stares at Fox, not lifting his hand. “Maybe we should redo this one,” he offers chidingly, “and you keep your hands to yourself this time.”
“Just show it,” Fox snaps, frustrated. “It doesn’t matter anyway.”
Cody steels himself and lifts his hand away, seeming torn between looking and not, as though the token might take after Schrödinger’s Tooka.
Fox has no such compunction. He takes in the smooth circular surface, and then looks up at his brother’s unreadable face. “Congratulations, Cody, Commander of the Coruscant Guard.”
“Congratulations, Fox, Marshal Commander of the GAR,” Cody echoes softly.
“Are you okay?” Fox asks. “I swear I didn’t cheat. Do you want to redo it? We can.”
“No,” Cody says, “no, I’m fine. I know you didn’t. It’s—it’ll be alright.”
“Do you want—”
“We’re done,” Cody says levelly, setting down the token and nudging the last of the flimsi and datapads into order. Fox gets a flash of him, older, doing that somewhere in a little office on a dreary city-planet. “I’m going off duty, and I’ll see you later.”
He inputs the final two personnel allocations, sets the holotable’s tamper lock, and looks Fox in the eyes, warning clear. Then he about faces and leaves the war room.

Heya everyone just wanted to say I will be making two Undertale multiverse comic series one named dani-verse and the other named multiversal madness but let's talk about dani-verse so basically in dani-verse the roles of some out code will be switched though some of them keep their personalities while others will have completely new ones and their names will be changed such as:
Nightmare/nighty: ink's role he guards aus and help those who are in need
Dream: he keeps his role though he looks more like shattered dream
Fresh/fash: error's role though he doesn't destroy au's he just collects and corrupts them
Ink/inquid: nightmare's role he loves chaos
Error/gell(a mix of geno and kill): killer's role he works for inquid
Player:they take the role of core frisk in this multiverse
Now for characters that don't switch roles with anyone
XI TALE CAST (XI TALE was inspired by xtale by @jakei95 ):
XI TALE GASTER:he is often referred to as river gaster because he wears a cloak similar to the river person he has a red monster soul and an ability known as OVERRIDE,owns the 11th timeline of XI TALE
XI TALE FRISK: acts like Xchara though has some of x frisk personality as well as us chara, owns the 11th timeline of XI TALE
XI TALE CHARA: has the personality of x frisk though he mostly acts like Asriel and throws a temper tantrum when he doesn't get his way, owns the 11th timeline of XI TALE
XI TALE SANS: he acts like the normal sans would he is the judge and has special karma that instead of doing more damage depending on LV it does damage depending on DT,he owns a hot dog kart but despite that he sells burgers
XI TALE PAPYRUS: his personality is far from the original papyrus,he still believes in pacifism but he will kill if absolutely necessary he is the commander of the royal guard and the royal scientist as well,he has two special eyes given to him by XI TALE GASTER causing him to develop those gaster marks on his eyes
XI TALE UNDYNE: general of the royal guard she was trained under papyrus for thirty years(XI TALE papyrus is older than undyne) she has an immense amount of determination with said determination being comparable to that of a human, she has a chill personality and likes to watch anime though she prefers manga (for those wondering her favorite anime is DBZ (rip toriama))
XI TALE GERSON: captain of the royal guard, he is referred to as the heroic hammer or the hammer of justice, has determination but not a lot,he owns a shop and he's pretty chill
XI TALE CLOVER:a human that was spared and trained to become a royal guard but he's a trainee do not yet an official royal guard,he was adopted by a bird monster named marlo,he has a shy personality though believes in justice
Alphys: papyrus' assistant she takes the role of royal scientist when papyrus isn't around
Asriel:the prince of the monster race,he is the little brother of frisk and Chara,he often follows the royal guard on missions to make sure their chance of winning is 150%,he has dt and it is much more than undyne, can save and load but can't reset
Asgore:king of the monsters,he is very powerful, almost as powerful as XI TALE GASTER he can use blue and orange attacks and utilizes them in battle, his trident is red because it is made of determination
Toriel:the queen of monsters, she rules the monsters alongside asgore, she is the one who found and adopted frisk and Chara in the 11th timeline
Mettaton: a robot made by alphys for entertainment and this one is an actual robot not a ghost given a robot body though papyrus took the soul of a dying monster and put it in the robot body so yh
Napstablook: the same as the original, nothing's changed
Now for some other au's that don't switch roles
Dust/murder made by @ask-dusttale
UnderVow made by cool-kid-mun on discord or ThomasTheCoolKid on YouTube or AO3
Classic!sans(by toby fox)
Classic!frisk(by toby fox)
Horror swap papyrus and sans(don't know who made them lol)
Horror sans and papyrus by sour apple studios
AND MANY MORE....
Welp that's the end of this post see ya!

'Cute' was not a word Bail would've used for himself.
No one else really did, either. His mother had started calling him her 'handsome boy' pretty exclusively before he had hit four, and Bail had not thought anything about it, only that it had definitely made him feel bigger and older. Which was a lot, since he had at that point been as tall as Rouge, who had just turned seven.
He had not though about it at all until he was a couple of weeks shy of nineteen and holding Breha's hand on their evening walk. He raised his brow when Breha suddenly glanced down at their hands and laughed softly under her breath.
"What's so funny?" He asked.
"Nothing", Breha answered. "I just like how you always want to hold hands. It's cute."
Bail also looked down at their hands. Did he? He supposed he did. He still held hands with Tia a lot of the time when they were out, and touches like that just were a thing in their household. That was how they showed affection, and Bail was happy Breha liked it as well.
"That's good", he said, not able to contain a smile spreading on his face. Breha smiled back, and glanced back down at their hands, before looking Bail straight in the eye.
"You're cute", she said, and Bail suddenly felt very hot on his face.
"Oh", he managed to say. "Thank you?"
Breha laughed softly again, and squeezed his hand.
Bail thought about it for the rest of the week.
---
Bail stared himself at the mirror.
"That's a contemplating look if I've ever seen one", Breha said. Bail sighed.
"I am contemplating", he said. "...does this make me look too...wide?"
He was not usually the one to be self-conscious about his appearance, but even he had his low points. Preparing for his first appearance as Alderaan's Senator was, apparently, one of them.
Breha gave him a look.
"I don't think you can be "too" much of anything", she hummed. "Especially when it comes to your own body. But, I think you look good. Very dashing and robust."
That got an unintentional laugh out of Bail.
"Robust?" He asked, raising his brow.
"Yes. Strong and hale", Breha said. She walked up next to him. She looked tiny compared to him, in her sleek and light home dress.
Bail saw her look a little bit more intensely at their reflection.
"Of course I'm a bit biased", she said. "I like you being tall and broad, and don't mind at all when something accentuates that."
"Thank you", Bail said. "I was just thinking, since I'm already the tallest person in every room I walk into. I wouldn't want to look too imposing."
"You won't", Breha said without hesitation. "You look too kind for that."
She turned to look at him proper.
"The only tiny downside of your height is that I can't see your cute face all the time straight on", she said.
She smirked when Bail didn't quite manage to fight back the flush.
"You're doing that on purpose", he accused.
Breha tilted her head.
"Yes", she said. "And I can see it's working."
She laughed as Bail picked her up and pressed kisses on her face.
---
"You work too much", Fox said.
"I'm sure", Bail answered. He bit back a laugh when Fox sighed loudly.
"Yes", Fox said, and flopped down next to him. He wouldn't be staying the whole night in the Cantham house, as it was too far away from the base and he had a shift the next morning, but Bail still enjoyed every moment of every opportunity he had of having Fox in his home. "You work way too much. You're too handsome to work that much."
He brushed, a bit clumsily, Bail's hair away from his face. Now Bail did let out a low laugh.
"Thank you", he said. "I appreciate your opinion on that, though I think the wine is making you exaggerate a bit."
It was making Fox slightly uncoordinated and hazy-eyed. Bail had not thought about the fact that his position as the Commander of the Guard didn't leave Fox with a lot of downtime, and definitely not enough downtime for him to get drunk, like many of his brothers did while they were on Coruscant. The wine they had had earlier that evening had hit Fox a bit harder than was intended.
Fox almost pouted.
"It's not", he said, and sat back up, leaning over Bail slightly. "I'm very correct."
"Of course you are, my love", Bail said, though the amused grin on his face was probably not selling his words to Fox at that moment.
"I am!" Fox said, tapping Bail at his forehead. "You are way too cute to be working so much!"
Oh. Bail had mostly gotten over being embarrassed of how much of an effect such a little word could have on him, but now it hit him on full force again.
"I-" he started, only to be instantly interrupted.
"Way too cute!" Fox repeated. "It should be illegal! I need to call Breha and tell her that she needs to make it a law-"
"Oh, no, no, you don't need to do that right now", Bail hurried to sit up as well as Fox leaned away and started reaching for his commlink. "You can talk to Breha tomorrow, alright? She's probably sleeping already."
Fox blinked a couple of times.
"Oh, right", he said, and turned away from the commlink. He took one look at Bail's face and frowned. "Are you okay? You look very dark on your face."
Oh, Bail was sure he did.
"I'm fine", he said. "How about we lay down for a moment, before I take you back to the base?"
Fox didn't say anything for a moment. He kept staring at Bail, with his brow furrowed, until suddenly his eyes seemed to clear up a bit.
"I see", he said. "Is it because I called you cute?"
He squinted his eyes at Bail when Bail failed to answer immediately.
"Maybe?" Bail knew he was done when Fox slowly nodded at that.
"I see", he said, again. "Interesting."
"It's definitely way too interesting for your current state", Bail said. "Now, lay down, please."
Fox nodded again, and did lay down, though he kept staring at Bail very intently the whole time. He reached his hand, and lightly brushed his fingers over Bail's cheekbone.
"Interesting", he said under his breath, and Bail knew that this wouldn't be the last he heard about this.
---
Three weeks later, Fox, this time completely sober and clear intention in his eyes, partially climbed over Bail and leaned close.
"Cute", he said, and pressed a feather light kiss on the corner of Bail's mouth. He smirked so smugly at Bail's rapidly warming face that one would've thought he had just won the war all by himself.
That first kiss was definitely the last light touch for the night. Bail was sure that had been the intention all along.

One has not known stubbornness until they have had to work with Commander Cody when he is in a Fett 'I don wanna' Mood(TM).
Whereas Cody gets upset that everyone is under the impression that he has the sane Jedi General, he really wishes they only knew the truth, Obi-Wan is over there filled with the wish that he had picked the other Golden Clone and gone with Rex.
Oh, Cody is certainly a well-behaved Marshal Commander.
Gree gets distracted with nerd things, which was always just fine by Luminara and Barriss who always brought him books about ancient societies. Cody would say thank for the General's new linguist book, but he wouldn't pick it up until he needed to clear his head.
Fox always had too much energy and couldn't stand being stuck in his office for too long, which means he sometimes had to torture himself to get through his paperwork. He ate everyone's leftovers like they were his. Cody was diligent and did his in a timely manner, often reminding the officers under his command of their schedules. Cody was also very good about respecting people's property, and gracious when others shared with him.
Bacara would become anti-social in bouts and hole himself up, at least until his mood settled. Cody might not be quite as warm and friendly as Rex, but he certainly was capable of being easy-going enough when it was appropriate.
Wolffe apologized too much and needed to be reassured more than he should. Unless his pride got in the way, Cody never had a hard time taking accountability for his actions and was rather self-assured.
However...
When Cody had had enough, for whatever reason and no one was quite very good at predicting when it would happen, Cody was less so an unstoppable force and more so... the immovable object, if that immovable object was the size of a planetary space body. Once he decided that no, he wasn't going to do a thing—he wasn't going to do it. He had the stubbornness to get a Jedi Cruiser moving again after its engines had failed.
The man didn't just dig his heels in. Cody dug vast networks of trenches because... No.
When Kenobi and Cody both activated the stubborn bastard streak and if it butted heads, Rex, Anakin, Ahsoka, Waxer, Boil, would just slowly back away... further... further... no, further, the blast radius is unpredictable and usually has some sort of radiation fall-out.
There was only one thing that outperformed Cody's sheer Force of Will, fortunately... or unfortunately, for it was a power that could have been used for good—at least to keep Obi-Wan from forming so many extra toes on his crow's feet...
It usually went like this:
Cody looked back at his datapad and went back to reading his plan, "Rex, you'll take—"
"No."
It was a tone as rare from the source that made it, and one that Cody had only heard a few times. It was unbelievable and almost stunned him into a protracted silence.
Slowly, Cody lifted his head and stared at the Captain. It was a face that could have carved mountains, and it was directed... at him. That's fine, Cody only to use his I'm Older Brother And Your Commander Voice to remind Rex to fall into line. Rex was the reasonable one. The patient one. The dutiful and always easily obedient. The man seemed immune from any signs of the usual stubbornness any of them had.
Cody's voice dipped lower, and he slowly cautioned, "Captain—"
"No."
Obi-Wan's blue eyes twinkled in merriment. He leaned over to a startled Jesse, "I love this part."
Waxer looked pale, "I think we're about to witness a Clone Civil War."
Anakin tried to slowly turn away while he muttered, "It won't be very civil."
Ahsoka sighed, "I think those two are about to use their heads as battering rams on each other."

Fox can’t resist PA we all knew that 😏
He can not. He's a little pathetic when it comes to them. But that's okay because every strong man needs someone they're a little pathetic about.
It must be a kind of funny thing to see, Fox decides after the first few interviewees look between him and Yuu in absolute bewilderment. Yuu, after all, it tiny. The top of their head reaches his collar bone, and he knows they come by it honestly because Yuu's dad barely comes up to his chin. They're just a petite family. But with Yuu sitting on his knees and dealing with the majority of the interviewing, he has to wonder if the men and women that are being interviews think that Yuu is their boss rather than him. Stars, he hopes so. He doesn't need more people to manage. "What do you think, little bird? Anyone catch your eye?" Fox asks during a short break while they wait for the next batch of applicants to arrive. "Mm. They're all very...young." They say slowly. Fox releases a laugh, "Says the person who became the most influential person on Coruscant when they were 18." "Yeah, but..." There's a line between their brows, "My job isn't dangerous, all things considered. This is." Fox reaches up and lightly rubs the line off of their brow with his thumb, "It's not like they're going to be out there on their own. They're going to be working with some of my brothers." "...Mm...that's true..." Yuu pauses, "Honestly, I'm more concerned by the fact that not a single one of them has questioned that I'm the one doing the interviews." Fox grimaces, "I don't mind if they think you're in charge, because you are. I answer directly to you and no one else, but-" "But there's a difference to you calling me a 1 am because you need me to deal with a problem, and one of them calling me because they don't know the chain of command." Yuu finishes. Fox opens his mouth to reply, but stops when the door clicks open and an older man walks into the room. He pauses, looks at Yuu, and then at Fox, and then at Yuu again. He's a human man, probably in his early 40s, with his hair starting to gray, "Good morning," He says slowly, "My name is Robert Dayne. I was told that all current Fire Captains need to speak with the new Commander." His gaze flickers over to Fox, "That would be you, sir?" Yuu and Fox share a look, "That would be me, yes." Fox says, "You're the first Captain to come and visit, Captain Dayne." "Yes Sir, Today's my day off." "Ah, apologies then." Fox replies, "Yuu-" "Mm...Maybe virtual interviews?" They offer, "I'll think on it." "Have a seat captain," Fox says as Yuu hands him his resume, "I just have a few questions. You needn't worry, this isn't an interview, it's just me making sure I know the men who do work under me." Captain Dayne relaxes, "Yes sir."

Can you please do Rex for the headcannons thing?
Here are my top headcannons for Rex!
My all time favorite headcannon for Rex is that he was unofficially adopted by the commander class clones when they were cadets and they literally all love him.
I also love the headcannon that Rex had to work harder than most clones to prove he deserves his rank/respect/etc. I don’t even care if the reasoning is because he was born a CT and therefore has to work harder, or if it’s because he was born blond and is therefore ‘defective’ and had to work harder. I just love the headcannon.
I am a firm “Rex is a natural blond” believer.
Rex adopts strays. It’s his thing, and always has been, even when he was just a kid. This is why his squad is made up of clones like Fives and Echo, Dogma, Tup, Hardcase. He sees clones that don’t really fit in elsewhere and adopts them into his own lil circle, and makes them feel valued and welcomed.
That being said, he has a special attachment to Echo and Fives. He is literally the embodiment of “couldn’t be prouder older brother” to the domino twins. He adopted them, taught them how to fight, got them to ARC training, and kept up with them even when they weren’t stationed together. He brags about them so much that the other officers literally have to tell him to shut up.
Also on point 4, he 100% adopts the Bad Batch after their mission. They were slow to get along, but by the end of it they are definitely adopted. Can’t do shit about it boys, you’ve been adopted by a reg. This has very little if anything to do with Echo being in the squad now.
His favorite commander is Cody, because he’s the only one of the commander-class clones to treat him like an equal brother rather than a little brother. He does love the rest (even Fox) and being their little brother, but he loves being Cody’s brother.
He is 101% done with Anakin and his stupid not-secret marriage. He loves Padame tho she’s awesome.
Ahsoka is his favorite. Don’t tell Anakin. (He just loves his little sister so much and would do anything to protect her. He literally was inconsolable when she left the order.)
Rex is the least formal officer in the GAR and no one can convince me otherwise. He definitely tells all the shinies to just call him Rex off the field and pretends to be annoyed when people call him sir. Who’s general skywalker? Oh, you mean Anakin? Cody you’ll never guess what my idiot Jedi did this time. Etc.

Forgive me (Echo x Medic Reader) Part 6
Tumblr media
Warning: None, just a little bit of light teasing
Words: 1.6K
:readmore:
"Will you just ask her already" commented Fives, looking to the trooper so often branded as his twin? Jesse was nearby along with Hardcase, both of them nodding along. Jesse had long since grown tired of Echo's flirting, even more so to watch the Arc Trooper make a fool of himself. Yet none the less, he encouraged all his brothers to find love.
"Kix" called Hardcase, a sharp chuckle escaping from his chest. "How's your little task going?" asked the hyperactive trooper, a mischief glint in his eyes. Something that didn't go unnoticed by Echo. The Arc Trooper shot a dread-filled look between Kix, Fives, and Hardcase, Rex close by also looking between the group, although his eyes glimmered with curiosity, a small amount of mischief sprinkled in. Kix soon looked up from the datapad he'd been reading over, checking over the list of supplies that needed ordering before the 501st shipped out again.
"You mean trying to convince Snap to give this idiot a chance right?" questioned Kix, a cheeky grin coming to his lips mere seconds later, a soft chuckle escaping him soon after. Even more so when he saw the horror pass over Echo's features. Almost as if the idea of (Y/N) knowing about his crush on her, was a nightmare come true. Fives stood close by, for the first time at a loss for words, although it suddenly made sense by Kix had been hanging back at the medbay when Snap was there.
"Makes you wonder what the Wolf Pack thinks of it" announced Jesse, he could recall coming across Comet during the last trip to 79's. The Wolf Pack in their normal booth, howling every now and again. That being a rare occasion Wolffe seemed to be letting his guard down and enjoying himself, although he was still keeping a close watch on the boys. Comet had asked Jesse how Snap was doing, asking if the boys of 501st were treating her right, and if she'd punched anyone yet. Jesse had answered the questions, at the time he'd been tempted to divulge the information about Echo's secret crush, but soon thought better of it. Especially when Echo was so determined his little crush, firmly in the secrecy aisle, determined he was going to put his duty as a soldier before his own feelings and desires.
"Think of Wolffe as the protective older brother" called Rex, knowing Wolffe had truly taken to (Y/N), as had a few others who had the delight of working with the civvi medic. A chuckle escaped Rex upon recalling an incident that had landed the tough Commander in the military cells for the night. Octavius had been hassling (Y/N) throughout her downtime on Coruscant, constantly bugging her and not seeming to get the hint she didn't want to be around him let alone talk to him. Wolffe in his drunken state had punched the civvi, although he'd been taken back to the military base by Fox, the other Commander had simply told Wolffe to sleep it off and hadn't reported anything.
"We both have a duty to do" voiced Echo, finally regaining his confidence and will to speak. "Plus I'm a clone, we don't have the luxury of choosing what we do. Of having the freedom to love and live a life outside of the war" elaborated the Arc Trooper. Not seeing the way Rex look down, clearly remembering Cut, who had willingly chosen to desert the Republic and the war in general, he'd chosen to live peacefully on a faraway planet, as a farmer, with a wife and kids. To those who knew of Cut, they considered him to be by far the bravest of the clones, as he'd gone out there and gotten what he wanted, he made something out of his life, that was more than existing only so he could die in a war, only so he could become another name few in the republic would care to remember.
"Ever think maybe Snap is just waiting on you?" asked Cody for the corner of the durasteel room, the room itself acting like an echo chamber and bouncing his otherwise calm voice around. The room soon fell into silence. Rex looked in the direction Cody's voice come from, whereas Echo and Fives both seemed to freeze in their position. Hardcase on the other hand soon began to move around again, his hyperactive nature preventing him from staying still longer than a few seconds. Jesse on the other merely shook his head before beginning to clean his blaster, a ritual he did before and after every battle, in a way it settled his nerves.
"I forgot to ask, where is Snap?" asked Hardcase, bouncing on the spot now, Kix was close by, finishing the order for the medical supplies, already guessing Rex had finished his own ordering, for the extra blasters, ammo and plastoid armor they were always in need of. The rations too.
"She's attending her sister's wedding. Although reluctantly" responded Kix, recalling (Y/N) hadn't been excited about the wedding, if anything she appeared to be the opposite. She had dread in her eyes as she all but dragged herself to leave the military base the day prior. Almost as if she knew the wedding wasn't going to be any fun, but another way for Isolde to torment her further. Another way for her eldest sister to show off and make fun of others. "She'll be back the day after tomorrow unless we get another mission before then" added Kix.
"Fine, I'll ask her when we return from the Citadel assignment" sighed Echo, finally surrendering to what his brothers had been encouraging him to do for weeks on end. Fives could only grin from next to him, patting his twin on the shoulder, resisting the urge to let the comment that come to mind pass through his lips. Maybe Snap would give him a kiss for good luck.
"I'll hold you to that" announced Fives, her cheeky grin remaining unmoved. "If you don't then I'm setting you two up on a blind date" commented the Arc Trooper, chuckling as Echo practically begged him not to do it. "Or Hardcase would just outright tell her" added Fives, Hardcase confirming he would do just that, a second later with a small comment Damn right I would.
"Would be nice to see her smile again" whispered Echo, admitting a truth he was determined few others would know. He knew Tup was right about a few things, such as (Y/N) being a civvi thrust she was free to love as she pleased, something the Jedi were forbidden from doing, even if most had broken the code at some point or another. Yet at the same time, Snap had also proven there were some rules even she found ridiculous, such as the troopers not having proper representation in the Senate, despite them being on the front lines of the war and constantly making the biggest sacrifices.
"Who would have guessed Snap would have been the one to get our Echo to break the rules" commented Cody, now from beside Rex. At some point, he'd quietly made his way over. The great Captain attempted to hide the shadow of a smirk, fighting to appear on his lips. Although he was unsure which had tickled him more, Cody being under the impression Echo hadn't broken any of the rules before, or Echo being secretly willing to discard the rules when it come to Snap.
"You act like Echo isn't already a rule breaker. Rex normally has to retrieve him and Fives from the cells after a night of drinking" voiced Jesse from the opposite side of the room, not bothering to hide the enjoyment he was getting out of the situation at hand or miss the chance to tease Echo that bit more. Fives soon chuckled, recalling Rex had been down to the military prison that many times, all he had to say now is I'm here for my Arc Troopers.
"I recall having to get you from those cells as well. Most recent one being after you thought it would be a good idea to stand up while piloting a speeder" quickly replied Rex, chuckling to see Jesse's cheeks begin to heat up, although he was drunk at the time, it was clear the trooper recalled what had taken place. It still amazed Rex, no one was hurt and no accidents had been coursed. Although there were a few angry citizens and police droids involved.
"Wait, Jesse got arrested again? Where we me and Echo at the time" asked Fives, amazement lacing his voice to think he'd missed something like that. Or at least hadn't heard about it until now. Echo soon began to chuckle, it quickly registering with him, they were likely already residents of the military prison by that time. Especially if Rex's deadpan expression was anything to go by.
"Already tucked into the cell that's reserved for us" laughed Echo in response, watching as the realization washed over Fives, and how Kix looked over as it was obvious where the pair were. Even Hardcase had an expression that asked if Fives was serious with his question. Cody and Rex on the other hand merely chuckled to themselves. A comment escaping Cody, regarding Snap being able to keep the boys in order. Another escaping him suggesting it was something he wanted to bare witness to if it ever happened.
At the same time, Cody began to wonder what the angelic medic would be like when working with some of the others, including the unorthodox Clone Force 99. She'd already shown she could handle the toughest, just as Snap had proven she wasn't afraid to flirt back with those who would find the courage to flirt with her. Especially Gregor.
