On the subject of gotham county line and batman noel and so on and so forth it’s pretty frustrating (from a watsonian pov) that anytime Bruce hallucinates Jason being loving/ caring/helpful/compassionate towards him it’s always as robin and never as his current self

#it's ironic because Jason as robin never got the chance to become as obedient & devoted (malleable) to Bruce as he currently is #which is a result of being abused/manipulated for a more prolonged period of time #“maybe if I try harder and do it right this time he'll finally see the truth” #classic abuse tactic #no matter how well the victim fits the mold set by the abuser they’ll never acknowledge it #rather if they see you trying they’ll push harder and tell you you’re not perfect #the small shreds of affection here and there are important for motivating the victim to keep trying #kelseethe #Jason initiating the hug in rhato 27 after Bruce insinuated that those beatings will be a regular occurence bc he deems it a necessity #continuing to support Bruce even after Ethiopia and sticking around to help get Damian back #eagerly cooperating with Bruce + co in event leviathan then getting surprise pikachu faced/hurt after being betrayed #making a conscious decision to comfort Bruce in gotham war after Bruce fucked him up and left him behind #having undying conern for Bruce's wellbeing while Bruce regularly endangers his life #ex. Bruce's weird habit of committing vehicular assault on Jason whenever they're on the road demonstrated both in tfz and gotham war #point being: Jason was much more psychologically fit to be defiant towards Bruce when he was robin compared to now #he's more of a “good son”™ now than he was as robin Bruce is just too used to thinking whatever he wants and never being satisfied #the only times Jason got mad/upset at Bruce during one issue and continued to stay mad until the next #other than lost days and utrh was batman 410-411 and early in aditf before Bruce helps Jason find Sheila #so much worse has happened since then and all that just magically became water under the bridge off-panel

I tried at first to fit his arms in anyway but they looked too short so I left it as i #Besides those two things I think it's okay. #i committed to working out again (as of like a week ago) which I do sincerely need to do #but even post recovery I like. see muscles move under my skin and I remember what they looked like when they were so developed #and I had zero body fat then lmao. like Back In The Day i would be so thin I could look at this #*those muscles when I was even getting up from a chair. #I could see the contour of their boundaries (?) and even my ligaments/tendons sometimes. thru my skin. bc I was so thin #and when I look at my legs and arms move forward sometimes that’s all I can #think about. ‘u used to be able to see that move under ur skin but u can’t now bc there’s too much fat in the way’ #I should be talking about this with a therapist I guess but I hate all of them and I don’t have a billion dollars and a whole decade to spen #*spend finding The Right One who is a good fit and is trained in this stuff specifically and can actually help me #idk what I’m even saying here anymore whatever I’m just…. ugh fuck.

surprise! had another weird dream again!! and just like last time rob was there with a different design.

i saw him in a blue supermarket this time. he was incredibly alarmed at the fact that i was happy to see him and wanted to talk to him. he just kept saying that he wasn't the person i was thinking of and insisting that i must have mistaken him for someone else (which, to be fair looking at him now, he was probably right)

that conversation then led into a whole musical number about how he wasn't really that special or important. what was weird is that 1) he wasn't doing any of the singing, it was other characters singing about him and him occasionally chiming in to confirm what they were saying and 2) he was sort of just. passively resigned during the whole thing? he wasnt mad that they thought of him like this, it was very weird.

#The Sun and The Void #aroaessidhe 2023 reads #hm. haha. surface level this is kinda interesting and cool but i am going to follow with so many complaints #though I feel like it didn’t go into the magic or worldbuilding as much as I wanted and it felt irrelevant to the characters #like how does the magic even work? idk man #though I feel like it didn’t go into it as much as I wanted and it felt irrelevant to the characters #very slow to start and the pacing is weird. it would also go ages without having the other POV. very disjointed? #it felt like the first 60% was just context for the group of characters getting together as a group and then it was a bit predisposed with #They’re A Group! even tho. they're barely a group for long #the authors note mentions that the story concept started with a line about the god and ritual and…..yeah I can kind of tell #I feel like everything was built up around it in a way that ultimately that part didn’t fit right #I never bought that any of them were actually like fully committed to the evil dark magic? and also there’s this plot twist #that they have to fully kill the sacrifices & I was like…did we not already know that? girl r you stupid what do you think sacrifice means #also #oh my god at like half way one of the MCs is like. oh finally this guy who I’ve been exchanging letters with for months turned up to get me #away from here! by the way I’ve been exchanging letters with this guy and we’re friends! and like. she’d been doing nothing much for the #last 10% of the book why was that not like….shown as something she was doing? and like build up the friendship for the reader instead of #just dropping it on us - and also that we know the character from the other POV. and hes a racist prick. and we're supposed to believe she' #charmed by him because of this letter writing WE DIDN’T SEE….. why. #and then also that is like. he’s a shitbag and it’s obviously not romantic at all. he’s manipulative and terrible to her #EXCEPT at the end it implies his bad behaviour is because demon and oh uwu he gets all beat up and maybe hes sowwy now #and starts to imply she likes and is attracted to him? and I get the impression the next book is gonna be like evil power couple dynamic? #which. feels like the first concept the author had; and then tried to build up to that but not effectively lmao #for the lesbians: #I DO APPRECIATE having an assumed love interest then realising that that was idealised and actually you have feelings #for this other person you’ve become friends with! nice slow switch up. though quite brief #I do however dislike that when she admitted her feelings to the first LI and she rejected her it was still framed as the other’s fault #for not reciprocating the feelings….worst trope….also like. it kind of conflated her not feeling that way to her having a bit of class disc #which. yikes? oh my god stop villainising people for not reciprocating romantic feelings (ALSO they turn out to be related anyway 🤪) #i just feel like the romance switchover could have been done with more nuance and complexity

I was brushing my hair this morning and thought how nice it would be to softly and gently brush and/or decorate a little one’s hair. I style or decorate it however they’d like and make sure it’s comfortable, not too tight or heavy. I can put clips or bows with their favorite characters on them. Cute braids, pigtails, a ponytail, or a fishtail if their hair is long enough for all that. Headbands, hair ties, ribbons, so many cool possibilities. And if I don’t know how to do the hair style they want or work with their hair type, I’ll learn! If that’s what the kiddo wants that’s what the kiddo gets, they deserve it(and I’d have a ton a fun doing it <3). They are welcome to watch the kids channel on the tv ofc, while I do their hair 🎀

i like bad special effects. meaning not just old and outdated (which in a lot of cases were actually groundbreaking for their time, but i digress) but also low-budget or rushed or just kinda corny and poorly executed. i think it adds charm where a lot of more polished productions are lacking.

#i don't think this is a particularly hot take on this website #i think a lot of us here also appreciate special effects that are either outdated but were brilliant at the time #or are just flat-out bad by any standard but still enjoyable in a campy way #but like. when the untamed was popular on here i saw a lot of people saying like 'just ignore the bad special effects lol' #when personally i ADORED the special effects in that show #up to and including the shitty animatronic dog lmao #i think they really added something to the atmosphere and the melodrama of it all #and slicker special effects would've made it a worse show. #feels a bit more like you're watching a stage play if you can peek around the curtain in this way #which is very fitting for the sort of show it is! it's very theatrical and dramatic and everything is a big fucking deal! #and you have to make the active choice to suspend your disbelief and get invested #in the idea that this flagrantly fake dog puppet is scary #it's sort of like i'm being asked to collaborate in the story i guess? #if the sfx isn't perfect then my conscious participation is necessary to make it land #so the overall result feels more personal and meaningful because i had to commit to it
