Abolition of the family! Even the most radical flare up at this infamous proposal of the Communists. On what foundation is the present family, the bourgeois family, based? On capital, on private gain. In its completely developed form this family exists only among the bourgeoisie. But this state of things finds its complement in the practical absence of the family among the proletarians, and in public prostitution. The bourgeois family will vanish as a matter of course when its complement vanishes, and both will vanish with the vanishing of capital. Do you charge us with wanting to stop the exploitation of children by their parents? To this crime we plead guilty. But, you will say, we destroy the most hallowed of relations, when we replace home education by social. And your education! Is not that also social, and determined by the social conditions under which you educate, by the intervention, direct or indirect, of society, by means of schools, etc.? The Communists have not invented the intervention of society in education; they do but seek to alter the character of that intervention, and to rescue education from the influence of the ruling class. The bourgeois clap-trap about the family and education, about the hallowed co-relation of parent and child, becomes all the more disgusting, the more, by the action of Modern Industry, all family ties among the proletarians are torn asunder, and their children transformed into simple articles of commerce and instruments of labour. But you Communists would introduce community of women*, screams the whole bourgeoisie in chorus. The bourgeois sees in his wife a mere instrument of production. He hears that the instruments of production are to be exploited in common, and, naturally, can come to no other conclusion than that the lot of being common to all will likewise fall to the women. He has not even a suspicion that the real point is to do away with the status of women as mere instruments of production.
-The Communist Manifesto, Karl Marx and Frederich Engels
*meaning, women held as common property

"From each according to their ability" should not evoke fear, it should evoke a sigh of relief. Humans as a species are not made to work 24/7, not even the healthiest and most neurotypical people are truly "able" to have that sort of lifestyle. We aren't supposed to have 40 hour work weeks and dedicate most of our lives to labor.
We are supposed to labor when there's a reason to labor: to produce things our communities need and that will last.
Through most of human history, we worked very little compared to the modern industrial lifestyle. Technology has not made our lives easier or simpler, it has created more work for us.

Reading theory can be hard.
But there's no reason we can't make it easier.
The goal of this blog is to slowly post bits of the Communist Manifesto, written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, as accessibly as possible, to maximize the number of people reading it.
Currently I am focusing on the Manifesto itself, and excluding the preface, end notes, and other miscellaneous texts contained within the publication available here (though with enough interest I may end up posting these as well).
The text itself will be reformatted to Tumblr's native post editor, and split into about 600-700 words per post. (At 250 words per minute, it's just under a 3-minute read.) Footnotes will be placed next to relevant sentences and passages for improved readability.
The focus of this is making the text as accessible as possible. If anyone has any suggestions on additional aids, please let me know and I'll see if I can incorporate the suggestions into the posts before they go up.
Posting is slated to start on March 6th, with updates on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 11 PM EST.

Who in the Burger universe do you think would've read Marx's manifesto? Who's a burger commie lol (/pos)
Bloody hell I love that question!
I feel like Louise would highkey throw herself into reading it after learning about some sort of injustice in the class system, then she'd make it her whole personality and rope Tina and Gene into getting involved too. All three of the burger kids are passionate, and they show it off in different ways.
Honestly, I could picture anyone reading it aside from the Fishoeders, Jimmy Pesto and Calvin's posh twat friends. Grover probably read it in college sparking his hatred for his cousins and the class system, Linda would skim read it and join a protest somewhere about worker's rights, Bob would read it and spend his days ranting to Teddy and Mort about how hard he and Lin work for so little. Hell, I could even see the kid's teachers (especially Ambrose and Labonz) reading it and spending their lunch breaks bitching about Spoors over spiked coffee.

When the House passes a resolution denouncing the "horrors of socialism" (with overwhelming bipartisan support), it's for the same reason they scapegoat Black people, trans people, people who get abortions, migrants, etc. They are scared for the future of their system.
They know people don't support them and if the masses were organized for action, they'd be in big trouble. So let's organize and show they're right to be scared.

It finally happened. Ao3 got rid of my OWO version of the communist manifesto. I pain-stakingly rewrote the first 3 chapters by hand before realizing there was a website to owo-ify pieces of text.
My masterpiece is gone, but never forgotten.

In proportion therefore, as the repulsiveness of the work increases, the wage decreases. Nay more, in proportion as the use of machinery and division of labour increases, in the same proportion the burden of toil also increases, whether by prolongation of the working hours, by increase of the work exacted in a given time or by increased speed of the machinery, etc.
