Obey Me! Prompt: Freckles

The headcanon:  Living in the sunless Demon Realm, demons don’t naturally have freckles.  They might have spots and stripes and tattoos and makeup and other demonic features, but most are unfamiliar with how sun exposure is actually the cause of skin freckling for humans and angels.

The boys might have seen freckles on prior exchange students from the Human Realm, but MC is the first one they’ve really cared to notice them on.  And they’re fading.

Featuring Lucifer, Mammon, Asmo, Satan, Diavolo & Gender Neutral MC.

My headcanon collection

Lucifer:

Since day one of their arrival, Lucifer has kept tabs on the health of MC.  However, he doesn’t intervene unless he believes that MC may be ill or in the way of harm.

MC’s been getting paler over the last couple of months and it has not escaped his notice.

He begins taking careful note of whether MC is getting enough vitamin D in their diet, going so far as to ensure that shared meals at the House of Lamentation are full of the nutrients their human needs to remain healthy.  If MC seems down or out of it, they’ll promptly find themselves whisked off to get a prescription for vitamin supplements to make up for any deficiencies they might have from now living in the Demon Realm.

He remembers the adjustments he and his brothers had to go through after they fell.  For most of them, it meant changing their diets, though Asmo in particular despaired over the loss of the spattering of freckles over across his nose and cheeks as he feared his beauty was fading.

It might not bring their freckles back, but he’ll be damned if MC becomes unhealthy on his watch.

Luke is also looking a bit more pallid these days.

He might have mentioned something to Lord Diavolo about MC and the angels looking overly pale these days due to the lack of sufficient sun exposure they’d normally have in their own realms.  It was only coincidence that a trip was soon planned to spend some time in the sun at Lord Diavolo’s private island.

He might not say anything, but seeing MC happy and healthy is a source of Pride for him.  He’ll admire from afar if they manage to get MC’s freckles back.

Mammon:

“Yo, human!  Where’d all ya spots go?”

It took him a while to figure out what was changing, but being in charge of their human means he needs to notice these things!

He freaks out at first thinking it means that MC is getting sick.  Even after explaining it to him, he’s a bit skeptical that it doesn’t mean that MC is unwell.  He knew that humans could have spots cuz he’s seen them during his time in the Human Realm,but he never knew it was because of the sun.  Now that he thinks about it now, though, it makes sense with the changes some of the brothers went through after the Fall.  And the little pipsqueak angel also seems to be significantly more pale.

He internalizes this for too long before finally mentioning something to Lucifer.  “Hey, maybe a trip out to that island would do them some good, yeah?”

Lucifer shot down a trip to the Human Realm just to go to the beach…but he’d see about organising a group trip to the Demon Lord’s private beach.

Asmo:

“Oh, darling, you’re looking so pale these days!  Are you feeling alright??”

Asmo’s one of the first to notice the sun-kissed color of MC’s cheeks and freckles fading the longer they’re in the Demon Realm.

It reminds him of part of his own transition after the Fall.

He drags MC to his room whenever he can to make sure that they’re keeping up an acceptable skincare routine.

There’s a specialty spa he loves to go to because it has tanning booths.  While normally scarce in the Demon Realm, they are popular in areas where Human Realm spa services and aesthetics are more on trend.  He uses them to get just the right amount of sun-kissed glow and dainty flecks back to his skin.

He’ll suggest they go there sometime and might drop a hint that they even have tanning there, though he’d never pressure MC into using them.

If MC likes the suggestion, Asmo will want them both to make a routine of going together.

He’ll be overjoyed when MC’s cute freckles start making a return.

Asmo is one of the first to jump onboard for plans to go out to Lord Diavolo’s private island.  He’ll never miss a good opportunity to get in some sunbathing (and pictures of him sunbathing for his Devilgram).  He’s one of the ones sure to remember sunscreen and insist on lathering up MC - it’s not sexy to get all red and burned from too much sun!

If MC is involved with Asmo, he’ll lay sweet kisses all over them for each freckle.

Satan:

It was less that he noticed and more just that he’s aware that it’s something that happens with many humans and angels when they spend significant amounts of time staying in the Demon Realm.

Being born to the darkness of the Demon Realm, however, he did not realise the cause of the change being connected to the sun - or lack thereof.

“Ah, that’s…intriguing.  I’ve never come across such a thing discussed in any of the books I’ve read about human anatomy.  Is it painful to lose them?”

He scours books on skincare for humans and reads up on the effects of too much and too little sun exposure.  There sadly isn’t a whole lot written on this in the Demon Realm, yet.

Satan is the one that suggests that MC maybe should be seeing a doctor regularly during their stay to ensure that their health is being properly looked after.  After all, the human health books advise that routine bloodwork can signal of issues developing long before outward appearances may reflect a problem.

If MC doesn’t care of their freckles fading, then he doesn’t care, either, though the little spots remind him of the spots that some cats have. They're cute.

Diavolo:

Is genuinely very concerned when he notices MC’s “spots” fading away.

They’re the first human exchange student that he’s become close enough with to notice such a thing happening.

He knows that many humans can have all kinds of spots; some many, some few; some dark, some light.

But he didn’t know they could start fading away.

Does it mean their precious exchange student is ill??

He asks Barbatos to assist him in finding books that might provide the answer, but they don’t have much luck.  It seems to be a phenomenon little reported on within the Demon Realm.

He isn’t sure how to approach it, so is just blunt about it one day when he and MC are enjoying some private time together, “I don’t mean to alarm you, MC…but I noticed that your spots don’t appear to be quite as plentiful as when you first arrived here.  Have you been feeling well?”

Is relieved when he’s told that it’s a normal thing to occur due to the lack of sunlight that the Demon Realm has, but is equally upset that he’s inadvertently been the cause of this.  The health of his exchange student is one of his highest priorities while they are under his care.

Even if MC is getting sufficient nutrients from their diet, Diavolo is skeptical that their freckles fading isn’t inherently a sign of bad health.  He tells Lucifer that they’ll all vacation at his island over Spring Break.

Is disappointed that a few days in the sun won’t be enough to ensure that MC’s freckles will come back and not fade again.  So that just means they’ll have to plan more sunny trips!

Maybe he should make a mini sun for MC.

Is skeptical that tanning beds are sufficient for the same desired effect but will confer with Asmo to find the best and safest options to explore with MC.

MC’s spots are one of his favorite features if they’re involved with the Prince.  They’re one of the cute unique things that humans can have.  They might be from the sun but they’re like having a face and body full of stars like the night sky.  He could spend hours lying together with MC and gently tracing them.

The Ghost Prince does not, under any circumstances, answer a summoning after it was made aware he existed. None know why he doesn't, some are bitter and hateful of it while others are thankful that it's one less bloodthirsty manic to deal with.

The Ghost King meanwhile hasn't been seen in multiple eons, so the magical community who wanted to use his power just, stopped, trying to summon him for a long time.

Most magic users knew that the Ghost Prince never answered a summons, and that the Ghost King just dropped off the radar.

So could you really blame Constantine for not taking it that seriously when some wannabe hotshot cultists try to summon both of them in the middle of a city to wreak havoc?

He'll give them some credit though. Points for doing it in broad daylight and actually being somewhat of a threat with not relying on just summoning the Ghost royalty and figuring out what to do from there.

The area they were in was somewhat destroyed, then the cultists manage to complete the summoning circle to summon both of them and Constantine, well he just light up a smoke.

It isn't going to work anyways so what does it matter?

...

Is that a fucking Ice cream truck he hears? Who the fuck is driving an Ice cream truck while their city is being under attacked with cultists trying to summon eldritch ghost royalty?

He'll give them some points for dedication, though.

Then he looked at the cultists and nearly had a goddamn heart attack to see that the summoning circle is actually fucking lighting up and working.

The Bat is so gonna give him a headache over this.

Danny Phantom, crown prince of the Infinite Realms. Does not answer summons.

For one, it is annoying as shit, whenever someone interrupts his day just to ask for infinite power (that he can't give), world domination (that he won't do) or infinite riches (which he also can't do).

It just got annoying being summoned all the time so. One day he just, well, no. And hey, it worked out well enough for him to not continue doing it.

Then he also learned that Pariah Dark is basically the same, after he got out the coffin and stopped trying to take over the world for whatever reason. He was actually a pretty swell guy!

He was just with him too, with him being not so swell at the time for making him go through lessons about Ghost etiquette, rules, stuff that's expected of him as the crown prince.

And don't even get him started on the engagement and marriage proposals.

Overall, he just wanted to find an excuse to leave. Then he felt the familiar suggestive pull of a summoning and, instead of rejection as he usually does in a second. He thought for a bit if he wanted to go with that or crown prince duties.

It was tempting, but dealing with cultists seemed worse than this so he was about to reject.

At least, before he heard an Ice cream truck playing in the background. He doesn't even know how the hell that popped up through the pull but by the gods has it been a while since he's had Ice cream.

So he answers and is gone with a pop.

Pariah Dark just stares for a good second or two, before breathing out and deciding to also answer. Fright Knight is just there, off to side, questioning what he should do now.

Danny wastes no time with the cultists on the other side and in fact, he pushes them out of the way and goes diving for that Ice cream truck he hears. Only to realize he doesn't, have any money on him.

Fuck.

Pariah Dark is less inclined to follow the rules imposed by humans like money, but he does know it can be important. Once in a while. Not that often, but it has its times.

So when he sees his adopted son being sad over being unable to pay for some kind of human delicacy, he digs around in his hair (yes, his hair.) and pulls out some money and puts it on the counter as payment.

The man inside the tiny vehicle had shrieked before getting what they wanted. Which is good. Fear is a good motivator, Pariah thinks.

Unknown to him, it wasn't out of fear (Well, mostly) but because the Ghost King placed down a coin made of pure, solid gold on his counter.

The two then go about their business in the human realm, completely forgetting about the fact that they were summoned here for something.

Constantine is both relieved and about to have an aneurysm at seeing Infinite Realm royalty only answering a summon because of Ice cream.

For my fellow fibre arts witches, if you're starting to get the Annual Cold Weather Fidget, that driving urge to reach for hooks and needles and that big bin of spools and fabric lurking in your closet....

If you feel like Doing A Witchcraft, you can work some witchy into whatever you're making. Weaving, crocheting, knitting, nalbinding, stitching, embroidery, and knotwork can all carry magic and serve as a vehicle for creating spells, sigils, talismans, or enchanted wearables.

Am I saying you can put a spell into that pair of socks you're knitting? That scarf you've been working on? That pile of granny squares waiting to become a blanket? That cross-stitch piece you've been meaning to finish?

ABSOLUTELY.

There are even books on knot magic, witchy crochet and knitting patterns, and beautifully spooky cross-stitch and embroidery pieces. (And lots more downloadable patterns exist on etsy and fibre arts forums!) Perfect for chilling with your favorite hot beverage and current binge-watch while you keep your hands from getting bored.

Low Energy/Effort Witchcraft

Are you perpetually busy? Never have any spoons? This might be the post for you. Note that not everything here may be considered low energy or low effort to everyone, and that's okay :)

Carry a crystal around based on what you need. I have a black tourmaline bracelet that absorbs negative vibes throughout the day. I stick it on a selenite slab when I get home to cleanse overnight, then rinse and repeat in the morning.

Put a bay leaf in your wallet to attract money. If you have time, draw a sigil or a $/£/€ on it.

Dedicate anything you drink to your deities if you have any. I dedicate water and black tea to everyone and my favourite raspberry tea to Hathor. Coffee is for Caim.

Enchant your pill case so you remember to take them on time. Enchant your pills to work efficiently. ("Anxiety begone. Ye be banished" on all of my anxiety pills ✌️)

Draw a sigil on your body wash bottle to remove bad vibes or carve a sigil in a bar of soap.

Enchant your moisturizer to repel the evil eye. I fucking love this one.

Incorporate colour magic into the socks you wear (Goths who wear hot pink socks, I'm looking at you).

Enchant your charger so it doesn't break and so you don't lose it. Enchant your phone too while you're at it.

Match those big ol jar candles to different intentions. Burn a cedar candle to cleanse/banish. Burn a cinnamon candle to draw in prosperity. Burn a citrus candle to uplift mood. This one is fantastic for broom closet witches.

Got a humidifier? Fill it up with moon water. You're welcome ;D

Politely ask the spirits of your plants to ward your space. Feed two birds with one scone this way.

Witchy social media. Scrolling on Tumblr and learning something new about witchcraft counts as witchcraft imo. Saving tarot spreads from Instagram for later counts too. Making Pinterest boards for literally anything also counts.

Keep a digital grimoire if doing it on paper costs too many spoons. I have used Google docs & drive in the past but I currently use Notion (You can copy and paste this way!)

If you still want a physical grimoire, print your stuff out and stick it in a binder or glue it in your journal. Boom. Physical grimoire

Listen to witchcraft related videos in the background while you do other tasks or chores in your home

Preparing a meal? Toss in spices that correspond with good health and drawing in positivity, or any other intention you have

Enchant your glasses to help you focus and "read between the lines" or see what wants to remain hidden (this one is a lifesaver at my job)

You can write down as many correspondences as you want, memorize entire lists from someone else's blog or book or whatever, but none of it will matter if you do not understand those correspondences. It's so critically important to ask "Why?"

Why is spirit purple? Why is love red? Why is chamomile calm? Why is quartz "all purpose"? Why does cinnamon speed up a spell?

Why, why, why?
