I love community supported agriculture so much. A bunch of people chip in to support a local farm and get shit tons of veggies and other food in return. This is the life
Friends in my phone, I just put an entire raw jalapeño varietal in my mouth thinking it was one of those sweet snacking peppers our veggie CSA gives us sometimes.
I had no idea our CSA grew jalapeños.
I had no idea there were jalapeños that weren't green. (I have now Googled and know better.)
Now, I like jalapeños. They're one of my favorite pizza toppings (excellent with pineapple). I enjoy pickled jalapeños in sandwiches. They're key ingredients in many other dishes I enjoy.
But after three inches of unexpected jalapeño, seeds and all, this white girl needed about 4 cups of milk, a handful of cherry tomatoes (also from our CSA - excellent!), and a French roll before the tears stopped and my mouth stopped burning. (I also became a snotty mess.)
I’m so lucky to have a farmer friend. This morning he dropped off some chicken eggs for me but also included a nice surprise of Turkey eggs. That’s right, eggs from his turkeys. And they are some big jumbo ones and are so beautiful. Make friends with your farmer. They bring food into your life. Literally. Thank you farmers!

So with a bunch of stuff from the agriculture box, I made myself a roasted peach and veggie salad with ancient grains and a honey rosemary vinaigrette 🥗
Right off the farm, dirt included. Or should I say soil. Since my favorite delivery service went out of business this year, I’m grateful to find another. This one deals only with locally produced products so it should get interesting here in a couple of months. Tastes so much better than what we get at the store.
Beets, squash, Michigan peaches. And so much more not pictured. Support your local farmers!
Getting ready to make a pot of beets, these are a nice heirloom variety I’ve grown myself.
