The Ten Companions of the Dragonmark:
My beloveds ♥️♥️♥️ also Innocence Arrogance and Patience have been looking for Fishlegs for fifteen years and Hiccup and Fishlegs have been besties forever and Camicazi never gives up
Cohen-Atwood Family:
they really hid the most heartwarming story i’ve ever seen about an outsider being let in and letting others in in return and transforming from the troubled kid from the wrong side of the tracks into a kid who is working on being more open with his feelings who has a family who loves him inside a silly teen drama <3 the way that found family is at the core of this show and serves to break ryan free from the life he always assumed he’d live… its very good

something about the way book 10 begins with hiccup being the loneliest he’s ever been. an outcast, a hero on a quest, a wanted boy on both sides of the war. with only three dragons as his closest companions. windwalker, wodensfang and toothless as sole witnesses to his growing up for an entire year - how evident that all three of them tried their absolute hardest to protect and take care of hiccup given the dire circumstances of being on the run.
and something about the way it ends with hiccup's own little ensemble of a group, dubbed as 'the ten companions of the dragonmark' - consisting of his most loved humans and dragons who would now undoubtedly follow him anywhere. finally having the chance to laugh freely and exchange stories and to breathe a little easier, even if just for a moment. and even if worry and guilt seem to weigh heavy on him, the wodensfang is there to remind him of his youth, to 'leave these worries to us old creatures' and that hiccup is no longer alone.

Httyd crossover fic 2! time: Httyd 2 and three years after book 12
I was walking my dog and came up with this lovely fic idea! Basically, the both series take place in the same universe, with the movies being isolated after the death of Hiccup II. Movie berk split apart from the wilderwest, with plenty of the old families disowning themselves and moving to movie berk. Through their isolation they grew the hatred of dragons that is seen in httyd one. Later, during race to the edge, the dragon rebellion is going on, which movie berk wants nothing to do with. After the war, movie berk and the new kingdom of the wilderwest become political allies, which the dragon riders are ecstatic about! The other side of the barbaric archipelago is something only whispered about, and usually with disdain, so the possibilities of new dragons is endless!
now, in httyd 2, three years after the war ended, drago enters the scene. Drago was an old supporter of the Alvinsmen, and are trying to restart the war by killing and enslaving dragons. Upon hearing that drago is coming towards berk, he sends a message to book Hiccup, who has been trying to rebuild the Wilderwest.
due to their alliance, the ten companions of the dragonmark head out to gather info about Drago, but are captured by Drago, who had heard stories about the boy king.
Astrid and the rest of the gang are then captured, and one of the guards come up with the idea to get rid of the king and his companions at the same time as the dragon riders. It backfires, and the crew hides in the dragon cages with the riders and sneak onto the battlefield.

I'm sorry, like... I now posted this entire reply which didn't even really dive into the story thematically, or answered directly to what you wrote @queenofthearchipelago. I wonder if one has to read the Httyd books as a kid to really appreciate them. I was maybe too hung up on the plot holes to pay much attention to what the stories really discussed. Hiccup deserved better because he shouldn't have to bear the weight of a world war on his sole back. As a kid. Who is halfway sensible. He cannot bear the full intellect, and responsibility of his people on his own. And it's clear that he doesn't have to - there are smart adults such as Valhallarama, or Old Wrinkly around. There is an entire army of companions of the Dragonmark who just want peace. Hiccup also has good dragon friends, wise and old dragon friends, and really great human friends who are his age. Even Snotlout is just mean, not dumb. Snotlout is super smart. Everyone is just trying to survive and to fight the viciousness of a few villains and a lot of old hurt. Hiccup doesn't have to be their one savior. It's true that he initiated and represented the cry for justice first, but that's mainly because he had personal encounters with Alvin and Furious. Once the whole thing grew to a larger scale, there were plenty of others who picked sides and stood with him.
I don't think a human crown was the way to solve this. That is all. Dragons didn't depend on humans to be their food source or anything, and humans didn't seem to depend on dragons much - they kept sailing everywhere. So apart from the evil urge to WANT to suppress the other group, there seemed to be no real issue between them. Their co-existence seemed pretty balanced tbh. For every nano dragon who was a slave, there was a gigantic sea dragon ready to drown a ship. It only ever grew into a war because of Alvin's hate for Hiccup, which turned Furious' hate against all of humanity. Hm.

Now here’s a better Ghilwen. Not perfect, but better. And in full color!
Tumblr media
Ghilwen went to fight in The Last War on Cyre’s behalf, even though that was a thing you didn’t do if you were from a Dragonmarked house. Especially if you were from House Cannith—they were selling their weapons to all sides of the conflict. However, that was Ghilwen’s motivation in a nutshell: she was an idiot 19-year-old who “loved her country” and wanted to prove that it was more important to her than her House.
She was assigned to a unit that was primarily made of Warforged serving under a human commander, since she could serve as mechanic/medic for them. The human commander thought of the Warforged as grunts/cannon fodder. Ghilwen railed against that concept, frequently clashing with her commander over his treatment of the Warforged. She was on a path to being discharged for insubordination when the unit was blown up.
(Some CW: graphic injuries after the cut.)
It was supposed to be a routine pick-up of supplies. The problem was security had gotten lax and it was all TOO routine. Someone had set up explosives at the drop site. Ghilwen was lagging slightly behind, trying to determine the source of an issue one of her Warforged companions was having, which saved her from being killed outright in the blast.
She lost her right arm, and was severely burned in places on the right side of her body. The Warforged she had been trying to help, badly wounded as well, picked up Ghil and made it as far back towards their base camp as possible before succumbing to their own injuries. Ghil was forced to cauterize her own wounds with magic to prevent herself from bleeding out. She was found the next day when a search party was sent to find out what happened to the supply delivery and taken to a field hospital away from the front lines, outside of Cyre.
While she was in recovery, the Day of Mourning occurred.
If you don’t know the background of Eberron at all, The Day of Mourning was a magical catastrophe of unknown origin that destroyed all of Cyre. It effectively ended The Last War. The people of Cyre, those left anyway, were now refugees. Ghilwen, like so many others, was left high and dry and essentially homeless—while her father had been out of Cyre and escaped the Day of Mourning, Ghilwen’s mother had been traveling through Cyre to help Ghil’s convalescence and had been killed. Ghilwen’s father, who had been vehemently against Ghilwen enlisting, blamed Ghil for her mother’s death.
Five years past the end of The Last War, Ghilwen is a mess. While her talents at magic and artifice allowed her to make a prosthetic arm for herself, other things are less easily fixed or replaced. Her inability to process her trauma has led her into unhealthy vices, particularly drinking, and she stumbles her way through odd jobs for coin. While her romantic ideals of the military and governments were shattered, she still holds a burning love for what Cyre once was, and longs to have a hand in restoring it in some way.

I need to come up with lore for Wrem and Wrek (Elar d'Thuranni's shadow companions) for my 5e campaign where Baron Elar has been corrupted through the influence of the Order of the Emerald Claw. I want to incorporate the shadows into his Villain Origin Story™︎.
In 3.5e they're greater shadows and in 4e they're sword wraiths. I haven't found any 5e canon or kanon on the subject but regardless of stats the idea seems to be that they are undead creatures and the people that they came from died in a violent or at least unpleasant way.
My ideas so far for Wrem and Wrek's identities have been:
They were his parents.
They were his victims from an assassination job.
They were his children.
He actually did make them with his dragonmark.
Gifts from the Emerald Claw.
Gifts from the Bloodsails/Lady Illmarrow.
Elar made a deal with a dark power of Mabar.
They're just some random mabaran shadows who like the cut of Elar's jib.

I'm planning to do a httyd book fic for nanowrimo but I haven't got many viable ideas... Would you be so kind as to provide some inspiration? Preferably not to do with the films, I haven't seen them.
Pick a prompt, any Prompt!
-Fishlegs is raised by Alvin the Treacherous instead of Hiccup and a Long-Eared Caretaker Dragon.
-Fishlegs being raised by Hiccup and the Long-Eared Caretaker Dragon.
-Camicazi's adventures freeing kids from the Amber Slavelands.
-Fishlegs' perspective of the time between How to Steal a Dragon's sword and How to Seize A Dragon's Jewel.
-The Companions of the Dragonmark being Domestic together in their little hideout between How to Seize a Dragon's Jewel and How to Betray a Dragon's Hero.
-That time Hiccup got kidnapped when he was like nine or ten before the books started, sent a letter to his mom, and got a letter back basically saying "you're not a little kid anymore, rescue yourself"

My current D&D character.
This is Quezira. She is a half-elf beastmaster ranger. She was born to a noble family in House Lyrandar and is descended from a long line of dragonmarked heirs. Despite her family’s expectations of her, she never showed much magical aptitude and never took the test of Siberys. When she was 18, she ran away from Stormhome, not wanting to have her worth defined by the House.
On the mainland of Khorvaire she discovered her connection to nature and a connection to her primal companion, Noire. At this moment she has only been with the party for about six months, but she has a very strong sense of loyalty towards them. They have been contracting their services in Sharn as a way to make money.
Personality-wise she is very loyal, but also headstrong and somewhat aggressive. Whenever we go into battle I have “Kiss With a Fist” playing in my head because she is ready to fight anything. And it shows in some really awesome moments. She has pinned a kobold to a wall in one hit; pinned a goblins head to its chest, killing it; and nearly killed the final boss of our last adventure in one round because of a crit and some feat stuff.

I JUST SAW HTTYD 3 TODAY
Un. Follow. Me now, this is going to be the only thing I post about for weeks.
Please, please do not read this if you haven’t been a lucky bastard of an Australian. Do not click read more on pc, go back to your blog and block the tag httyd 3 spoilers on mobile, unfollow me if you want to.
There was no assigned seat system so I sat in front of the door to go in first and get a good one, but two guys (as in, fandom age) beat me. I wonder if they have tumblr...
Things I loved (prepare for a long list):
THAT OPENING SCENE
Hiccup boards a ship to free dragons and swordfights this guard dude. Guard knocks over a lamp, setting the deck on fire and Hiccup and a blue glowing Toothless deadass walk through it. Boi that was awesome
This is Berk.
Lots of action scenes in general. Hiccup with a sword is my new aesthetic. I did not pay a lot of attention, but I think he fought left handed.
The visuals.
Hot.
Damn.
Thought httyd 2 Berk was impressive? I think not.
THAT NEW BERK ISLAND
THE CAMP
THE WATERFALL
THE CLOUDS
SNOWY NEW BERK ISLAND
THE SAND
Oh boy the sand. Because there are no places like that waterfall or new Berk island it is obviously fake, but the clouds and sand... If you took a screenshot and said it was a photo I’m pretty sure 99% of the people would believe you.
All the decors. Dreamworks made So. Many. Environments. I don’t think I’ve ever seen an animated movie with this level and amount of sets and details. This beats Finding Dory, Big Hero 6, httyd 2 by far. Maybe Zootopia and Moana reached this level, but never on this scale.
The composition. Whoever did the cinematography, kudos to you. The fight scenes were awesome, actually, most of the shots were.
The music. John Powell amirite??? When Hiccup sits there with his map. When they introduce Grimmel’s fort. When they go into the waterfall. Test flight when Light Fury saves Hiccup...
Drago’s fleet was cool, but Grimmel has a freaking aircraft/helicopter thing. Who does this guy think he is? Norbert the Nutjob?
Speaking of Grimmel HE SAID IT HE SAID IT WHEN HE BROKE INTO HICCUP’S HOUSE
“You wish for a world where humans and dragons live as equals? That will be the end of civilization.” Or something like that. Can you hear my book fandom heart beating faster? There was even a faintly recognizable ‘history repeats itself’.
The entirety of Berk on the move. Dragons carrying bags, entire ships with stuff and lots and lots of citizens. I don’t know when Hiccup acquired all this power to make people listen to him immediately, but he’s owning it.
The gang, minus Snotlout, had an actual part in the plot, unlike httyd 1 and 2 where they were mainly background characters. Gobber had a running gag with funny round dragons. I LOVE THEM OK they are so round.
TINY HICCUP IN THE FLASHBACKS Stoick was so sweet on him, and the way he speaks about Valka.... Take notes Disney, that’s a declaration of love.
No hate on Light Fury. She was the amazing ball of feral sass that I hoped she would be. She noped out when Toothless tried to flirt and yeeted Hiccup off his back. You go girl.
Toothless being a Skrill.
Toothless being da king. I got chills. Toothless my baby you are so amazing
That scene where Grimmel symbolically rips off Hiccup’s dragon-y wings, night fury pauldron and leg... Cressida Cowell would be proud of that.
“The world if not ready for dragons. Yet”
HICCUP TRULY SAID IT CAN I GET ALL BOOK FANS TO SAY IT WITH ME?
At the last hand thing where Hiccup slowly takes his hand off Toothless, I swear I heard someone cry softly. I don’t blame them.
Have I mentioned the visuals yet?
Things that I thought were very good, but not True Perfection My Life Is Complete 10/10 level good:
The ending was kind of sudden. Grimmel is defeated and then Hiccup decides to let Toothless go free? And then the entirety of Berk unsaddles their dragons to let them go? Yes, I understand, but I thought it would have taken an ENTIRE movie for him to do that. It WAS there throughout the movie, but it was never the main focus (the way Tadashi’s death was in BH6). The attention was always on either Grimmel or the Light Fury.
This in general. The emotions were the subplots instead of the main ones.
The whole “What is Hiccup without Toothless?” was a most perfect plot that kind of.... was resolved far easier than I hoped. It was still good, just not “hero the hard way”-level good.
“Hiccup makes Toothless a self-flying tail fin while that was a major point of their soulmate-ness” was missing some emotional weight. Hiccup was clearly super distressed, it was just not addressed a lot.
The Hiccstrid wedding plot was nice and I suspect lots of shippers will have their funerals in theatre, however, I think that too was not “companions of the Dragonmark”-level good. BUT THEY ARE SO CUTE! THEY ARE SUCH A REALISTIC AND GOOD COUPLE LIKE THEY WERE IN HTTYD 2. No mushy romance, just two badass Vikings who are so comfortable around each other it can only be true love.
Random stuff:
Eret might be gay for Gobber.
Snotlout might have slapped Hiccup’s butt.
Valka beat Spitelout (voiced by David Tennant despite not having any real lines) in arm wrestling.
Ruffnut annoying Grimmel the way only she can.
Valka has bits of grey in her hair, but her face still looks super young.
The whole gang has flight suits
Things I did not like:
Toothless fell in love too fast. He ditched Hiccup’s flirting tactics and made her a drawing. Cool. He got mad when she stepped on the lines. Cool. But then she got mad as well and Toothless just.... left it at that. Apparently he was so lovestruck he let Light Fury trample his art. No.
Things I hated with every inch of my being (that is not a lot of inches by the way):
Snotlout flirting with a Valka.
Gods... He is younger than Hiccup. Valka is Hiccup’s mom. Blergh.
Things I understand and fit the movie verse but annoyed me because it killed the entire meaning of Cressida Cowell’s conclusion (yes this is very specific):
The ending.
The dragons leave. Hiccup smiles through his tears because he knows this is the best thing to do. Toothless becomes king of the dragon world. Light Fury is his queen. Hiccup and Astrid marry and have cute children. Hiccup grows a beard. So far so good. Very good ending.
But then. Then Toothless reappears and meets Hiccup’s son and daughter. -_-
I don’t know about you, but wasn’t the whole point that dragons went into the hidden world to hide from humans? Wasn’t the whole point that ‘great things are only made out of love and pain’ and that doing the good thing also meant letting Toothless go? I wanted a heartbreaking ending. The bittersweet one from book 12. And this just felt like a fairytale that was too good to be true.
Yet at the same time, I like this ending. Toothless has his own life. Hiccup is his own person without Toothless. He’s a good chief and everyone is generally happy. The world does not believe dragons exist. Except for Berk.
Berk is this special place that dragons sometimes visit before returning back to the hidden world because Berlin’s do love dragons.
And come on. Kids and parents would riot if Hiccup and Toothless did separate for good.
Things that whacked me in the face like
"There were dragons when I was a boy"
BUT HE DID NOT ONLY SAY THAT HE SAID THE ENTIRE THING
THE ENTIRE THING from ‘There were dragons when I was a boy’ TO ‘leaving not a bone, not a fang, in the earth for the men of the future to remember them by.’
I died.

I'm working on the first chapter of a Thuggory-centric work right now. I'm super excited! Writing it as a birthday fic for myself. I should have it done within the next couple of days.
I know I've been talking about writing fics for Thuggory for the past 2 years without having done anything, but the past 2 years were rather difficult for me and I didn't have the motivation. Now that it's the Year of the Dragon, I have a lot of motivation now!
Thank you for your patience.

Blood Hunter in Eberron: Part 4: Dragonmarked Houses
We’re here, at the (likely) finale of the “Blood Hunter in Eberron” series. We’ve talked locations, we’ve talked races, now it’s time to talk dragonmarked houses.
The Houses are a central part of life in Eberron, and the dragonmarks unique to each House give you slight magical abilities. A dragonmark is a distinctive symbol that appears anywhere on the skin; only twelve dragonmarks are known, and each has a unique design and a unique power. Some players may wish to say that their blood hunter abilities come from a dragonmark instead of the Hunter’s Bane, which I think would actually be really neat! For human and half-orc characters, having a dragonmark means playing a variant version of the race; half-elf characters treat having a dragonmark as a variant race but keep some standard half-elf traits; and dwarves, elves, gnomes, and halflings treat having a dragonmark as playing a subrace. So, what are these abilities, and how can they help a blood hunter?
Mark of Detection: The Mark of Detection is exclusive to half-elves and is associated with House Medani. House Medani members serve as bodyguards and inquisitives.
The Mark of Detection allows you to roll a d4 intuition die and add the result to Investigation and Insight checks. You can also cast detect magic and detect poison and disease as rituals, with Intelligence as your spellcasting ability for these rituals. These are really handy for blood hunters, especially if you’re trying to figure out what happened or what’s going on.
Mark of Finding: The Mark of Finding is available to humans or half-orcs and is associated with House Tharashk. Members of House Tharashk serve as inquisitives, bounty hunters, and prospectors.
The Mark of Finding gives you darkvision. It also allows you to roll a d4 intuition die and add the result to Survival and Perception checks. Finally, you can “imprint” a creature you can see on your mind, allowing you to double the intuition die on Survival and Perception checks to track the imprinted creature and sense its location once you’re within 60 feet of it. This is a great thing for blood hunters because it augments the Hunter’s Bane feature you get at 1st level.
Mark of Handling: The Mark of Handling is exclusive to humans and is associated with House Vadalis. Members of House Vadalis often serve as ranchers and animal trainers.
The Mark of Handling allows you to roll a d4 intuition die and add the result to Animal Handling and Nature checks. You can also use the Help action to aid an allied animal companion or mount within 30 feet of you. You can cast animal friendship once per short or long rest using Wisdom as your spellcasting ability. Finally, when you cast a spell that affects only beasts it also affects monstrosities with an Intelligence score of 3 or lower. These effects aren’t going to be useful for your average blood hunter.
Mark of Healing: The Mark of Healing is exclusive to halflings and is associated with House Jorasco. Members of House Jorasco are often healers.
The Mark of Healing allows you to roll a d4 intuition die and add the result to Medicine checks. You can also use an action and spend one of your Hit Die to heal yourself or a creature you touch. If you’re going to play a healer, this is great, but blood hunters tend to need their Hit Die for healing on short rests, so this might not be the best choice for a blood hunter.
Mark of Hospitality: The Mark of Hospitality is exclusive to halflings and is associated with House Ghallanda. Members of this House are often innkeepers or occupy similar roles.
The Mark of Hospitality allows you to roll a d4 intuition die and add the result to Persuasion checks or ability checks involving brewer’s supplies or cook’s utensils. You also know the cantrips friends and prestidigitation, and Charisma is your spellcasting ability for them. These are handy if you want to play a blood hunter that’s better in social encounters, but overall they’re likely to be less useful to you.
Mark of Making: The Mark of Making is exclusive to humans and is associated with House Cannith. Members of House Cannith are often artisans of some sort.
The Mark of Making allows you to roll a d4 intuition die and add the result to an ability check with any type of artisan’s tools. You know the mending cantrip and gain proficiency with one type of artisan’s tools. You can make a temporary magic item out of common materials that until your next long rest gives you access to a cantrip from the wizard spell list. You can also spend one minute weaving a temporary enchantment into a nonmagical armor or weapon, giving it a +1 bonus to AC if it’s armor or a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls if it’s a weapon. These last two features are neat and would be useful to a blood hunter.
Mark of Passage: The Mark of Passage is exclusive to humans and is associated with House Orien. Members of House Orien are often involved in land transportation.
The Mark of Passage increases your base speed to 40 feet. It also allows you to roll a d4 intuition die and add the result to Athletics checks or ability checks to maintain and operate land vehicles. When you use the Dash action, difficult terrain doesn’t cost you extra movement on that turn. Finally, as a bonus action once per long rest you can teleport up to your base speed to an unoccupied space you can see and you can bring a willing creature of your size or smaller with you. These are handy abilities for a blood hunter to have because of the increased mobility, but there are probably other dragonmarks that are more useful.
Mark of Scribing: The Mark of Scribing is exclusive to gnomes and is associated with House Sivis. Members of House Sivis are often involved in long-distance communication.
The Mark of Scribing allows you to roll a d4 intuition die and add the result to ability checks when you use calligrapher’s supplies or forgery kits, which you also get proficiency with. Once per long rest, you can cast comprehend languages, and you know the message cantrip. You also know an extra language of your choice. These are going to be highly situational for blood hunters and aren’t your best choice.
Mark of Sentinel: The Mark of Sentinel is exclusive to humans and is associated with House Deneith. Members of House Deneith are often mercenaries, bodyguards, or law enforcement.
The Mark of Sentinel allows you to roll a d4 intuition die and add the result to initiative rolls and Perception checks to notice a threat. In addition, you know the blade ward cantrip and can cast shield once per short or long rest. Finally, as an action you can designate an ally as your ward. You have advantage on Insight and Perception checks to identify threats to your ward, and when you are within 5 feet of your ward and your ward is the target of an attack you can use your reaction to swap places with your ward, making you the target of the attack instead. Personally, I like this dragonmark, but it’s probably not the best choice for blood hunters, especially because you’re a glass cannon. That said, any bonus to initiative rolls and noticing a threat is useful, and blade ward and shield might come in handy.
Mark of Shadow: The Mark of Shadow is exclusive to elves and is associated with Houses Thuranni and Phiarlan. Members of these Houses are often spies.
The Mark of Shadow gives you proficiency with a musical instrument or with the Performance skill. In addition, you can roll a d4 intuition die and add the result to Performance or Stealth checks. You know the minor illusion cantrip and use Charisma as your spellcasting ability for it. Once per short or long rest, you can use the Hide action as a bonus action regardless of what cover is available. These traits are useful for sneaking up on monsters and distracting them, so don’t overlook this one.
Mark of Storm: The Mark of Storm is exclusive to half-elves and is associated with House Lyrandar. Members of this House are often sailors.
The Mark of Storm gives you a swim speed of 30 feet. You can also roll a d4 intuition die and add the result to Acrobatics checks or ability checks involving operating or maintaining a water or air vehicle. You have resistance to lightning damage and know the gust cantrip. At 3rd level you can cast gust of wind once per long rest. These are going to be very situational for blood hunters and probably shouldn’t be your first choice unless you expect a lot of sailing to be happening.
Mark of Warding: The Mark of Warding is exclusive to dwarves and is associated with House Kundarak. Members of this House are often security specialists or bankers.
The Mark of Warding allows you to roll a d4 intuition die and add the result to History, Investigation, or Thieves’ Tool checks associated with locks and trap mechanisms. You can also cast the alarm spell as a ritual and at 3rd level you can cast arcane lock once per long rest. These are not your best choice if you’re playing a blood hunter, as the uses are going to be very situational.

Tornitus d’Lyrander was unique compared to the others who flew airships across the vast expanse of Khorvaine. Unlike those who chartered ships in service of other houses or acted as mercenaries, Tornitus was handpicked by his father as the only child to inherit his airship- The White Wildcat, a highly armoured and sophisticated warship that could only be piloted by the most tenacious and strategic.
Growing up, Tornitus devoted himself to his studies, excelling in all aspects to be approved of by his father- and the manifestation of his Dragonmark sealed the deal almost too easily. Around this time, however, his father, an esteemed general in the House Lyrander forces brought back a scrawny, feral Elf, informing Tornitus that this would now be his new younger brother.
The boy, named Lyncas by his father, soon began to overtake Tornitus in everything he had held dear- including the exclusive attention of his father, and desperate to show himself as superior, he sent Lyncas to an outpost under ‘orders’ of a impending invasion there on foot (considering Lyncas could not pilot an airship without a Dragonmark as his did). The end of the Last War saw Tornitus’s father get killed in a skirmish with Dargunnian mercenaries, and Tornitus saw this as an excuse to execute Lyncas for his failure of carrying out his duties- however, trailing Lyncas saw Tornitus find himself in a forgotten village, and he found Lyncas caring for a group of displaced elven children that had been orphaned by the Last War.
Lyncas held his own against Tornitus’s blade, but Tornitus slew the rest of the orphans in cold blood by driving his ship into the village and destroying it, refusing to believe that anyone should even show Lyncas any form of kindness the same way his father did- but at the last moment as he drove his blade into the final child, the girl who was leader of the group of children, she produced a dagger that was unmistakeably of Aeranal origin and plunged it into Tornitus’s neck, refusing to yield even in her last moments.
As The White Wildcat exploded into a blast of powerful electrical and psychic energies, the trio’s bodies were ripped to shreds, effectively ending their lives intertwined as one. As fate would’ve had it, the bodies of Lyncas, Tornitus and the nameless child were restored, but Lyncas’ and the child’s memories were erased and they were assigned to Tornitus as his servants- his punishment for slaying them in his jealousy and rage. He was now branded as an immortal reaper responsible for reincarnating those who needed their aid across realms.
With that, Tornitus adopted his new alias- Gangrim, the god of death, and his companions became Haewonmak, the keeper of reincarnation and Lee Deokchoon, protector of mortals. Tornitus, tormented by his memories of killing them both, was forced into this contract and faced them for a thousand years, quietly atoning for his sins by trying to help them gain reincarnation.
As the stipulated time finally came to an end, he found himself separated from Haewonmak and Deokchoon, returning once again to the familiar land of Khorvaine in search of one final soul to reincarnate until he could finally rest. He quietly toils away, having been branded a traitor by House Lyrander for his reckless attempt compromising his airship, but forces around him seemed to tempt him along his way to enlightenment...

HTTYD Books Fanfic Poll
Hello, my fellow Dragonmarkers! Today, I've decided to make a poll. There are several ideas I'd like to work on, however, I'm struggling to choose which one to start on first. Granted, I have a feeling I know what you guys want me to work on first, but I still want to ask anyways. 😏
So before you vote, I'd like to list down the options below and a little summary as to what each choice will be about.
Poll will end on Hiccup's birthday on February 29th. So spread the word. 🙏🏻😉
『 All of these story ideas will try to cling to canon events as much as it can, or at least be loyal to it as canon-inspired. 』
<><><><><><><>
Thuggory's Saga
This story will be on Thuggory's POV throughout the Books and what was going on behind the scenes when Thuggory wasn't around.
Thuggory Name Parody Series
This work will be a one-shot series consolidated into one story that has Thuggory doing various things based on what his name is (i.e. Thuggory will be thuggish, Muggory will be drinking a mug or mugging somebody, Chuggory will be chugging ale, etc).
Fishlegs' Second Impossible Quest
(Post Book 12) Fishlegs drags Hiccup into yet ANOTHER Impossible Quest when Fishlegs seems to have forgotten his lesson and was caught sending love poems to Barbara the Barbarian. Suffering scallops, Fishlegs! Didn't Hiccup just say to NOT do this again?! 💢😠😒😑🙄🤦‍♂️
Actually, wouldn't it be hilarious if that's how Hiccup got married because everyone thinks that the love letters were HIS and not Fishlegs, causing him to marry Barbara or some other chick. lol 🤣
Exile on Cannibal Isle
(Book 1) What if the adults had decided to banish their youth that evening after their failure, regardless of the thunderstorm? Our hapless youths end up becoming Outcasts — not on the Mainland, as planned, but on Cannibal Isle instead: an island filled with natives and Outcasts who had a fondness for human flesh. How will Hiccup, Thuggory, and Co. escape their current predicament? And will they return in time before the Green Death roasts their Tribes to well-done human kabobs?
The Tale of Two Swords
Told from Endeavor's POV (and sometimes from Stormblade's), this story delves into their respective origins, how they came into the hands of their respective owners, and the events leading up to the conflict between Alvin the Treacherous and Hiccup the Third. Two swords, two grudges, two wills, two forces, and two ideologies will clash for supremacy!
Hiccup's Saga
(Post Book 12) This story will focus on Hiccup's story AFTER his ascension as the 13th King of the Renewed Kingdom of the Wilderwest. As well as his achievements, his experiences, his struggles, and his life milestones. This will try to stay loyal to the books and to the books' epilogues.
Hiccup the First's Saga
Told from Hiccup's POV until he meets Wodensfang, which will then transition to Wodensfang's POV ever afterwards. This will get into the details of his birth, the war with the Uglithugs, the Hooligans getting ousted from the Mainland and their migration to Berk; it will get to Hiccup's childhood and adolescence, the start of the brutal Human-Dragon Wars, and how he eventually meets Wodensfang; then his defeat of Merciless/Green Death, the founding of the Kingdom of the Wilderwest, and his achievements and milestone events as King, until his death.
Hiccup the Second's Saga
This will focus on Hiccup the Second's life from birth to the time of his death, including his life with his adopted draconian family, and his reunion with his father and family, and his struggles ever afterwards. I plan on this being told from his POV. Not sure whether to have this be a third-person narrator like what the Books were, or to have it be in the first-person in the manner of Hiccup writing an autobiography.
What do you guys think?
Hiccup's Young Chief AU
This story idea dives into what would happen if Hiccup had to become the new Chief of Berk early on in his youth. From this point, we have several options to choose from.
1) Have this be a sequel to "Exile on Cannibal Isle" if the ending ends up being tragic for the adults, and Thuggory and Hiccup are left to pick up the pieces after slaying the Green Death.
2) Have this set in Book 2, if Stoick dies in the fight against Alvin, as a consequence of the curse of Grimbeard's treasure.
3) Have this set in Book 7, when Madguts the Murderous was about to execute Big Bertha and Stoick in revenge, and Hiccup failed to return on time.
4) Have this set in Book 9, when Stoick is missing (via Excellinor the Witch), and Hiccup never finds him again.
5) Have this set in Book 9 when all the adults are missing or perished, and the Warriors-to-Be are the only ones left in the School (aside from the Outcasts, obviously), and so everyone has to fight together in order to escape.
6) Have this set in Books 10/11 when Stoick dies in battle and Hiccup is forced to lead his Tribe in their fight against both Alvinsmen and Dragons.
Old Wrinkly's Saga
(Pre-HTTYD) This focuses on Old Wrinkly's POV, from his origins, to his life, to the events of Humungous Hotshot and his daughter, to her eventual marriage to Stoick, to how he came to live with the Hooligans, aaaaaall the way to Hiccup becoming King.
Valhallarama's Saga
(Pre-HTTYD) This story focuses on Val's POV from her birth, to her romance with Humungous, to her marriage to Stoick, to her son Hiccup's birth, to her many MANY Quests, aaaaaall the way to her death.
Alvin's Saga (or Saga of the Outcasts)
(Pre-HTTYD) This focuses on Alvin's origins: from his birth, to his upbringing, to how he turned his Tribe into one of the most "modern" and dangerous Tribes in the Archipelago, how he came across the Legend of the King's Lost Things, his fateful encounter with his future arch-nemesis Hiccup, and his gradual elevation to ultimate power. I might have this story end once he meets with Hiccup. Or maybe I end it with his death. That's up to you guys.
Snotface Snotlout's Saga
(Pre-HTTYD / HTTYD) This story focuses on Snotface Snotlout's origins: from his birth, to Hiccup's birth, to the origin of his rivalry with him, and so on — right up to his death! (Or I could keep him alive instead?)
Norbert the Nutjob's Saga
(Book 4) This story is about Norbert's origins: His birth and childhood, his father's death, his dream to go to the New World, and turning the Hysterics into the greatest Viking Tribe in the Archipelago; his fateful encounter and feud with Hiccup the Third, and his eventual downfall. And then his return!
Deadly Shadow's Saga
(Book 10) This story is about the Deadly Shadow's origins: From birth to hatchling, to their fateful encounter with their mistress, Fishlegs' mother; her meeting Alvin and giving birth to his child; the death of Termagant and the Disappearance of her only child; of their eventual conversion to Furious' rebellion, and of their reunion with Fishlegs; and much more.
Furious' Saga
(Book 8) This story is on Furious' origins: His birth, to his meeting with Hiccup the Second, his life with him, facing his 'brother's' death, imprisonment, his meeting with Hiccup the Third, his escape, his rebellion, and finally his departure.
The Viking Tribes of the Barbaric Archipelago
This is a nonfiction fanfic that dives into the geography, history, culture, and customs of every Viking Tribe in the Archipelago (in the Books). You can look at this as a Guide to the Archipelago (an All You Need to Know About X book), or as a history book composed by a future historian. Take your pick.

Thank you very much for your support! I look forward to the results of your votes, and I'll let you guys know what the top 3 choices were by the end of February 29th.
Long Live the Wilderwest!

I'm re-reading the HTTYD series again, and, as expected, I'm in love with Thuggory as a character again as well. 😍😭
