illuminaughtii, aka Blair Zon, aka Blair Victoria Kristy, aka the "biggest bully on YouTube" is taking legal action against OzMedia, one of her victims. He plans to make a video about her actions, but Blair plans to (with the help of a lawyer) take Oz's house from him. She will probably try to stake a claim on the house because she used to live with him.

OzMedia set up a GoFundMe for the legal fees and posted it to Twitter. It was retweeted by illuminaghtii's other victims including One Topic at a Time, The Click, and HiI'mWonder. Since then, the GoFundMe was reported by... someone. Wonder who...

Anyway, I hope he's able to figure it out with the GoFundMe Support team and I can't wait to see his response video.

“POLICE QUELL ANYOX PARADE,” The Province (Vancouver). February 4, 1933. Page 1.  --- Peace Restored After Demonstrators Make Dash For Town. ---- COMPANY STATEMENT --- VICTORIA. Feb. 4. (CP) Keeping their firearms in their holsters and using their flsts. thirteen officers of the provincial police stood off a body of approximately 400 strikers at Anyox on Thursday evening, repelling two attempts on the part of men to get into the town. In a third attempt the men joined up with another party at the Beach Mine. Order was immediately restored and the affair has simmered down to peaceful picketing of the plant, provincial officials were advised. 

Briefly reviewing the facts, a spokesman for the government said that the situation was well in hand and adequate measures were being taken to see that order Is preserved. It must be understood that the province would not provide relief for men who refused the offer of work, he added. 

Advices to the government showed that the majority of the large number of men at Anyox wish to continue at work. 

MAY CLOSE DOWN. Provincial officers at the scene were reinforced today, and latest reports showed that all was quiet. Representatives of the men have given an undertaking that no damage to property is intended. Provincial officials were chiefly concerned with the possibility that the plant might be permanently closed down by the operating company, which has not sold any copper since 1931 but maintained operations to give employment at the site. 

In a statement Issued today. Mr. Charles Bocking, president and managing director of the Granby company, declares: 'Recently radical agitators entered Anyox and succeeded In forming a union, known as the Mine Workers' Union of Canada, which is identified 'with the Workers' Unity League of Canada and the Red Internationale. 

"On Monday, January 30, these radicals, made up almost entirely of the foreign element employed at the mine and smelter, held a meeting and presented certain demands to the company officials, some of which were an increase in wages, reduction in board, and recognition of this union, advising the officials that if these demands were not met. they would call a strike at the mine on Wednesday, February 1, and would shut down the remainder of the plant on Friday February 3. 

WILLING TO WORK. "The company was unable to meet their demands, as the property had been operated at a heavy loss for the past two years, and has declared that under no circumstances would it recognize this radical union. As a result, the men have carried out their threats, and at this writing the plant is closed down entirely, with the exception of the heat, light and water system. 

"More than half of the employees have not joined the union, and desire to work, but. by reason of widespread intimidation of these loyal workmen and their families, they have been forced to abandon their work, and as a result over one thousand men, who have been regularly employed by the company, are now Idle. 

"There have been some clashes between the strikers and the police and at the present time a serious situation exists and the company is unable to operate.

"The plant at Anyox has, at the earnest solicitation of it local officials, operated for over two year for the benefit of its loyal workmen and the company regrets that by the actions of these foreign laborers, influenced by Communist agitators, the works have been closed down."

During the 2020 election, Disney bought itself the Anaheim City Council, ousting a group of reformers who wanted to cut off the flow of favors running from city hall to Disneyland and its surrounding attractions. At the time, I called Anaheim “a modern company town,” one where big business doesn’t literally own everything, but figuratively owns the mechanisms for decisionmaking and bends policy to its own ends.

But I didn’t know how close to the mark I actually was. Disney and the Anaheim Angels, the Major League Baseball franchise that Disney once owned, are currently at the center of a corruption scandal in Anaheim that has already resulted in the resignation of the city’s mayor.

According to documents from an FBI investigation, there is a “cabal” of elected officials and business leaders in the city, including a Disney representative, “who allegedly meet privately to influence public policy decisions.” In the investigative documents, Disney is identified as “Company A,” shaping fiscal, labor, and tax policy in the city.

One of the chief concerns about the stuff I cover here in this newsletter is that it results in an economy that works for no one but the biggest corporations. But those same policy choices, as Anaheim reveals, result in a democracy that only works for the biggest corporations, as well. Anaheim is a vital warning to anyone concerned about good governance and fair economics: Get your politicians out of the big subsidy business and away from too-cozy relationships with massive corporations.

To catch you up, now former Mayor Harry Sidhu resigned due to an investigation into an allegation that he helped craft a sweetheart deal for Angels owner Arte Moreno, selling him the land the Angels’ stadium currently sits on at a very steep discount, in return for a $1 million campaign contribution.

Disney, meanwhile, spent big in city elections in 2018 and 2020, dumping loads of money into city council races in order to oust antagonistic councilors, thus protecting its access to local subsidies and enabling it to beat back an effort to levy an additional pandemic-related fee on park visitors. The most dismaying stat from the 2020 election is that Disney alone spent six times as much on flyers and phone banking for one of its favored candidates as the incumbent council member spent on her entire campaign.

That spending bought Disney and other corporations “cabal” access, which it turned into episodes like this:

In March of 2021, an Anaheim City Council member read from a script at a council meeting in favor of issuing more than $200 million in municipal bond debt to help make up for pandemic-related revenue shortfalls.The script, according to the FBI affidavit, was written by an unnamed political consultant who did work for Disney, with input from Ms. Nocella. Later, the consultant asked the city council member’s office to edit the script so that it wouldn’t mention a Disney-owned parking facility, according to the affidavit.

A similar situation exists in Florida, where Disney uses political donations and a web of trade associations and front groups to wield its influence on everything from labor rules to land use to preemption of local ordinances that would harm its bottom line.

The clear nexus here is between public subsidies, private campaign donations, and other policy favors, a connection which academic research has found is very real and problematic. One study last year found that more corporate subsidy spending in a state results in higher campaign contributions for incumbent politicians. Specifically, when a state starts dishing out “large” subsidies — defined as a big jump from the historical baseline — then:

Annual campaign contributions increase by approximately 38.4% (or $738,100) in the average state from construction and labor unions, 20.5% (or $158,600) from lobbyists and lawyers who represent large firms in the political process, and 106.8% (or $122,000) from large business advocacy and trade organizations.

Another study found that if a corporation makes state-level campaign contributions, it “is nearly four times more likely to receive an [incentive] award, and the award is 63 percent larger.” And finally, a 2016 study found “that a greater number of lobbyists and campaign contributions from businesses leads to more subsidy spending, all else equal.”

These numbers should all make intuitive sense: Corporation-specific incentives, by necessity, require a too-cozy relationship between elected officials and corporate leaders, so when the subsidies flow, so too do the re-election efforts.

But that coziness also leads to overt corruption, which is plain to see in Anaheim, the Buffalo Billion fiasco, or an Iowa film tax credit corruption scandal that wound up with the program’s head convicted of felony misconduct.

This isn’t just anecdotal. I have numbers here, too. According to a study by the Kansas City Federal Reserve, places with more “troubled political cultures” spend more money on corporate subsidies. Specifically:

Cities and counties in states with troubled political cultures demonstrate the greatest willingness to offer business development incentives, the evidence indicating that increasing the rate at which government officials are convicted of federal corruption crimes by 1 per 100,000 residents over a 13 year period is associated with a 2.9 percent greater chance that a community will offer business incentives.

So according to the history and the academic research, Anaheim’s situation is exactly what we should expect when cities spend so much on massive subsidies and other favors for big corporations: Those corporations then become the de facto government, shaping decisions out of the public eye, and walking off with public resources.

As the dollar amounts of these deals climbs and the use of restrictive contracts in them grows across the country, I’d expect to see more Anaheims come out of the woodwork.

But there are things to do, rather than wallow in the doom of it all. Help elect better people. Use open records and open meetings laws to your advantage. Push for better rules at all levels of government, and diversified economies that support small businesses, thus spreading out the power that any one business or industry can exert on lawmakers.

Communities can take on the Amazons and Disneys of the world and win. We all just need to share the resources and tactics that make those wins possible.

I want. Four to get appreciation. Because

Four gave a ton of unnoticed help when Twilight was injured

The fight with Wild was difficult, and I know we're all concerned about his negative view of the shadow crystal

But Four did something that no one else really thought of to help- He took care of Twi's stuff

From the beginning he told Twilight to not worry about them

So Four took care of pretty much everything but the others (that Sky and Wars handled)

He took care of Epona

Which is so very important- he took care of Twilight's horse. After her arrival at the stable Four followed up on her

And for Epona, a horse so attached to her human, having some company can help so much for reassurance

He took care of Twilight's stuff

He got Twi's shield- his bags and equipment, and organized it into one place

And he was worried. He obviously found the shadow crystal while handling Twi's stuff, but his negative reactions to it were out of concern.

Also- because of his placement in this scene

I'm fairly convinced Four was ready to start cooking before Wild showed up (since he's beside the counter with food supplies). At the very least he had the basket of fruit out for everyone -but he was literally standing with food behind him- he thought of everything

And he did housekeeping!

Wars payed for the inn, so Four took care of the inn

Realistically these boys were probably not too concerned with tidyness. Four got all of Twi's things on one table, and took care of the room they stayed in

Organizing tables and Twi's things, having food supplies ready, and opening the curtains- overall he was the one tidying up the inn

Four helped in a huge way! He took care of Twi's horse (Epona is so important), his equipment and shield and bag, as well as the other rooms in the inn

Four filled in all the little tasks that others didn't think of. He helped in ways that were needed, but not obvious

There's a lot of problems with the shadow crystal and with Wild, and I don't know what's gonna happen in the future

But don't forget this- don't forget that Four was one who stepped up in an almost unnoticeable way

Don't forget that when everyone was barely holding it together, Four visited Twilight's horse and took care of his things

No matter what develops in the future- this amount of care shown is important ya know?

I made a thing!

I have spent the past few weeks working rigorously on this project. As soon as I saw you could make a house in Tears of the Kingdom, I knew what I wanted to do.

I made one of every room, except for the Garden Pond(which I might make, I just had difficulty figuring out where I would even put it) and the Outdoor atairs(which I refuse to make, because making stairs sucks!)

Each section of the house is held on by magnets. They aren’t very strong, but they were cheap and hold it together well enough. I might replace them with slightly larger, stronger magnets in the future, though.

Here are the weapon rooms. Shield, sword, and bow rooms, in that order.

The kitchen and bedroom pieces.

The shrine and study rooms.

And the paddock and flower garden. I didn’t have any flowers, so I used flock. And the only flock that I had that wasn’t green was fall orange. Something to fix later. I also need to find some hay bales for the paddock.
