while im very much supportive of the anti work movement and in favour of reducing the amount of hours people are required to work to earn a living,,, sooo much of the rhetoric seems to centre around 9-5 office type jobs where productivity is measured by tasks completed etc like every single 4 day work week experiment i've seen has been smth along those lines and bangs on about how workers are more productive in their output and do "5 days worth of work in 4" etc or aim for majority remote work when like. that isn't possible in most service jobs like healthcare etc. even tho service industries are some of the worst when it comes overworking and burnout

#like im not saying there *isn't* talk about or action on improving work in service industries #but it seems to be an afterthought compared to aforementioned output-based office type jobs #even tho reduced hours and number of shifts are Absolutely needed in service jobs #but it's a lot more difficult to implement due to the nature of the jobs and the current massive amounts of shortages in these areas #like im approaching this from someone who works in healthcare where there are barely enough people to cover day shifts let alone night shif #and yeah a big part of that shortage is bc of the overworking that's led to burnout and many people quitting #and companies/governments being stingy and hiring the absolute bare minimum staff to operate at #so implementing changes like say 6 hour shifts and 4 day work weeks would require them to hire a tonne more people #(as they shouldve in the first place) #but even then they probably wont get even close to getting enough to cover even just current work practices adequately #let alone improved conditions with shorter and reduced number of shifts per person #while also maintaining pay at a liveable amount #tl;dr it's a shittonne more complicated than most 4 day work week office experiments have shown and we need to talk about it more

saw a video about 2 player ttrpgs and one of them was like "this one's about a pretend marriage" and i was like oh? and i looked it up on itch (eyes on the prize, fyi) and it's 50% as of right now and i was like OH? and i bought it immediately & ive read most of it and i am a big fan. and i KNOW that i have friends who would have fun playing it (it's a 2 player or 4 player game; the 4 player variant has 2 fake couples) but asking them is going to be so cringe. yeah we're gonna make up people and pretend to be them and then pretend to pretend to get married and the characters when they start their pretending they're gonna be like "oh we don't have any romantic feelings towards each other this is strictly plot" but then (get this) they will start to develop real feelings for each other. and we're gonna act it out together and pretend to be them but don't worry! we have no romantic feelings towards one another. this is strictly plot. when WE (irl) pretend to be in love it's actually platonic, unlike the people who we are pretending to be to each other. so do you have like 2-5 hours you wanna dedicate to that next week

and the worst part is that's 100% what i want. like i have roleplayed romance before with friends it is literally not a big deal because the whole point of roleplay is that the character ISN'T you. but with a fake relationship the crushing weight of dramatic irony hovers behind me

#keese draws #warrior cats #warrior cats oc #spiraling upwards #these are all the og leaders and deputies of each of the 4 main clans! #and cone is the only of the og deputies who didn’t die before their leader lol #also two of these are mother daughter duos with bonestar being conetalons mom and bristlestar being gullspots mom #gullspots died during a horrible flood in their old camp #and this was pretty early on in the clan’s life too so no one else was rly qualified to be deputy #she ended up choosing honeyfeather as her new deputy which honey did. not take well. #she had be among the injured in the flood and had just lost her tail along with her best friend #so she was not in a place to be deputy at All #and things would only get worse for her when bristle died only a few months later of old age #because of this she has. complicated feelings on bristle to put it lightly. #frostflow died from an infected wound after a nasty fall which left pretty much the entire clan devastated #foggystar didn’t want to force anyone who was grieving to become deputy so he decided on a cat who had only been a part of the clan for #about a year after his old owners died in a house fire #his name was daisy and he’s one of my favorites and currently he’s the youngest of the four leaders #pigeon died via snake bite which is ironic for reasons I won’t go into now but everyone was devastated blah blah blah but really this did #fuck up most of the older members of the clan a lot as pigeon played such a vital role in them all being alive here today #ratstar ended up choosing her other crush (more complicated edition) as her new deputy since she was the right hand man to the cat who #started the revolution that brought them all together but abt a year later it became clear to both of them that nightfur wasn’t able to #handle the pressure of this anymore so she retired #after that ratstar just tried to pick the most responsible looking cat and she kind of succeeded #I say kind of because she Was but then 3 of her children got murdered and her best friend died right before ratstar dropped dead #so now she’s barely holding things together and has some newfound anger issues #and then my girl conestar just got to hang out and become leader when her mom died lucky her #well no she was absolutely devisated when her mom died as bonestar was like the number one cat she cared abt #she had been terrified of losing her mom for good for years so even though she could tell her mom was getting old and was able to talk to #her directly about these fears she still had a hard time moving forwards

#pan rambles #My ramble is gonna be a bit somber so feel free to just scroll past it! #but anyways #I think about that insert a lot #They didn't want the life of a thief #They only started because their mother was being tricked by loan sharks to they simply stole from said loan sharks- #(oh yeah. this s/i had a mother and she's her whole character and e everything.) #(Most my s/is have parents but I never delve on them because their relationship with them is bad/complicated usually) #(this one is different mainly bc was more based on my Sona which may be called Panchi but is like it's own separate entity from my inserts) #back to the point though. #They didn't want to become a thief but ultimately they stole and now they felt like they had no other choice but to continue #They meet friends ofc but they still feel guilt for their life of a thief. even if they're closer to a robin hood type of thief #they still feel guilty. And then they eventually meet L.upin #and like it or not...they become charmed by him. They're both leaders of their own groups and pretty smart. #The two were on opposing teams at first but their groups eventually get along and Panchi is happy. They were always happy to help L.upin #and eventually they realize that the reason they like helping him/seeing him is because they've fallen in love with him #They've fallen for the great L.upin the T.hird. The two have had their ship tease moments but it never went beyond that #And unfortunately for them...The love isn't quite requited. There's this scene between him and F.ujiko at the end of Part 5 that just. #Hurts Panchi. The feeling that the one they love-the first person they fell for simply loves someone else. #oh man that reminds me of this moment in Part 4. Da Vinci gives each character a challenge of sorts near the end #Panchi was placed in a Perfect Dream world and their challenge was to find what was wrong with it/to snap out of it #what snaps them back to reality was the fact that L.upin wasn't in the “perfect” dream world. Their feelings for him were that strong #Anyways. point is. This s/i has a life they didn't want and in the end didn't get the guy- #It's quite a melancholic s/i when I think about them too hard. they work so much and never catch a break #A part of me still does like L.upin and wants to go back to shipping him but then I just get insecure (?) and then when you go to the Afterlife in "The Sun"/(Don't Fear) The Reaper paths and he says that you'd do anything for a shot at survival (like a certain netrunner)

Question answered for ya anon!!! I believe you are referring to this recent set of screen shots that I took of the couple, but I also made a quick little writing about them a few months back. I’ve got some ship names written down, but idk how these things work plz send help I love these two together but don’t know what to do with them.

I wrote this as Nick and Magnolia announcing to the companions that they are now an official couple after they danced around each other for a few months without knowing that their fondness for the other was mutual. (For a detective Nick was really bad at picking up signals)

Nick Valentine: Not sure why someone as beautiful and talented as Magnolia would choose him, a battered up and broken toaster, to be her lover. She’s the kind of woman who can have anyone one she wants in the world, it makes him feel a bit insecure. But after some assurance from his new ladylove that he’s “man enough” for her and she’s not looking for someone “better and human”, he grows more confident in their relationship. He’s the one clapping the loudest and proudest in the crowd at the Third Rail after each of her songs.

Jasmine: Overly ecstatic that her Dad found himself a loving partner who cares about him just as much as she and Ellie does. The girl is more than willing to talk and bond with Magnolia over anything from stories to games, opening up to her quicker than she does with most. Her entire face lights up when she and Nick stop by to visit Mags or she comes by the office for dinner and to stay the night. She ends up slipping here and there by referring to Magnolia as Mama on occasion, which everyone finds absolutely adorable.

Magnolia: Always had her eyes on Nick from the moment she first saw him march into the Third Rail hot on a missing persons case. He stuck out to her, not because he’s a mechanical synth but because of his kind demeanor and overall gentlemanly personality. She found herself drawn even more to the detective after watching him interact with his daughter, the soft tenderness he had while speaking to her, then the firm protectiveness he got when he had to defend her. (Mags really saw him be a father to his daughter and went, “Ah yes, boyfriend material.”)

Piper Wright: Laughs a “Finally” under her breath when she first hears the news. Being a reporter and close friends with the two, she picked up on their budding chemistry pretty early on. She had to start nudging the topic of Nick and Magnolia becoming a couple when it became plainly and almost painfully obvious that there was attraction, even speculating with Jas on the subject and making plans to get the two to interact more.

Codsworth: It brings a metaphorical tear to his three eyes when he hears that Nick is courting Magnolia and he sees them waking hand-in-hand. One of the things he misses about the old world is watching new couples walk with their arms linked down the sidewalk or through the park, enwrapped in each others eyes and their young, blooming love.

Preston Garvey: Claps Nick on the back and gives the pair a hearty congratulations, wishing them nothing less than good fortune and strength to get through any hard times that may come. It’s comforting to know that folks are still able to come around and find each other in the Wasteland, he’ll be the one to help make sure it’s safer for more people to settle down.

Curie: Claps her hands and cheers with delight when the good news comes her way and she watches them come by with their arms linked together. She goes on a rambling on the positive effects love can have on a persons overall physical and mental health, the happy couple smiling at her rambling and patiently listening to every word.

Cait: Says that it’s about damn time those two became a couple! Even a blind mole rat could tell that they both took a fancying for each other, and she almost outright yelled “just kiss already” on several different occasions when the pair looked moments away from doing so.

Deacon: Proudly proclaims that he knew from the start that Maggie and Nicky would eventually get together and that he even did some influencing to get the two to bond. He’s like their fairy godmother in a way, made sure their relationship stayed on the right path.

Danse: (Post Blind Betrayal) Congratulates the new couple with a sincere smile. Nick had been one of his biggest support when he had to come to terms with his new identity as a synth, despite the fact that the former paladin hadn’t exactly always been friendly to him. He can only hope that one day that he can find his special someone to call his own.

Hancock: Couldn’t be happier for his good friend the old circuitboard and jazz singer when he sees them get all lovey-dovey with each other. He jokingly pokes Nick on his shoulder with his finger and question if he’s planning on stealing away Goodneighbors sweetheart from under his nose and leave the Third Rail without its main source of entertainment.

MacCready: They kind of remind him of when he and Lucy first got together. Except that he isn’t a badass synth detective who goes around the Commonwealth doing good and making his family and partner proud, but his Lucy was lovely and beautiful just like Magnolia is. He just hopes the new couple can have more time together than he and Lucy did, it’s very precious and can slip away before your eyes. (I’m not crying, you’re crying!)

X6: At first he assumes that both synths are malfunctioning when he hears about their relationship and sees for himself that they are indeed walking hand-in-hand and referring to each other as their lover. It’s a bit difficult for him to understand the concept that two synths can indeed have real romantic feelings for others. He comes around soon enough once he observes several occasions where the two interacted with each other with affection. Besides, Nick already has shown he loves his daughter dearly, so who can say that he can’t love Mags?

Strong: Bro doesn’t care.

Dogmeat: Notices that his favorite synth detective has started spending more time with the nice lady with the pretty voice, and they are very happy when they are together. He can sense that they have something special between them, and he loves seeing them so happy! It makes him jump up on his hind legs and wags his tail with barks of joy. He wants to join in and will leap in-between them while they are walking side-by-side, bombing them with puppy kisses!

Moral Of The Story: “Oh come on, just one little kiss! I've had all my shots!” Is one of the worst yet funniest pickup lines ever. (Please don’t try this while drunk, and probably not while sober either)

Ghiaccio's White Album is probably a really convenient Stand to have around with Grateful Dead. I imagine he could keep the rest of the group from aging so it can specifically kill the target while keeping the members of La Squadra safe from harm's way. (I kinda wonder what the Grateful Dead fight would've looked like with Ghiaccio there or what missions would look like with him and Prosciutto paired up instead. There would be no need for the freakout over losing ice cubes and Bruno's group would probably try to use the freezing ability as refuge only for Ghiaccio to go "Ha! No, sucker!" and reverse the effect or just start freezing them to death or something)

#rambles #short posts #i complain about VA's writing a lot but i will say i genuinely enjoy the stand abilities and fights (besides the final fight but yknow) #stand abilities evolve a lot throughout the series. in part 3 they were very simplistic and kind of dull/forgettable #you can tell the series was still working out stand logic and what it wanted to do with them #parts 6 and 7 are kind of mixed bags for me- some abilities are cool and others just got weird #(complicated abilities can make for cool fights but IMO if you need several pages of exposition to make the power sensical... #it's probably not a very good power) #and i'd say part 8 missed more than it hit when it came to stands. some of them were cool but others were overly complex to the point- #-of looping back around to being boring and just making me want to skim the fight to the end #but parts 4 & 5 hit a sweet spot of just unique enough to be very jojo and make for some cool fights but also understandable and fun #i remember when i first watched part 5 and thought ''cool!!'' to myself when i saw the abilities and how they were used #you did have the whole problem with king crimson being confusing and all but that's not really a problem with the ability itself #more the fact that it was hard to communicate its ability via manga format which i could do a whole ramble about tbh sdjfksld #though some descriptions of KC get contradictory to how it behaves in-universe which is annoying #and also it was too powerful for the characters to defeat which is why the requiem stuff had to happen which is really annoying #but umm i digress

Silly little Peanut Gallery AU thoughts because brain keeps obsessing over Jolyne and Jotaro’s dynamic

Because just. How can I not?

Jolyne learning about all the trauma her father has and what he went through, all without ever being allowed a break and how it just piled on top of his preexisting issues

Jotaro seeing the consequences of what his future choices have on his daughter’s life and how his attempts to keep her safe put her in more danger and only hurt her.

Both of them realizing how much their situations were fucked and how neither of them could control it.

How Jolyne’s Father had supremely fucked up and what he’d done wasn’t okay, but at the same time it also hadn’t been entirely his fault. He’d been forced onto the battlefield of a world he barely understood when he was 17 years old and hadn’t been allowed to leave it for almost 3 decades

And just. Imagine how their relationship would progress. In the beginning it would probably be a bit rocky because Jolyne is still trying to deal with All Her Emotions and Jotaro……. it’s Part 3 Jotaro. All his First Meeting People Skills were used on the Crusaders and he hasn’t had time to get them back yet.

They wouldn’t hate each other, but they definitely wouldn’t be getting along. Not yet at least

And then they all witness Stardust and how in the first 20 minutes Jotaro tried to literally shoot himself.

And then it all just keeps building. Holly’s condition, the constant Stand Fights, how the injuries build up, and it just keeps going and going and going without any chance of a break

It doesn’t excuse what Jotaro had done to Jolyne. However, now she’s starting to understand why

Things are….. a bit awkward during the first couple days they spend in DiU. Jolyne is having to wrestle with these new revaluations and Jotaro is very freshly traumatized, but luckily for them Part 4 is pretty chill for a bit before it gets into the chaos, so they have time to work things out

They talk about things, but most importantly they plan. They don’t really know how all this works, but Jotaro swears he’s going to do what he can to avoid the mistakes Jolyne’s father had made.
