there really is a genre of post of people who's online experiences are Not Universal making some wild claims

#like that post that claimed sites like neopets didnt exist anymore #or that there arent roleplaying forums anywhere #etc etc #like. yes it is possible to go on the internet and only go on like. the big social medias #but there ARE still many other sites outside that that are very worth checking out #hell. flash game websites and similar still very much exist!! #postatoes #like. i just feel sympathy for the OP when i see those posts because the posts are always so sad #over a nostalgia that is still there if you walk outside of the walmart of social medias and look for holes in the wall #like. has the internet changed? absolutely. but so much of the posts are less about that and more like. #the person browses the internet as an adult in a different way than they did as a kid #they arent looking up ''cool games'' and downloading a virus on their computer #as a counterpoint maybe kids DONT look this stuff up now and stick to tiktok or w/e /are missing out on so many fun websites #i wouldnt know #but it does bug me when i see people say these sites are gone forever when they arent

I went to go watch Kungliga Smycken, the amazing documentary about the Swedish royal jewelry collection, to get in the Nobel mindset before Saturday and found out that it is being taken off of SVT's video player on December 10th so make sure you watch it while you still can!!!

The documentary features interviews with Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria, and Princess Christina and stunning shots of jewels. It's not geo-blocked so everyone can watch it. There are Swedish captions that I used to be able to translate using Google's translation extension but it's not working for me anymore. Is it working for anyone else or is it just me? Does anyone have any other suggestion for how to translate the captions? If you can't get the captions to translate and don't speak Swedish here are my liveblogs from when I originally watched it.

why does my antivirus have to do everything at fucking snail speed

#wanted to download a game. downloaded the installer ran a scan because I scan Everything #antivirus says it’s good. I scan it three more times because my anxiety says so. still fine #run installer. installs game. go to scan game because my anxiety loves me it (it does not) #antivirus flips out and is like ‘virus detected we deleted the virus from your computer!!’ I go ‘wait what’ and check and yeah the games #.exe is gone so…. you’re telling me the installer was fine but not the game????? what #well that makes me freak out because either this was a false positive or there Was a virus or hey what if the installer was a false #negative or something (have I mentioned yet that nothings actually happened on my laptop yet) #so I go to run a Full Scan - not a regular scan but a scan of everything on my entire laptop just in case #but also I’ve done full scans before and they’re slow as hell for me always (probably because I have a bunch of stuff on my laptop) #anyways it’s taking forever and I am not a patient person but also I Have To Wait #so now I’m just sitting here like ‘hurry tf up’

I don’t think you folks understand how much I love m.u.g.e.n. It’s just…. Kinda amazing how it even exists. Like someone HAD to take the time and energy to MAKE THE ENGINE ITSELF!!

Someone had to build the fight factory software from scratch!! Someone had to figure a way to implement and add new stages and backgrounds. Someone had to figure a way to change the HUD system. People had to code these things in a way that didn’t break the engine itself.

And the people, or rather the company, Elecbyte? Poof. Gone. We haven’t seen or heard from them since like what…. The mid 2000s?

shouldnt an anti-virus program catch if you download or install something thats not trustworthy?

generally ive not had problems with gog unlocked, and just stayed faaaaaaar away from the section where they say "if missing files error occur install everything in x and y folders" (which steam unlocked also says i saw)

the antivirus program i have is the built in trash garbo for windows that just doesn't notify you if anything bad is happening you have to find out and fix it yourself 💔
