Anti-abortion activists took that argument to the Supreme Court last month to drastically restrict access to mifepristone, one of the two pills used in medication abortion, which research has shown has continued to grow in popularity since the FDA allowed them to be prescribed virtually and sent by mail starting in December 2021.
Project 2025, an initiative led by dozens of conservative groups and spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation, repeatedly cited the Comstock Act—by its statute numbers, not by name—throughout “Mandate for Leadership,” its blueprint for Trump’s next term. Given Comstock, it stated, “the Department of Justice in the next conservative administration should therefore announce its intent to enforce federal law against providers and distributors of [abortion] pills.”
Jonathan Mitchell, the conservative lawyer behind the Texas abortion ban, told the New York Times in February, “We don’t need a federal ban when we have Comstock on the books,” cautioning Trump and anti-abortion groups to keep quiet about the Comstock Act until after the election.
-----
It could do a whole lot more than ban abortion. Comstock doesn't just apply to actions. It applies to everything, including information. It can be used to make sex education, queer subjects, porn of any kind (including fan fiction), feminism, contraception, premarital sex, being transgender, same sex acts, books, art, movies, divorce, etc all illegal.
Basically it could be used to make anything they don't like illegal. All they have to do is call something immoral. The law is already in existence. It's never been specifically repealed. It's an enormous landmine that the GOP can't wait to trigger.

Comm - Lady Comstock (Elizabeth TF/TG)
As Fourth of July and TFTuesday align this year, there's hardly a better time to share this set of comm sketches completed once again by the talented @Fokk3rs - this time featuring my lady sona dressing the part as she emulates Bioshock Infinite's deuteragonist, Elizabeth. Fingers crossed that she may find some similar powers available to her as well, eh?

More little mama au stuff
Comstock isn’t very stable physically, he has about a good 12 hours before he’s force back to into the void I suppose. A present from Elisabeth.
Comstock is not a good guy, he’s the worst in Booker.
Booker is actively trying to change his life for the better. No drinking or gambling. He wants to be a good daddy to Annabelle!
Booker has accepted Comstock as a version of himself. Honestly Booker hates the guy but there’s a strange love there. When ever they are together it ends up in sex.
This is the comstock before Columbia was off the ground. Aka the farmer with visions.
Comstock tells Booker what he needs to hear, mostly trying to manipulate the man but Booker let’s him say all that sweet stuff. The man is 100% full of shit.
Elisabeth broke the cycle by pushing Booker into a new time and place. So now Booker is in America 1950s, gut starting to swell with Annabelle. But he’s on a sheep farm so the nose bleeds and catching up is easier.
Booker lives in the hand house, a place where farm hands live. A two room house set up for him and Annabelle.
Booker is the only one that can ride/approach the horses.
Jack and Delta along with the little sisters scare the horses.
Every once and a while Elisabeth appears, checking up on Booker and Annabelle.
When the time comes, the Lutece’s come dressed in white both oddly excited to help with the delivery of the child. Only to find Booker laying in a hayloft holding a good sized baby girl nursing her. They were very disappointed.
The lutesce’s are not physical they are still the same all knowing, kinda here kinda not. Selves.
Annabelle is the first baby to be born on the farm :3

Way back in 2022 when leaks revealed that the Supreme Court was going to overturn Roe v. Wade, I said that they may try “to send us back to 1972, but the fact of the matter is that they can’t, because to do that they’d have to get rid of the internet and 50 years of medical advances,” referring in part to the availability and safety of abortion medication. I regret to inform you that the anti-choice Religious Right saw that video, thought I made a good point, and decided they were going to have to go ahead and get rid of the internet and 50 years of medical advances.
[…]
As of this filming, the Supreme Court of the US is currently hearing a case that could effectively ban abortion nationwide. The good news is that experts seem to agree that that’s not going to happen, yet. The bad news is that there are signs the conservative lunatics on the bench are willing to entertain other ways that Christian conservatives can decide what medicine everyone else gets to have.
[…]
The case is so ridiculous that even the lunatic regressive judges have expressed skepticism during arguments. They would obviously LOVE to rule in favor of the Alliance of Doctors Who Hate Women, but this would be a bridge too far even for them, especially mere months before a very important presidential race that may well be decided by the majority of Americans who steadfastly refuse to agree that the government should tell women and other birthing people and doctors what to do. The anti-abortion push is wildly unpopular across the nation and every new dumbfuck ruling just makes it that much more likely that people will turn up for Biden in November.
So that’s good, but what’s not good has been seeing the conservative lunatic justices batting around some ideas for what’s next, and that involves the Comstock laws. Comstock is what’s known as a Zombie Law, in that it hasn’t been enforced since at least the 1970s but now that Roe v. Wade is gone, it is unfortunately once again relevant. It involves “obscenity,” which, when Comstock was first introduced in 1873, was defined as “whatever your local pastor says it is,” including but not limited to pornography, sex toys, saying the words “cheese and crackers” when we all know you mean “Jesus Christ,” and yes, birth control and abortifacients, and information on where to procure such things.
Comstock said that you can’t use the postal service to send any “obscene” materials, and then later added that you can’t use any private service like FedEx to do it, either.
[…]
[J]ust to be clear, the ban wasn’t just about sending things to individual people, but it also applied to stocking the actual OB-GYN clinics that would then provide contraceptives and whatnot to patients.
[…]
And so, with Roe v. Wade gone, the reanimated corpse of Comstock is threatening to come for our abortions. Even married people’s abortions. Even Blue State abortions. This would be a federal ban on abortions, and the only thing that is required to kickstart it is for someone to just start enforcing it again, which is already in the playbook for Project 2025, Donald Trump’s playbook, which also includes just lighting the planet on fire and getting it over, already.
Obviously, blue states would challenge such enforcement, but guess where that will end up? Yep, the Supreme Court, where as I speak Justices Thomas and Alito just can’t stop talking about Comstock and how weird it is that the FDA thinks they can just get away with flagrantly providing women healthcare while the moldering corpse of this very constitutional law is standing in the corner with sunglasses on, waiting to be fully reanimated.
So yeah, that’s what’s going on. Vote in November, obviously, but also consider telling your Congress critter to repeal Comstock.

News of Nixon
Oops, wrong Nixon. This same issue contained other gems, including an ad for agents to hawk an 800-page illustrated book on the practice of medicine as she is right after the second Comstock law took effect. The book, “The Funny Side of Physic” has been converted and posted for download by our friends at Gutenberg.org (link) Gutenberg accepts donations. The Comstock law–which provided 10 years…

Love being locked out of all my school accounts so I can’t email my teachers and getting turned around constantly and then missing your favorite class which is doing a fun walking tour.
Im so upset right now. All I wanted was to go to class and learn about New York in the fucking gilded age. Plus my prof is fun and cool. Literally said kink and dildos in one paragraph and made a joke about Comstock having a break down about onlyfans.
Context for why comstock would have a meltdown over only fans.
