Hi! You're part of the Rosary Confraternity, right? May I ask, how does one continue to pray, specifically the Holy Rosary, when one is in a bad mood? I feel terribly hopeless to continue as someone struggling with Scrupulosity. It has gotten real bad to the point I would inflict physical harm to myself. Yes, I am part of the Rosary Confraternity. I understand the feelings and situation you are going through because I faced the same one of self harm in my past. It would get so bad, the anxiety, because I worried so much about everything. I would hurt myself, skip school, and hide in the cemetery near my house. I even prayed to die at one point because I was at such a low. It wasn’t until I had a major health problem that I decided I needed to change. I started paying attention in church more than ever before. I attended the weekly Rosary mt church held, because I was about to go blind from too much spinal fluid pushing up against my optic nerves. I found immediate relief, the anxiety was wiped away each time I went to mass and prayed the Rosary afterwards. Praying the Rosary, and recovering the Body and Blood of Jesus is what has healed me. Amen, I don’t pray to die anymore, the self harm has stopped, the anxiety is next to nothing, I went to confession for the first time in over 14 years, and I found my calling: become a saint in Heaven. But enough about my past.

When we pray the Rosary, no matter which one of the four, we take our focus off of ourselves and the rest of the world’s anxieties and instead, we focus on Jesus and His mother, Mary. The deeper we pray this mental and vocal prayer, the more we can dive into each mystery. I pray the Rosary in all moods except anger. If I feel anger, I need to calm myself back down first. You can either make it a routine or do it totally at random, you are free to decide what works best. I love praying mine right before I sleep because the house is quiet and my room is dark and it helps me focus.

In the Rosary Confraternity, our goal is to pray at least three different Rosaries a week, specifically the Sorrowful, Glorious, and Joyful. Anything else is like icing on the cake. It’s free, anyone can join, and it’s not a sin if you miss completing the three. Even if you can only pray one part of one Rosary to the best of your ability only, your efforts will suffice. Don’t forget, God hears all your prayers and knows your struggles. You gained blessings from joining the Rosary Confraternity.
