You know, normally I get annoyed when Americans (and it's almost always Americans) mix up Ireland and Scotland. It's more frequent than you think, and annoying every time. We're two related, but distinct cultures.
I bring this up because I fell down a wikipedia rabbit hole today, and discovered a Scottish DC Comics character who apparently served in the 1920s IRA.
Normally, I'd be annoyed by that, but I'm willing to forgive it this time, because it's this guy:

So Congorilla, also known as Congo Bill; was an early 20th century adventurer whose mind was transferred into an immortal mystic golden gorilla, later becoming a member of the Justice League
I have recently discovered that prior to turning into a gorilla, he was a member of the IRA and fought in the Irish War of Independence
So I can't get this image out of my head of this golden gorilla with a gun running after a bunch of Black and Tans singing rebel songs. That there are photos of a gorilla in a suit next to Michael Collins.
Also you know Bill is banned from using the JLA’s social media cause he was keep heckling the British government and the Queen
