Guilt

Part 6 of RK1K Prompt Week.

Guilt was a useless emotion. All it did was let you feel bad, without actually doing anything about it except wallow in self-pity. Markus had determined that guilt was an indicator only—to tell you to take action, to admit wrongdoing and face the consequences. He had felt immense guilt at Carl’s death, and as he wept at his father’s gravestone, Markus realized that this feeling would never go away while he left things unfinished with Leo. Whether Leo agreed to make amends or not, as long as Markus knew that he had done everything in his power to resolve the anger and hurt, he could be at peace with himself.

Markus felt Connor could definitely take this lesson to heart. Rarely leaving his quarters other than to leave Jericho’s jurisdiction, Connor shrank back as he passed other androids, his LED a crimson target in the cloak of shadows with which he hid himself. There were some, it was true, who still viewed the ex-Deviant Hunter with suspicion or even disdain, but for the most part the Deviant community gazed upon Connor with only pity. Pity which also wasn’t the morale booster Connor needed. What Connor did need, Markus decided, was an outlet—a way to express his negative emotions in a way that was conducive to healing.

Though not specifically an android whose original purpose was psychiatry, as Carl’s original caregiver, the RK200’s programming did include basic counseling knowledge and practices. This, combined with Markus’ own interests, culminated in the beginning of art therapy sessions with Connor.

As he nodded encouragingly, looking from the bleeding roses withering twisted on the canvas to the tentative smile blossoming on Connor’s face, Markus decided that guilt was definitely out, and art therapy definitely in.

Working through Connor’s guilt would be neither quick nor easy, but Markus would be there every step of the way.

Prompt: Vampire-Hunter AU/Love on the battlefield

Amanda was sitting in the big, wooden chair in the great hall and her cold, brown eyes rested on Connor. A cold chill crawled down Connor’s spine, he’d always hated that chair, it reminded him too much of a throne. “What about the guild leader?” Amanda asked in a condescending tone as he approached. “He got away.” Connor admitted and steeled himself, he knew he wasn’t going to receive kind words after his repeated failure to catch Markus. “You’ve become sloppy, Connor,” Amanda said without any emotion. “Maybe I should send one of your brothers to catch him, give them a chance to prove themselves.” Connor grit his teeth, “I can kill him.” “Of course you can,” Amanda’s voice was icy. “And you will. You will not disappoint me again, will you, Connor?” “No, ma’am.” Connor resisted the urge to look away. “I will find and kill the vampire leader.” “Good boy,” a pleased smile spread on her face, “don’t disappoint me again.”

headcanons but theyre super random cuz im a little insane n on a tumblr kick tdy?? apparently??

• the blue eye markus got made him dyslexic. i cant explain where or why i have this hc, but its one of my faves. the rest of the jericrew + connor help him before meeting n stuff

• markus also has a rlly bad memory (the junkyard messed him up bro), so like 99% of his speeches r straight improv. that man has no clue whats coming out of his mouth

• connor looks like the nice one, but is rlly a reclusive asshole, whos a little catty. rk900/nines, on the other hand, has a rbf n kinda looks like a dick, but is rlly the nice one (ppl get that mixed up, n then r v confused y connor js rolls his eyes n ignores them, while nines apologizes) (sixty’s js a little shit regardless. looks n plays the part!!!!)

• connor n north r a horrible duo. they get themselves into shit that no one can figure out how they even got there in the first place. markus ends up w them while praying to god that he can get all three of their asses out of there before they all die

• connor n chloe dated for awhile, but broke up cuz she realized she was a lesbian LMAO

• north is a sap but ppl need to like rlly bring it out of her
