rp rules
status: open
hello!! I'm brand new to roleplaying on tumblr so I'm not very aware of how the whole process happens. I ask you for patience if I ever have questions or I'm doing something differently.
I would prefer to start with tumblr DMs. however, I may start using discord in the near future so feel free to ask me about that as well.
there's a secret phrase somewhere in my rules that I ask of you to send me so I know you read everything.
literacy
I range from semi-literate to adv. literate. I like to write multiple paragraph responses with a fair amount of detail.
I am rusty with rping so responses may a little bit shorter than what's usual for me at first.
genres
I am a sucker for angst and drama. I love plots that start with or eventually lead up to plenty of dramatic events. adventure, horror, supernatural, etc. will always sounds great to me as well.
I enjoy sticking to canon plots or creating a completely different universe as long as we can come up with something interesting.
genres i typically don't like are historical aus unless it happens to have other interesting elements included. I always love hearing ideas though!
NSFW is typically always a no from me unless it's necessary to the plot.
fandoms
marvel
stranger things
supernatural
9-1-1
detroit: become human
maze runner
teen wolf
muses
bucky barnes, steve rogers, natasha romanoff, wanda maximoff, thor odinson, bruce banner, stephen strange and carol danvers. (marvel)
steve harrington, billy hargrove, nancy wheeler, and robin buckley. (stranger things)
dean winchester and castiel. (supernatural)
evan buckley and eddie diaz. (9-1-1)

thomas, newt, minho and gally. (maze runner)
liam dunbar, theo raeken, stiles stilinski, derek hale, scott mccall, allison argent, kira yukimura, lydia martin, and malia hale. (teen wolf)
pairings
I only feel comfortable with bxb or gxg pairings and additionally, I only rp with canon characters.
I'm open to using a pairing that includes any of my muses but, I'm also open to any other ideas.
DOs
feel free to talk to me OOC!! I love making friends <3
let me know all your ideas. don't be afraid to share anything!
DONTs
reach out to me if you're younger than 18.
roleplay with me if you want to use OCs. I only wish to rp with canon characters!
ask me to rp bxg.
message me without the secret phrase "another one bites the dust."
god-mod excessively. I'm okay with instances like "he handed over the cup of coffee and watched as she sipped it" or things of that nature. you can also ask me what I'd be okay with (and I'll do the same.)
that's all for now but if you have any further questions, please ask!! other than that, I look forward to roleplaying with you <3

Megakingom Makeovers!
I had a brief setback in the form of a single piece of CC deciding to crash the Beaker lot, but aside from that I have been plugging along nicely, setting up the Megakingdom. In this post, enjoy the rest of the Strangetown makeovers and the first few Riverblossom Hills makeovers!
Ajay Loner:
Tumblr media
I had to give somebody a serf hood, and he got the short end of the stick. It protects him from the desert sun, probably. Being a peasant in Strangetown, he'll probably be a miner.
The Grunts! General Buzz:
Tumblr media
Tank:
Tumblr media
Ripp:
Tumblr media
and Buck.
Tumblr media
They're the only Yeoman family in Strangetown, and will therefore own the local hedge tavern.
Loki Beaker: (there isn't much anybody can do about his overall... face.)
Tumblr media
Circe Beaker:
Tumblr media
and Nervous Subject:
Tumblr media
Nervous is going to move in with his mom after a round or so, when she formally acknowledges him as her heir. Loki's going to try to manipulate matters so that his sister Erin marries Nervous and becomes the next Duchess of Strangetown--they rarely have chemistry in my games, and I'm probably going to make Nervous have feelings for his dear friend Pascal, but I think under medieval rules, Loki can force the matter as long as Erin and/or Nervous don't have better legal offers, and as long as Olive doesn't object. Looking forward to playing that Drama.
Moving on to Riverblossom Hills, we start with Alexandra Teatherton (nee O'Mackey)
Tumblr media
It is technically possible for her to fulfill her dream of being a pirate (literally, not through the Adventurer career), but she will have to earn (or marry) her way up to Yeoman so she can move to Bluewater Village, then get hired on a ship owned by somebody else (nobody owns a ship yet) and work her way up to Captain. (...I may add some mutiny mechanics so she can take over an become a true pirate, but one step at a time here).
The O'Mackeys: Gabe:
Tumblr media
and Jules:
Tumblr media
No particular plans for them yet; Gabe needs a new wife to provide him with an heir, and Jules needs to start courting.
Leod McGreggor:
Tumblr media
He kept his kilt for formalwear, albeit a less modern version. And you better believe he's gonna be a peasant farmer.
The Greenmans: Jason:
Tumblr media
Daisy:
Tumblr media
and Rose:
Tumblr media
I didn't stick closely to Jason's original outfit, figuring this is a man who abandoned society to go live in the woods with his dryad wife. He should look the part a little more! I could have kept Rose in her plantsim outfit, or something close to it, but this green dress was impossible to resist. As the yeoman family of Riverblossom Hills, they may run a hedge tavern, although it's highly likely I'll have them run an orchard as well.
In case anyone's curious, I decided to delete Hat's Gestation-Based Aging in favor of 1 Day = 1 Year Aging, although I haven't decided how to handle college yet as I struggle to get my sims through 24-hour semesters. Most likely, I'll use the Semester Changes mod to make each college year be one 48-hour semester, and then play college rounds double. It's not perfect, but I can't think of any other method that would fit. (well, I could make an in-hood college as described in the MCC rules, but I don't wanna.) All this is going to mean that I need to carefully figure out all premade sims' ages and birthdates all over again, which is always both fun and tedious at the same time.
I'm several play (well, makeover and build) sessions ahead of my posts; today I finished making over all Riverblossom Hills sims, and I built the Baldwins' hedge tavern, the Clevelands' home, and the Cordials' magic shop. I also did quick exterior remodels of two BDC buildings, which was fun. I still have to give makeovers to all the Veronaville sims (including the Picasos, the Travellers, and Cy Roseland, moved to Veronaville for bloodline diversity), all premade college sims, Kaylynn Langerak, and as many townies as I can grab; and I need to build/remodel 2-3 BDC homes (one for Duke Armand DeBateau, and either one or two depending on whether I decide to keep Lord Connor Weir and Lord Geoff Rutherford living together or not), plus quick facelifts for all remaining unowned homes and community lots so they don't look stupid in the background. Then it'll just be a matter of setting up sims' ages, traits, an secondary aspirations correctly... and then I can start playing? While continuing to remodel locations in the next subhood as I go? Man, I am getting there.

So, uh, just wanted to let anyone know that once I get a mic, I'll be more than happy to voice act stuff :)
Like, voice acting, mainly of the independent variety but perhaps pro later on or smthn idk, has been a career I've wanted for so long and the fact that there's so many comics from fandoms I want to dub (looking at you Calamity mod fandom, OMORI fandom, Pokémon fandom, Sonic fandom, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure fandom, Mario fandom, Smash Bros fandom, etc.) it just makes me so happy.
Hell, maybe through this, I could become a professional voice actor. If Amber Lee Connors can go from voicing in an Abridged series (more specifically she voiced Android 18 in DragonBall Z Abridged) to voicing in stuff like FNAF as Toy Chica or Cookie Run Kingdom as Rye Cookie, then perhaps I'll be able to go pro as well.
Plus, I want to be an independent music producer, independent game designer, independent writer, or YouTuber (where I could basically do all of the careers I've mentioned at once) as well, so that'll work too with one of the careers perhaps being a side thing to the main one.

Tumblr media
I saw this bouncing around my dash and decided to fill it out myself for fun :)  I decided to not double-list any games, and I tried to mix up the companies I used too so that the list would be more unique.
Long post, so I’m doing a readmore for my longwinded part lol.
Favorite Game: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords - I could talk about this game forever.  How it tears apart the Star Wars universe from within, how it creates a compelling story while challenging the usual themes, etc.  I could talk for ages about the characters and how their motivations slot in place, and how this game lends itself to interpretation and analysis alongside roleplay.  It’s just a wonderful game, one I deeply love and will always love.  It’s a game that isn’t afraid to have you talk to other characters for twenty or thirty minutes at a time and honestly I’m always riveted at every line.  This game deserves the cult fanbase it has, but I think there’s a lot the fanbase misses in appreciating this game.  (Note...gameplay is a little janky and a community made mod restores a lot content that was cut before shipping-the game wasn’t properly finished).
Best Story:  Fallout New Vegas - It’s the setting that makes the story here, and all the moving pieces and factions alongside the main conflict really make this game stand out.  There’s so many little pieces to find along the way in the world and the way the main quest splits based on who you want in power feels important--and you are choosing a future for this whole region.
Favorite Art Style: The Witness - This game is peacefully wonderful with its visuals.  There are wonderful nature scenes and nests of wires and panels spreading in various parts of the island that are fascinating to look at.  The environment is half of the gameplay in most areas, so it’s important to look around even though exploration is not really the gameplay.  You find puzzles in the world, even in nature, and it’s fascinating.  The colors are bright and beautiful.  There is even a map in the middle of the island inside of a lake that helps you track your progress if you notice it (it isn’t like a normal ‘map’).
Favorite Soundtrack: Shin Megami Tensei IV - I love video game soundtracks, but SMTIV is something special.  The music booms in ways that make you really understand the atmosphere of the world, and there’s a great mix of different kinds of tracks for different places.  I love the tracks for the other worlds you enter, and the themes of the different routes are done so well.  Some of the music draws from past SMT games, but the remixes done for this game really are stunning to me, and there’s so many fantastic original tracks.
Hardest Game: I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream - I love this game but I literally never touch it without a walkthrough, which is why it gets to be the hardest game on the list, despite being a point and click adventure game lol.  Also just emotionally this game is challenging too, but I definitely mean this more in terms of getting a ‘perfect run’.
Funniest Game: The Stanley Parable - Trying to make this list has taught me that I don’t really play many ‘funny games’.  I don’t know if a game where multiple endings demand that you kill yourself should count as a ‘funniest game’, but it is also a game where the narrator tells you to stare at a fern and memorize its features, so....it counts.
Game I Like that is Hated: RWBY Grimm Eclipse - I’ve been playing this game since it was in early access and have loved it the whole time.  I find the gameplay soothing and fun, and I like playing the different characters.  It’s a game I play to chill out and just enjoy some fun battle mechanics.  It’s a fun game and I’ve spent over 100 hours in it, so I hope I like it, lol.
Game I Hate that is Liked:  Nier Automata - Neither this game’s gameplay or story impress me, and the fact that you have to replay basically the same stuff from a more boring-to-play-character’s pov in order to SEE all of the plot is a huge damper on the experience.  The story, to me, someone who engages with a lot of robot-focused fiction, is far from impressive or new, and it hardly engages with genre specifics at all, let alone in a new or interesting way.  I view this game as ‘a story with robots in it’ rather than ‘a story about robots’, which, to me, is a detriment.
Underrated: Nevermind - This game is amazing and very unheard of--and when it is heard of, it has been marketed incorrectly.  Nevermind seems like a horror game, and does market itself as one a bit, but it’s much more than that.  It’s more about trauma, recovery, therapy, etc.  This is a game that is so mindful about the topics it engages in that I am impressed by it every time.  It’s heavy with symbolism and character, despite lacking conversations or other similar game mechanics.  This is a lovely game that I really wish more people knew about-`p5-all of the patients are so interesting, and the focus on recovery and mental health is impressive.
Overrated:  Fire Emblem - I sort of mean this as the series as a whole really.  I have enjoyed the entries I have played somewhat, but I overall consider the series much less impressive than I was led to believe by others.  The gameplay especially is not impressive to me in any regard, even though I sometimes do find myself enjoying it.  The stories are alright, but many of them are weighed down by the gameplay and as a writer and person who likes to analyze writing, it’s very hard to do so when it isn’t able to fully exist under the chains the gameplay forces on it.  There are ways to mix gameplay and story well, Fire Emblem has not really done that in any of the entries I’ve played.  That being said, I don’t regret playing them, and I will occasionally replay, but I consider them mediocre games at best.
Best Voice Acting: Devil Survivor 2 - I love the voice acting in this game.  I feel like all the characters are really suited to their voices, and it’s really easy for me to visualize their voices.  They really bring the game to life and make both the dramatic and the funny scenes more enjoyable.
Worst Voice Acting: Jedi Knight Jedi Academy - I love this game, I really do, but some of the voice acting is janky.  Some of it is okay too--I think Kyle Katarn’s voice actor does fine, and some of the others I like NOW but hated when I was a kid, but the male protagonist voice in this game is just awful.  Which is bad when Jennifer Hale is the female voice actress lol.  His performance is passable though unless you’re playing darksided--the darksided ending to the game lacks all punch when you’re playing the male protagonist.
Favorite Male:  Battler Ushiromiya from Umineko no Naku Koro Ni - He’s the protagonist for most of the visual novels and I adore him utterly, especially once you move past episode 2.  He’s a wonderful character who I care about deeply.  I love his drive and how he fights--he’s someone who is easy to cheer for.  He matures well throughout the series and his character development is just wonderful.
Favorite Female:  Naoto Shirogane from Persona 4 - I really like how Naoto fits so well in the game, especially for being a final recruit--oftentimes the final recruit of Persona games (post 3) have a bit of a more difficult time feeling right with the group.  Naoto works really well though, and I love her struggles and story as well.  I think the difficulties she has concerning living as a woman in her field hit very deep to a problem that has existed for a very long time.
Favorite Protagonist: Connor of Daventry from King’s Quest 8 Mask of Eternity - I’m like, one of four fans of this character in the world, lol.  KQ8 is not a very well liked game and it does have a lot of issues, both with age and with how much of a departure it is from the series prior to it.  It’s strange to take a puzzle adventure game and make it a hybrid with what basically is a shooter, and it doesn’t really work.  Add to that the fact that you spend most of your time in the game without anyone around to talk to and it leads to this really polarizing and weird experience.  For me, Conner goes through what I would consider to be the ‘Ultimate Nightmare Scenario”.  Everyone in the world is turned to stone except him (and he survived out of mere chance) and so now it’s up to him, practically alone, to save the entire world.  There is no game lonelier than this.  I adore him for his bravery in the face of it, and how he just picks up to do what must be done because someone should do it, and if no one else can, then he will.  I also really love how he apologizes to people who are encased in stone while he takes money from their houses to help him on his journey.  I really do think he went back after the game was over and gave everyone heaps of gold to pay them back with interest lol.
Favorite Village:  Oakvale from Fable - The first Fable is the only one I really like, and it was one of the games I played when I was little, so the hometown in the game always meant a lot to me.  I like how you grow up there and how your tragic backstory is there--and then how you get to return to the town years later after you’ve come into your own, and you can see it completely rebuilt.  I like to spend a lot of my time in this town, just wandering around it and playing the minigames.  Even though I have a house in every town, Oakvale is where my hero calls home.
Most Hated Character:  Merril from Dragon Age 2 - I don’t really want to lay into how I feel about Merril, but what I will say is that it was suggested to me that I totally ignore her when playing, and I did so.  I only met her for her quest, dropped her off in town, and literally never spoke to her or interacted for the rest of the game.  I had a much better experience for it, honestly.  She appeared after I made my choice in the end of the game, which felt weird since I hadn’t spoken to her in several ingame years, but other than that, the game was totally fine without her.  I sort of just wish you could kill characters in DA2 the way you can in DAO, then I’d just do that, tbh.  It doesn’t suit very many (or any) of the characters I rp in DA2 to keep her around or support her in any way.
First Game I Played: Mixed up Mother Goose Deluxe - I’m not actually sure if this is the FIRST game I’ve ever played or not, but it’s one of the first I played alone as a kid.  I really loved it--this is probably what created my love for point and click adventures, and the game was very silly and fun.
Favorite Company: Bioware - I’ve always been a sucker for Bioware games, ever since Knights of the Old Republic 1 was my favorite childhood game.  I love how they do stories and party members, and while I’m not a fan of all of their games, I really love what they’ve made and their style of storytelling and character driven plot.  Even though sometimes their stories get cliche, I think the suit video games well and most of my early gaming was within their games.
Hated Company: EA - Bioware truly only started to go to shit after the EA acquisition, so I fucking hate EA.   I know Bioware had issues before EA too, but I definitely don’t think EA has helped the situation whatsoever.
Depressing Game: The Beginner’s Guide - I relate to this game as a creator and a writer, and it affects me deeply because of the story it tells and the questions it raises.  It makes me reflect on how I think of myself as a creator, and it reminds me of friendships I used to have.
Creepy Game:  The Path - God, I love this game.  It’s just aimlessly wandering around and finding symbolic scenery and watching your current character comment on it.  Then, you go off to find your girl’s wolf, and each one is different and unique to her, and you watch it ‘kill’ her--and facing her wolf is the only way each girl can truly mature.  Whenever you get to grandmother’s house, the camera switches to first person, and your eyes keep closing, so you can only see while clicking to move.  It forces you to keep moving so that you can see, but since you are moving, you only get to see things somewhat vaguely.  It’s got a great atmosphere, and I love the symbolic storytelling.
Happy Game: Eastshade - This game is so sweet.  There’s some drama around to with many of the quests, but I like this as an rpg without combat, and I think this would be a really good kids game.  There’s a lot to see and explore, and the game was made to be really pretty so that you want to paint several aspects of it.  It’s really lovely to just wander around in this game and bike around the area, painting anything that suits your fancy.  As long as you don’t finish the main quest, you’re free to wander, and materials do respawn, so you essentially can infinitely paint once you get far enough.
Favorite Ending: Virtue’s Last Reward - I love the questions this game asks and where the ending goes.  It thematically ties together--the whole reason the game itself exists is to get the attention of a ‘higher being’--the player, essentially.  I love how it plays with that concept, and even though the final game in the series doesn’t entirely pick this idea up where this game left it, standalone this game is stunning in how it comes together.

CHOICES ASKs
4, 6, 8, 24, 29, 30
4. What book do you think is underrated?
The Heist: Monaco and Hero. Amazing adventure plots, great characters, so many fantastic group scenes, interesting villains, wonderful LIs... I honestly have no idea why these books aren't more popular. (Actually, I do. But let's pretend I don't)
6. Is there a book you thought you’d hate but like after playing it?
Ride or Die. I genuinely thought the story wasn't good. But I realized I was wrong in the very first chapter lol
8. What book would you most like a sequel to and why?
Hero. I honestly just want closure from the cliffhanger 🙁 💔
24. Which characters do you wish they could be love interests?
Han (AME), Everett (TE), Harper Emery (OpH), Robin Flores (TNA). Pretty sure I would've enjoyed most of these books if writers given these characters a chance to be more than disposable side characters to PB.
29. Have you ever abandoned a ship? Why?
Adrian x MC: he's not the most interesting LI of the book, but he's not all bad. However, the whole talk about dead lovers right after sex? No, dude. Just no.
Drake x Olivia: For smut, I think they're okay. But I don't see how a relationship between them would last more than a month without becoming something toxic.
Leo x Madeleine: Most of the time in RoE, Leo doesn't care about her. In TRR/TRH, they barely speak to each other. So there's no real connection between them. I know ships don't have to exist in canon, but I still think they're not the right fit for each other. Leo just isn't meant to be a royal, while Madeleine breathes nobility. They clearly have different life styles and goals. If they tried, Leo would end up seeing the relationship as a prison and run away again.
30. Do you like any problematic ships? If so, which ones?
I think it's just Connor Green x MC, not because of the age difference, but because MC is underage and he's an adult when the player can romance him. I still chose him though. (I have a soft spot for the sweet ones)
A very honorable mention to Ian x MC. Though I think Ian is a Ll with a good characterization (and Asian Ian is a snack!), the whole professor-teacher thing made so uncomfortable I stopped playing Queen B on chapter 6.
Thanks for asking 😊
-cfwcadm
_____
4. What book do you think is underrated? Nightbound, Across the void (yeah the book took a long time to get on its track but at the time the fandom had already given up on it =‘(, and it deserved better), THM, Hero.
6. Is there a book you thought you’d hate but like after playing it? Queen B, I refused to play it for a loooong time because I hated the plot about romacing the professor ( I still do, though), but it was fun choose being good or evil as MC.
8. What book would you most like a sequel to and why? HERO, all the unanswered questions... 😭😞
24. Which characters do you wish they could be love interests? Han, Teagan, Bianca and Slater (AME, and for Bianca and Slater I wanted them as LI since the beginning), Horatio (LH), Dan (ILITW)...
29. Have you ever abandoned a ship? Why? Mal x F!H!MC from Bolas, I liked Mal when I started playing the book, his irreverent way... but along the way I really fell for Tyril ❤.
30. Do you like any problematic ships? If so, which ones? Connor (same as Lori), and Ian Kingsley x MC from Queen B, even though his character is lovely (I’ll admit I liked him as I didn’t like a LI in choices in a long time), but he’s the professor, no more explanation needed here, it’s problematic for itself. I really don’t know what the problem is with PB and all these bosses/professor romances now 🙄😡🤢.

Best PlayStation Games
We’re not going anywhere for some time so we may as well find a good way to spend time!
Whether you’re a regular gamer, casual or have no experince in gaming in general, here are some awesome games you may check out! I tried to limit the list to just twenty games. There are of course many more awesome games out there, including some personal favourites of mine, but I tried to make the list as objective and as representatitve as possible.
20. Kingdom Hearts (2002) - PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4
Tumblr media
Kingdom Hearts is a 2002 action role-playing video game developed and published by Square for the PlayStation 2 video game console. It is the first game in the Kingdom Hearts series and is the result of a collaboration between Square and The Walt Disney Company. An expanded re-release of the game featuring new and additional content, Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, was released exclusively in Japan in December 2002. The Final Mix version of the game was later remastered in high definition and released globally as a part of the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix collection for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
The game combines characters and settings from Disney animated features with those from Square's Final Fantasy series, in addition to original characters and worlds created for the game. It follows the adventures of Sora, a cheerful teenager who fights against the forces of darkness alongside Donald Duck, Goofy and other Disney characters. The game was a departure from Square's standard role-playing games, introducing a substantial action and hack and slash element to the gameplay. Kingdom Hearts has an all-star voice cast and includes many of the Disney characters's official voice actors. It was longtime Square character designer Tetsuya Nomura's first time in a directorial position.
Kingdom Hearts was praised for its unusual combination of action and role-playing, its unexpectedly harmonious mix of Square and Disney elements, and Shimomura's music. It was a large presence in the 2002 holiday season, receiving numerous year-end game awards, and went on to achieve Sony "Greatest Hits" status. The game prompted numerous sequels, and the Kingdom Hearts series has gone on to ship over 30 million copies worldwide. Kingdom Hearts is the tenth best-selling PlayStation 2 game of all time, and is considered by some gaming publications to be one of the greatest video games of all time.
19. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011) - PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4
Tumblr media
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player's character, the Dragonborn, on their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The game is set 200 years after the events of Oblivion and takes place in Skyrim, the northernmost province of Tamriel. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open-world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.
Skyrim was developed using the Creation Engine, rebuilt specifically for the game. The team opted for a unique and more diverse open world than Oblivion's Imperial Province of Cyrodiil, which game director and executive producer Todd Howard considered less interesting by comparison. The game was released to critical acclaim, with reviewers particularly mentioning the character advancement and setting, and is considered to be one of the greatest video games of all time. Nonetheless it received some criticism, predominantly for its melee combat and numerous technical issues present at launch. The game shipped over seven million copies to retailers within the first week of its release, and over 30 million copies on all platforms as of November 2016, making it one of the best selling video games in history.
Three downloadable content (DLC) add-ons were released—Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and Dragonborn—which were repackaged into The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Legendary Edition and released in June 2013. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim – Special Edition is a remastered version of the game released for Windows, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 in October 2016. It includes all three DLC expansions and a graphical upgrade, along with additional features such as modding capabilities on consoles. Versions were released in November 2017 for the Nintendo Switch and PlayStation VR, and a stand-alone virtual reality (VR) version for Windows was released in April 2018. These versions were based on the remastered release, but the Switch version's graphics upgrade was relative to its hardware capabilities, and it did not include the modding features.
18. Assassin’s Creed III (2012) - PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4
Tumblr media
Assassin's Creed III is a 2012 action-adventure video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and Microsoft Windows. It is the fifth major installment in the Assassin's Creed series, and a direct sequel to 2011's Assassin's Creed: Revelations. The game was released worldwide for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, beginning in North America on October 30, 2012, with a Wii U and Microsoft Windows release in November 2012.
The plot is set in a fictional history of real-world events and follows the centuries-old struggle between the Assassins, who fight for peace with free will, and the Templars, who desire peace through control. The framing story is set in the 21st century and features series protagonist Desmond Miles who, with the aid of a machine known as the Animus, relives the memories of his ancestors to find a way to avert the 2012 apocalypse. The story is set in the 18th century, before, during and after the American Revolution from 1754 to 1783, and follows Desmond's half-English, half-Mohawk ancestor, Ratonhnhaké:ton, also known as Connor, as he fights the Templars' attempts to gain control in the colonies.
Assassin's Creed III is set in an open world and presented from the third-person perspective with a primary focus on using Desmond and Connor's combat and stealth abilities to eliminate targets and explore the environment. Connor is able to freely explore 18th-century Boston, New York City, and the American frontier to complete side missions away from the primary storyline. The game also features a multiplayer component, allowing players to compete online to complete solo and team-based objectives including assassinations and evading pursuers. Ubisoft developed a new game engine, Anvil Next, for the game.
The game received positive reviews from critics, who praised it for its gameplay, narrative, diverse cast of characters, visuals and grand, ambitious scale, while criticism was directed at the ending, unevenly developed gameplay mechanics and the glitches within the game. It was a commercial success, selling more than 12 million copies worldwide. Its sequel, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, was released in October 2013, and follows Ratonhnhaké:ton's grandfather – Edward Kenway – a pirate and Assassin operating in the Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy.

Tumblr media

It was the first game in the series to offer a career mode featuring a storyline, and a garage mode that allowed players to fully customize their cars with a large variety of brand-name performance and visual upgrades. All races take place in a generic city at night called Olympic City, though the city bears some resemblance to New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Rather than exotic cars, Underground featured vehicles associated with the import scene. Underground was commercially successful, and was followed by Need for Speed: Underground 2 in 2004.

Much of the praise went to the game's graphics, control and music, with major criticisms varying between the trial-and-error gameplay, lack of level variety, easy boss levels and lack of innovation. A remastered version was included in the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy collection, released on the PlayStation 4 in June 2017, and ported to other platforms in June 2018.

The game was released worldwide in November 2015 and received mixed reviews from critics, who praised its gameplay, visuals, musical scores and high production values, but criticized its lack of content in both single and multiplayer modes. More than 14 million copies have been shipped. A sequel, Star Wars Battlefront II, was released on November 17, 2017.
11. Fallout 4 (2015) - PlayStation 4

The main story takes place in the year 2287, ten years after the events of Fallout 3 and 210 years after "The Great War", which caused catastrophic nuclear devastation across the United States.
The player assumes control of a character referred to as the "Sole Survivor", who emerges from a long-term cryogenic stasis in Vault 111, an underground nuclear fallout shelter. After witnessing the murder of their spouse and kidnapping of their son, the Sole Survivor ventures out into the Commonwealth to search for their missing child. The player explores the game's dilapidated world, completes various quests, helps out factions, and acquires experience points to level up and increase the abilities of their character. New features to the series include the ability to develop and manage settlements and an extensive crafting system where materials scavenged from the environment can be used to craft drugs and explosives, upgrade weapons and armor, and construct, furnish and improve settlements. Fallout 4 also marks the first game in the series to feature full voice acting for the protagonist.
Fallout 4 received positive reviews from critics with many praising the world depth, player freedom, overall amount of content, crafting, and soundtrack, while criticism was mainly directed at the game's visuals and technical issues. Bethesda has released six downloadable content add-ons, including the expansions Far Harbor and Nuka-World.
10. Marvel’s Spider-Man (2018) - PlayStation 4
Tumblr media
Marvel's Spider-Man is a 2018 action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Based on the Marvel Comics superhero Spider-Man, it is inspired by the long-running comic book mythology and adaptations in other media. In the main storyline, the super-human crime lord Mister Negative orchestrates a plot to seize control of New York City's criminal underworld. When Mister Negative threatens to release a deadly virus, Spider-Man must confront him and protect the city while dealing with the personal problems of his civilian persona, Peter Parker.
Gameplay is presented from the third-person perspective with a primary focus on Spider-Man's traversal and combat abilities. Spider-Man can freely move around New York City, interacting with characters, undertaking missions, and unlocking new gadgets and suits by progressing through the main story or completing tasks. Outside the story, the player is able to complete side missions to unlock additional content and collectible items. Combat focuses on chaining attacks together and using the environment and webs to incapacitate numerous foes while avoiding damage.
Development of Spider-Man, the first licensed game by Insomniac in its then-22-year history, began in 2014 and took approximately four years. Insomniac was given the choice of using any character from Marvel's catalog to work on; Spider-Man was chosen both for his appeal to the employees and the similarities in traversal gameplay to their previous game Sunset Overdrive (2014). The game design took inspiration from the history of Spider-Man across all media but Marvel Comics and Insomniac wanted to tell an original story that was not linked to an existing property, creating a unique universe (known as Earth-1048) that has since appeared in novels, merchandise, and comics.
Spider-Man was released for the PlayStation 4 on September 7, 2018. The game received praise for its narrative, characterization, combat, and web-swinging traversal mechanics, although some criticized its open-world design for lacking innovation. A number of reviewers called it one of the best superhero games ever made, some comparing it favorably to the Batman: Arkham series. It won several year-end accolades from a variety of gaming publications, critics, and game award ceremonies. Spider-Man became one of the fastest-selling games of the year, one of the best-selling PlayStation 4 games of all time, and the fastest-selling superhero game in the United States. Spider-Man was followed by a story-based, three-part downloadable content, Spider-Man: The City that Never Sleeps, which was released monthly from October to December 2018. A Game of the Year edition was released in August 2019.
09. Final Fantasy VII (1997) - PlayStation, PlayStation 4
Tumblr media
Final Fantasy VII is a 1997 role-playing video game developed by Square for the PlayStation console. It is the seventh main installment in the Final Fantasy series. Published in Japan by Square, it was released in other regions by Sony Computer Entertainment and became the first in the main series to see a PAL release. The game's story follows Cloud Strife, a mercenary who joins an eco-terrorist organization to stop a world-controlling megacorporation from using the planet's life essence as an energy source. Events send Cloud and his allies in pursuit of Sephiroth, a superhuman who seeks to wound the planet and harness its healing power in order to be reborn as a demigod. During the journey, Cloud builds close friendships with his party members, including Aerith Gainsborough, who holds the secret to saving their world.
Development began in 1994, originally for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. After delays and technical difficulties from experimenting on several platforms, Square moved production to the PlayStation, largely due to the advantages of the CD-ROM format. Veteran Final Fantasy staff returned, including series creator and producer Hironobu Sakaguchi, director Yoshinori Kitase, and composer Nobuo Uematsu. The title became the first in the series to use full motion video and 3D computer graphics, which featured 3D character models superimposed over 2D pre-rendered backgrounds. Although the gameplay systems remained mostly unchanged from previous entries, Final Fantasy VII introduced more widespread science fiction elements and a more realistic presentation. The game had a staff of over 100, with a combined development and marketing budget of around US$80 million.
Assisted by a large promotional campaign, Final Fantasy VII received widespread commercial and critical success and remains widely regarded as a landmark title and one of the greatest video games of all time. The title won numerous Game of the Year awards and was acknowledged for boosting the sales of the PlayStation and popularizing Japanese role-playing games worldwide. Critics praised its graphics, gameplay, music, and story, although some criticism was directed towards its original English localization. Its success has led to enhanced ports on various platforms, a multimedia subseries called the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII, and an upcoming high-definition remake for the PlayStation 4.
07. Uncharted 4: AThief’s End (2016) - PlayStation 4
Tumblr media

Set three years after the events of Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, players control Nathan Drake, a former treasure hunter coaxed out of retirement by his estranged brother Samuel. With Nathan's longtime partner, Sullivan, they search for clues for the location of Henry Avery's long-lost treasure. A Thief's End is played from a third-person perspective, and incorporates platformer elements. Players solve puzzles and use firearms, melee combat, and stealth to combat enemies. In the online multiplayer mode, up to ten players engage in co-operative and competitive modes.
Development of Uncharted 4 began in 2011, soon after the release of Uncharted 3. It was led by creative director Amy Hennig and game director Justin Richmond. The team sought to incorporate elements of open-world gameplay, with larger levels to encourage free-roaming exploration and combat. The relationship between Nathan and Elena was central, and Naughty Dog attempted to humanize them more than in previous games. A Thief's End was released in May 2016 for the PlayStation 4. It was Naughty Dog's first game developed specifically for the PlayStation 4. The team took advantage of the advanced hardware to process larger dynamic environments.
Following its announcement in November 2013, A Thief's End was widely anticipated. The game was acclaimed by reviewers, particularly for its gameplay, narrative, emotional depth, visuals, and multiplayer. Several reviewers found the game a worthy conclusion to Nathan's story. It won several year-end accolades, including Game of the Year awards from several gaming publications, critics, and game award ceremonies. With over 15 million copies sold, it is the highest-selling Uncharted game and one of the best-selling PlayStation 4 games. A standalone expansion, The Lost Legacy, was released in 2017.

06. Minecraft (2011) - PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita
Tumblr media
Minecraft is a sandbox video game developed by Mojang. Minecraft was created by Markus "Notch" Persson in the Java programming language and was released as a public alpha for personal computers in 2009 before officially releasing in November 2011, with Jens Bergensten taking over development around then. It has since been ported to various platforms and is the bestselling video game of all time, with over 180 million copies sold across all platforms and over 112 million monthly active players by 2019.
In Minecraft, players explore a blocky, procedurally-generated 3D world, and may discover and extract raw materials, craft tools, build structures or earthworks, and depending on game mode, can fight computer-controlled "mobs", as well as either cooperate with or compete against other players in the same world. These modes include a survival mode, in which players must acquire resources to build the world and maintain health, and a creative mode, where players have unlimited resources. Players can modify the game to create new gameplay mechanics, items, and assets.
Minecraft has been critically acclaimed, winning several awards and being cited of the most influential and greatest video games of all time. Social media, parodies, adaptations, merchandise, and the annual MineCon conventions played large roles in popularizing the game. It has also been used in educational environments, especially in the realm of computing systems, as virtual computers and hardware devices have been built in it. In 2014, Mojang and the Minecraft intellectual property were purchased by Microsoft for US$2.5 billion. A number of spin-off games have also been produced, such as Minecraft: Story Mode, Minecraft Dungeons, and Minecraft Earth.
05. The Last of Us (2013) - PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4
Tumblr media
The Last of Us is a 2013 action-adventure game developed by Naughty Dog and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. Players control Joel, a smuggler tasked with escorting a teenage girl, Ellie, across a post-apocalyptic United States. The Last of Us is played from a third-person perspective. Players use firearms and improvised weapons, and can use stealth to defend against hostile humans and cannibalistic creatures infected by a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus. In the online multiplayer mode, up to eight players engage in cooperative and competitive gameplay.
Development of The Last of Us began in 2009, soon after the release of Naughty Dog's previous game, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. For the first time in the company's history, Naughty Dog split into two teams; while one team developed Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, the other half developed The Last of Us. The relationship between Joel and Ellie became the focus, with all other elements developed around it. Actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson portrayed Joel and Ellie respectively through voice and motion capture, and assisted creative director Neil Druckmann with the development of the characters and story. The original score was composed and performed by Gustavo Santaolalla.

The game won year-end accolades, including multiple Game of the Year awards from several gaming publications, critics, and game award ceremonies, and is considered one of the greatest video games ever made.
After the game's release, Naughty Dog released several downloadable content additions. The Last of Us: Left Behind adds a single-player campaign following Ellie and her best friend Riley. A sequel, The Last of Us Part II, was announced in December 2016.
04. Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018) - PlayStation 4
Tumblr media
Red Dead Redemption 2 is a 2018 action-adventure game developed and published by Rockstar Games. The game is the third entry in the Red Dead series and is a prequel to the 2010 game Red Dead Redemption. The story is set in 1899 in a fictionalized representation of the Western, Midwestern and Southern United States and follows outlaw Arthur Morgan, a member of the Van der Linde gang. Arthur must deal with the decline of the Wild West whilst attempting to survive against government forces, rival gangs, and other adversaries. The story also follows fellow gang member John Marston, the protagonist of Red Dead Redemption.
The game is presented through both first and third-person perspectives, and the player may freely roam in its interactive open world. Gameplay elements include shootouts, heists, hunting, horseback riding, interacting with non-player characters (NPCs), and maintaining the character's honor rating through moral choices and deeds. A bounty system similar to the "wanted" system from the Grand Theft Auto franchise governs the response of law enforcement and bounty hunters to crimes committed by the player. Red Dead Redemption 2 was released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018, and for Microsoft Windows and Stadia in November 2019. Red Dead Online, the online multiplayer mode of the game, was released as a beta version in November 2018 before a full release in May 2019.
The game's development began soon after Red Dead Redemption's release and was shared between all of Rockstar's studios worldwide. The development team drew influence from real locations as opposed to film or art, focused on creating an accurate reflection of the time with the game's characters and world. The game was Rockstar's first built specifically for eighth generation consoles, having tested their technical capabilities while porting Grand Theft Auto V to the platforms. The game's soundtrack features an original score composed by Woody Jackson and several vocal tracks produced by Daniel Lanois.
Broadly anticipated and marketed before release, Red Dead Redemption 2 broke several records and had the second-biggest launch in the history of entertainment, generating $725 million in sales from its opening weekend and exceeding the lifetime sales of Red Dead Redemption in two weeks. It received widespread critical acclaim, with praise directed at its story, characters, open world, graphics, and considerable level of detail. Minor criticism was given to the game's control scheme and mission structure. Considered as an example of video games as an art form, it won year-end accolades including Game of the Year awards from several gaming publications. It is among the best-selling video games of all time with over 29 million copies shipped.

02. Call of Duty: Black Ops III (2015) - PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3
Tumblr media
Call of Duty: Black Ops III is a 2015 first-person shooter video game, developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. It is the twelfth entry in the Call of Duty series and the sequel to the 2012 video game Call of Duty: Black Ops II. It was released on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 6, 2015. A feature-limited version developed by Beenox and Mercenary Technology that only supports multiplayer modes was released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and was also the final Call of Duty title released on those platforms.
Black Ops III takes place in 2065, 40 years after the events of Black Ops II, in a world facing upheaval from climate change and new technologies. Similar to its predecessors, the story follows a group of black ops soldiers. The game's campaign is designed to support 4-player cooperative gameplay, allowing for bigger, more open level design and less corridor shooting. As the player character is cybernetically enhanced, players have access to various special activities. The game also features a standalone Zombies mode, and a "Nightmares" mode which replaces all enemies as zombies.
Announced on April 26, 2015, the game is the first Call of Duty video game released after Activision parted with Microsoft Studios and partnered with Sony Computer Entertainment, which secured the timed exclusivity of the game's downloadable content. Upon release, the game received generally positive reviews from critics, albeit slightly lower than the previous two games in the sub-series, with critics praising the gameplay, Zombies mode, and amount of content. However, it was criticized for its story, absence of fan favorite story mode characters, and lack of innovation. The seventh-generation console versions in particular were criticized for the lack of a campaign and numerous features, as well as it being online-only. It was a commercial success, with it becoming the top-selling retail game in the US in 2015, and one of the most successful titles released for the eighth generation of video game consoles. A sequel, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, was released in October 2018.
01. Grand Theft Auto V (2013) - PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4
Tumblr media
Grand Theft Auto V is a 2013 action-adventure game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It is the first main entry in the Grand Theft Auto series since 2008's Grand Theft Auto IV. Set within the fictional state of San Andreas, based on Southern California, the single-player story follows three criminals and their efforts to commit heists while under pressure from a government agency and powerful crime figures. The open world design lets players freely roam San Andreas' open countryside and the fictional city of Los Santos, based on Los Angeles.
The game is played from either a third-person or first-person perspective, and its world is navigated on foot or by vehicle. Players control the three lead protagonists throughout single-player and switch among them, both during and outside missions. The story is centred on the heist sequences, and many missions involve shooting and driving gameplay. A "wanted" system governs the aggression of law enforcement response to players who commit crimes. Grand Theft Auto Online, the game's online multiplayer mode, lets up to 30 players engage in a variety of different cooperative and competitive game modes.
The game's development began soon after Grand Theft Auto IV's release and was shared between many of Rockstar's studios worldwide. The development team drew influence from many of their previous projects such as Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3 and designed the game around three lead protagonists to innovate on the core structure of its predecessors. Much of the development work constituted the open world's creation, and several team members conducted field research around California to capture footage for the design team. The game's soundtrack features an original score composed by a team of producers who collaborated over several years. It was released in September 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, in November 2014 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and in April 2015 for Microsoft Windows.
Extensively marketed and widely anticipated, the game broke industry sales records and became the fastest-selling entertainment product in history, earning $800 million in its first day and $1 billion in its first three days. It received widespread critical acclaim, with praise directed at its multiple protagonist design, open world, presentation and gameplay. However, it caused controversies related to its depiction of violence and women. Considered one of seventh and eighth generation console gaming's most significant titles and among the best video games ever made, it won year-end accolades including Game of the Year awards from several gaming publications. It is the third best-selling video game of all time with over 120 million copies shipped and one of the most financially successful entertainment products of all time, with about $6 billion in worldwide revenue.

Video
so i finally got around to editing connor’s conversation tree in inquisition because i love him and wanted to see more of his dialogue, and also i changed a couple of approval shifts around (not shown: varric was supposed to Highly Approve here but it didn’t show up, still trying to fix that). i won’t be uploading this anywhere, largely because i doubt anyone cares lmao, but i’m working on a couple others i haven’t been able to test yet and i might end up slipping a cleaner version of this into that
also his face looks like that because i made a custom complexion for my inquisitor and he uses that particular texture, so he also gets the freckles and the i-haven’t-slept-in-a-decade look, which honestly fits better than i could have hoped
but my boy 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺

DBH MODDING (6) - TOOL PROBLEM SOLVING
Hello everyone and
Dear Diary
Here is another mod diary entry because I don't know how to stop myself. It's 29/01/2023 and I took a little break from modding since my brain was about to snap in half like a crab leg. In case you missed it, here is my last entry. To see all my entries, go here.
I was working a lot on my DBH fan comic (Zeno) and I ran into a few modding problems along the way, which resulted in me putting off my learning progress. (It also delayed the release of the next part of Zeno, but I digress.)
In the latest block for Zeno, I have introduced Connor's new look as seen below. (These are some bonus shots, so enjoy hehe, please don't save and post this elsewhere, it's a treat just for you:)
Tumblr media
If you would like to edit your own designs for Connor, you can get up to all sorts of things. Keep reading to see my first tie edit. :)
I started with editing Connor's tie, and this was my first test:
Tumblr media
I gave him stars... Because he's a star. <3 I won't go into how to edit Connor's suit, because it's actually all the same stuff as what I talked about in my last entry.
Here's how to make shapes on GIMP.
The following text-based information was provided by Jamie in order to help me out of the crashing pit I threw myself into. Thank you SO much.
I was having trouble with my Tool that kept bugging out and crashing. I LEARNED THAT I HAD TO GO INTO THE GAME FILES AND DELETE THE .MODS FILE EVERY TIME. I can't believe this LMAOOO
However, if you run into any problems like your game crashing when you try to load it up (that isn't helped by deleting the .mods file), it's most likely because you have extracted a QD file, made it into a DDS, imported it, but not edited any other QD files that it's attached to.
Tumblr media
There's a byte in every container for each texture entry that tells the game whether or not it's going to be QD format or DDS. Aaron's Detroit Tool always adds textures in DDS format and gets around that by changing the byte in the container to tell the game to read it as DDS instead of QD. Therefore, the container is successfully loaded because that specific byte in the container has been updated. However, if you go to load another container that tries to access that texture, that byte is unmodified, so it goes to read the (now DDS) texture file as if it were still a QD file and that results in a crash.
If you mod any QD texture in a container, you must also mod those textures in other containers that share that same texture. Attempting to load a container that shares the same texture that hasn't been modified will crash the game.
After my time in the modding community, I've learned a few of the big names and leading modders, so here is a list of who I have found.
LeonX - Basically the Kamski of the modding community who got everyone started - YouTube
Otis_Inf - The free cam legend - Twitter - Patreon
Speclizer - The first map swaps - YouTube
dragonbane0 - The King himself, basically Markus - YouTube - Twitter
aaron1a12 - He made the texture Tool - Twitter
vrtuellereality - Basically rA9 because everyone's seen her work but where the hell is she? - At least used to have Twitter and Instagram? Very popular accreditation on Pinterest/Instagram
Reicito - As seen in the model swapper credits
Kayla1507 (@kayla1507) - Tumblr - YouTube
Jamie (jamsied, @jamdbh) - My biggest help - Tumblr - YouTube - Twitter
Ami (@connorinabeanie) - Tumblr
I hope your modding adventures are going well! Next on my agenda is SWAT Connor, which you all know I'm absolutely feral to do.

Name: Magdela Ainsley. Usually known as Mags.
Gender/Pronouns: Cis woman, she/her.
Class/Specialisation/Skills: Dual-wielding rogue. Technically a ranger but in actuality she just owns a pet bear. Mags’ main Thing is being good at trap-making.
Race: Human
Nationality/Hometown: Fereldan, from a farm in the northwest of the Hinterlands.
Age/Birthday: Born August 9:06 Dragon, and 23 during Origins
Religion: Grew up Andrastian, without really thinking about it. Still Andrastian, but more aware of other religions now and trying to learn more about the Creators so she can teach her daughter about them.
Sexuality: Bisexual.
Love Interests: Zevran. They get together half way through Origins after an awkward conversation about thinking they’re not good enough for each other, and are married just after Awakening. She’s also had a Celebrity Crush on Anora since she was a teenager, and gets very awkward when she actually meets her.
Family: The family from Kajana’s Human Commoner Origin mod. Parents Torrence and Nansie, older sister Mairi and younger brother Bhradan. Mags is very close to her siblings, who’ve spent a lot of time reassuring her through insecurities and anxiety attacks. During Awakening, Mags and Zevran’s daughter Issella is born.
Friends:  Mags is friends with all of her companions in both Origins and Awakening, except for Sten, whose opinion of her is that she is, impressively, not quite as useless as he first imagined. Other than Zevran and her sister Mairi, Mags’ closest friends are Alistair, Leliana and Oghren.
Enemies: Mags doesn’t really have any personal enemies in Origins (she dislikes Loghain, but he’s more Alistair’s enemy), mostly because she’s worried that maybe she’s wrong about everything, and everyone else is right?? In Awakening, she quickly makes a lot of enemies because a lot of people want to kill or kidnap her daughter. With all the individuals who wanted to hurt Issella either dead or having apologised, Mags’ enemies are now just the Chantry, the Wardens and the Crows as a whole.
Pets: Her bear Moira, and the mabari, who Mags named Calenhad. She’s incredibly proud to have a mabari imprint on her.
Backstory (Out of Universe): I created Mags because I needed to see a hero was like me - someone who’d be pushed into an adventure and then immediately have an anxiety attack. Someone who, sure, might develop a little bit more confidence over the course of their story, but would remain anxious and fairly dependent and very much Not a leader, but who was allowed to be a hero anyway.
Backstory (In Universe): Mags had a fairly mundane life before the Blight, working on her family’s farm and regularly visiting friends in the local village. The most interesting thing that happened was when one of her traps killed a black bear. Mags discovered the bear had a cub, and adopted her due to guilt over killing her mother.
Biography/Game Decisions: Mags generally tried to help people, but also deferred to other people whenever she could. She dealt with Connor by going to the Circle, at Alistair’s suggestion, where she at first agreed to help Greagoir clean the tower of demons, since he said there was no way anyone could have survived. After meeting Wynne and discovering this wasn’t true, she tried to save as many mages as she could.
When Sten attacked at Haven, Mags didn’t fight back and told him he was welcome to take control if he wanted. Sten declared the party were going to Orzammar, to find the Archdemon in the Deep Roads, but other than Shale, the party refused to follow because they wanted to find the Ashes, liked Mags more than Sten, or just thought the whole idea was silly. Sten and Shale left the party to travel to Orzammar, where they were refused entrance because the king was dead and they didn’t have any Grey Warden treaties.
Shale helped find Sten’s sword while Mags found the Ashes, killing the cultists because destroying the Ashes would be blasphemy. They reunited outside Orzammar, were Shale and Sten rejoined the party. Mags tried to stay neutral to Orzammar’s political issues, but as it became clear that she needed to help choose a king, she sided with Harrowmont, since at least he didn’t want her to do something illegal, and Alistair agreed that he seemed nicer. She sided with Caridin over Branka, because seriously Branka, what the fuck. In the Brecilian Forest, she cured the werewolfs and brokered peace between them and the Dalish, on the advice of her party.
Mags never hardened Alistair, and they were both very happy to let Anora be queen. While Mags wouldn’t have objected to making Loghain a Warden, and wanted him to live for Anora’s sake, she left the decision to Alistair, who killed him.
Mags didn’t want to pressure Alistair to do Morrigan’s ritual, but was also unwilling to let him die fighting the Archdemon, and was able to throw grease traps at his feet if it looked like he was about to make the final blow. Which, since I didn’t want the story to end with Mags’ death, meant that soon after her miraculous survival killing the Archdemon, she discovered she was pregnant.
Between Origins and Awakening, she went back to her parents’ farm with Zevran and wrote to the Wardens asking if they had any advice about having a baby with the soul of an Old God, and whether the darkspawn would be after her kid?? The Wardens responded by sending Orlesian Warden-Constable Palorn Kader to help Mags manage Amaranthine, with orders to get the baby off her, bring it to Weisshaupt for study and kill it if deemed necessary.
With Mags being heavily pregnant, Palorn handled Awakening’s main questline. Meanwhile, Mags held court for the arling and tried to deal with Bann Esmerelle’s conspiracy. Esmerelle was assisted by a Crow named Veni Arainai, sent to Ferelden to kill Zevran, who suggested waiting for the baby to be born, then kidnapping her and holding her hostage to make Zevran and Mags surrender. Eventually, Palorn and Veni both decided that kidnapping babies is maybe bad actually and also their organisations suck, so they apologised and long story short, they all become friends. Mags’ daughter Issella was born a couple of weeks before the Darkspawn attacks on Amaranthine and Vigil’s Keep.
At the end of Awakening, Mags defended the Keep after Palorn and most of the other Wardens left for Amaranthine. They met up in the Dragonbone Wastes and came to a group decision to spare the Architect, provided he stayed away from Mags’ child and made reparations to the Dalish for killing Velanna’s clan.
Worried that it wouldn’t be long before they and their daughter were threatened by other groups of Wardens, Crows or Darkspawn, Mags and Zevran left Ferelden with Issella soon after the end of Awakening, only staying around to get married, and for Mags’ family to meet Issella. Wanting to know about Issella’s abilities and unable to contact Morrigan, they went to the Tellari Swamps to seek out the witch of the wilds rumoured to live there. They were accompanied by Anders and Veni, who wanted to join the running away plan to escape from templars and Crows.
Mags, Zevran, Issella and Calenhad are currently living in the Tellari Swamp, where Yavanna is teaching Issella magic, and how cool dragons are. Mags and Zevran occasionally leave the Swamps to visit towns outside, and they’re sometimes visited by Veni and several other former Crows, but they so far remain hidden from the many people who might harm Issella.
Personality: Mags’ biggest trait is her insecurity, but as time goes on she becomes more willing to stand up for her beliefs and tries her best to do what she believes is fair and right. As Arlessa of Amaranthine, she puts a lot of effort into protecting farmlands and villages, relating a lot to the difficulties faced by Freemen outside of cities. She also does her best to learn about different cultures and beliefs, beyond the homogeneous Andrastian society she grew up in, particularly after discovering she’s going to have a half-elven child. While she’s socially awkward, she will chatter on endlessly once she’s comfortable with someone. Mags is a proud Fereldan, with a great respect for Ferelden folktails, the Theirin bloodline, and most importantly dogs.
Appearance: Mags is tall, skinny and gangly. She’s covered in freckles.

Dragon Age Questions
I wasn’t tagged but I wanna!
01) Favourite game of the series?
DAI. No contest. That game saved my life after getting out of a toxic relationship.
02) How did you discover Dragon Age?
Been a BW fangirl ever since the olden Baldur’s Gate days.
03) How many times you’ve played the games?
Too many to count. Doing a replay right now.
04) Favourite race to play as?
While I love the elven backgrounds, all of my main OCs are human ladies.
05) Favourite class?
In DAO: Rogue. In DAII: Mage. In DAI: All equally!
06) Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time?
Same decisions each time on Main.
07) Go-to adventuring group?
DAO: Leliana, Alistair, Zevran pre Landsmeet, after the Landsmeet: Loghain, Leliana, Morrigan
08) Which of your characters did you put the most thought into?
Rhiannon Cousland. While both Desideria and Drusilla are extremely dear to me, Rhia wins by default. She’s been with me for nearly 20 years now (She was originally my Imperial Canon Nerevarine in TES: Morrowind) and I’m STILL adding and discovering nuances.
09) Favourite romance?
LOGHAIN! *Coughs* Okay.
DAO: Zevran
DAII: Merrill
DAI: Blackwall/Solas
10) Have you read any of the comics/books?
I peeked into the Gaider series bc of King Maric (And having heard that he mentions Loghain) but I am not interested in King Alistair.
11) If you read them, which was your favourite book?
I only read the first two and dropped Asunder mid book. TME isn’t Canon in my ‘verse. The Calling is better than TST, esp. Maric & Loghain acting like an old married couple. Though it infuriates me that so much material that makes Loghain’s behavior at Ostagar (Distrust of Wardens, tactical retreat etc.) is buried in material 90% of the players will never read.
12) Favourite DLCs?
Trespasser. Bar none.
13) Things that annoy you.
The Alistair favoritism in DAO. To the point that Alistair still acts like a king when he’s not and the companions don’t react to his exile or frigging EXECUTION. The sexism towards Queen Anora. The sea of bugs that is Awakening. The size of some DAI maps and their emptiness. The gift system in DAO.
14) Orlais or Ferelden?
Ferelden
15) Templars or mages?
Mages. Drusilla Trevelyan goes for Templars of the Just while the other half of her party goes to Redcliffe but I myself love the mages.
16) If you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one?
I did a few AUs with Rhia. Stardew Valley. Pillars of Eternity. Baldur’s Gate. A DA AU with @thecrownedserpent‘s lovely Hadiza Trevelyan as Inquisitor & Rhia as HoF. I am playing Pathfinder: Kingmaker with Desideria (Hawke) atm. The other origins exist in the Rhia ‘verse. Morgana Lyonesse Amell tutors Connor and eventually marries Bann Teagan. Tara Surana is the party’s main healer (Wynne came along though) and eventually marries Fergus Cousland. She reigns as Teyrna and occupies a seat in the Landsmeet. Myrna Tabris is the Hero of the Alienage and became Bann of the Alienage. Eluned Mahariel is Dalish ambassador at Queen Anora’s court. She later becomes Arlessa of Denerim, Chancellor and Queen Consort. Livia Aeducan becomes Livia Cadash after  being exiled and becomes a trader at Skyhold. Astya Brosca becomes King Bhelen’s sister in law and thus moves up from Duster to one of Orzammar’s highly sought marriage prospects. She rejects them all and stays with Leske. Unmarried. It’s quite the scandal!
17) What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)
Rhia’s mabari is named Gorion and Desideria’s mabari is called Styx. Drusilla Trevelyan has a black war horse, a mare named Ruffian.
18) Have you installed any mods?
Way too many.
19) Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden?
Absolutely not.
20) Hawke’s personality?
Mainly blue and red with a dash of Purple. Desideria
21) Did you make matching armor for your companions in Inquisition?
No.
22) If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?
Rhia: Get out of bed sooner that night at Highever. Gorion had been barking for a while. She may have been able to save Oriana and Oren then.
Desideria: Save her mother in time. Distract that ogre to save Bethany.
Drusilla: Talk to Solas after the loss of the orb
23) Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?
Way too many to list them all!
24) Are any of your character(s) based on someone?
Not really, no. Though I drew a lot of inspiration from Empress Elisabeth of Austria for Rhia.
25) Who did you leave in the Fade?
Stroud bc Loghain is topside leading the siege with Cullen and Alistair is Warden Constable at the Vigil.
26) Favourite mount?
I don’t use them a lot but THE PURPLE NUG!

Dragon Age Questions
I wasn’t tagged for this or anything, but I saw @danaduchy do this and thought it was neat, so I figured I’d do my own.
This feels like it has good potential as a tag meme, so I’ll go ahead and tag a few folks that I think might be interested. @rogue-lavellan @fallout-and-dragon-age @feeshies @dancing-flamingo-pirates @vulpestwinkulta @life-is-no-sugarlicking I’m not really sure how many of my mutuals are Dragon Age fans, but if anyone else wants to do this as well, have at it fellas!!! Go wild! (maybe tag me so I can see! I love hearing about others’ DA experiences!)
01) Favourite game of the series?
As much as I love DAO and DA2, I’m gonna have to say Inquisition, because it’s one of the few games where I put off the ending. I got to that Wicked Grace scene, and it just really dawned on me that I was near the end, I ended up putting the game down for about a week because I really wasn’t ready for it to be over. So yeah.
02) How did you discover Dragon Age?
A few of the blogs I followed for their Mass Effect content posted (and still post) about Dragon Age fairly often, so I’d heard of it and seen stuff about it, but for whatever reason I only really had a passing interest in wanting to play it. I guess I just thought I didn’t have time to get into something new?? My brother is also a Bioware fan, and he’d gotten some money for his birthday, so he ended up buying DAO, but he went to bed while it installed and my sleep schedule was messed up, so I ended up playing it before he did lol. whoops?
03) How many times you’ve played the games?
About 1.5 times? I’ve played through the whole trilogy once, I’ve started a second playthrough with some more mods, but I’m still on Origins for my 2nd playthrough. Any other “playthroughs” that I’ve started have basically just been replaying the intros of the games to get decent screenshots of some of my OCs and get a better idea of what they’ll look like.
04) Favourite race to play as?
I know this feels incredibly basic, but I like playing as an elf. I don’t really have a reason, I just kind of default to elves in just about any fantasy RPG. I also enjoyed playing as a Qunari (from what little I’ve played of that race so far) and I look forward to doing a proper run of Inquisition with my Adaar.
05) Favourite class?
Mage and Rogue. I haven’t really given Warrior a proper try yet, but it tends to feel a bit clunky.
06) Do you play through the games differently or do you make the same decisions each time?
I try to play differently as much as I can. I’m trying to make a point of having my 2nd run be fairly opposite to my 1st playthrough. But I really just cannot commit to some of the more purely evil options.
Like, there’s strategic choices I’ve had my characters make, like killing Connor to save everyone in Redcliffe, or allowing the Anvil of The Void to be used because Ferelden needs as strong an army as possible, or conscripting the Templars for their expertise in combating weird fade stuff, but there’s still some choices that I absolutely refuse to make (siding with Meredith, or executing Alistair, for example).
So for those choices, I just have a “Worst Case Scenario” world state on the Dragon Age Keep website.
07) Go-to adventuring group?
DAO: I kind of played favourites with Leliana and Alistair, switching out Morrigan and Wynne. But I’ve gotten better being fair with my 2nd run, and I actually really like taking Sten this time around.
DAA: I’m actually pretty even with them all, but my favourite combos were Anders, Nathaniel, Oghren, and Justice, Sigrun, and Velanna. Next time, for lore reasons, I guess I should take Anders and Justice together as much as possible
DA2: Aveline, Merrill, and Isabela. The girl squad(tm). Also Varric.
DAI: I’d like to think I was fair with my party selections, but Solas was there a lot. So was Varric. And Iron Bull, love him.
08) Which of your characters did you put the most thought into?
To be honest, for most of them, I went in blind and made up stuff about them later. It’s only been on my 2nd playthrough here that I’ve put some more forethought into my characters. (Like how my Amell has a good mind for strategy and risk assessment, or my Adaar is afraid of bears and was born on a boat crossing the Waking Sea). But in order from most to least developed I would say; Kieshara Tabris, Tamara Amell, Ilmanith Adaar, Valyhra Lavellan, Reuben Hawke, Juliana Hawke, Myrtle Trevelyan, Jerindeth Aeducan, Nellassan Andras, Mihya Nolahari.
09) Favourite romance?
DAO: Leliana. One of the few times I’ve legit crushed on a fictional character. Like, she compliments your hair, and she awkwardly flirts back and I just- wow, love her!
DA2: I really liked Isabela’s romance, but I accidentally locked myself out of it or the game glitched and I ended up with Merrill instead? Which is fine, she’s cute too! I’m gonna try romancing Fenris next, wish me luck!
DAI: Cullen. I just??? Love him?? Like, he’s attractive sure, but also relatable? I dunno, maybe I just bonded with his character over struggles with trauma/addiction/mental health. It feels like a story of growth and acceptance  and moving on, and I really love that about his romance tbh.
10) Have you read any of the comics/books?
I’ve read a few of the comics at least (The ones with Alistair, Varric, and Isabela) I’ve also started on Magekiller, but I haven’t picked it up in a while because I’ve been preoccupied.
11) If you read them, which was your favourite book?
Honestly, I really loved the Silent Grove series. Though it did bug me a bit that it relied so heavily on Alistair being the king of Ferelden. I guess I can always just handwave his involvement in the story as “official Grey Warden business” when placing it in the context of my 2nd world state.
12) Favourite DLCs?
DAO: I’d probably say Awakening. Shame they haven’t really expanded on a lot of the concepts it introduced though :/
DA2: Legacy, really gave me those ancient mystery/cosmic horror vibes.
DAI: The Descent was a fun one, kinda for the same reasons I enjoyed Legacy to be honest.
13) Things that annoy you.
Across all three games, there’s stuff like plot-holes and loose threads that have been left untied (so far), but as for other things that annoy me, I dislike most of game mechanics in Inquisition because they’re so different from the other games.
Instead of using the Tab key to highlight every point of interest in the area, you gotta use echolocation or whatever the hell that radar ping is. And unless you have 7.5 headphones, you’re left just guessing wildly where the thing is you’re searching for.
You can’t interact with anything that’s more than 3 feet away from your character, so you have to manually walk right up to things instead of just clicking on the door at the far end of a room and letting the AI handle it.
Gotta pull up the map every 5 seconds because they replaced the minimap with a compass, and I don’t know where the fuck I am going! Oh hey, the thing I need is right there, oh nope there’s a mountain in the way. Gee, would have been nice to know that ahead of time!!!
I cannot tell my save games apart at all, so when I have to go back a save or two, I have to make a wild guess based on date and time, how long it’s been played for, and the general area it gives you. No more custom thumbnail to show you exactly where you were, can’t name your saves. ugh.
Hopefully they fix some of these things in DA4, but hey at least I can finally make my character jump!
14) Orlais or Ferelden?
Ferelden, it’s got that fantasy-grunge aesthetic that I love; grey stones, browns and green everywhere but not in a lush-jungle way, colder weather, fur cloaks and steel. It’s like Skyrim, with less vikings (well, except for the Avvar tribes).
I like Orlais’ aesthetic too, with the ridiculously fancy decor everywhere, but living there would basically just be like Game Of Thrones; Thedas Edition. Trust nobody, anyone and everyone could be ready to kill you if you get in their way.
15) Templars or mages?
Personally? Mages. I think they deserve to be free. I should clarify; free from towers and cages, not free from responsibility. After all, their abilities can potentially become dangerous if not treated with healthy caution and care.
The only game I can really see myself siding with the Templars intentionally is in Inquisition, and even then I still plan to disband them. I accidentally sided with the Templars in my first run of Origins because I couldn’t figure out the Litany of Adralla and the mages died as a result :(
16) If you have multiple characters, are they in different/parallel universes or in the same one?
I feel like most of them definitely co-exist in the same universe. However, I view the different playthroughs as alternate timelines, with my 1st playthrough being my “canon” timeline. That being said, I’m still working out the placement and fates of my other OCs in the different timelines though.
The only characters that I’m fairly sure don’t/couldn’t exist in the same universe are my Hawke’s because they’re from different ethnic backgrounds, with Juliana being of Antivan heritage, and Reuben has some Rivaini blood in him.
17) What did you name your pets? (mabari, summoned animals, mounts, etc)
For my first playthrough, as a dumb nerd joke, I named the dog “Dogmeat”. I changed it later to Pariel, but Kieshara calls him “Parry”. She also had the Ranger spec, and she named those animals too: Tilly was the spider, Vessa was the wolf, and the bear’s name was Oursin (Leliana might have helped with that last one when asked what the French Orlesian word for bear was. Kieshara thought it was funny). They didn’t respond to the names, because they weren’t really “pets” per se, but it helped Kieshara to organize them in her head.
Tamara named the dog Marco. There’s no interesting story there, she just liked the name.
The Hawke’s family dog is either Gaius (for Juliana) or Chester (for Reuben)
Valyhra had a horse named Ilrian, who sadly perished during the Assault on Haven. She later received a Hart as a gift from her Clan and the City of Wycome as thanks for the Inquisition’s aid, she named her Melothra. And of course, there’s Pepper, the mabari hound that she and Cullen adopted together.
Ilmanith has a Mountain Dracolisk that she named Ozurak. Overall, she’s never been especially fond of animals, but she’s unusually protective towards her Dracolisk.
18) Have you installed any mods?
A lot honestly. Mostly cosmetic mods, like hair or improved textures. As well as a few gameplay ones (like one that lets you bring the dog as a 5th member of the party in DAO, or another one that makes the combat not slow as hell also for DAO). Also, I use a mod that lets you complete the war table missions instantly, thank the maker. I can’t remember them all right now, maybe I’ll make a list later.
19) Did your Warden want to become a Grey Warden?
Kieshara wasn’t too keen on the idea. To start with, she absolutely did not trust Duncan when he arrived. Having grown up uneducated in an isolated community, she’d never really heard of the Grey Wardens. All she knew was that humans who showed up in the Alienage wearing armour and carrying weapons had bad intentions more often than not. She’d seen templars, city guards, mercenaries, it rarely ended well. She eventually warmed to the idea during the week-long journey from Denerim to Ostagar, as Duncan revealed what little information he could, putting Kieshara through a brief crash course of the Grey Warden’s history.
For Tamara, it was almost too good to be true. Life in the Circle Tower was a bit dull at best, and life-threatening at worst. So Tamara often found her escape in the many books that could be found in the tower’s library, especially historical documents and non-fiction. She enjoyed the accounts of the Grey Wardens most, thinking them to be a very brave organization to face something as menacing sounding as the darkspawn. So a chance to leave Kinloch Hold and join the ranks of the heroes she’d read about? It was a dream come true. Well, almost, except for the whole childhood friend becoming a blood mage apostate part.
There was nothing about Jerindeth’s situation that was ideal, with Trian dead, and Bhelen using Jerindeth as a scapegoat, and being tossed to the Deep Roads and left at the mercy of the darkspawn or whatever horrors awaited them there. But they had a grudging respect for the Grey Wardens, and it was either follow Duncan or die in the Deep Roads (imagine what a horrible shock it was to them when they eventually learned that most Grey Wardens ended up going to the Deep Roads to die anyhow)
20) Hawke’s personality?
For Juliana; She was mostly diplomatic, but she cracked jokes every now and then. Cover the pain and fear with humour I guess?
For Reuben; I imagine he’s gonna be mostly humorous/sarcastic, maybe gradually adding a bit more fire and rage when things start going to shit.
21) Did you make matching armor for your companions in Inquisition?
I barely even made armour for myself, honestly. I don’t tend to explore the crafting element much in games. At most, I think I crafted a magic-bladed sword, modified a few weapons and armour, but apart from that I only really used the tinting option, because some of the default colour schemes and materials are ugly as hell.
22) If your character(s) could go back in time to change one thing, what would they change?
Kieshara has many regrets, but the one that haunts her most were the events at Kinloch Hold. She found the templars’ attitude towards the mages despicable, it reminded her of how herself and the other elves were treated back in Denerim. When Cullen told her to slay any remaining mages in the upper level of the tower, Kieshara refused his pleas. These were living people, she couldn’t simply kill them. But when she got up there, she froze. Facing abominations was one thing, but actually seeing them created before her eyes deeply disturbed her, and in her terror she couldn’t hear Wynne shouting at her to activate the Litany of Adralla. By the time she got her focus back, it was too late to save any of them.
Tamara doesn’t really have a whole lot that she would change. The Blight was growing fast. If she hadn’t made the tough calls, there might not have been a country left to save. Though, she does wish that maybe she had kept a closer eye on her friend Jowan. Ironically, she herself ended up turning to blood magic in the last few months of the 5th Blight, but she was never so careless as he had been, and she certainly would never have poisoned someone for money.
Juliana would have tried to save Bethany. Her and Bethany were usually in sync when it came to fighting and training together, but the one time Juliana slipped up, Bethany paid for it with her life. However, Juliana has no regrets about leaving Carver at home, even if he ended up joining the Templars.
Reuben’s biggest regret is that he didn’t keep a closer eye on those around him. Maybe if he’d kept a more keen eye, he could have foresaw some of the more horrible things before they’d happened; like all the betrayals and murders.
If Valyhra were to go back and change things, she would probably be just a bit more rude to people who turned out to not deserve her kindness. That’s really about it.
There really isn’t much that Ilmanith would change, except maybe she would have dropped the tough lady act for a bit and gotten medical attention, amputating her hand instead of letting the Anchor fester and grow for 2 years past its usefulness. It surely would have made matters easier on Dagna, only having to design a hand instead of a full arm replacement.
I can’t really think of anything for my other OCs right now.
23) Do you have any headcanons about your character(s) that go against canon?
Not really? I usually try my best to take what canon gives me and work within that, maybe bending a few things here and there when needed. I have a few headcanons that are maybe a bit unconventional, but most of the time there’s nothing in canon that explicitly says I’m wrong lol
24) Are any of your character(s) based on someone?
The only one of my Dragon Age OCs that I intentionally based on a person would be Myrtle Trevelyan. I based her appearance (and maybe some aspects of her personality??) off of this alt model that I’ve low-key been crushing on for the past month and a bit or so. Any other OCs likeness to real people is purely coincidental (which makes trying to do those Face Claim memes I was tagged in especially difficult)
25) Who did you leave in the Fade?
Stroud. It was a fairly easy decision honestly, given that Juliana Hawke met him for a whole 30 seconds in DA2 while the Qunari were attacking the city and he just skipped out. My 2nd playthrough won’t be as easy of a choice though, because I’ll likely have to choose between Alistair or Reuben Hawke and I’m just...not sure. Thankfully that decision is a whole 2 games away at this point lol.
26) Favourite mount?
Anything goes, really. There aren’t actually a lot of maps where I liked using the mounts?? The only map where I used the mount fairly often was...one of the desert ones I think? I found most of the maps were perfectly fine to travel by foot, because they had a lot of ups and downs, things to climb, things to go explore inside of. Can’t really do a lot of that easily when you’re riding on a horse/elk/dracolisk/giant nug. So I usually just went without a mount unless I was feeling particularly impatient.
