In which I say that Constable Carter seems to be a dimwit, that Roger’s behavior these last several days indicates that he is trying to keep more than one secret, that David makes good use of his second direct look into the camera, and that the last few seconds of the episode feature a powerful bit of acting by Alexandra Moltke Isles.

Shadow & Bone - S2
What I wanted to happen:
Kaz Brekker picking a lock
Feydor showing of more of his heartrending abilities
Feydor + Ivan reuniting
Fivan (in general)
Wesper (in general)
Who I wanted to see:
Feydor Kaminsky
Genya Safin
Ivan
Kaz Rietveld (young Kaz)
Jordie Rietveld
Favourite moments:
Jesper admitting to liking Wylan
Kaz buries Pekka’s son
David & Genya - “You don’t need fixing”
Kaz fighting the Dregs
The Crow’s flashbacks/hallucinations
Baghra’s death
The Crows fight with The Disciple
Genya finding David’s plans for a ring
Inej & Kaz in the chapel saying their goodbyes
Good things:
The sets were beautiful;
Novyi Zem was so vibrant and full of life. The architecture and fabrics shown were so detailed, the streets honestly felt so full of life.
I loved seeing more of Ketterdam and Kerch, it made it feel even more real. The darkness and grittiness of the streets was so clear and really added to the atmosphere of those scenes.
Shu Han was simply a work of art. The merchant’s tables and their wares were so intriguing and realistic, and the alter (if that’s what it’s called) where Zoya and Tolya paid their respects to the deceased was so beautiful.
The costuming continues to impress me!
The intricate details of each characters outfits really added to their realness and authenticity.
The Kefta’s were absolutely beautiful, as always! The details in each of them was amazing - I loved how Kirigan’s Kefta began to feature Alina’s gold throughout the season.
The casting was fabulous!
Jack was incredible as Wylan, despite not having red hair he really embodied Wylan for me.
I thought Patrick did an incredible job as Nikolai and really sold the performance.
Some of the acting was absolutely incredible!
Freddy Carter really channeled Kaz Brekker this season, and not only that but he really channeled Dirtyhands. There were so many scenes where his performance gave me chills! His ability to really become his character is superb! The mannerisms, the posture, the facial expressions, the voice, everything just screamed Kaz - Dirtyhands - Brekker.
Ben Barnes continued to amaze me! His performance as Kirigan is honestly incredible. His ability to channel Aleksander’s vulnerabilities, manipulations, ambitions and cruelties all at once is something I will never not be in awe of. Kirigan’s pain and rage is so beautifully acted out this season and I found myself on the edge of my seat every time he was on screen!
Amita Suman - Just Amita Suman! My God was she incredible! Not a single scene went by that she didn’t dominate. Her interactions with Mogen were so chilling and so harrowing. I wouldn’t be suprised if there was an Oscar with her name on it in the future.
Matthias’ religion.
I loved how they showed Matthias relationship with his religion and how he is trying to reconcile wanting Nina while still believing in his God.
The fact that he refused to fight the wolves as they were sacred and important to his culture and his God, and then later calling out for Nina (A Grisha) and trying to get to her as he is dragged out of the ring is such an interesting dichotomy and I’m looking forward to how they might take this further.
The transitions the season were insane:
Kaz in The Disciples room -> Kaz in the river
Bad things.
Some of the acting left things to be desired.
There were a few characters whose acting was not at the level as everyone else’s, and I found this quite distracting and it did take away from my ability to suspend-my-disbelief a bit. An example of this was with some of the background Grisha characters, such as Fruszi.
Some of the scenes could have gone further.
The scene where Kaz tells Pekka he buried his son was incredibly acted in the show and I did love it, however in the book the scene was much longer and there was no mention or motive of having Pekka confess to Heleen and the Constable’s murders or him releasing Inej. The focus is more on Kaz’s anger and revenge, he is much more insistent in the book that Pekka says Jordie’s name; however once he gives up the information about where Pekka’s son is after he begs and Pekka runs off, Kaz reveals that he had never even seen his son and his motive was simply to have Pekka seen running out of town with his medics in tow at the same time that the plague was appearing at his establishments. Kaz is far crueler in the books, mocking Pekka and saying how the sound of his son crying for him was the sweetest sound he had ever heard. I feel like in the show Kaz rolled over and gave in much easier and far quicker, whereas in the book the exchange lasted far longer.
Inej should have gotten her own ship at the end instead of joining Sturmhond’s crew.
I would have loved to have seen my two favourite characters come back - Ivan & Feydor Kaminsky.
Overall
I really enjoyed it! It was fun and dramatic and had some really cool action scenes. I think it followed the first season pretty damn well, and I’m looking forward to seeing what they might do with a season 3.
There was some bumps in the road along the way, things I wasn’t so keen on but isn’t that always the way...
It’s definitely not an accurate and verbatim adaptation of the books but it is without a doubt an impressive and enjoyable one.

It formulaic, but which whodunit isn’t? The real draw is the comical vibe of the movie.
And the dynamic between inspector and constable.

@timeguardians (For Peggy)
Continued from Here
“Oh I wish,” Troy grimaces when Agent Carter asks if his injuries just came from mouthing off to someone bigger then he was. “These,” he gingerly touched his eye and the cuts on his face, “are the signs of a lucky break. Some bloke booby-trapped his house when he figured we were coming to arrest him. I just stumbled in on the trigger at the wrong point and got hit with the box he was using to weigh it down. It’s better then getting blown up though.” He shrugs, trying to use the casual gesture to dismiss his discomfort with the whole situation.
He is still alive, is he not? He figures he should be grateful for that… but even gratitude does not seem to be enough to stop the recurring cases of the jitters that keep plaguing him. It has been two days. He figures he should be over the worst of it by now instead of anxiously staring at the ground every time he has to walk through a doorway, or scanning rooms for suspiciously arranged boxes or furniture…
Troy does not quite catch the way Peggy’s stance stiffens at his casually insensitive comment, but he cannot miss the barely concealed pain in her quiet comment. Realizing too late that his badly-timed joke hurt her in some way, he awkwardly clears his throat as his eyes settle on his desk. “No… um… No, I guess not everyone is, Miss… er Agent.” He admits. “Sorry.”
He is not sure what he is apologizing for—his own comment or whatever grief she is carrying—but that seems to be the fastest and safest way out of this sticky patch. He is not the kind of man to put a huge amount of weight on the word ‘sorry’… but then he rarely finds himself in the kind of situations where apologizing is hard. Normally, he is just trying to make up for some social faux pas he inadvertently committed. He rarely does truly horrible things that actually wound people deeply.
Agent Carter confirms her identity quickly, and Troy happily relaxes into the comfortable routine triggered by work. At her comment about the county, he has to smile tiredly. “Oh, it’s pretty enough but near-enough everyone here is bats. Stick around Causton—doesn’t seem to be as many loonies here in town as you get in the villages.”
She accepts his offer for tea, and he moves over to the small stand they keep near-by. It will not be fancy, of course, but having a hot drink on hand does wonders to relax nervous people, or pass a boring afternoon of paperwork. While he starts setting the drink up, he inclines his head as she asks the pertinent question.
“That, I don’t know right now, Agent Carter.” He confesses. “Chief Inspector Barnaby, my boss, requested you come down here, but he passed it through the Chief Constable. I… uh… wasn’t really made privy to those conversations. I was just told meet you when you got here.”
As he explains the situation, Troy tries to hide a little pang of annoyance. Normally, Barnaby and he work in tandem because teams are more efficient when everyone has the same amount of information. However, occasionally, Barnaby elbows him out. He is sure there is a good reason for it but, for the life of him, he cannot figure out what it might be this time.
“I’ll tell you this much,” Troy adds after a few seconds. “I think it’s connected to the case we just closed, with the bloke who tried to blow me up. The Chief Inspector found something in his house but, since I was with the ambulance, I don’t know what it was. It must have been pretty serious though. Barnaby normally doesn’t look like he’s seen a ghost—doesn’t even believe in them actually—but by the time he made it down to check on me, he looked like he’d seen about twenty of them. Cream or sugar?” He held up the cup of tea for Peggy to see, waiting for her instructions on how she took it.

"BOY WAS SHOT AND LEFT LYING ALONE BY HIS TWO CHUMS," Toronto Star. October 7, 1912. Page 8.
---
Suspicious Circumstances Attend Shooting of Alex. Rea, Aged 13. Near West Toronto.
---
CHUMS UNDER ARREST
----
Charged With Shooting With Intent to Kill - Lads Were Hunting in Rowntree's Bush.
----
One boy in the Western Hospital in a serious condition from two bullet wounds, and two others under arrest charged with shooting with intent to kill, is the result of a hunting expedition of the three lads in Rowntree's Bush, about a quarter of a mile north of the city limits in West Toronto, Saturday afternoon.
Alexander Rea, of 341 Perth avenue: Arthur Sears, of 16 Gilbert avenue, and James Macpherson, of 181 Emerson avenue, started out Saturday noon to shoot in the bush. They had not been there long before the accident to Rea occurred, and the reason that the two others are now in custody is that they left their chum lying wounded in the bush.
About 5.30 Saturday afternoon InSpector Mulhall, of Keele Street Po- lice Station, received word that someone had been shot in the bush, and with Constable Hess, went out and found the boy lying in the grass suffering from his wounds. He was hurled to the Western Hospital, and, although his condition is critical, his recovery is expected.
Shot in Thigh and Head.
He regained consciousness last night, after remaining unconscious since the accident, and his condition his morning was very favorable. There is a bullet hole through the right thigh and a large wound on the left side of his head.
Shortly after the boy was sent to the hospital Inspector Mulhall and Detective Carter arrested Arthur Sears hat his home in Gilbert avenue, and took him to No. 9 Station. The Sears boy had a shotgun, which was taken by the police. That another boy was in the party was learned from people who had seen the three together, but at the station Sears refused to tell who was the third one. Last night, however, James Macpherson was placed under arrest at his home in Emerson avenue, and is said to have admitted to the police that he fired three shots.
Cartridges which would fit his small rifle were found near the place where Rea was found.
Although the shooting is supposed to have been purely accidental, the police are going to get at the bottom of the affair, because there are rumors of a quarrel. The parents of the boys refuse to discuss the case. Mr. and Mrs. Rea were at the hospital yesterday, and even there they would give no particulars of the accident.
As Sears and Macpherson, the two now in custody, are sixteen years old the case with come up in the police court, instead of before Commissioner Stark. Rea is but thirteen years of age.

Retiring RCMP Commissioner Lucki to present on 'handling mass casualty events' at global conference
A week before her retirement as the head of Canada’s national police force, RCMP Commissioner Brenda Lucki is scheduled to speak at a global conference focused on “police innovation.”
According to a post Tuesday on her official Twitter account, Lucki is speaking at the World Police Summit being held in Dubai from March 7 to 9. Lucki’s last day as RCMP commissioner is March 17.
The event's website lists Lucki as a featured speaker for two sessions. The first is a plenary session titled “Commissioners Session: Trust, Fairness, and Resilience: The Evolving Dynamics of Police Leadership,” with a general focus on “choosing the next best officer to lead the force.”
The other is a panel on “Handling Mass Casualty Events.” According to the website, Lucki is the sole speaker for that particular event. CTV News has asked RCMP Headquarters to confirm whether Lucki is appearing in person or virtually, and is awaiting a response.
Lucki’s tenure as Canada’s top cop has been controversial, facing criticism most recently for her handling of the police response during and after the Nova Scotia mass shooting in April 2020, and the “Freedom Convoy” protests in Ottawa last year.
Her retirement comes two weeks before the Nova Scotia Mass Casualty Commission's final report into Nova Scotia’s 2020 tragedy, which will be made public at an event in Truro March 30.
Former Ontario Provincial Police Commissioner and CTV public safety analyst Chris Lewis says the timing of her presentations misses the mark.
“I don’t think it’s a well-thought-out decision on the commissioner’s part,” he says. “Comparatively I spent the last few weeks of my career visiting people in the province who supported me and worked hard to protect the province of Ontario ... Obviously her decision.”
As for the topics she will be addressing at the event, Lewis says the optics aren’t good.
“She’s not necessarily leaving on a high note, unfortunately, some of that probably unfairly earned and some of it maybe not,” he says.
“But the bottom line is the RCMP response to the mass casualty wasn’t necessarily great, and that’s not always the fault of the commissioner, but she played a role in that, and there was a lot of issues there that ultimately she was criticized for.”
“So I don’t think it’s necessarily a good taste decision on her part,” Lewis adds. “Why not send potential replacements?”
Former Nova Scotia RCMP constable Brian Carter says he doesn’t fault Lucki for honouring an invitation to speak at the event.
“From my own experience with respect to speaking at conferences,” says Carter, “these things are pre-planned months in advance and the speakers are sought out … so for the commissioner to be asked to this one in Dubai, she would have been asked and it would be part of her duty to do that.”
“They planned this conference months and months ago, maybe years ago, and it just happens to be coinciding with the release of the [Mass Casualty Commission] report, so it’s really coincidental on that side,” he adds.
CTV News also reached out to organizers of the World Police Summit on Lucki’s appearance and has yet to hear back.
This is a developing story … More to come.

„See how they run/ Uite-i cum fug”: cea mai grozava crima regizata vreodata, un adevarat whodunnit pe marele ecran
„See how they run/ Uite-i cum fug” este produs de Damian Jones, alături de Gina Carter.
Chappell a reușit asta.

Alwyn Wolfaardt of the neo-Nazi "Afrikaner Resistance Movement" (AWB) begging for his life and the lives of two other AWB members shortly before they were shot by a police constable on March 10th, 1994. During the 1994 Bophuthatswana crisis between the South African government and the Government of Bophuthatswana Bantustan, the self-proclaimed AWB "Colonel" Wolfaardt, "Field Cornet" Jacobus Uys, and "General" Nicolaas Fourie participated in an AWB convoy that was driving around and shooting at roadside houses of black citizens. Constables of the Bophuthatswana Defense Force stopped their car by shooting Fourie and Wolfaardt in the neck and arm. Uys was also shot in the leg. Though Wolfaardt was quickly disarmed by the police, a constable named Ontlametse Bernstein Menyatose approached them and asked if they really were with the AWB. When Wolfaardt confirmed that they were, Menyatose raised his rifle and he executed all three of them at point-blank range despite Wolfaardt's pleas. Menyatose shouted: "Who do you think you are? What are you doing in my country?" as he shot them. He claimed that he did this because his emotions ran high after he saw a mother who had been wounded by AWB gunfire. The killing of Wolfaardt, Uys and Fourie was witnessed by more than a dozen international journalists and Menyatsoe immediately applied for amnesty from the South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Though the application was opposed by the families of the three dead AWB men, and despite AWB leader Eugene Terre'Blanche pointing out that the men were all unarmed and were not a threat at the time of their deaths, Menyatsoe's application was accepted by the TRC and he was never charged with any crimes relating to this event. The 1994 Bophuthatswana crisis later ended with the region being incorporated into South Africa and the subsequent restoration of order by the South African Defense Force. Kevin Carter, the photojournalist who captured this image, took his own life just four months later on July 27th, 1994. This event along with many horrifying sights which he photographed during the famine in Sudan a year prior are believed to have contributed to his suicide. https://www.instagram.com/p/CiujLu7Dfb16GCPPFLQ5F-8KUKUeFspE8EiRkc0/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
