I'm sure this same post has been made like 10 thousand times but man i hate having the "sorry I'm just so ocd about it" or "sorry I have ocd I love cleaning haha" told to me for the thousandth time when I'm sitting here struggling my whole life with contamination ocd myself and lemme tell you it is not just "oh this one thing is out of order I gotta fix it" its intrusive thoughts involving vivid imagery of destruction, germs, dirt, contamination, etc. etc. it's really not fun tbh
Like as a kid I'd wash my hands till they cracked and bled, I'd wear gloves, I'd freak out after touching things, it was actually debilitating and horrible. I still struggle a lot w/ it but I can manage it a bit better now as an adult.
Tldr; Cleanliness ocd is not just "teehee I gotta clean" its anxiety-inducing and a brain disorder that makes you need to wash yourself, things, spaces, clothes, etc. constantly to your detriment over and over and over again. So please, keep the "ocd jokes" to yourself.

You don't need entirely separate cookware from the people in your house that eat food with gluten if you have celiac disease.
Wash the dishes thoroughly, just as you would to dispose of germs.
We need to talk about the issue of so many people developing contamination OCD due to misinformation about cross-contamination and how they often spread it to other people in the celiac community, especially those newly diagnosed.
Yes, there ARE real cross contamination risks such as fast food fryers and food manufactured in facilities thst also manufacture wheat containing products, especially as with the latter its really up to your own judgement whether you believe they clean them between batches as thoroughly as they say, but you DO NOT need to use an entirely separate metal pan to make gluten free food just because your roommate cooked non-gluten free pasta in it two nights ago.
Please, please, please, educate yourself and speak to professionals and read actual scientific studies. Contamination OCD is not fun and it's incredibly careless to generate an unnecessary amount of fear around an autoimmune illness that is already incredibly difficult to deal with the diagnosis of.

sometimes OCD makes no goddamn sense. i went to go eat an orange M&M and got hit with the feeling that if i eat artificially colored orange food i’ll be poisoned and die in my sleep

Stuff I use regularly that's technically not a mobility aid but sure help me get places I otherwise wouldn't be able to
Bicycle - Fairly obvious one. Gets me to the shops fast without killing my legs like walking or driving would. I can even lean on it when I'm walking with it to still take weight off my questionable knees!
Noise cancelling headphones - Going out used to be a pain for the whole family because you can only spend so long out when you don't know where the next "safe" toilet is. The world opened up so much more to me when I no longer had to worry about extractor fans and hand dryers.
Long sleeved shirt/jacket - Contamination OCD freaking sucks but fortunately I've got it mild enough that if I cover my hand while touching stuff like buttons and door handles my brain doesn't go too crazy. So it's useful to have something with nice long sleeves I can retreat my hands into. I'd use gloves but they make my hands feel uncomfortable.
Bottle of hand sanitizer - Similar to the above one. Sometimes I'm having a bit of An Episode™ and everything is extra dirty or I dropped something on The Ground and can't just leave it somewhere until my brain forgets it's supposed to be toxic. Squirting a ton of gel onto the offending hand/object is a lot quicker and easier than retreating to the nearest bathroom to go clean it, and most of the time it's enough to keep The Thoughts at bay.
A solid pair of walking/military/safety boots - Combined with my arch supports, I can manage a bit more walking without totally killing my legs. I think it's the ankle support? With black leather military ones I can even wear them with formal wear under a long enough pair of trousers. They're not so fun when it's hot, but while I can function on a pair of trainers, walking boots are my usual everyday shoe. My latest pair even have hooks at the top instead of lace holes so I can either have them as slipon trainers with extra ankle if I'm going cycling or for a long car ride, or I can quickly lace them up all the way if I'm going walking. I was absolutely spoiled by a pair of leather safety boots I got a year or so ago. When they were new, I could walk to the morrisons on the other side of town and back and the only pain I had was from tying the laces too tight. Unfortunately the leather stretched and the boots got too big.
Not sure why I made this post, just wanted to ramble about it for a while. Feel free to add stuff!

when I mention that I have OCD and people think I mean I'm an organized perfectionist, but then they find out I'm actually constantly bordering on psychosis

OCD is so weird because what do you mean I have contamination anxiety about my towel hanging in the bathroom?
I finally overcame that yesterday. I sort of still stress about it at certain points throughout the day. But it's still in the bathroom. So I'm proud of myself.

please stop dismissing stereotypical OCD themes just because we're what people think of first when they hear 'OCD'. i'm tired of seeing it. awareness is great but not when you act like contamination and just right don't exist

my ocd is getting bad again.
i cant eat anything without believing it’s moldy, contaminated, or poisoned.
i cant sit anywhere without feeling like i need to cry because i have the germs on me.
i cant even sit down in my bed after i showered for the day unless i spray it with disinfectant first. even tho i don’t even go near my bed without changing into clean, fresh clothes, and using excess amounts of hand sanitizer before touching anything.
cant even shower right. if i don’t double everything, im not clean. have to shampoo twice, conditioner sits in my hair after shampoo til the end of my shower, but if it gets rinsed out even the slightest i have to redo it, have to body wash two times.. mess up any of the routine and i have start over.
i cant walk anywhere in my house with just socks on, i have to have on slippers. but specific slippers for specific places. walking into the kitchen/living room i can wear my gray slippers, but laundry room and bathroom i can only wear my crocs. cant wear either in my bedroom though.
i feel so defeated.
