Girl is the daughter to some famous guy and he loves her so so so so so so much and doesn't want her to be involved in fame and scandals. So he hires a bodyguard for her so that she can have some freedom and also NOT be seen with him. And bodyguard is just super chill with the man's gushing and doesn't originally try super hard to befriend the girl. It's a job and he just needs her safe and outta the spotlight.

It's going pretty well and is all fine until his friend shows up. Who looks really angy. And glares a lot. So she assumes this friend is just a punk and the bodyguard is like "oh he's nice. he just looks like that when he's nervous."

So when the bodyguard is like "ok i gotta go talk with your dad meaning I can't walk with you to school but I got permission to let my friend walk with you" and she's like okay. I understand. I'm resigned to my fate of never being independent. And then when the guy is like "I need proof or your dad will kill me" and she agrees, HE BEAMS BECAUSE HE GETS TO LIVE ANOTHER DAY. And he shows her the picture and is like "before I send it, this okay with you?" and she nods. She's never seen him smile like that. Huh.

And now the girl has her very loving dad, her loving mom, her protective and kind bodyguard and his weird (boy)friend. And so she has two separate groups of people that love her and she's really happy.

I dont have a clear idea in my mind but ever since I sketched that dumb AU of Shinjiham in HS i have the feminine urge to make up a HC of them lmao i doubt anybody be reading this but i like talking to myself and reread this the next morning so ima just write this down lol

Like I said I dont have a clear idea but basically Shinji extended his study and ended up in the same year as Kotone (11th grade) because he actually got into a coma. Im playing around the idea that the story revolves around why is he in the same year as she is? Why did he fell into coma and how did he get into coma in the first place? This also means that Kotone didn't meet him until he enrolled into her class. Aki is still her senior and they're friends because idk I havent think of this yet lol but anyway one day Aki asked if she can help him keep an eye on Shinji and told her about him going to enroll in her class soon and he knows Shinji will struggle because he's pretty much an outcast and some people speculates and make rumors about his reasoning for his extension and Aki really cares for him and doesnt want him to fall behind or fail so he asked her a favor to help him out.

Shinji is hard to befriend at first and tell her to buzz off but when she mentioned Aki asked her to keep an eye on him and she won't take no for an answer, he sighed and said how annoying he is for setting him up like that lol At first he is kinda frustrated at how persistent she is on trying to help him and how she gets into everyone's business in class but he's aware of how contagious her presence can be and knows how people around her always be at ease when she's in class so he slowly opened up to her and accepts her kindness.

I dont really want him to be as depressive and suicidal as canon but I can see him having a self-worth issue and having a hard time accepting goodness around him. I kinda imagine at one point Shinji and Aki had a huge fight about him pushing everyone away and screaming at him that he's not as mysterious as he thinks he is and he's too blind by his own pity party to see how people still loves him and it took him a fist on the face and Aki crying to get that through his thick skull.

After the fight, he didn't come to school for a few days which actually worries Kotone because despite how uninterested Shinji always be in class, he never delibrately skip class and oddly enough he always pass his homework on time so she visited his place with his homework packets (and after bribing the office clerk for his address) and when she sees him all bruised up in his face she was like SHINJI WHAT HAPPENED WHY YOURE ALL FUCKED UP WHO DID THIS TO YOU AWAFSJQGRAJALA and he hissed at her to shut up and after she apologised, he admits that Aki punched him and after reassuring her it's technically his fault, he asked if she actually liked him and just as she's about to stammer with red on her cheeks, he quickly corrected himself that what he meant is if she likes being friends with him because he is such an ass to her and opens up about what he fought about with Aki and it's not until he sees tears in Aki's face that he's not the only one hurting and him pushing people away to not hurt them actually hurts other people too. Kotone assured him that if he realized that, its not too late to change and he has friends to help him get back on his feet. When she mentioned "friends", he looked at her and asked "Kotone, are we friends?" And she beamed at him and hook his pinky around her and whispered "Always been." and that's when he really accepts her and sees her as a genuine friend and not some annoying girl in class.

Idk how do I make them ended up dating but I just like the idea of a slow burn relationship so in the meantime they're just friends with budding feelings towards each other hsksksksksk

Hello! I’m curious about just like any Skittery thoughts you might have :)

My thoughts on Skittery are much more sparse in comparison to let's say some of the other characters (Swifty, Bumlets, Sarah etc) but he's so fascinating to me especially with the characterization of fanon interpretation and how that's essentially created an image of projection for him. I put a divider because this is going to get long but I tried to shorten it as much as I could, sorry in advance!

A lot of my newsies ideas are primarily influenced by older newsies blogs like jackkellystories and former-main-blog-ignore have written about Skittery. They're just so so good, definitely recommend checking them out!

One thing I agree to a t with them about Skittery though is that guy has undiagnosed depression, and it get's worse in the winter. Throughout the movie he agrees a lot with Racetrack in being the voice of reason, and if not then increasingly pessimistic contrasted with the other newsies's attitude. I don't think he's the type that likes to wallow considering he knows that wallowing would get him worse off in the conditions he's in, but he's an over thinker by nature. He's petulant in the scene where Denton leaves Tibby's, crossing his arms over his chest and it reads so well for me to think that he's the type to set himself up for rejection but ultimately can't handle it very well. Although there's a unanimous agreement within fandom that Tumbler is essentially Skittery's little brother figure I didn't really read it that way for a while. I still think Skittery has a hard time connecting with Tumbler exactly for the reasons of him being pessimistic and willingly shunning any kind of hope so it's not dashed for him. However I do ascribe to the idea of Skittery being desperate for hope or good things, so I am not immune to him being a kind of older brother figure to Tumbler.

He also kind of strikes me as the type to half-ass things, I'm not sure why I think it's just that he'll put 50% of his effort into making his hair look nice but abandon cleaning off his vest. In regards to the other newsies I think he wants to remain passive, but get's way too invested in his role in the relationship he has with others to actually not care. This tidbit is mostly for me but I think he gets along with most of the other newsies if a bit distant, but cannot wrap his mind around how some of them act. (ie. one time Swifty just gave him food everytime he saw him, and Skittery was stumped about what that meant for about a week but didn't complain because free food)

That said he's definitely judgmental of how other's carry themselves. One, simply because that idea makes me giggle, and Two, I can see how he might use other's as a standard essentially for his own presentation subconsciously.

He's got so many issues (affectionate).

These are really shallow thoughts but thank you for reading. He's just a teenager trying to make it by while having the (absolute) worst time ever. And instead of making it easier on himself he's more inclined to be arguing over fallacies.

I FORGOT TO ADD. Very important, Skittery rolls his own cigarette's but they suck. He puts too little tabacco in the wrap and it's mostly just lighting up paper so no one takes them. Bumlet's rolls his cigarette's for him without charge, but everyone knows.

me: cool doji danshi is a great series because it's funny, relatable, aesthetically pleasing, and has lovable characters who don't depend on romance and instead form bonds based on learning from each other and, in the process, gain their own self-confidence on how to live their lives because there is no one true way to "live", and maybe nobody's way is absolutely perfect, but they find peace with being happy with how they are despite having doubts if it's okay for them to just be like that
