Just kidding, I'm 3D printing it instead
Tumblr media
Unfortunately I looked up acrylic prices after I designed the shelf. It would have been over $120 of acrylic panels without shipping, and that's more than I wanted to spend given that the original cost was something like $5. Since I have an entire kallax full of printer filament, I'll be printing five mini shelves instead. Each shelf takes 25 hrs to print, so I should be done about this time next week...
Still volunteering at the library though :)

August Artist Blog (more under the cut)
For August I tried to make a vlog, not only to document my month making art, but also my attempts to overhaul my approach to making and sell art. However, I’m not experienced at making vlogs, nor do I have a quiet, dedicated space to record voiceovers. But I did post a video of me doing marker work. We’ll get to that in a bit.
Introduction
Tumblr media
First off, in case you’re new here, my name’s Antonio Tyler. I’m a webcomic creator and illustrator. I’ve been making art most my life, but started drawing comics in 2003 with my first webcomic, Synaptic Misfiring.
I drew variations of Synaptic Misfiring for a few years, got married, had kids, worked two jobs (because California). Over the last 5 years, though, I’ve been focusing more on illustration and selling products, though o want to get back into webcomics. I did a 3 episode Webtoon called Only Human, but I haven’t done a comic in a few years now.
Mobile Studio Setup
I don’t have a dedicated studio. I know a lot of artists do. But it’s not impossible to have a setup that is portable.
Tumblr media
I use a 4th generation iPad Air with 64GB and a 2nd generation Apple Pencil. I use IbisPaint X, and use the paid version. I find it’s most ideal for making comics. And it’s constantly updated. New features are added all the time.
I have an assortment of tonal markers by Tombow, and a couple of Copics.
I always carry my iPad with me, so I can work on sketches or finished art whenever or wherever. You can access IbisPaint’s cloud storage via internet if needed, but it also stores files locally. It’s great being able to draw on a lunch break, a bus ride, or at the library. Occasionally I carry a sketchbook and pens with me if I intend to do traditional art.
Rethinking websites and storefronts
A couple months back I looked into doing a website on a number of platforms, such as Wix, Squarespace, etc. While a lot of them are pretty affordable, and have good options, I don’t really use my website much. It’s mostly a hub for all my other sites and profiles.
Tumblr, having been purchased by the Wordpress folks awhile back, is really pushing itself as a website alternative, with their templates (which they always have had) and having direct sales of web address. I’m in the process of updating AntonioTyler.com while also keeping the functionality of a Tumblr page. Tumblr is notorious less functional as a mobile site or app. So choosing the right template has been a challenge.
One thing is making a Linktree/Beacons/Milkshake-style link page instead of just a text based link page. Including links to all my different store fronts.
Updating my storefronts happens to be another thing on my to do list. I have several, and they are all decentralized. I use several: Ko-fi, Threadless, INPRNT and BigCartel. Originally I was going to use BigCartel for my sole storefront, but issues with getting Stripe to work dampened those plans. And BigCartel was mostly for my international customers, since it uses Printful products. But since there was a less than enthusiastic response, I will keep all my storefronts, but make them specialty shops. Threadless will have the bulk of my products, BigCartel will be a seasonal exclusive shop, INPRNT will be my…prints, and Ko-fi will be my digital shop (though I’m toying with the idea of carrying my Printful items here).
September plans
Working on some new Wand-Slinger merch for the seasonal shop. Threadless will be getting an overhaul. The website will be wrapped up and relaunched.

fire emoji ummmmmmm traditional art
Aauaugh Ok for starters that shit is extremely hard like I actually cannot do it. I dabble in watercolor but I've tried other paints and I seriously don't know how people don't gnaw their limbs off trying to do it. If digital was not an option I would NOT be an artist. HOWEVER I do get pretty sick of hearing about expensive markers/paints because from everything I personally have learned the quality of your paper or canvas actually does matter more. Like you really don't need copics or windsor and newton paints. I had a pretty dogshit set of paints but I put more towards the paper (still not too expensive comparatively) and it came out fine for me. Plus in the modern day we have access to WAAAY nicer supplies for way less money.
ALSO. This is just me but I fucking hate trying to figure out storage for traditional art. I have five million sketchbooks in my parents' basement like genuinely two medium sized boxes of everything I drew ages 11-17 and I don't know how I am possibly ever going to sort through all of that. Does that not make traditional artists insane?? Because it makes me insane.

MARKER STORAGE UPDATE!! I don’t even think i ever shared my new cases here on tumblr, but now things are organized the way I wanted! I just put away 13 new markers (8 new on the left, 5 new copics to the right), added another tray (black) to hold my new multiliners, and moved my new acrylic paint brush markers atop my copic storage.
I kinda wanna find another storage case to put all my ink refills, but for now they’ll mostly sit under the first shelf on the desk

Been trying to get back into watercolors.
Even though I don't really have watercolor paper. LOL Actually, I think I have a pad of watercolor paper, but I'm not sure where to dig around in my room for it. Or maybe it's in storage; not sure. But either way, I've always been too anxious to be anything less than stingy with art materials. It was a real problem in painting class, when everyone kept telling me that I don't mix enough of the paint colors that I need. But I just couldn't stand the idea of throwing it out at the end of class. And even though I've switched to alcohol markers, I'm still too nervous to use expensive paper like watercolor paper. When I'm too afraid to mess up with expensive supplies, I end up drawing nothing, for months and years. Though, it is strange that I have no problem using Copic markers and other artist markers, though on cheaper paper. Maybe it's because I almost always get my markers on sale at anime/comic book conventions. Never pay $8 for one Copic marker, when convention booths will usually have them for $5 each.
Been making some notes during these past few days, while experimenting with getting back into watercolor painting:
5/12/2023. Tried to make intentionally messy, to differentiate from marker coloring. I wanted this to be obviously watercolors, to make switching from my usual markers medium, worthwhile.
5/12/2023. Still practicing watercolors, so tried doing my final linework as only pencil. Sometimes I wonder if the softness of pencil fits better with watercolors. I still want to differentiate my watercolors from my marker/ink drawings. So I tried some wet-on-wet techniques and allowed a lot of messy imperfections.
5/14/2023. I know I should have stuck to my usual Copic markers, since I was short on time. But it’s been a long time since I’ve done referential drawing, and I wanted the pencil’s ability to erase mistakes. Also, I’ve recently been experimenting with trying watercolors again. Back before markers, I primarily used watercolors. (Then again, back then I also had sketchbook paper thick enough to handle watercolors, and that’s not really the case anymore.) I may be comfortable with alcohol markers and ink pens now, but I keep wondering if something good might come of me returning to watercolor painting. Maybe it would look nice to color more organically, and allow some loose messiness, the way watercolors are often afforded. Maybe that type of style could really work for me. So I’m trying watercolors again. Today reminded me how much I love drybrush, when I use brush pens—even though I haven’t gotten the hang of setting up that technique with a paintbrush yet. So I might practice more drybrush with watercolor paintbrushes.
5/18/2023. My last watercolor drawing reminded me that I could use drybrush with watercolors, to mimic the feeling of using brushpens, which I love. So I did a lot of hatchlines, like I would do with my usual pen/ink drawings. I actually wanted to do more sharp detail, but needing lighter colors for those details necessitated more water, which made the brush tip less tapered, so those smaller details I wanted, ended up broader and messier. But didn't I recently get back into watercolors, wanting to differentiate them from my pen/ink drawings? And I determined that allowing watercolors to be messy and looser (since people usually afford/expect that from watercolors) would be how I would differentiate my watercolors from my marker drawings? Then again, I had been wanting for a long time to find a way to break out of my hyperfocus on one medium at a time. If I could switch to dip pen in the middle of a watercolor painting, maybe that will bring me closer to mixing color pencils on top of marker drawings, or mixing pastels on top of marker ink, and just mixing more mediums. I want to be able to use the mediums to achieve the effects I need in each case, but I keep unconsciously locking myself in to only one medium at a time. But if dip pens make my watercolors too precise and erases that lovely, organic, messy looseness, then what's the point of me going back to watercolors from alcohol markers? Hmmm….We'll see what happens.

FYI older art uploads in ze future
Idk how much far I go back with my uploads but like I prolly go for a bit maybe even early 2000s so lots of art uploads from way back lie ahead xd I still love most of them dearly and I think it's important to keep old art around in galleries or somewhere people can still get to it because those are where I come from, those are where my style developed from bit by bit those are where many of my OCs came from too and idk I wanna share that with people. I want you to see from where I started roughly (roughly because the really old stuff is harder for me to find I started uploading stuff to the internet when i was like.. uh 14/15, I would need to find, re-scann and also erase my deadname from a lot of stuff, bc back then I did not have a nifty signature that nobody can possible read) when I began uploading my stuff to the internet and how things just slowly but surley geared mostly towards ladies and hair and wings and details and my love for thicc lineart. Funny side note on the line art though? My very first OC artworks were made with a fountain pen from school with black ink in it and a broad tip, so my lines were naturally broad due to the nature of my pen. (which I also used for writing, in school, bc I was still in school back then and it feels like forever ago while I am writing this fuck XD) Sometime soon though I found thin liners that did not smudge with copics like my ink did so I entered the dubious zone of touch does thin lines forever, then goes back to his roots and makes it thicc. Anyway... what I'm trying to say is, I think it's nice to see an artists journey, and I love it to pieces when I can catch glimpses of peoples old art and see were they came from/started out from. So yeah imma slowly go through my stuff and bring old stuff back online. I used to have a gallery (on DA) that went all the way back almost to the beginnings but I changed accounts in 2011/12 to my new artist handle (back then in ye olden days name changes were not yet a thing on DA) and while the younger account still exists I have everything thrown into storage because fuck DA. I keep my "archive" there until they get funny ideas like deleting accounts of inactive users or whatever. But it's no longer public and like I said only goes back to 2011/12 anyway so yah. Like i said i do not know how much of the really old stuff is gonna come back online but I'd like to bring some of it back. Guess Imma go tag my art posts with the years they were made in too for filtering purposes xd But just fyi I also have a FurAffinity account were I am basically also try to do something similar and have a whole folder structure dedicated to years of creation for the very same purpose. Just in case that's more convenient for some of you but I am in no way caught up with uploads there either. Nb4 it comes up: I am currently too lazy for a personal website were I could go chronological madness. Mainly bc I know myself I would fucking take forever to just design a layout and get super anal about everything else and loose patience long before uploading anything so I am doing the responsible thing and not do that. At least not anytime soon. I have my projects planned out for 2023 already with some pockets for arttrades 'n stuff I am booked out XD

11th or December 2022
I sat on my little bean bag headphones on working away on my comic when I saw the door open it was my mum so I took a headphone off one ear
"Yeah?"
"Y/n's here" she smiled
"Oh thanks send her up" I smiled putting my headphones away and fixing myself a little bit.
Soon enough the door opened to a rather adorable sight.
She stood in her little white converses with stars drawn on, her green tights with Christmas lights printed on them twisting up her legs, a little black dress with gingerbread men on it and a bit of blue and silver tinsel to bundle her neon purple hair
"Hello!"
"Hi y/n" I smiled
"You are not festive" she says sitting beside me on the other beanbag giving my arm a poke
"Knowone I'd as festive as you sweetheart. You are the poster child for Christmas"
"Still" she pouts
"You look beautiful sweetheart. What did you pop over for I thought you'd be with your family thought till new year?"
"I will but I wanted to come see you before and give you your present and so I don't miss you too bad"
"Aww that's sweet. I'm going to miss you too but it'll only be a week or so and we'll still text I'm sure"
"Well I wanted to visit"
"Alright, you want your present?"
"Yes please"
"Alright, eyes shut" I told her so she closed her eyes, I got up putting my work away and got the bag from under my bed "here you go"
"Yay! Thank you ducky" she smiled giving my cheek a kiss as she took the bag I smiled and watched her open her little card "aww I love you too" she smiled before getting to work on her presents "ooooohh it's beautiful" she Cooes holding the dress to her body letting it sparkle
"I thought good for around the holidays or just when you wanna be sparkly"
"It's lovely" she smiled giving me a kiss "ohh and recipient?"
"I put it in just incase I brought the wrong size."
"Thoughtful" she giggled before getting her next one "oohh just the colours I wanted!" She smiled getting the little make up set out
"I can take a hint sweetheart you've been talking about it for months"
"And one more small one" she giggled opening it up "oh? A box"
"Yes. A box for you to put the new fantastic lands game in when it comes out in January. I am going to buy it for you and I have it pre-ordered but they pushed the release date back so"
"Awww thank you ducky" she smiled giving me a kiss "thank you for my lovely gifts"
"Your welcome sweetheart. Could I maybe have mine now?'
"Of course. I'm afraid it's only one this year but I think you'll really like it" she smiled handing over the bag, I opened the little Christmas card of a robin seeing all the millions of kisses she put in it "aww I love you too sweetheart, and I'd like my one billion kisses please"
"They are in installments" she smiled giving me about five kisses
"Thank you" I smiled pulling the large box from the bag I pondered for a moment what it could be but pulled the paper off revealing "a box?'
"Open the box"
"Okay" I laughed and as I did I almost fainted "oh my god! Are these real?"
"Yes"
"But - but there" I began stuttering in shock at the whole box of copic art markers in all various colours and sizes
"I know that's why it's on big present this year" she smiled "it even has the little storage thing to keep them all in"
"Holy fuck. This is the best gift ever! I have like two of them because they are so good but so expensive I can't believe you brought these for me!" I smiled hugging her tightly unable to stop actual tears "I love you so much!'
"I love you too" she smiled
"I need to get you more presents"
"What? Why?'
"This is not equal"
"It's alright Donald I don't mind I love my presents and I'm just happy your happy"
"No you don't understand I would give you my soul if I knew how and even then that's not enough for this!"
"I'm just happy you like it"
"I do I love It this Is the best gift ever. I love you I love you I love you!"
"I love you too. You want to give them a try?"
"I'm going to unpack them all into the storage I need to look at each and every one of them" I told her slowly pulling them out one by one "how many are in here?"
"Almost all of them or all I could find on their website"
"All of them! How'd how- I may actually faint." I told her "whatever you want for the rest of our lives tell me I will get it for you!"
"Anything?'
"Anything! Forever!'
"Well I'd like a trip to get my favourite take away?"
"Done! As soon as I sort these we will go and I will buy you anything you want."
"You don't have to -"
"Yes I do. You do not understand how happy this makes me. I love you so much and I'll never be able to fully repay you for this"
"Awww in sure you will so long as you use them and appreciate them that's fine"
"I will I'll use them everyday and appreciate every single one, whenever I draw I shall think of you sweetheart"

Hello there! I go by many different names but you can call me TJ or Copic, and this is my Furby sideblog! My main is @enderpearlgurl13 and any likes or replies will come from there!
-I'm 22 and go by they/it/furb (link to furbyself pronouns guide here!)
-I'm the co-host of a system, and this blog was made by our resident Furby enthusiast Way-Loh/Emmet (same pronouns)! Furb and I both run this blog, and sometimes other sysmates join in
-We are white, autistic, and physically disabled among other things. Our activity tends to be sporadic due to our health
-While this blog started out as Furby-centric, it's since expanded to be a general plush and bot blog
-I have over 40 Furbies (not including the McDonald's or Burger King ones because most of those are in storage and I have no clue how many I actually have), most of which are the classic 98 models! I started with two from my grandma and then it snowballed from there
-Furbies are a special interest of mine, and I enjoy studying the different factory codes and the mechanisms! If you have any questions I can certainly try to help! (Disclaimer: I have limited knowledge in programming and circuitry at the moment, so any technical questions might stump me. I am learning more though!)
-I do swear and make inappropriate jokes on occasion, but for the most part this blog is SFW!
-I can and will ramble in the tags, and I'll often ask questions about something that caught my eye (usually related to customizations). Sometimes, though, I don't have anything to say that isn't repetitive or I struggle with my words so I won't leave any comments in the tags. I'm not doing it with any malicious intent!
-I try to give image descriptions for all of my photos, if I miss one tell me and I'll write it up as soon as I can!
Full DNI under the readmore, but overall if you're still following me then you're alright! Until next time!
💤Kah way-loh koh-koh...💤
❌Boo toh-loo❌
I check the blogs of my followers and block anyone that makes me uncomfortable, but for the most part I don't want you interacting with me if you fit the following criteria:
-Are in general a bigot (including but not limited to racism, antisemitism, homophobic, transphobic, fatphobic, against neopronouns and xenogenders, etc.)
-Are into age or pet regression as a kink (non-sexual regression is perfectly fine)
-Proshipper (abusive and/or incestuous ships, "fiction doesn't affect reality", romanticizes triggering topics, that sort of deal)
-Joke about destroying Furbies, hate on oddbody and long Furbies, seriously believe Furbies are demonic/possessed/evil (why are you even here?)
If I interact with someone who violates my DNI it's very much an accident or I wasn't aware; though I do try to watch who I talk to, mistakes do happen! Let me know via DMs (with solid proof if I ask) and I'll sort it out!

Finally got storage for my markers (they wouldn't fit the plaid box anymore), just waiting on my actual shelf to arrive. Then I can finally tackle the clutter on my craft table and desk.
Sad that work quit carrying PrismaColor markers last year and now Copic Markers this year.
They want to eliminate an aisle per department (9 in all) so that they can have more room for Christmas 😢 and stupid town okayed more stores in the already getting congested city area, one store including a Michael's as if we need another crafting store... With if we do cut our crafts, people will probably flock to them out of necessity. However before Goldsboro got their HL, people literally drove 30-45 minutes just so they DID NOT go their own Michael's 🤷 so who knows... Future keeps looking more and more grim...
Co-workers are talking of how some may not have a department anymore with the change despite we're already running bare minimum.

My partner said I had a lot of markers so now I'm volunteering at the library
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tend to go on a lot of creative adventures because of a small prompt (like spending 15+ hrs on Unity tutorials because I want to pet capybaras). This is another example of something that went from small project to an Endeavor™.
Partner buys coloring book
Partner doesn't have any coloring tools, so I lend them my markers
Partner comments, "Wow, you have a lot of markers"
This reminds met that I've been meaning to rebuild the organization shelf I made from dollar store foamcore back in college.
Also remember my library has a laser cutter.
Build the shelf in Rhino; it is designed to slot together using 1/8" acrylic or plywood sheets and a little adhesive.
Look up the library laser cutter and learn my shelf is bigger than the bed
Redesign the shelf to fit the smaller bed
Turn shelf into cut files.
Feel some level of remorse over just how much plastic this is going to use.
Go to schedule a laser cutting appointment and learn there is one (1) volunteer shift in the next three months where it will be available, and it's when I'll be traveling out of town.
Google local laser cutting services and decide it's not worth the added cost.
Contact the library to volunteer for laser cutting shifts because that is the only way I can access it in the near-ish future.
Assuming they have shifts that fit my schedule, I will be a volunteer at the library! I used to spend hours working in the maker space and I was one of the volunteers who helped create it several years ago. I had been meaning to find a low-key social engagement and this fits the bill! Also, I will get a snazzy marker shelf out of it :)
The shelf might look basic, but there's actually quite a bit of detail in the design. I'll write it up when I when I put everything together.

Entry 80 - Copic Sketch or Ciao markers?
Hi all, after browsing around for some extra markers I thought about writing a post about sketch vs ciao markers. I first used Copic markers (the originals) back in 2010 so thought it might be a good idea to add a quick post! After using sketch and ciao’s for awhile I personally think the sketch markers are better. I like how they feel when you hold them, they store more ink and the caps are much better compared to the ciao’s. I have ruined quite a few nibs after not being careful when placing the lid back on the ciao markers.
The markers themselves are definitely not cheap but I would say they are very good. I think its better to save your money for copic sketches. I have purchased a mix of new and preowned which has helped cut down the costs a lot! Just be wary of buying used though, as you aren’t as sure about the age, quantity of inks and storage conditions. So expect to buy some refills or nibs!
Please note that my opinion is coming from a hobbyist! 🙂
