oh the broadway world review of summer stock (a) loved it as much or more than anyone (b) has as much or more info than anyone and (c) generally has the most vivacity thus far
Summer Stock made its world premiere at The Goodspeed Opera House to a most deserving enthusiastic standing ovation. Based on the 1950 MGM film starring Hollywood legends Judy Garland and Gene Kelly, Summer Stock is a spectacular production with phenomenal dancing, feel-good music, and a sweet story, all modernized for today’s audiences.
Audiences will recognize and love hearing classic songs by Irving Berlin and from The Great American Songbook, including “Happy Days are Here Again”, “Accentuate the Positive”, “I’m Always Chasing Rainbows”, “It’s Only a Paper Moon”, “Me and My Shadow”, “Red Hot Mamma”, “’Til We Meet Again", and “You Wonderful You”. Summer Stock’s writer, Cheri Steinkellner, takes the original film story to a whole new level that both contemporary and classic theater goers will absolutely adore. Steinkellner provides additional lyrics to upgrade the story to first class. It’s hard to believe that she “got the call” to write Summer Stock in October, completed the workshop draft by March, and had the rehearsal draft ready by June for a July opening. Steinkellner clearly works well under pressure - Summer Stock is a diamond.
In the Writer’s Notes, Steinkellner elaborates on the restrictions of bringing the film to stage (like how heavy farm machinery wouldn’t fit up on the Goodspeed stage) and how she tackled answering the many questions that the original film glossed over: “Why is a Shakespearean matinee idol starring in a musical in a barn? What happens when you make show-people wake up at sunrise to muck out the stalls?” and more. She repositioned and repurposed the film’s original songs like “Howdy Neighbor” and “Dig for Your Dinner”, so the classic elements that film fans are looking for are still there - only, frankly, much much better. Lastly, she addresses the challenge of “crafting a [contemporary] story to support a diverse cast of characters with intention, authenticity, and care.” Steinkellner rose to the challenge, knocked it out of the park, and created a great musical in record time.
The story is simple and sweet. Set just after World War II, we meet Jane Falbury (Danielle Wade), a doting daughter working the family farm with her father, Lt. Henry “Pop” Falbury (Stephen Lee Anderson). The Falbury Farm is in trouble thanks to the devious and ambitious Margaret Wingate (Veanne Cox), who has grand aims for a monopoly over the Connecticut River Valley. Scheming with her naive son, Orville (Will Roland), they will stop at nothing to own the farm. Meanwhile, Jane’s showgirl sister, Gloria (Arianna Rosario), has moved to The Big Apple to make it on Broadway. She wins a spot in the chorus line of Joe Ross’ (Corbin Bleu) brand new show. With his sidekick and music director, Phil Filmore (Gilbert L. Bailey II) in tow and a Shakespearean star, Montgomery Leach, ready to take center stage, they hit a snag when they lose their rehearsal space. Gloria suggests uprooting the show to rehearse in her family’s barn. Jane, who is fresh out of farm hands, reluctantly agrees to let the actors stay in exchange for earning their keep. The company’s tight harmonies might not charm Jane at first, but they certainly had us swooning. I won’t spoil the entire plot, but will say that hilarity ensues, hearts flutter, dreams are realized, and it’s wonderful.
When I first heard about Summer Stock, I cynically thought that it felt too familiar. The show is set on a Connecticut farm whose owners have fallen on hard times and risk losing their livelihood. They turn to their Broadway friends, who are amidst the usual uphill battle of making it big in show business, and agree to put on a brand new production in the barn to raise funds to save the farm. It’s based on the film of the same name, features music by Irving Berlin, and includes incredible tap numbers, and spotlights America’s sweetheart Corbin Bleu. Hearing that alone, I’d think this was a copy/paste of Tony Award-nominated Holiday Inn: The New Irving Berlin Musical, which opened at The Goodspeed in 2014 and went to Broadway in 2016. We’ve seen a number of Irving Berlin musicals, including White Christmas, and the most recent Broadway production Nice Work if You Can Get It, starring Kelli O’Hara and Matthew Broderick. So, what more is there to add to this Broadway subgenre? If you’d asked me before, I would argue there’s “Nothing More to Say”. I was very wrong. Summer Stock raises the bar with phenomenal choreography, clever storytelling and humor, beautiful orchestrations, and unparalleled performers.
Speaking of unparalleled performers, the cast is perfection. There’s not a single throwaway line or character. They’re all exquisite gems and I’m running out of words to compliment them all. The “city mice” dancers and ensemble features Erika Amato, Hannah Balagot, DeShawn Bowens, Ronnie S. Bowman Jr., Emily Kelly, Francesca Mancuso, Tommy Martinez, Corinne Munsch, Gregory North, Kaylee Olson, Jack Sippel, and Cayel Tregeagle. Danielle Wade sweetly croons just like Judy Garland and swept audiences off their feet. As I left the theater, I overheard two ladies praising Wade for her stupendous performance, saying it was perfect likeness of Garland, yet even more meaningful. Arianna Rosario, as the sugary sweet sister, is absolutely delightful. Stephen Lee Anderson, as  the veteran and father, tugs our heart strings. Gilbert L. Bailey II and Will Roland had the crowd roaring with laughter as the feisty music director and innocent corporate heir. Veanne Cox, as the melodramatic mother and CEO of Wingate Agricultural Corporate, had the crowd roaring with laughter from the moment she spoke her first line. Not to be outdone, J. Anthony Crane, as the over-the-top Shakespearean star, brought down the house with his entrance alone. Together, Cox and Crane generate instant heat, which is especially appropriate since they rock the stage with Red Hot Mamma. The cheeky, interspersed Shakespearean innuendo is fast-paced, clever, and had the audience hooting and hollering. I would see the show again for this duo.
Last, but far from least, Corbin Bleu, as the show’s director, gives the performance of a lifetime. Bleu radiates pure joy and leads with heart, inviting his scene partners to shine with him. Audiences instantly fell in love with his gorgeous, velvety voice, and, understandably, swooned. Bleu previously won the Chita Rivera Award for Outstanding Male Dancing in a Broadway Show for his portrayal in Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn, and his transcendent tapping in Summer Stock shows he’s not stopping there. Bleu’s dancing is out of this world! You can’t miss his charming and virtuosic spin on Gene Kelly’s iconic solo dance, featuring the world’s most unexpected dance partner. Corbin Bleu is a national treasure.
The 8-piece orchestra, lead by Goodspeed’s resident music director Adam Souza, performs the remarkable orchestrations, by Doug Besterman, beautifully. The score is demanding, but the musicians don’t let us see them sweat. As much as I’m gushing, I would recommend shifting the show to one hour earlier and give it a little trim. Not a haircutter’s inch, but a discreet tidy-up. As it turns out, I was in slight agreement with the obnoxious subscribers behind me, who disrupted a precious moment to voice their complaints, “This is two hours and forty minutes? Way too long!” I nearly turned to fisticuffs in defense of this phenomenal cast, but chose to deliver an icy, yet effective, glare. I digress, but Goodspeed subscribers are truly spoiled with top-rate performers straight from the Broadway stage. In any case, we could use a couple more developmental scenes to fully flesh out the plot, and I’d be willing to sacrifice by shaving a bit off some of the longer dance numbers (“Everybody Step” and “Dig For Your Dinner”) and songs. (Not too much! Just an inch! And don’t dare recast any characters!)
That isn’t to say that the dance performances weren’t epic: Summer Stock has the best dancing I have ever seen, hands down. The virtuosic ensemble, lovingly called “city mice”, perfectly deliver wildly acrobatic displays all with impossibly high-energy and make it look easy. Director and choreographer, Donna Feore, has made an unforgettable, magnificent Goodspeed debut. Feore makes use of every inch of the stage, making it feel larger than life, and her attention to detail is unsurpassed. The choreography is out of this world! Wilson Chin, scenic designer, set the stage beautifully. The Technicolor New England farm-turned-theater is framed with classic red-sided barn, delicate florals climbing the walls, and hurricane lanterns lovingly displayed as accent pieces. Summer Stock is Goodspeed’s best original production ever. The 12, which opens next, has very big shoes to fill. Summer Stock has its eyes set on Broadway. Does Summer Stock deserve a Broadway run? Absolutely. In this critic’s opinion, it couldn’t get there soon enough.  Perhaps my favorite aspect of the production were the many comedic theater flourishes. Broadway audiences will cry with laughter when they watch the city mice (actors) learn how to play the part of farmhands: “What is the farmer’s motivation?” “E-I, E-I!” Frankly, I want an original cast album yesterday. Finally, when it opens on Broadway, you’ll wish you had seen it at The Goodspeed first.

Dozens of mothers and children gathered at Guernsey’s Premier Inn to show solidarity with a mother who posted on social media that she was asked not to breastfeed there.
The meeting was organised after Kelly Corbin said she was asked by a member of hotel staff to feed her baby “out of the way of the public” as “the residents won’t like it”.
Ms Corbin posted about her experience on social media, writing that she felt “humiliated”.
Premier Inn said: “We’re sorry for the confusion between one of our team members and Ms Corbin in our Guernsey hotel and we wish to apologise to her."
Ms Corbin wrote on Facebook after the incident on Sunday that she left the Premier Inn restaurant at Admiral Park in tears and fed her baby in her car after being asked to move by a member of staff.
Fellow mother Rebecca Greening organised the protest by sharing the post and asking “breastfeeding mothers past, present and future” to show the woman was "not alone”.
About 30 women and children met at the Premier Inn on Monday and those with hungry babies breastfed them in the restaurant.
Premier Inn provided free teas, coffees and snacks to the mothers.
During the protest, one woman described the behaviour of staff as “absolutely lovely".
A spokesperson for Premier Inn said, “Breastfeeding mothers are wholeheartedly welcome in all our sites across the UK.
“We’re proud to be a family-friendly business and it’s really important to us that all our guests including new mums and their babies have a relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable experience when they stay, enjoy a coffee or dine with us."
They said they had "reached out to speak to" Ms Corbin and "hope to welcome her back soon”.

So despite spending weeks working on these tarot-themed cards for @legendlarkpod, I forgot to take my own pictures before I mailed them! Luckily Errol is a gentleman and scholar who documented them after they arrived, so thank you, Postmaster. Sadly, Tumblr is unhappy with the lovely video footage Errol took to show that many of these cards are shiny, so just take my word for it: I used a lot of metallic and shimmery paints!
Arcana:
Slake: Temperance
Kai: Death
Maeri: The Star
Fran: The Magician
Faelen: The Hanged Man
Corbin: Judgement
Did it take me another 2 months to finally post these on social media? Yes. Working in healthcare in the US is a nightmare and I stopped being a human being for a hot minute!
Anyway, go listen to LegendLark's podcast! Can't recommend it enough!

I’VE GOT YOUR BACK
Alex León is a well know name in the independent wrestling scene, having earned the nickname The Prophecy of Professional Wrestling. Alex and Seth have been married for three years but never confirmed their relationship with the public so when Baron Corbin started bad mouthing his wife Seth couldn’t hold back, Alex watching from afar realised the true intentions of ‘the sassy southern belle’ and finally found her place in the WWE.
Tumblr media
January 6th 2019 -
Nashville Tennessee
“Thank you Alex! Thank you Alex! Thank you Alex!” Alex León is making her final walk around the ringside applauding, having just dropped the title to Taya Valkyrie in a gruelling match at Impact Wrestling Homecoming.
“An emotional Alex León making her final rounds here at Impact. This women is the definition of what it means to be an Impact Knockouts Champion, she has followed through with her promise and cemented her legacy in this company but she had a Prophecy to for fill somewhere else and we wish her the best of luck!” the commentary team announce.
Many rumours have spread about Alexandria not renewing her contract, having been in the company since 2013 she felt the need for a change.
With tears welling in her eyes, taking one final bow the programme closes with the last walk for Alex León backstage.
————————
Alexandria after taking her leave from Impact has been sending sometime at home, the days have been lonely without her husband and no wrestling as a distraction so like many people social media had taken up the majority of her time.
Pointlessly scrolling through twitter an article catches her attention:
‘Baron Corbin Chooses Lacey Evans As Guest Referee, Monday Night Raw Higlights 06/17/19’
León glances down at her wedding ring with a subtle look of confidence, exiting twitter she opens a contact typing out only one sentence…
I’ve got your back.
———
Wednesday 19th of June 2019
week of Stomping grounds
Stepping out of the car, Alex looks up to meet the deep brown eyes of her husband. A warm hand wraps it’s self around her waist pulling her into a loving embrace.
“Mrs Lopez i have missed you so much.” is the phrase that Alexandria feels rumble in her husbands chest, her bottom lip quivers knowing this reunion is months in the making.
“I can’t do this anymore, the distance i mean. I can’t keep waking up alone in bed. Practically me not working is a problem and i love my job i really do but i can’t keep being so far away from you, i just can’t do it. I need you” Alex let’s out a chocked sob as she repeats the words she had been dwelling on for the duration on the drive.
Instinctively Colby glanced down, his eyes drowning in sympathy, he knows the feeling. Lifting his hand to wipe away a stray tear.
“Stay here then baby, stay with me. I need you too, more then i could ever express in words. Stay here and we can make sure your work is valued for the talent you showcase, i’ll make sure nothing goes wrong” Colby pleads knowing they had to have this conversation, if Lexi retires then the idea would be completely out of the window…
———
Saturday June 23rd 2019
Tacoma Dome - Tacoma, Washington.
Lacey evans stood face to face with a very frustrated Seth Rollins, she had been changing and bending rules in Corbin’s favour and it was obvious it was getting to him. Suddenly Rollins’ face is flying left, she had slapped him!
“omg.. and here’s Baron Corbin trying to take advantage!” Spinning Seth around Baron tried to capitalise on the distraction only to meet a blow to his jaw leaving his slumped on the ropes for support.
“OH! A LOW BLOW BY THE OFFICIAL!”
The beginning beats of ‘Prophecy by Queensryche’ hits the arenas speakers, the crowd arrupts with cheers as a familiar red head charges down the ramp.
“IS IT? IT IS, COREY ITS ALEX LÈON THE FORMER IMAPCT KNOCKOUTS CHAMPION! SHES HERE IN THE WWE!”
“Why is Alex Lèon here? she isn’t part of this match?” Corey announces beside a very happy Renee Young and Micheal Cole.
Sliding into the ring Alex pounces on Lacey Evans throwing combinations of punches and slaps to the blonde.
“ALEX LÈON IS ASSAULTING EVANS, ALEX LÈON IS TAKING OUT THE OFFICIAL! ITS NO DISQUALIFICATION, ALEX CAN DO WHATEVER THE HELL SHE WANTS TO DO!”
Alex and Lacey take the brawl outside of the ring, the sassy southern belle is sprawled out on the floor after being in the receiving end of a ‘final chapter’ (an exploder suplex) when officials and security try to tear Lèon from Evans.
Whilst in the firm grip of many security men, Alexandria looks though the ropes to see her husband of three years reverse an ‘end of days’ to hit a stomp.
1. 2. 3.
“SETH ROLLINS RETAINS WITH THE HELP OF A DEBUTING ALEX LÈON! WHAT A MOMENT!”
The wife joins her husband in the ring, raising his arm in victory. Seth couldn’t wait any longer, wrapping his arms around her waist he lifts his spouse into the air placing a delicate kiss on her lips. Whispers can be seen being shared between the couple as the crowd explodes with cheers.
“you did good baby, you did so good”
“Sweetheart, i told you i got you’re back.”

Season 3 Crowdfund - 50% Funded, 13 Days to Go!
Tumblr media
We've still got our noses to the crowdfund grindstone over at True Tales of the Illuminati HQ. We've now hit 50% funded, which is amazing! But of course we do still have 50% left to go, and every night our chief producer looks at that little bar on the crowdfund and cartoonishly mops his brow.
Why are tiny blue cell-shaded drops appearing on his forehead, you ask? Because we have only 13 remaining days to raise a little over 4k for our stupidly ambitious 5-episode season two.
We're so excited to bring another season of this (twice audioverse finalist!) show to you, our favorite yet, and bring it to life with the help of our incredible voice actors. Who, by the way, your can get to say whatever you want* as one of our backer tiers. Note that our limited-backer tiers for those of you who were wise enough not to invest in bitcoin are still completely untaken, including the chance to pick a minisode for our next season's crowdfund(you can even pitch one for our consideration!)
Tumblr media
If you can't back, we'd love if you shared on social media! Our backer count spikes every time we pop up on people's feeds, so it really does make a difference. We live in a hell future where our success or failure is determined by complex marketing algorithms! Just like the Illuminati envisioned. Or as the motto goes, "Obey the algorithm and you'll be in heaven!" I guess we should just be proud they managed a slant-rhyme
Our next milestone is at $6k, when we’ll be releasing the minisode Basket Case, which sees Beck and co go up against the Druids and their many nefarious stone calendars. It also features another guest, our good friend Taqi Nazeer as High Druid Corbin. You may recognize Taqi as the voice of mechanical mage Eisen from fellow historical adventure-comedy The Kingmaker Histories.
After that we’ll have one more at the final goal of $9k, written and starring Wooden Overcoats’ own Tom Crowley! That’s right, we’ve got guest stars for days!
Tumblr media
If you back us at $5 or more, we guarantee that regardless of the money we raise, after the crowdfund closes you’ll get to listen to all of the minisodes that we’ve produced. But if we don't make it to our funding goal, then only backers will get to listen to the full complement of the minisodes that we’ve prepared for this crowdfund, and all of the rest of you will have to live a twisted half-life without the sensual tones of Tom Crowley saying classy, poetic words in British English like "beastial mentality" and "phantom dolphin". We wouldn’t wish that on anyone!
So, if you’ve read this far and we haven’t completely lost you with talk of druids and dolphins, then please, please head on over to truetalesteam.com/crowdfund and pledge today.

Found Family Tournament Round 1 Part 13 Group 61
Propaganda and further pictures under the cut
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nightchord25: Kanade Yoisaki, Mafuyu Asahina, Mizuki Akiyama & Ena Shinonome
Wayfarer's Crew: Rosemary, Ashby, Sissix, Jenks, Lovey, Corbin, Dr. Chef, Ohan
Submissions are still open!
Nightchord25:
Usually in Project Sekai, I don’t really have any people I ship as a polycule,..well except Nightchord25. And there’s good reason for that too because there bonds with each other is just so…mwah. But anyways, why are they found family you may ask? Well they’re 4 mentally ill teenagers so plenty hurt and comfort there. There’s Kanade Yoisaki a girl who’s mom died at a young age and father is in the hospital because of stress. Kanade blames herself for her father’s hospital trip and compensates for it developing a savior complex, becoming a hikikomori who creates music in an attempt to “save people.” Her lifestyle is quite unhealthy as she spends most of her time creating music neglecting food and sleep. Next, Mafuyu Asahina the lyricist and arranger who has a “good girl” facade but in reality is unhappy and empty as she lacks an identity due to her mother’s manipulative behavior causing her to be a people pleaser. She’s spent her whole life pleasing others that she’s forgotten her own self, that she wants to be when she grows up? Well her parents want her to become a doctor but she truly doesn’t know. Thirdly is Mizuki Akiyama, the video editor. Despite Mizuki’s cheerful and peppy demeanor which contrast the other characters, Mizuki is an incredibly lonely person and is ostracized at school. This is because Mizuki is heavily implied to be biologically male despite dressing in feminine clothes. There’s a lot of debate on Mizuki’s gender identity but one thing for sure is that because of Mizuki’s looks, the students around them think of Mizuki as weird and strange. Lastly but not least is Ena Shinonome, the artist, Ena’s a very blunt person with a bit of a tsundere personality. Despite her outgoing demeanor she is also surprise, surprise, depressed. Ena has a social media account to that’s quite popular but what really matters to her more is her art account which barely gets any followers. Ena is an aspiring artist, wanting to become professional. But she struggles with her lack of talent as well as her inferiority complex because of her dad brutally telling her that she can’t make it in the art world and that she has no talent for it. Which…while I get what he’s trying to say as he is also an artist,..that isn’t exactly the best thing for him to do.Now that I’ve introduced you the cast, what’s there relationship like? Kanade has a special bond with Mafuyu as when Kanade and the others discovered that Mafuyu’s happy mask was a hoax and in reality she’s lost all hope and is empty, Kanade vows to help her find her true self which at first by creating more songs. Mafuyu denies the help but eventually gives in. Throughout the story Kanade learns to understand Mafuyu more and aaahh we see Mafuyu start to crack a smile every once in a while because of Kanade’s music. Kanade has also helped Ena by giving her encouragement with her art as Kanade genuinely likes Ena’s art and Kanade is the only person who Ena never bickers with. Mizuki has also helped out Kanade alot with them pushing Kanade out of her shell and making her go to places more. Mizuki finds comfort in n25 as they’re Mizuki’s only friends which why it hurts them so much as they fear that they will leave Mizuki if they found out their secret. In this way, Mafuyu and Mizuki foil eachother with Mafuyu being her true self with Nightchord meanwhile Mizuki hides their secret from Nightchord cuz of their fear of possible backlash. Both of them out on a facade one way or another. Ena ended up sensing that Mizuki was hiding something and in the end tells Mizuki that she’ll be waiting as long as Mizuki wants to tell their secret one day which makes Mizuki feel even more guilty. Now Ena’s relationship with the Mafuyu. At first Ena doesn’t understand Mafuyu. She doesn’t understand why she’d wanna disappear when Mafuyu is so talented which is something that she wants. While they definitely didn’t get along in the beginning slowly but surely they started understanding n being friends<33. There’s probably more I missed but I’m sooo tired lmfao
Wayfarer's Crew:
Sorry, I got no propaganda for them yet :(

“Shitshitshit!” I mumbled to myself as I ran around my home after I received Cat’s text. I somehow had completely forgotten that Priest had agreed to do a demonstration on… sensual choking. Today. In a few minutes from now.
Shit.
Like Drew, Damian was also well respected within the BDSM and Kink scene. Come to think of it, everyone who walked through the doors of Liberacion was well-known and respected for some reason or another. We made sure to provide the best of the best when it came to knowledge, safety, and fun.
And Liberacion was about to have one of the best of the best lecturing in like… 30 minutes.
Everyone at the club swore that Damian and I had something going on. But truthfully… he was one of the most famous Dominants in the scene. He was a Dom through and through, so there was absolutely no way there’d ever be anything between us.
No matter how much of an absolute dream he was…
Our relationship was playful and flirty at most but nothing more. And despite our mutual friends pushing for more, I was more than happy for it to stay that way.
No way in hell was I going to put myself in such a vulnerable position as a Submissive ever again. Absolutely not. Even if…
Even if Damian’s presence alone made me wanna fall to my knees and his deep baritone voice made me wanna fold like a fuckin’ flip phone to his every whim.
Shaking myself out of my thoughts, I started to look for an outfit to wear to work. I had to physically stop myself from going overboard with getting dolled up and instead, I picked out my usual comfortable jeans along with a turquoise hoodie and a white t-shirt underneath.
Tumblr media
Again, I put on one coat of mascara with a light layer of baby pink gloss, paired with dainty diamond earrings and I slipped an equally dainty silver heart-shaped ring onto my middle finger before I put on some black Vans and made my way to work.
Here goes nothing…
~~
“We have a problem…” Cat said the moment I walked through the doors of Liberacion.
That’s not what I like to hear. Ever. But especially not on a day filled with lectures and demos.
“What’s wrong?- Hola, papito…” I purred as I shifted my eyes towards Damian, letting them trail over his statuesque body appreciatively. I forgot about Cat completely as Damian came over to take my hand in his and he gave me a kiss on the cheek as a greeting.
“Hola, Mamita.” Damian replied. He wore a tight grey tshirt, some dark wash jeans, thin-rimmed glasses, and a playful smirk on his face that had me blushing from head to toe.
Cat snapped us both back to reality with a pointed clearing of her throat and we focused on her once again.
“Like I said, we have a problem. Rhea was going to help with Damian’s lecture today, but she got called in to do some media stuff for WWE. And there’s literally no one else who can fill in. Everyone’s got something going on or they’ve got multiple demos-“
“I can fill in for Rhea.” I replied without thinking. My eyes widened slightly when I registered my own words, but it was too late.
“What.” Damian and Cat said. They both didn’t know a lot about what my ex-husband Jason had put me through. But they knew enough to be left completely dumbfounded at my sudden enthusiasm to put myself in such a position, even if it was just a demo.
“Yeah! I don’t mind. I mean I’d have to move some things around in my schedule, but it’s no biggie.” I smiled confidently at them both, partly to convince them and partly to convince myself that this was gonna be a piece of cake.
What the fuck did I just get myself into?...
~~
I took about 5 minutes to collect myself in my office after I agreed to do this demo.
What the fuck was I thinking?!
There was no way I could get through this… there was no way I’d get through this without thinking about-
There was a knock at my office door.
“Harp? Muñeca, can I come in?” Damian’s silky deep voice called from the outside of my office.
“I’ll be out in a sec.” I replied, my voice sounding a bit frazzled to my own ears.
“…Alright.” I heard Damian sigh deeply before his footsteps got farther and farther away.
I didn’t want him or anyone to see me on the verge of a panic attack. What good would that do?
‘Get it together, Harper Marie. You have a job to do and you’re gonna do it. Get it together.” I mumbled to myself until the tremors in my hands stopped, and I was more present. Then I plastered a smile on my face and met up with Damian and everyone for the demo.
My legs threatened to buckle underneath me as Damian introduced us both to the class and he started to give a rundown of the basics of sensual choking. He told the students that he’d give a bit of a q&a at the end of the class if they had any doubts or concerns.
Luckily my job as his “assistant” was mostly to stand there and look pretty. If I were the one giving this class, I don’t know if words would come easy.
Especially once Damian’s hands gently slid around my throat. Up until that point I had completely tuned out from the class for my own sanity and embarrassingly, I flinched at the soft skin-to-skin contact around my neck.
“What’s the matter? You scared of me?” Damian joked, trying to lighten the mood and I was so grateful for it. For him. For him and his comforting touch and warm gaze silently coaxing me to relax. A few people in the classroom chuckled as I blushed and let out a soft giggle, not meeting Damian’s eyes for a moment.
He wasn’t Jason. Not even close. My heart knew that even though my mind couldn’t reconcile it for a few seconds.
I’m not sure what the hell was in the air, but I let myself fully relax and I let Damian’s good-natured humor wash over me until I was joking right back. I hadn’t felt that safe in what felt like forever.
Damian was a friend, sure. And we were doing nothing but a demonstration. But this felt… entirely different.
Charged. Energetic. Magnetic… terrifying yet I had never felt safer.
“How I’m doing this right now- that’s not what you wanna do. You can, but just be mindful that that’s how unfortunate accidents can happen. You wanna make your partner come, you don’t wanna murder them.” Damian droned on, again causing a peal of laughter amongst the class and myself.
“Unless they’re into that.” I quipped, causing even more laughter. Damian turned to me with his brows raised in slight surprise and his eyes lit up with that ever-present playfulness that always seemed to be there whenever we were in a room together.
“Or unless you’ve got a little brat that you need to set straight. You can just-“Damian paused his words to fully wrap his hands around my throat. Firmly. And he gave me a slight jostle, bringing me closer to him til we stood almost chest-to-chest, making me gasp softly.
Oh, I was gone by then. And I knew it. He knew it too if the slight twitch of a smirk was anything to go by.
“But not too hard, of course. All ways of choking can be dangerous, but this one especially is. The windpipe is right in the middle of the throat so you can cause serious damage if you’re not careful or you don’t know what you’re doing… but if this is something your partner wants- always, always communicate. You should be doing that anyway, but like I said, this is especially dangerous… Hand signals are a great way to communicate if need be. But talk beforehand, see what they’re comfortable both of you are comfortable with and for how long.”
Damian suddenly stood behind me and slowly wrapped both his large hands on either side of my throat and I swore I was floating onto another fuckin planet. Forcing myself to come back down from that floaty space that felt cozy yet terrifying all at once, took every inch of my will.
“This is much safer. Your fingers are nowhere near the windpipe, but you can still apply enough pressure to make it pleasurable without doing significant damage. But again, communicate… personally, this is one of my favorites ways of doing it.” I heard the smirk in his voice and face heated up even as my mouth moved of its own accord.
“Is it, Sir?... hm. Ya learn somethin’ new every day, huh?” I smirked at the students, and I heard a few of them chuckle and giggle in response.
Instead of answering my question, I was shocked into silence as Damian gave me another gentle yet firm jostle, pressing our lower bodies flush together.
“You can get some nice leverage too, if you catch my drift.” His velvety voice went husky, somehow impossibly deeper than usual and I felt my skin burn with arousal.
God it must be about 200 degrees in this room right now. It had to be. I even caught some of the students blushing every so often.
“Behave.” Damian whispered in my ear, and the urge to be combative almost suffocated me.
What the fuck was wrong with me? Not even a few minutes ago I was thisclose to puking my guts out with anxiety at the prospect of being at someone else’s mercy- no matter that it was just a demo and not a full-on scene. And now I was acting like a brat who wanted to poke and poke and poke until-… until what?
I didn’t wanna think too hard about that answer. But… this was fun.
But it was over way too quickly for my liking.
Before I knew it, Damian was doing a final q&a with the students, and I was on my way back to my office to do make some phonecalls.
But I was walking on legs that felt like they were made of play-doh.
Tammie quickly caught up with me. Alongside her was Liv, who had stopped by for a bit, and Catarina.
“What was that?” Tammie asked as she smirked like the heathen she was.
“Seriously, I felt like we were all intruding.” Cat laughed. “That was hot!” she added, and Liv added in her two cents as well.
“I almost went into subspace! Guys. That hasn’t happened in…ages! What the fuck.” I exclaimed as my heart threatened to burst out of my chest.
All three women followed me into my office, taking up the couch as soon as I shut the door behind me.
“What the shit!” I exclaimed again, trying to make sense of what just happened while the girls just watched in light amusement.
“Are you okay?” Cat asked tentatively, now assessing my pacing form as I wore a hole into the carpet of my office.
I didn’t know how to answer that.
“I don’t know how to answer that.” I replied honestly, voicing my thoughts, which was a rare occurrence when it came to my deepest feelings which I held onto with a vice grip on most occasions.
“It’s okay to take time to process. That would just be a demo to most of us. But for you it’s different. That took balls! Considering…” Tammie said, letting her words hang in the air as I finally sat down on the far end of the couch to her right. “Priest asked me to tell you to text him when you can. He wants to know that you’re good.” She said, and my heart gave out a little.
What the hell does this all mean for me and for the promise I made to myself that I wouldn’t submit to a man’s desires ever again?
What the hell does this mean when doing so- even for a fucking demo- felt so damn good with Damian.
So damn right…

Some broad notes as I continue watching Superman: The Animated Series:
The show has a strong expectation of the audience’s attention to detail, in a way a lot of contemporary cartoons don’t. In The Way of All Flesh, there’s a scene where Clark and Lois, in an office setting without much of interest going on visually, casually question how John Corbin could have contracted the incredibly rare virus that forced him to become Metallo, given that it’s only found on an isolated island in South America; Lois speculates that he probably caught it while on the lam or participating in a regime change, and the question is put to bed. Later they’re investigating Corbin’s doctor’s office, and Clark wordlessly X-rays a sharps box, witnessing a suspect container, but making no commentary on it. At the climax he reveals that Lex Luthor (duh) was paying John’s doctor to slip him the virus in his food. In a contemporary cartoon, you would probably get a pointed dun-dun-dun-style sequence of the doctor actually poisoning the food to make sure nobody missed what was going on, and the sequence of noticing and retrieving the smoking-gun bottle-o-viral-agent would be given significantly more visual weight- a larger, shiner vial, a prolonged sequence where Clark retrieves it from the lockbox and scrutinizes it aloud. Another example- in the episode that introduces Kryptonite, Clark is investigating the museum that houses the kryptonite, and he passes by a tour guide who’s giving a muted, in-the-background lecture on how the ancient Babylonians were affected by lead poisoning from their dishware; this lecture isn’t centered and is mixed at a fairly low volume compared to the rest of the scene. Later he remembers that lecture and uses one of the lead dishes to contain the Kryptonite in the climactic fight. In a contemporary cartoon that lecture would be fuckin’ centered. They would walk in front of Superman before he was able to get to the Kryptonite display. He might say something like “interesting” aloud. In the parasite episode, Superman ultimately neutralizes Parasite by exposing him to the Kryptonite he stole from Lexcorp in the previous episode; absolutely no mention is made of why the kryptonite harms Parasite, it’s assumed that the audience will intuit that Parasite absorbed Superman’s weaknesses on top of his strengths.
The show is grounded in terms of where it sits in the progression of the universe. In the Pilot, we learn that this is already a superhero universe, through Ma Kent’s derisive reference to “That Nut From Gotham;” other heroes exist, but they’re fringe and seen as significantly less legitimate than they one day will be. In “A little piece of Home,” One of the thugs says, “I don’t do Metropolis; not since the big blue guy;” Superman is fundamentally still a novelty people are adjusting to and not a background fact of life. During Metallo’s initial rampage, when he still looks human, the news media jumps to the conclusion that he might be another alien of some sort because that’s their frame of reference for “super-strong-outwardly human;” recurring supervillians aren’t quite a thing yet.
The show is surprisingly tightly-paced for something nominally episodic. The very episode after the introduction of Kryptonite opens with Superman and Pr. Hamilton building an anti-kryptonite containment suit (which helpfully also counters Parasite.) Corbin appears as a one-off villain in the pilot and gets brought back to become Metallo approx. Five episodes later. After his role in the pilot, Braniac returns to the main plot with only four episodes having elapsed; a short enough period of time that the weekly viewers won’t have forgotten him, but enough individual adventures have happened that they’ve established a sense of the post-Superman emerging status-quo. For example, Superman and Lex’s dynamic is sufficiently well established that you can have Superman walk into Lex’s command center to have a terse but outwardly respectful conversation about taking safeguards against Braniac, but the overall sense that Superman and company are kinda novelties hasn’t yet gone away.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 4 is shaping up to be the show’s most nostalgic season yet, and PEOPLE has the exclusive First Look at the stars in character, including Joshua Bassett (Ricky), Sofia Wylie (Gina), Julia Lester (Ashlyn), Dara Reneé (Kourtney), Frankie Rodriguez (Carlos), Joe Serafini (Seb), Liamani Segura (Emmy) and more.
Following a transformative summer away at camp, the new season follows the East High students as they enter their senior year — and it doesn’t take long before the drama picks up, both on and off stage. As the students prepare to put on a stage production of High School Musical 3: Senior Year, their plans are quickly derailed when it’s announced that Disney is making the long-awaited High School Musical 4: The Reunion movie at their high school, and they'll all be playing featured extras.
When PEOPLE visited the HSMTMTS set last year, many of the stars teased that this season feels like a “full-circle” moment as many OG High School Musical stars make cameos, including Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel, Bart Johnson, Alyson Reed and Kaycee Stroh.
“We've been manifesting it since day one and here we are four seasons later and we finally get to be with the OG Wildcat Group,” explains Lester, 23. “They embody the OG Wildcat spirit, we embody this new Wildcat spirit, and two groups blended together has been so wonderful.”
Bassett, 22, adds that it was especially moving to witness the OG HSM cast’s emotional response to returning to East High nearly 15 years after the final film wrapped. “It was really special to share that,” he says. “It was truly a beautiful thing and beyond what we were hoping for to have so many original people back.”
This season will also feature two new recurring cast members who stir things up for the East High students.
Descendants: The Rise of Red’s Kylie Cantrall plays social media star Dani, who sounds like an HSMTMTS take on Ashley Tisdale's Sharpay. “She likes the spotlight and when she wants something, she goes and gets it, even if it means stepping on people's toes a little bit,” teases Cantrall, 17.
Meanwhile, Doogie Kameāloha, M.D. star Matthew Sato joins the cast as a sitcom actor named Mack, who he says “develops a really interesting relationship” with Gina as the season progresses.
Naturally, this season will feature countless nods to the original HSM franchise with the music, storylines and even costumes. “It is so meta,” showrunner Tim Federle says of season 4. “It's like Inception with jazz hands at this point. I think there are Easter eggs in every episode.”
The major storylines in this season also draw inspiration from the third High School Musical movie, as many of the characters go on journeys of self-discovery in their final year at East High.
“We chose High School Musical 3 because they're literally graduating,” Federle says of the significance behind the students’ musical for this year. “Troy and Gabriela have these stories about being potentially pulled apart by circumstance and by growing up and that's exactly what Ricky and Gina are going through,” he adds of Bassett and Sofia Wylie’s characters, who share a passionate kiss at the end of season 3.
As for that season 3 cliffhanger, Bassett teases that fans will continue to see the “aftermath” of that relationship in the upcoming season. “They're both really nervous about getting it right,” he says of Ricky and Gina. “It’s fun to see [them] in this light and actually see them in a healthy relationship because I think both of them have had pretty not great relationships.”
Relationship drama and big decisions are key themes in season 4 as the characters prepare to graduate high school. “Kourtney is going through these massive decisions about wanting it all as a college student,” teases Federle, 43. “Ashlyn goes on a journey where she discovers her own queerdom in the series.”
“Those are all things we're able to address in a way that I think celebrates the original franchise but puts a stamp on it in our own way,” Federle adds.
As for what Federle hopes the show’s final stamp will be? The importance of community. “In the streaming era, there's something real about the phrase ‘It's now or never,’” he explains. “[To] still be on the air after four seasons is a blessing alone.”
“I hope what people take away [from the series] is that in a mean, mean world, it's really important to find your people who have your back,” he adds. “The world is mean enough, and there are certain pockets of the world that you can find your people and soar and not apologize for who you are.”
He continues, “That goes for our audience, and that goes for these characters and ultimately, it goes for the real-life cast, hoping from me that they carry this with them for the rest of their lives. That they had a place to go that was safe and where they were celebrated for all of their colors.”
“This was my first TV show,” he adds. “And what I promised Disney was that if they let me hire real theater kids, they wouldn't let me down. I'm so proud of them because when the world beats them up, they still show up for me and for each other.”

Live reaction hsmtmts 3x06:
Please the canoe scene is the cutest thing ever they're so cute i love them The way ej said so we can stay together like I'm crying babies please stay together
Kourtney is so iconic i love her and her teaming up with Carlos madox and jet will be incredible
Wait i really love val now and also everyone has been assuming things about ash and telling her how she is but val didn't she was like no I'm not about that. wait im kind of getting on board with this
JET AND RICKY ARE TALKING JET AND RICKY ARE TALKING my jetwen heart is happy
The pizza oven joke was good
Ms Jenn being like EJ my tallest child. Any time the wildcat fam is canonically referred to with familial terms my heart is so happy
Yes a Corbin bleu song let's go
EJ and Miss Jenn scene: stars i love EJ literally my favourite
Dewey says: why do Ricky and EJ give off boyfriends energy every time they interact like you're standing so close together you're so comfortable around each other what is this. Also don't think i didn't see it was EJ pulling you back at the start of the episode like he's your bf
Ricky asking if miss Jenn is tired he's so sweet i love him but also i feel like Ricky's always having to be emotionally responsible for the adults in his life so it’s like habit now :(
When EJ was concerned about the wildcats finding out miss Jenn was there bc he doesn't want them to know he's struggling- i get that, especially bc if the person in charge doesn't have it all together everyone is freaked out, but like can someone tell him that it's okay for him to not have it all together bc he has way too much pressure on him, and that these are his friends so it's okay for them to know not everything's perfect. They can work on this together
I don't like miss Jenn and Mr Bowen it's wack get that away
Jet genuinely cheering kourt on? So cute. Like the little "you got this kourt" I wasn't sure about jet x kourt bc jetwen and also i love Howie and kourt but i could get on board with this. Like her calling his stuffed animal cute that was nice. But i think they would be a cute friendship anyway
"Richard !" And then her throwing the freaking rock at him and Ricky being so confused help 💀
The way Ricky kept looking at jet when he said he was a very committed man 👀👀👀👀
No this is so cute wait we're getting more portwell content
Also Ricky's out here helping everyone with their relationships, romantic and non romantic. Like yeah i get it this is for love triangle spice blah blah blah but i appreciate that Ricky was out here helping seblos with their big moment, and then jet and maddox with their relationship, and now with PW's little moment
Also Ricky guiding in EJ like why is the caswen content there though. The way Ricky looked at EJ. Also they're both wearing converse
STOP IT WHEN THEY WERE WAITING FOR THE FIREWORKS THE WAY EJ LOOKED AT GINA WAS SO SAD IM GOING TO THROW UP
why are they doing this to them
>:(
Also quick tangent i hate that fireworks are always a metaphor for whether a relationship is good or not in media bc some relationships are like fireworks but like Belly's mom says in tsitp some are like campfire some are more comforting and that's not a bad thing and it's just so dumb it's not an indicator of a good relationship i hate this
I get that it's a metaphor for there being sparks but we know portwell has chemistry and sparks why are they doing this hhhhh
No seriously the more I think about it the more Im so tired of the fireworks metaphor. Fireworks are not a necessary component of a relationship. Often you'll feel fireworks or butterflies or whatever but when you're more comfortable with a person and a relationship it feels comforting and right
DUDE WAIT THE FIREWORKS WITH THE VAL AND ASHLYN HUG
Big red and her were cute if i was super invested in them I'd be mad but i like this and redlyn might stay together anyway this is just ash’s queer awakening
That was such a cute moment even if it doesn't go anywhere bc Val's in college and all that it was still a nice little sapphic moment i appreciate it
JET COMING IN THE CABIN WHILE RICKYS CRYING ARE WE GOING TO GET A JETWEN MOMENT
guys you have no idea how much i would love if everything was a misdirect if Ricky got with jet and portwell figured themselves out oh my stars
Ricky calling jet a nightmare that was flirting
No Ricky that was so scary your face was so scary pls don't do a repeat of season 1 what was that

What would the cn characters get canceled for on twitter?
Omg I love this ask-
What would the Cafe Noir characters get cancelled for on Twitter / X?
Tobi: By supporting a musical artist that's been cancelled. Most of the time, he doesn't keep up on celebrity drama, and even if he knows that a musician he likes is problematic, he's gonna enjoy their music anyways.
Corbin: He'd probably say something super out of pocket with no context like "Sometimes I wish I could throw children in a river" just because one cut him in line at the store or something. And he would not elaborate on what he means.
Stephen: Stephen is the king of toxic positivity. He believes that if people are unhappy, then they're probably doing something wrong and just need to try harder. So he'd probably post something that could seem like he's very dismissive of mental health and the struggles that come with it. He's just oblivious to those things since he personally doesn't struggle with them.
Alec: Alec would probably make a post calling a celebrity or something out for problematic behavior (with proof of it), and that celebrities' white knights will try to pounce on him for it.
Silas: Silas's interests may involve material that others could find problematic or has problematic elements (certain anime or games with very sensitive subjects). So he might post something about it or a cosplay he did from it and someone would be like "uhm, doesn't [insert anime/game name] glorify [sensitive topic]?" and he'd be like "idk fuck off"
Rory: I can't really see Rory getting cancelled for anything other than by a misunderstanding.
Armen: She would post about the benefits of weed and whatnot, and people would come at her and say it's dangerous and she's spreading propaganda or something.
Ji-Ho: She'd probably dox someone for being homophobic.
Marina: She likes older literature (which a lot have some controversial topics or content), so she'd post about a book and someone would try and say she supports racism or whatever just because she likes "To Kill a Mockingbird" or something.
Anastasia: She doesn't use social media.
Tate: If someone acts like a dumbass or a creep, he'll post about them publicly. He doesn't care if he's ruining someone's reputation, don't be stupid or a weirdo. (Especially because they get the occasional weirdo at the cafe who hits on the girls)

Season 4 wishes
Ricky and Gina: They are cast as Troy and Gabriella, respectively. After the kiss they will try to keep their relationship private from the public eye. However due to Ricky's newfound heartthrob popularity and Gina's rising success they will struggle due to the media pressure, and because of that they will pressuring themselves, in private. Thy will have an argument towards the end of the season, that will end with Ricky declaring his love to Gina, and both of them going public with their romantic status. Gina will also deal with having her mum back at home, and Ricky with his future, with him realizing, that, as much as he loves performing, that is not what he wants to dedicate his life to. They would talk about both, the past and the future of their relationship. They end the season rock solid.
Big Red and Ashlyn and Maddox: Ashlyn as Mrs Darbus, I guess, while Big Red could be Zeke or Coach Bolton. Maddox is a techy. Maddox (as well as Jet) will change schools to East High. Redlyn will start the season both trying to juggle their newfound sexualities with their relationship. Ashlyn will talk to Big Red about her discovery during camp, and after trying for a while, they will eventually break up mid-season. Meanwhile, Maddox will try to date Madison, but it will end sooner rather than later due to Maddox evident crush. I don't want the typical cheater bisexual gf plot for Ashlyn, but I do think that her and Maddox will end the season together. I've decided to guess that Maddox and Big Red are the same age, so they will bond over tech and their future. Big Red decides to study something about cooking or bussiness, while Maddox decides to study something related with an engineer of some sorts. The three of them will be considered LGTBIQ+ icons by the fans of the doc.
Jet and Kourtney: Chad and Taylor. Kourtney and Howie will break up at the beggining of the season (if they are not broken up already). Her and Jet will dance around their feelings during most of the season, finally ending up together. Not in the finale, but some episode nearby. Kourtney's anxiety plot will continue, mainly due to college spectations. I want her to join a lot of clubs and activities and to eventually feel overwhelmed, and have an anxiety attack mid-season. During the rest of the show she will try to project and relax. Jet will have a hard time trying to fit in in high school only ever truly hanging out wth Ricky, Kourtney and Maddox, who are a grade above him, I want him to become friends with Seb because I feel that would be a really ironic and hilarious relationship. Kourtney will become a fashion icon, of course.
Seb and Carlos: They will portray Sharpay and Ryan. They will talk about their echonimically different upbringings, and about the effect of the documentary. They will fight (and deep down I want them to break up for a more dramatic effect, getting back together at the end of the season again, or on the next one), and will have numerous and multiple arguments, because while Carlos is a star, Seb isn't. Seb will believe that he is not going to become a star, being the only one of his friends without any impact on the doc ('cause I mean, what Big Red said is simply iconic). They will eventually make up, and Carlos will tell Seb that everyone has got a different timing. I also, just for fun, want an episode where Carlos and Seb are working on the farm.
EJ: I'm incredibly excited about his storyline this season. I want him to be part of the crew of the hsm4 movie, lik an assistant for Corbin os something like that. He will start feeling older, and kind of left out of his high school friends, as he is no longer in high school anymore. His dad and him will have a tense scene during the show, with Ej even threatening of moving out (or actually doind it, lol). Maybe Kylie Catrall's character is working with him or something like that. They may have romantic undertones BUT THEY SHOULD NOT DATE, at least not until the very end. EJ and his dad will eventually make peace with each other. Ej will realize his dream is to work as a director or something behind the scenes.
Then, talking about scenes that will give me certain self-fullfilment, I will love for EJ and Ricky to talk about the whole Nini-Ricky-Gina-EJ square, maybe Gina joining them later. I want a kind of rivalry between Jet and Big Red because both of them think they are Ricky's bff, and him ultimateley revelling is Gina (I saw this in twitter I believe, and I thought it was perfect). And I would absolutely love if Zanessa would talk with Ricky and Gina. Literally a dream come true.
Then, about the songs (this post is coming longer than intended), I want rina to sing can i have this dance and just wanna be with you. The first one, while rehearsing or something like that, and the second one during the actual play. I don't mind who sings scream, I'm aware that is basically between EJ and Ricky. I want it all could be between Carlos and Seb, or Carlos and Kourtney.
I don't have much headcanons for any of the other songs, I believe.
