28 . sorry - our muses having sex after an argument

screaming matches were F E W and far between in the patrick household , especially with a new child matt saw no need in ever being truly angry . he had the most beautiful , understanding , smart wife he could have even dreamed for and an amazing , talented , equally as smart son who did nothing but impress him and bring him daily bouts of joy . but sometimes , tension was high . the internet was a crazy place right now , jumping through hoops and rings to ensure that his family could survive living day to day life . truthfully , him and steph had been together through worse times . they’d been together when matt could barely afford to eat and was sharing a single ramen packet with her so they could just LIVE . but something about the current climate of the world had matthew a bit on edge , but who could blame him ? an almost two year long pandemic was still raging seconds outside of his door , he and stephanie were trying diligently to raise a child during it , the brunet was constantly thinking about his family that wasn’t under his roof and ensuring they were safe . he was just a man with a lot on his mind and very little energy or motivation to talk it out .

he wasn’t emotionally constipated or anything like that , matt was exceptional about talking about how he felt . at least to a public eye that’s how it would seem . in his personal life , matthew tried not discussing his personal issues as much , instead opting to listen to people close to him talk about theirs instead . he was a GREAT listener . it would seem that these habits had bubbled up to the surface though as he found himself , face scrunch up in anger , looking back at his equally as angry wife . the way her eyes narrowed and her posture stiffened up , that fiery glaze behind her eyes , the way she looked mere seconds from absolutely tearing him a new one . something about that made brunet swallow thickly , eyes looking over his wife for just a second before pulling back , noticeably flustered . it was a great thing ollie was with his grandparents , he didn’t need to be seeing any of this .

his tongue running against the back of his teeth , a nervous habit he picked up that was less noticeable than his usual finger picking , feeling the back of his neck get warmer by the second . was he . . . ? was he turned on by his wife getting mad with him ? oh god , that would be a good handful to unpack later . for now , matthew decided it would be a fantastic time to follow up their screaming match with witty , tasteful humor . maybe a little bit of fliting as well . he cocks a brow , a smug grin spreading across his features .

“ you know , you’re pretty hot when you’re mad at me . “

was that his attempt at an apology ? kinda ! it was really more so a way for him to gauge where this was about to go . another screaming match ? or maybe . . . something else ?
