listen personifying vehicles (and by extension machines in general but i want to focus on vehicles for this post) just gets me super emotional.

Like i know i’m not the only one that feels such because i’m in a fandom where we collectively make modes of transportation sapient but there’s like this general special reaction when you hear of like this specific steamboat sinking and it hurts (in a good way).

I guess it’s because we tend to see vehicles as an extension of ourselves or our children if it’s personally owned transport. They eat to work they rest they need to go to a specialist they won’t work if we don’t treat them well to feel better and so on and so on.

Vehicles tend to be like artificial humans but also Not quite?? They can do some of the things that we can do and when times go by you kinda start growing with them too.

We tend to build a sort of connection to them even though they aren’t like ‘alive’ in a sense but you can feel that they have something alive in them that aren’t their operators or crew.

[I Finally did the Face overanalysis for the other engines because why not]

Thomas : Perfectly Circular eyes with a smile that looks like he's gonna wreck your shit, big teardrop shaped nose, brows that look like squished pyramids, he has a bit of cheek, thicker lower lip.

Edward : Avocado shaped eyes, nose curves upwards and ends on a wide triangle, more pronounced bottom lip (his lower lip looks a bit darker to me but i think thats mostly how the face is painted), sharp brows, sometimes has wrinkles sometimes doesn't, I think this is more noticeable in the model BUT he has a bit of chin!

Henry : Oval shaped eyes, in the early Model series they're larger and set closer together while from TATMR to the CGI series they're smaller and set far apart, Large thin nose that points downwards, Crows feet, has a lot more cheek wrinkles. His brows are tiny in the model series but are a little longer in the CGI series.

Gordon : He straight up looks like a marble statue sometimes. Very chiseled features, a whole lotta straight lines and more squared edges especially on his nose, pronounced philtrum which I usually think is a Gresley trait, barely noticeable but still there Crows feet, whenever he smiles its pretty curvy and they have lil ends on them, pronounced cheeks. Thick brows but we all know Scotsman’s are thicker.

James : Very circular and big, nose points but also it's pretty large and bulbous especially in the CGI series, high cheek wrinkles caused by literally big mouth, pronounced Crow's feet, eyes are pretty large too with short brows.

Percy : Still round but small, button nose like Peter Sam but it points forward, small mouth and round eyes that are slightly farther apart compared to James, short thin brows, round pronounced cheeks.

Toby : Squished, Eyes are big, nose points upward but moreso than Edward's, pronounced nostrils so much so that the inside is visible, he's got a bit of chin going on, also got a bit of cheek going on. Due to his basis and how his face is styled he looks a bit flatter compared to everyone else.

Duck : Nose is very beak like/triangular which I guess is fitting for someone nicknamed Duck, large eyes and pronounced cheek bones, he looks like he has thinner lips and a slightly smaller mouth, round eyes that are big and set close together.

Donald and Douglas : Pronounced cheeks but are lower than Duck's, angular noses but are also very squared and the top of the angle is like There.

Oliver : Eyes while round like nearly everyone here his eyes look like they sorta droop down and kinda look smaller, nose is the opposite of Toby's, very round nose with the nostrils more pronounced, very wide mouth and while cheeks are pronounced they aren’t to the degree of ither characters (i.e the scottish twins & gordon). In the CGI series his brows look similar to Thomas but are straight up triangles now.
