I just wanna see something that I’ve always been curious about
*including if your parents had them growing up or if you’ve ever lived with anyone who had them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m curious if it’s like a regional u.s. midwestern thing (where I’m from) or a generational thing or just a coincidence that I’ve encountered this brand so much or what, so drop any of these details in the tags if you’d like! Thank you for helping me satisfy my weird dinnerware curiosities <3

Exploring the Versatility of Corelle: Debunking the Melamine Myth!
Tumblr media
Hey everyone!  Today, I want to talk about Corelle, the beloved tableware brand, and clear up a common misconception about it.  Some folks believe that they are the same, but that's far from the truth!
So, in understanding Corelle versus Melamine dishes, you have to first note that Corelle is actually crafted from a unique material called Vitrelle glass, setting it apart from traditional melamine products.
Vitrelle is a tempered glass that combines the best of both worlds - the lightweight nature of melamine and the durability and elegance of glass.  Now, here's what makes Corelle even more fantastic – it's remarkably resistant to breakage and chipping!
That means you can use it every day without worrying about accidents.
Plus, Corelle is both microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe, ensuring convenience and ease during mealtimes.  But the perks don't stop there! Corelle comes in an array of designs and patterns that cater to various aesthetics and occasions.
Whether you prefer minimalist styles or vibrant colors, Corelle has got your back!  Not only is Corelle stylish and practical, but it's also environmentally friendly.
Unlike disposable dinnerware or single-use plastics, Corelle promotes a greener approach to dining without compromising on style or quality.  So, if you've been hesitant to try Corelle due to the melamine myth, worry no more!
Embrace the beauty, practicality, and sustainability of Corelle's Vitrelle glassware, and elevate your dining experience to a whole new level.

Once upon a time Corelle debuted a simple design of golden flowers and butterflies. For years they languished in the kitchen cabinets of unsuspecting households. Then everything changed when Taylor Swift released her Anti-Hero video. Now mid-century American dishes are the talk of the town. But is it safe? (No.)

Not so sure about that Corelle dish post thing. It got me too but then I looked into it and there aren't really any reliable sources
Yeah I did the same thing. Corelle the company did suggest to stop using their dishes from pre 2005 but I didn't see any follow up wrt their testing or anything. 2005 is a weird number though bc the laws about leachable lead in the US went into effect in 1971.
What it comes down to is your own lead swab test results I guess !! If you land some old dishes that don't seem that scratched up or they’re (unlikely) new in box, then I bet you're fine.
(Personally, I eat off melamine plates and I know those are their own problem, but they’re a set of eight and each one is a planet of the solar system. So I'm not going to stop eating off my space plates.)

From Reddit:
"Corelle dishes- My mom bought these at 18 when she moved out. She'll be 63 this year.
"They've somehow managed to survive manhandling by three kids over 45 years who had dishwashing as their chore, she even puts the plates in the oven to cook biscuits etc on sometimes."

Found the Corelle “Forever Yours” 89’-93’ Plates at GoodWill the other day. I went back yesterday & decided to buy the plates since they were still there & I already had the Cups. I’m going to try to sell them on OfferUp since it’s a good set & semi complete. It’s only missing the Bowls.
