i forget what the original text up here said because i just hit Ctrl+A so hi this is my Revised Starting Roster and Unlock Methods for Smash Bros Ultimate. You might see heresy! You might see playground rumours! Good! Those are features.

Dark Burden Theorycraft

Help. I've fallen, and I can’t get up.

Anyway, this is like the 3rd Fallen banner we got. They were pretty good at the time, but not must summoned like new year’s (The demon Edelgard cometh). They is room for improvement for sure. Additionally, everyone here has “alts” that we can pull inspiration from.

Corrin: Bloodbound Beast

Lvl. 40 5 ☆ 42/38/38/33/26 Max Invest: 52/48/48/42/36

Brutal Breath: Grants Spd+3. Grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+X during combat. (Calculates X based on number of allies within 2 spaces of unit: 0 allies grants +5; 1 grants +3; 2 grants +1; ≥3 allies grants +0.) If the number of allies within 2 spaces is ≤ 1, inflicts Special cooldown charge -1 on foe per attack during combat. (Only highest value applied. Does not stack.) If foe's Range = 2, calculates damage using the lower of foe's Def or Res.

Glimmer - Atk/Spd Solo 4 - Null Follow-Up 3 - Rouse Spd/Def 3

Yawn. It’s fallen Corrin but now a dude. Well, while f!Fallen!Corrin was “Oh-noes, I’m coming down with a dragon fever,” m!Fallen!Corrin is a feral hound, so they are diffrent. I actually used m!F!Corrin to theorycraft f!F!Corrin refine a year ago, and now we’re going the other way. It’s like poetry or something.

Brutal Breath: Grants Spd+3. Grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+X during combat. (Calculates X based on number of allies within 2 spaces of unit: 0 allies grants +7; 1 grants +5; 2 grants +3; 3 grants +1; ≥4 allies grants +0.) If the number of allies within 2 spaces is ≤ 1, grants Special cooldown charge +1 to unit and inflicts Special cooldown charge -1 on foe per attack (only highest value applied; does not stack) If foe's Range = 2, calculates damage using the lower of foe's Def or Res.

At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, grants Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit during combat and reduces damage from foe's first attack by X% (X = 30 - number of allies within 2 spaces of unit × 10; min 0%). At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25% and unit's Atk > foe's Res, unit's first attack deals damage = X% of difference between stats (X = 30 - number of allies within 2 spaces of unit × 10; min 0%).

For the base effect, we increase the stat bonuses based on unit’s surrounding allies. Then, he had just Guard. I felt, since f!Corrin refine gave penalty nullification, we need something better for m!Corrin, otherwise, we increase the allotted allies. I could having the Scowl effect from the last batch of Tiki alts, or we go more beast mode with Special Fighter. After that, it’s the same as f!Corrin.

Lyon: Demon King

Lvl. 40 5 ☆ 40/40/16/32/35 Max Invest: 50/50/25/41/46

Blood Tome: Grants Atk+3. If foe uses bow, dagger, magic, or staff, reduces damage from area-of-effect Specials by 80% (excluding Røkkr area-of-effect Specials) and reduces damage from foe's attacks by 50%, and if foe is also colorless, grants weapon-triangle advantage to unit and inflicts weapon-triangle disadvantage on foe.

Sol – Bonus Doubler 3 – Null C-Disrupt – Rouse Atk/Res 3

OH-SNAP it’s Demon King Fomortiis! Well, not yet. I was surprised actually that we got him as a Mythic unit 3 years after this possessed Lyon alt. Fallen!Lyon is bring an very early version of the damage reduction we just can’t get enough of now. Just like Nagi, he has 80% damage reduction to AOE attacks, and weapon-triangle advantage against colorless foes. The downside is that it’s only against ranged units. No advantage against melee foes, not even colorless dragons or beasts. I know why, we were not prepared for a close counter infantry mage that could tank damage solely through damage reduction, but now that DR is getting countered left right and center, let’s change it up.

Blood Tome: Grants Atk+3. At the start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 50%, or if foe uses bow, dagger, magic, or staff, reduces damage from area-of-effect Specials by 80% (excluding Røkkr area-of-effect Specials), grant Atk/Def/Res+5 to unit during combat, reduces damage from foe's attack first attack by 50%, reduces damage from foe's second attack onward by 80%, and if foe is also colorless, grants weapon-triangle advantage to unit and inflicts weapon-triangle disadvantage on foe.

So, here we have an incredibly dodge tanky mage. Instead of stopping the foe from doubling, he makes the double impossible to hurt. Instead of working against just ranged units, it now allows him to take at least one round of combat if the foe attacks in melee range. And he can now get the Raven tome effects against colorless dragons, if he is healthy. With all this tank power, he is missing something important, killing his opponent. Let’s fix that with.

At the start of combat, If foe initiate combat or foe’s HP ≥ 75%, grant Atk/Def/Res+5 to unit, increase damage by 10% of unit's Atk, grants unit a guaranteed follow-up attack and Special cooldown charge +1 per attack to unit during combat (only highest value applied; does not stack).

Vengeful Fighter + true damage based on Atk. Basely, his Def and Res were comparably good, but his Atk stat was higher. He will be going +6 true damage with this new weapon alone and get +7-9 with proper investment. Now you just need to pick either Atk/Def or Atk/Res to specialize into. Swap Sol out for Bonfire or Iceberg, or go Aether or Flare for the extra damage on top of healing.

Julia: Heart Usurped

Lvl. 40 5 ☆ 40/39/28/19/36 Max Invest: 50/49/37/28/47

Dark Scripture: Grants Atk+3. If unit is not adjacent to an ally, inflicts Atk/Res-6 on foe during combat, and if foe does not have "effective against dragons," unit makes a guaranteed follow-up attack.

Iceberg - Atk/Res Solo 4 - Light and Dark - Panic Smoke 3

Light and Dark: Inflicts Atk/Spd/Def/Res-2 on foe, neutralizes foe's bonuses (from skills like Fortify, Rally, etc.), and disables foe's skills that "calculate damage using the lower of foe's Def or Res" during combat.

At this point in the game’s life, Julia was designated as the dragon slaying mage, with her legendary and original versions both having dragon effective tomes, neutralizing the adaptive damage which allowed her to tank dragons damage with her high Res, and that’s it. Other heroes have effective damage and can still double. Here comes Fallen Juila, and she’s designated as mage that nukes everyone, who doesn’t have a dragon effective weapon, similarly to Julius. While she has Light and Dark, the solo condition she needs to get Atk/Res-6 on foe, then a follow-up if the foe isn’t effective against dragons, is just not good.

Dark Scripture: Grants Atk+3. If unit initiate combat or is adjacent to ≤ 2 allies, inflicts Atk/Res-6 on foe and unit makes a guaranteed follow-up attack during combat, and also, if foe does not have "effective against dragons," neutralize effects that prevent unit's follow-up attacks.

So now, she is getting what is basically an inheritable weapon, with the added flare of “if the foe isn’t effective against dragon, it’s a NFU charged guaranteed. So, is it like Dragon Ire? Yes, it’s like dragon Ire, except she needs to initiate combat or “solo-lite”. Hmm. This gives me an idea. What if fallen Julia was just a dragon.

At the start of combat, unit’s HP ≥ 25%, grant Atk/Res+6 to unit during combat, and also, if foe does not have "effective against dragons", grant the following effects; if unit's Res > foe's Res, reduces damage from attacks during combat and from area-of- effect Specials (excluding Røkkr area-of-effect Specials) by percentage = difference between stats × 4 (max 40%); if foe's Range = 2, calculates damage using the lower of foe's Def or Res; If unit is not adjacent to an ally, unit can counterattack regardless of foe's range.

Okay, breaking it down. So long as she is above 25% and the foe does not have dragon effectiveness she gets Dragon Wall, adaptive damage against ranged weapons, and if she is truly solo, she get’s close counter. The Dragon Wall is something she shares with her Legendary alt and Julius. The adaptive damage is just to counter all the Res tank mages (and Res tank bow, daggers, or staffs) just like breath weapon. The only other mage that has adaptive damage is NY!Reginn with her Seiðr Shell, so this can give her a niche. Finally, since Juila got Close Counter only against dragons, I wanted her to get close counter against all non-dragon slaying foes, but we still haven’t got a real distinct Close Counter weapon since Shinon, and his is a solo condition. Since Juila already had a solo condition, I’m putting it back in for the very exclusive ability. So, yeah, Juila is sort of a dragon now.

Ike: Zeal Unleashed

Lvl. 40 5 ☆ 40/35/42/32/23 Max Invest: 50/45/52/41/33

Chaos Ragnell: Unit can counterattack regardless of foe's range. Grants bonus to Atk/Spd/Def/Res during combat = current penalty on each of unit's stats × 2. (Example: if unit has -7 penalty to Atk, grants Atk+14, for a net bonus of Atk+7.) Calculates each stat bonus independently.

Mayhem Aether - Darting Breath - Repel 3 - Atk/Spd Oath 3

Mayhem Aether : [CD-4] During combat, treats foe's Def/Res as if reduced by 50%. Restores HP = 50% of damage dealt.

Next is F!Ike, the radest Ike there is. What? He always had sunglasses. He was just L!Ike but with, what we now call, Grand Strategy in his weapon, no condition. Good chance, what ever I.S. gives has a refine, it will be better than L!Ike. Rip.

Chaos Ragnell: Unit can counterattack regardless of foe's range. At the start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25% or Penalty is active on unit, grant Atk/Spd/Def/Res+X during combat (X = 4 + current penalty on each of unit's stats × 2. (Example: if unit has -7 penalty to Atk, grants Atk+14, for a net bonus of Atk+7.) Calculates each stat bonus independently.

At the start of turn, inflict Atk-7 and [Panic] on unit and nearest foe's within 4 tile radius. If foe initiate combat or foe's HP ≥ 75%, grant Atk/Spd/Def/Res+4 to unit and inflict Spd/Def-X on foe during combat (X = number of [Bonus] and [Penalty] effects active on unit × 4; max 16; excludes stat bonuses and stat penalties)

First, he’s getting +4 if he is above 25% or has Penalties. Then, and hang with me here, he inflicts Atk-7 and [Panic] like a Meance skill on foes and himself. Wow, he inflict himself with penalties, crazy. Panic, if you didn’t know, covert bonus into penalties, and due to his weapon, they are converted back into bonuses. Stacking this with L!Robin [Grand Strategy] makes him 2 times the bonuses. He then gets another +4 and inflicts Spd/Def penalties on foe equal to all the keyword penalties both he and his opponent has. The [Panic] on both makes it +8. This does mean you should pair him with a status debuffer or he needs to fight another status debuffer. Overall, instead of making him a Aether spammer, he's a raid boss like he always was.

Ashnard: Mad King

Lvl. 40 5 ☆ 43/37/21/35/31 Max Invest: 53/47/30/45/41

Gurgurant: Neutralizes "effective against flying" bonuses. Grants Def+3. Inflicts Atk/Def-5 on foes within 2 spaces during combat.

Dragon Fang - Distant Def 3 - Even Atk Wave 3

It’s Ashnard! He does a little trolling.

So here’s another GHB wyvern, but this one a sword, and has a perf. It’s just Iote’s Shield and Atk/Def Rein (before Rein was a thing). He’s also a tank with low spd, so he has stats to work with.

Neutralizes "effective against flying" bonuses. Grants Def+3. Inflicts Atk/Def-5 on foes within 3 spaces during combat. At start of enemy phase, inflicts [Guard] on foes within 3 spaces of unit.

Okay, so, like. You know how Ashnard had Daunt? And you know how Gurgurant is able to neutralize enemy crits (unless they have Wrath) Well, here’s the combo of it. The Rein is getting upgraded to a hold skill, and he’s inflicting Guard on foe’s within that 3 tile radius. I figured, since we havn’t gotten anyone that provides “Inflicts Special cooldown charge -1 on foe’s within a 2 tile radius per attack,” that it might be to powerful, un-counter-able. When Timerra got her Halloween alt, she got this instead, but a larger AoE, and she already had a personal skill from Engage that lowered enemy crit in an AoE. So now, he just applies [Guard] to foe’s in a 3 tile radius, this supportive skill should keep him relevant in the future like Arion with his [Charge].

At the start of combat, if unit's HP >50% or [Penalty] is active on unit, grant Atk/Spd/Def/Res+X (X = 4 + current penalty on each of unit's stats × 2. (Example: if unit has -7 penalty to Atk, grants Atk+14, for a net bonus of Atk+7. Calculates each stat bonus independently.), unit makes a guaranteed follow-up attack, and restore 7 HP to unit after combat.

As for the juicy bits, Ashnard, in this alt, is under the influence of the chaos medallion, just like Fallen!Ike. So I’m giving him the Grand Strategy switch that Ike got, along with guaranteed follow-up and 7 HP of healing after combat, since he came with Renewal as well.

OKAY That’s it. The fallen banner is done, and I can go wash off the angst. Tune in next time the (*Looking at notes*) the Mirabilis banner? She already had a refine. Oh well.

First impression: "These leaks cannot be real what the hell"

Impression now: MY SAD WET CAT. I WILL PROTECT HIM. Absolutely one of my favorite lords in the series.

Favorite moment: There are so many to choose from... I think I'll talk about Lumera's second death. I talked about it a lot here, but that scene is really where (esp. in the Japanese) Alear coalesces their mostly forgotten past with their present.

Idea for a story: Too many that I haven't finished and anything else I can think of is all Marlear content.

Unpopular opinion: Alear is great apparently

Favorite relationship: Marlear, they are so cute and supportive of each other. Of romanceable options, Alfred--he's Alear's first friend!

Favorite headcanon: Naps very often but occasionally gets annoyed with that. They don't like to feel like they're missing anything.

Marth:

First impression: Fun Smash Bros dude

Impression now: Gorgeous Smash Bros dude (jk, he's also kind and fair and just and what a good lord, very fitting for the first one/face of the franchise)

Favorite moment: I won't lie, I'm most familiar with his Engage form and FEH in recent memory so. Hmmm. We'll say his summoning by Alear.

Idea for a story: Emblem Marth coming to terms with being his own existence.

Unpopular opinion: I don't know what's popular and unpopular anymore :c Idk man he's pretty

Favorite relationship: Marlear. He and Caeda are cute as well.

Favorite headcanon: Emblem Marth has lots of difficulties with being essentially a copy of someone who existed millennia ago, much less someone not from Elyos. He hides it well but eventually reveals it to Alear.

Azura:

First impression: My current url is from when her name was first revealed so yes, I have always loved her.

Impression now: So beautiful and kind and also, I have a type when it comes to FE ladies (blue and mysterious).

Favorite moment: Nohr outfit dance... It did something to me.

Idea for a story: Emblem Azura being the Emblem of Revelation

Unpopular opinion: Like I said idk what's popular/unpopular anymore. Azura perfect I guess

Favorite relationship: Azura x m!Corrin (specifically)

A Dream Come True

-Brave!Lucina x Robin

-SFW Drabble

-Robin and Lucina's first meeting (based on a true story)

It was another day of running through various events and such for Robin and the heroes of Askr, collecting whatever orbs they could find to summon even more heroes to their cause. Though they knew that it was a necessary evil, Robin hated all the fighting... especially heroes they'd heard so much about from their own world.

Robin gathered their team- Alfonse, Anna, Sharena, and a kimono-clad Corrin- and made their way through one of the gates Alfonse had opened. He informed them that a sort of contest had been held, and only the bravest of heroes were called here. Shockingly, Robin recognized all four Brave Heroes here; Lyn, Roy, Ike, and Lucina... the sight of the blue-haired princess filled them with anxiety. They knew her about as well as one could outside of personally meeting them, and Robin knew they didn't want to fight her. The princess didn't seem too bothered, though, treating it more as some sort of sparring match to see whose units were stronger.

Robin's units progressed quite quickly, slowly but surely defeating each of the Brave Heroes one by one, including Lucina herself. Once the battle was over, both took some time to tend to their wounded, and Robin found themself gravitating to Lucina. She had received a rather nasty cut on her cheek, so the Summoner did their best to bandage her up as a sort of apology for having to fight her in the first place.

Afterwards, Robin's team and the Brave Heroes started to chat, though Robin had stopped listening shortly after Lucina approached them. "Please, allow me to thank you for breaking our contr- wait... could you be... Robin?"

Robin was a bit taken aback that she recognized them. Lucina noticed their shock, so she continued. "We all had the same dream that hundreds of people were cheering us on. And there, at the front of the crowd... was you, Robin."

Anna mentioned something about it having to do with the rite that brough these heroes here, and Lucina nodded in agreement. "The wishes of many brought us here. And I suppose that means Robin's wishes as well."

Lucina leaned down to meet Robin's gaze, admittedly flustering the shorter Summoner a bit. "Well, Robin... I really hope we'll see each other again soon. I would be honored to fight by your side." And with that, Robin's group had left the Brave Heroes behind.

The last battle had given Robin the number of orbs they needed to summon, so when they arrived back in Askr they quickly made their way to the summoning room. They placed the five orbs into the stone, watching them light up in various colors. Robin picked a blue orb, loaded it into Briedablik, and fired.

There was a flash of light as the hero was summoned, and Robin could hardly believe it. A familiar lance-wielding princess with blue hair... and a fresh scar on her cheek. The princess stared at Robin with equal disbelief, then grinned with such genuine excitement that Robin wanted to run over and hug her.

"Well, seems fate has plans for us yet. It's nice to see you again, Robin. Just as I promised, I'm here to fight by your side..."

Corrin: Please, there’s no need. I’ve had plenty of practice by myself back when I was still living in the Northern Fortress.

(y/n): I hadn’t realized.

Corrin: Ha! Please, (y/n), don’t look so scared. Where I grew up isn’t a topic that I’m uncomfortable with. I look back on it quite fondly, actually. … You know, there wasn’t a lot to do in there. I remember going to the library just to pass the time. I remember it was there I first came across songs for the piano.

(y/n): It’s nice that you decided to take up an instrument so young. You know, I play the piano, too.

Corrin: Really? Well, that’s just fantastic! We need to find some pieces for piano four hands!

(y/n): I’d love to. Who knows, maybe one day we’ll be good enough to show off to other people.

Corrin: Hee hee! Speaking of showing off, I think that all the keys are tuned properly now! Come closer, (y/n)! Watch me play!

My Favorites Emblem

So, some of you in the Fire Emblem Heroes community might be wondering, which Hero I am close to. In case you are, I'm glad you asked. Here's my list of Heroes my summoner (Yamato) is close to and why he is.

1.) Lucina - She's Yamato's best friend. Saving Meliodas from Validar's control and helping the Superstar Brothers of Britannia get a chaos emerald back from him was enough for her to earn their respect. But when she removed her mask and revealed her identity, both brothers were shocked—In more ways than one. Meliodas was crushed that his favorite childhood hero turned out to be a girl, while Yamato, AKA Jake, was stunned, until he saw the Brand of the Exalt on her eye, and realized she really was Lucina. Overtime, she became closer to Yamato. So much so, that when they, along with Meliodas (and Lillia) defeated Grima in her world, her bond with the little saiyan gave her the strength to avenge her parents. Now, since she was the one Hero I finally summoned after Askr knows how long, she fights alongside Yamato in the Order of Heroes.

2.) Corrin - Lucina's girlfriend, Corrin is very kind to Yamato. She pats his head, she lets him lay on her lap, comforts him, holds him close in her arms as if he's…a baby, and she calls him by his given name, rather than his birth name. Simply put, she's basically like a big sister to Yamato. She stated that herself in her second 5-star voice dialogue!

3.) Celica - Yamato's great-great…uhh…great-grandmother. Despite that fact, that's been my headcanon for my Seven Deadly Sins fan story for a few months, Celica has been more of a mother to her little descendant. She can be sweet and gentle when off the battlefield, but on the battlefield, she will not hesitate to defend her baby from the enemy.

4.) Alm - Yamato's great-great…uhh…great-grandfather. After learning that Veronica has Alm under her contract, Yamato was horrified and angry. But due to not having his powers, he was unable to fight back. And when he did manage to free Alm, he begged his great ancestor to join him. Nowadays, Alm is fighting for his descendant's cause, with Celica by their side.

And their you have it. Those are the four Heroes my summoner is close to. One half took till Valentine's Day, the other half required a trade offer, but in all, I love them. They are my Favorites Emblem. My OC's family, since his earth family is still fighting for their lives!

NOTE: Please read Niles’ skinship lines here! (THANK YOU TERRA FOR FINDING THEM HOLY FUCK) The first few are kinda fucky, but the last ones are so sweet. And this fic/drabble draws from those lines, so…. (I literally teared up just rereading them now)

It was a calm night. The stars shone in the deep blue sky, drowned out only by the bright light of the crescent moon. A small breeze blew by the castle, sweeping in through your open bedroom window.

Your bed was empty; the sheets untouched and cold. Instead, you sat in the chair at your desk, writing a letter to hero you had sent home earlier that day.

It was quiet tonight. So you acknowledged the sound of a pair of footsteps getting closer and closer to your closed door.

The sound stopped right outside your door, and you looked over expectantly. Putting down your pen, you moved to get out of the chair when you heard an almost inaudible voice come from the other side.

“(Y/N)?”

You perked up at the sound of your name, wrapping your robe tighter around your body as you moved from your chair and over to the door.

“Yeah?”

“…..May I come in?”

You reached forward and twisted the doorknob, opening the wooden barricade to reveal a familiar shadow standing in the hallway. He quickly moved into your room, and you felt a pair of arms wrap around your waist and a head bury itself into your neck.

“Niles?” You said quietly, placing your arms around his back and rubbing it gently. This was certainly out of character for him.

“I… must apologize for my s-sudden appearance. I-”

“-woah hey, Niles, it’s alright.”

You pulled away from him so you could see his face in the dim moonlight pouring in from your open window. And you were greeted by a pale face; his eye slightly puffy and red. You could hear something in his voice, and you were frankly very concerned. The fearless Niles was crying?

You reached behind him as best as you could, pushing the door shut behind him as you lead him further into your bedroom. Concern washed over you as your hand came up to wipe away the tear from his face.

“What happened? What’s wrong?”

The fearless Niles held himself together quite well, not even sniffling as he looked at you. But his eye was frantic, searching your face for something as you saw more tears well up in his ocean blue orb.

He didn’t respond to you. It seemed like he was trying to hard to hold himself together. He was cold, and drenched in sweat; his hair matted to his forehead.

You thought about what might be wrong, and you pieced together the answer.

“…..Niles, did you have a nightmare?”

You felt something on your hand, and quickly realized it was his own wrapping around yours. And in that moment, your heart shattered.

“Why don’t you stay with me tonight? I was just heading to bed. It’s big enough for the both of us.”

Keeping his hand in yours, you pulled him over to the bed and let him sit down. You parted from him briefly, walking over to the other side and climbing in. You sat down, and immediately turned to him with your arms spread open. He didn’t move, for a moment. But eventually, with a shaky breath, he moved over to you and into your arms. You looked at him and smiled softly.

“I don’t know what you saw that scared you, and I will never truly understand your experiences or nightmares, but.. I can be here for you when memories come back.”

You raised your hand to move his matted hair off his forehead; moving the long locks away from his eye so you could fully see his face. He seemed to be calming down a bit now.

You felt his fingers curl around yours, and you held on tightly.

“All of what you have seen is in the past now, love. You’re strong; and you have friends all around you. Nobody is going to hurt you again; I swear it.”

His voice was corse and raspy. Quiet.

“Thank you..”

You pulled him closer to you, planting a kiss on the soft fabric of his eyepatch. He seemed to melt at your touch, relaxing into your body.

It was strange, not hearing any of his usual sass or sexual remarks. Whatever nightmare he had; whatever he saw in his dream… must have scared him nearly to death.

“I love you Niles.”

Your thumb moved along his cheek, moving over the patch softly. Carefully, you moved the tip of your thumb under the fabric, tugging on it slightly as you pulled it up and over his head, revealing the moist area underneath.

He didn’t react negatively. In fact, he barely reacted at all. He let you continue without protest, closing his other eye as you tugged the patch off.

A tear fell from the corner of the missing eye, swiftly rolling down his cheek and dipping onto the blankets below.

His good eye opened, revealing his beautiful blue orb. You let his eyepatch fall, landing on the pillow with a soft plop. Your hand came back up, placing your palm on his cheek once again. You ran your thumb over his eyelid as gently as you possibly could. He nuzzled into your hand, enjoying the soft and caring touch.

“You must be tired. Let’s get some sleep. We don’t have to wake up for anything tomorrow morning, so don’t worry.” You smiled softly at him again, and he opened his eye to look at you. It was filled with pain.

“I watched you die. And I was alone all over again. I was back in those wretched streets…. I… It was my fault… I… I couldn’t handle it….!”

Gods, you nearly felt a tear run down your own cheek. The man was broken, tears running down his face as he came to you and told you he watched you die.

“Oh, Niles…” You said quietly, your hand coming away from his face to bring him back in an embrace. But before you could even get close, his other hand darted up to grab yours, pulling you into him as he smashed his mouth against yours.

His lips tasted salty from the tears, but you didn’t mind. The two of you danced slowly; a moonlit embrace.

The both of you eventually reluctantly pulled away. But it was… breathtaking. You looked at him, searching his face to see if he was still in distress. Thankfully, he seemed…. alright now. You brought his hand up to your lips, and you kissed his knuckles, your thumb rubbing circles into the back of his hand.

“Cmon, let’s sleep.”

“…Alright….”

You pulled the blankets up, letting the both of you get more comfortable. You made sure he laid down, comfortable on the pillows. You shifted so you sat up beside him, and giving a small, cheeky smile, you leaned down and placed another quick kiss on his eyelid; soft and loving.

You moved to lay down beside him, lying on your back at first before you rolled over onto your side to face him. He let out another shaky breath, turning to face you as well. You gave him a reassuring smile.

“It’ll be alright, ok? Here…” You took his hand in yours one more time, holding it infront of the both of you.

“I’ll be right here when you wake up. I promise. And if you have another nightmare, just remember I’m here, alright?”

“…Ok…” He said, the corners of his lips turning upright slightly. This made your smile grow.

“Alright, sleep well, my love.”

“Goodnight…”

It was silent for a few moments, the both of you shutting your eyes and attempting to find that comfortable place of unconscious.

Another few minutes passed, and your breathing seemed to slow. Niles’ eye stayed on your sleep face; so many thoughts racing through his mind. How did someone as wonderful as you end up liking him? What did he do to deserve you?

He spoke softly, as not to wake you. He was calm, now. But his heart was still heavy.

“If I were to wake up and see you beside me… I’ll be okay. Please stay by my side… and… never let go of my hand, no matter what happens….”

He closed his heavy eyelid, relaxing fully into the soft bed below.

“I love you, more then anyone ever before… and I will always love you, with all of my being. I promise.”

And with that, he felt into a dreamless sleep by your side.

Fighting Against Fate - 1st Summons

She’s never been anything special - never been good at anything, really. It’s hard to excel when you’re constantly told you’re a disappointment.

So being pulled through a magical gateway and called the ‘Summoner of Legend’ is a bit hard to swallow. But hard to believe or not, Kiran sets herself to the task - she’ll do whatever she can to help Askr and the Order of Heroes.

And maybe, maybe, prove herself useful - at least to herself.

A/N: Eventual Kiran/Hrid, and I do mean eventual. Hi guys - you know how I said I had hit a slump? Well, apparently that pissed my muses off, cause I then managed to write two chapters in a day. Not idea how, but not complaining.

Have some more Fire Emblem fic, though this time it’s Heroes based, and it’s going to deal both with the pairing mentioned above and multiple FE Heroes from multiple games/timelines. I have lots of ideas and no real idea how it’s all going to play out.

S’gonna be fun. Why do I do this to myself?

Kiran can tell Anna’s disappointed before she even opens her mouth. It’s what she’s good at, after all - being a disappointment.

You need to study harder if you want to keep up! Honestly, girl-

-but it is what it is, and she’s here, wherever here is. She’d just been studying, working at her tome skills, and then suddenly there’d been a portal and - tada.

“Oh Great Hero from another world! Thou hast come so far to fulfill your role in our legend! For our kingdom now stands on the very brink of ruin, and thou, and thou, hold on…”

The redhead’s eyes narrow, her lips turn down, and Kiran has to resist the urge to pull her hood up further, already practically hiding beneath the over-sized coat - another point of contention, your clothes are too big, why do you wear that-

“I don’t know.” she responds, swallowing the automatic sorry that tries to come out, “There was a portal, and now I’m here… where is here? Did you summon me?”

Later, maybe, she’ll congratulate herself on not stuttering, but now’s not the time.

“Fair enough.” the redhead sighs, scowling, “My names Anna. I’m the Commander of the Order of Heroes. We believe that heroes should live free. Our enemies, however, enslave them… the fiends.”

Kiran frowns, trying to follow what she’s saying. “Um… Heroes? From…?”

“From other Worlds. This realm has gateways to the worlds where Heroes come from.” Anna explains, speaking as though everything she’s said is logical - and maybe, here, it is. “Have you heard of the World of Awakening?”

“Can’t say that I have…”

“That’s alright - there are many different worlds, too many to name, really. The Emblian Empire invades those worlds and binds their Heroes to service. We fight for their freedom!”

Okay… these are the good guys, at least. “I… see.”

“The Emblian Empire will be trying to invade our Kingdom soon, Askr.” Anna’s frowning again, stare calculating, “I was desperate for help… so I performed a summoning ceremony. And you just appeared out of nowhere.”

Oh, no. Kiran’s heart drops. They were trying to find a Summoner.

She’s met a few, in the past, but she’d never even glanced at a Summoning Tome, let alone trained in how to use one! She’d been brought here by mistake-

“Lucky us! But there’s no time to rest. We have to act fast if we’re going to save our kingdom!”

Shit.

“Anna, I’m sorry, I don’t think I can help-”

“First things first.” Anna’s clearly not listening as she unhooks something from her side, holding it out, “I summoned you here with the divine Breidablik - that’s the name of this relic I’ve brought. It fire’s something out of it, according to legend - but it doesn’t look like any bow I’ve ever seen.”

It’s a gun. Kiran stares at the thing, startled to see something so familiar and yet so startlingly alien - it’s shaped like a gun, but the designs on it are clearly purposeful.

“The legend also calls it the ‘true key’, which, if raised high, will summon the Great Hero who can fire it.” Anna eyes her another moment, then winks, holding the item out, “That’s what I did, and now you’re here. So it’s all yours now. Hopefully you can figure out how to-”

“THERE SHE IS! GET HER!”

Kiran jumps at the shouting, whirling around to see a gaggle of soldiers rushing towards them - soldiers dressed in different colours then Anna.

“Drat, Emblian soldiers. I can’t defeat them by myself - do you have any weapons?”

“N-no, my tome didn’t come through the portal-” shit, shit, shit!

“Figures. You run while I hold them off!” Anna thrusts the relic into her hands, pulling her ax off her back as she does, “Take Breidablik and get out of here, Kiran!”

“But-”

-nothing but a coward, running away-

“I can’t just leave you here-!”

“I said run-!”

A flash of light makes them both freeze, staring down at the relic in her grasp as it pulses again - warm, soothing energy vibrating out of it, setting her nerves on fire.

It’s a gun - wield it like a gun! Point the thing and pull the trigger!

Clenching her teeth, Kiran grips the relic with both hands and aims, sucking in a harsh breath before firing - a burst of light shooting out from the weapon, solidifying a few feet in front of them-

-and taking the form of a young man with long silver-grey hair and a glowing bow gripped in one hand, his stance that of a practiced archer as he glances back at them.

“I’m Takumi, a prince of Hoshido and wielder of the divine Fujin Yumi.” he greets, eyeing them, “You summoned me?”

“You… you just picked it up, and you already summoned a Hero!” Anna’s as bewildered as she is, snapped back to attention by the shouts of the incoming soldiers, “Arg, no time to chat! This Takumi and I have some fighting to do!”

“I, ah… I summoned you!” Kiran speaks up when she sees the newcomer still watching her, motioning frantically to the incoming enemies, “We need help with these enemies! Please!”

“You summoned me.” he grunts, lifting his bow and drawing an arrow from thin air, “That means I am at your command. Stay out of the way.”

“We’ve got this, Kiran!” Anna says, charging in as an arrow flies ahead of her, the two of them getting to work.

Kiran only watches from afar, hugging the Breidablik to her chest.

Maybe… maybe this wasn’t a mistake.

Life falls into a sort of pattern, following that first battle.

Anna is nearly upbeat once they’ve defeated the soldiers, and while Takumi is still somewhat aloof, he seems slightly more amicable as time goes on.

Prince Alfonse and Princess Sharena help immensely - they’re both friendly and welcoming, happy to have any sort of help, thrilled that Kiran is able to use the Breidablik.

I won’t use it more than needed, she tells them, once they’ve gone over all of the details about their enemy, If I use it more than necessary, I’m not better than the Emblians.

To her surprise, they’d all agreed with her, and had begun working on plans to free the bound Heroes - starting with Minerva, during an ambush on the Castle.

Takumi is an asset, though she can tell he’s missing home - possibly missing someone as well, if I’m reading his sighs correctly.

She’d never been the best student, maybe, but she’d always been a good judge of character - and good at reading people. A gift and a curse, when you knew you were a disappointment to those around you.

Stop it, Kiran. Don’t think about that. She shakes herself from her thoughts, sighing and raising the Breidablik, You’re not there anymore - you’re here, in Askr, where you can help. Don’t dwell on it.

She’s in the Summoning courtyard, where the Gateways Anna had spoken about would connect when opened. Only two stood open, currently - and she knew which she was going to summon from.

Hopefully, it will be someone Takumi is missing.

Kiran takes a breath, grips the relic with both hands, and squeezes the trigger, pushed back a step from the force of the blast.

Just like before, a light spirals out of the relic - blue, this time, expanding and settling onto the summoning platform, fading slowly away to reveal the figure beneath.

It’s a woman this time - with pale, pale blonde hair and red eyes - looking momentarily startled before those red eyes land on her, and she smiles.

“I’m Corrin - born in Hoshido, though raised in Nohr.” she greets, stepping down off of the platform, “I will fight for you with my Yato blade and dragon power!”

“Glad to have you, Corrin.” Kiran returns, biting her lip, “Do you, ah, happen to know Takumi, by any chance…?”

The way Corrin’s body freezes and her eyes go wide gives her answer long before she actually speaks, though the excited edge to her voice makes Kiran think that this had been a very, very good idea.

“I do know a Takumi, he’s - well, he might be… is he here?”

Corrin’s nearly wringing her hands together, anxious excitement in her eyes, and Kiran can’t help it - she finds herself smiling in the face of that infectious joy.

“Come on.” she says, turning, “Let’s go see.”

The dragon princess talks while they walk - giving a few small details about her world, her abilities - going suddenly silent as they enter the throne room, eyes locked on one very recognizable figure at the head of the room.

“Takumi.” Corrin whispers, clearly restraining herself in case it’s not her Takumi, prompting Kiran to clear her throat.

Loudly.

“Ah-hem. Takumi! We have a new Hero!”

“So-?”

The silver haired man turns and pauses, staring wide eyed for a moment. Then he’s sprinting down the steps at the same time as Corrin is darting forwards, stopping maybe a foot apart to just stare at each other, wondering.

It’s only when Takumi lifts a shaky hand, brushing it over her cheek, that Corrin snaps and launches herself at him with a cry, clinging to him for all she’s worth.

Kiran respectfully turns her gaze away, happy for (and a little envious of) the two, glad that the other members of the Order aren’t in the room.

It’s only when she hears footsteps and a quiet laugh that she turns back, grinning at the sight of them; holding hands, looking maybe a bit frazzled - but so, so happy.

“I can’t believe you managed to summon her.” Takumi admits, looking sheepish, “But… thanks. I know I’m bound by the summons anyways, but - I’ll fight, wherever you need me to.”

“I’m the same. You brought us back together.” Corrin shoots the man a grin, then nods to Kiran, “Whatever you need.”

“I didn’t do it for the thanks, but I appreciate that. Just happy to help.” Kiran shrugs, still finding their smiles infectious, “I’m assuming you’ll be sharing a room, then?”

The blushes that earns her is worth any embarrassment she might feel.

Kiran stays true to her word of only summoning more heroes when she has to - and unfortunately, Embla’s encroaching armies forces her to use the Breidablik several more times in the coming weeks.

She manages to pull another married couple with her next two shots - this time from Ylisse, Prince Chrom and his wife, Robin - amicable people who are more than willing to help with their cause.

She goes back to the portal to Hoshido the next two times, and both summons surprise her - the first a child that Corrin had mentioned, a young boy named Kana that’s immediately excited to see her and then his parents -

And then Queen Mikoto, who - but she would have sworn that - isn’t she dead-

Mikoto must see her expression behind her hood, because she smiles - a soft, motherly expression, the type that soothes all your nerves - and settles a hand on Kiran’s shoulder, saying simply “Different worlds, dear.”

Different worlds. Kiran stares for a moment, eyes going wide when it clicks. Different worlds… and didn’t versions of worlds! I didn’t even think about-!

Which tells her that in Corrin and Takumi’s world, she is dead… but then what would they…

Oh, God… only one way to find out…

She leads Mikoto to the throne room, giving the usual spiel she’s come up with for new heroes - Anna’s Commander, Alfonse is mostly in charge, I just summon people and point the way - somewhat glad when the Hoshidan’s aren’t there, motioning the way to their private quarters.

A more private reunion, this way.

She can hear Kana inside the room, and knocks twice before stepping back, leaving Mikoto the central figure in the doorway.

Kana flings the door open, blinking in surprise at the woman in the doorway, before turning and yelling “Mama! Papa! There’s a ghost!”

“A what?!”

Corrin’s in the doorway almost immediately, staring in shock at the black haired woman.

Mikoto only smiles gently, opening her arms. “Corrin - I am so, so happy to see you again, my beautiful daughter.”

“M-mother!”

Kiran takes her leave then, not wanting to snoop on their reunion, telling everyone to leave them be for a while.

Corrin finds her later, eyes a bit puffy from crying, but smile brighter than she’s ever seen. “Thank you, Kiran.” she says, bowing, “You don’t know how much this means to me - to both Takumi and I.”

“No thanks needed.” Kiran shrugs, feeling awkward.

“Still, if there’s anything you ever need…”

Kiran eyes the sword at the woman’s side then, biting her lip. Can’t hurt to ask.

“Can you teach me how to use a sword?”

Corrin blinks at her, clearly not expecting that answer. “You want me to teach you?”

A nod. “Let’s face it - I’m a target, standing at the back with the Breidablik. And I can barely fight - I only know a few spells with a tome. So I figure, if I can learn how to fight - even just enough to defend myself - it would just, I donno. Keep me from being a burden on everyone.”

“You’re not a burden.” Corrin says, lifting a hand to stop her retort, “Believe me, if anyone understands feeling that way, it’s me. Trust me; you’re not. But if that’s what you want, then yes; I’ll teach you how to use a sword.” the dragon princess grins, fangs flashing, “Just don’t expect me to go easy on you, oh mighty Summoner!”

Kiran flinches at the title, but laughs along with her, feeling just slightly better. “Thank you, Corrin - I’ll do my best to keep up!”

If I can fight… if I can defend myself, maybe I can be of some use.

The next summon is from Ylisse, and Kiran almost sends them immediately back.

She thinks it’s Robin again, at first - another version? This’ll be fun - but the waves of dark energy rising off of the figure and the way they seem to float just off of the ground make her shoulders tense, whole body going stiff as red eyes lock onto her.

“I am the wings of despair.” the figure breathes, voice a strained version of the Robin’s she knows, “I am the breath of ruin… I am the fell dragon, Grima.”

The figure alights before her, reaching out a hand to tilt her chin up, and a sly smirk creeps over their lips, “Pay me the respect I am due, and when your time comes, I will be merciful.”

“Grima.” Kiran repeats, taking a step back and gripping Breidablik tighter - an action that draws the woman’s attention, making her smirk slip into a scowl.

“A relic - I see. So I am summoned and bound, then.” Grima-Robin crosses her arms, watching her, “So then, Summoner - to what end have you beckoned a fell dragon into your midst?”

Kiran forces herself to breathe, standing as tall as she’s able to - keeping tight hold of the Breidablik, stealing her expression into a neutral grimace.

“We are at war, with an empire that binds Heroes into slavery.” she keeps her voice steady, does her best to be compelling, “We need all the help - all the power - we can get. What better ally against such an enemy, then a fell dragon?”

Grima is silent for a moment, staring her down, before she throws her head back and laughs - not pleasant laughter, more of a sinister, echoing cackle that sends chills down her spine.

“Oh, I like you, little Summoner.” the fell dragon chuckles, making a show of bowing, “You have my power at your disposal, so long as we fight this enemy of yours - I must warn you, though, I don’t play well with others.”

“I’ll make sure you have a private room.” Kiran promises, making a mental note to have it in the furthest, highest possible corner of the castle. “One main rule: no fighting with anyone in this Castle. If they’ve been summoned by me, they are allies - if nothing else, be civil. Please.”

“Well, since you ask so nicely…”

I am so going to regret this…

Between sword lessons with Corrin, magic lessons with Robin, and just in general trying to keep up with the war and keep all of the Heroes safe and in check, Kiran is exhausted.

She retreats to her own rooms on the few occasions that she gets - granted to her by Alfonse, a decent sized suite with her own washroom (there’s no running water, how is there a shower?? Ah, never mind) and a view out over the courtyard.

Hiding on one such a day and fighting off a migraine, Kiran sits on her bed and pulls her coat into her lap, examining the changes to it.

She hadn’t noticed at first, but coming through that initial portal into Askr had added several emblems to it - golden detailing that matched that of Alfonse, Sharena and Anna, including a swooping line along the hood.

They’d also given her a hair ornament to fit with both her status as Grand Summoner and the Order of Heroes - gold and made of fine lines intertwined, the same as the decals on her coat.

You’re not a disappointment here. She thinks, glancing at the Breidablik - sitting inconspicuously on her nightstand - and closing her eyes for a moment, sighing. They actually care - even the Heroes. You have… friends.

But what happens when the War ends?

That makes her heart stop for a moment, anxiety rising before she shakes her head and forces the thoughts away.

That’s a long way off, yet. And besides… who says you have to leave?

The Breidablik pulses on her table, and Kiran stands, shrugging the coat back on and pulling the hood up. She’s gotten better at reading it’s reactions - a pulse like that means there’s someone in a world that needs to be summoned, for whatever reason.

“Well, then.” she takes up the relic, smiling a little, “Let’s get to work.”

a/n: Some fluffy little Ryoma headcanons for a friend of mine whose a bit under the weather. i didn’t specifiy who the reader is so feel free to see the reader as corrin or the summoner from heroes.

Ryoma is pretty well versed in how to help other’s when they are sick. Being an older sibling Ryoma took it upon himself to learn how to take care of his family when one of them came down with a cold.

Ryoma = your own personal doctor. You will not lift a single finger at all today if he has any say in the matter. No leading an army, no pouring over strategy books, and no meet and greets with the other members of the army.

You are on strict bed rest on orders from Ryoma who has placed several blankets on your form to help you sweat out the cold and to keep the shivers at bay.

Ryoma isn’t the least bit frightened at catching you’re cold. He’ll just laugh it off and lay down right next to you. With you nestled snug against his chest as he talks about whatever crosses his mind. Nothing work related, just silly little stories and the like.

Keeps your hair out of your face, and wipes the sweat from your brow. Will mess it up with a big smile on his face if it’ll get you to laugh and smile as well.

Will give you a little kiss on the forehead once you're able to finally fall into a deep and restful slumber.

“Rest well my love.”
