@chrisrin’s gem au is consuming the life series fandom and I am not exempt. Enjoy a corrupted Tango

[image ID: a drawing of the aforementioned corrupted Tango. He is a wingless dragon-like creature that stands on all fours with claws on his forelegs and paws on his hind legs. He has a body shape somewhat similar to that of a wolf or a tiger, with broad shoulders and a big chest that tapers sharply just before the hind legs. He has bull-like horns on top of his head. His mouth has jagged edges comprised of sharp triangles meant to mimic big spooky fangs. He has overlapping diamond scales along his back, sides, hind legs, and tail. His tail is modeled after a pangolin, and is long and thick in width, but almost flat. Flying out/off of his mouth and neck are bright flames. He’s mostly red and orange with dark grey shoulders, scales, and horns. He’s got stylized stripes and spots all over him, but especially on his sides/ribs and arms. Bonus rambling about my design Thoughts because I want to:

Honestly most of it is just looking at an animal and thinking “yeah that has Tango energy”; notably:

Pangolin (tail + scales)

Tiger (general body shape + stripes (and lil paws!!)

Bull (horns)

I also thought about adding some armadillo lizard in there? Because again,, the vibes - but honestly that’s pretty well covered with the pangolin lol

Most of his markings are also meant to mimic chrisrin’s design! I pretty much just slapped some extra stuff on top for the corruption, since carnelian can have little veins and spots in it sometimes. I honestly didn’t look at references for super long so they’re not super accurate to what those look like in the actual gemstone but whatever. They look cool. Also I gave him freckles because I can and they’re cute.

I changed the colors because, tbh, they clashed with the fire I drew LMAO. But! Also carnelian can be very orange and corruption changes the colors of gems sometimes anyway (if I remember right, at least).

I tried to mimic the au art style to an extent but I have never been good an mimicking styles lol so it didn’t exactly turn out. I don’t think it’s too far off though! Especially in the design itself. The big ol’ chompers is definitely su energy

MCYT Yuri Week; Day Two - AU/ Post Canon

"You loved me?"

Being wanted for your own murder was something Gem never once thought she’d have to deal with, let alone welcome the accusations. It certainly made her job easier, even if she’d prefer not being hated by nearly every faction.

When she goes to an old ally for help, long kept secrets are revealed in a way neither expected.

Gem knew contacting the villains was risky. She knew it would only push the public’s opinion of her further from vigilante than it had ever been.

(She knew having to face her old friend, twisted into someone dark from rage and grief, would hurt more than leaving her behind the first time.)

But it was something she had to do. If she wanted to take down the organisation, if she wanted to stop anyone else from becoming like her, Boatem was her best chance. She just hoped they’d send anyone for the meeting except-

“You’ve got some nerve, Refraction. Asking us, asking me for help, after what you’ve done?”

“Eclipse. I thought I was going to speak with Conductor.”

Gem kept her voice even despite the knife at her throat. Refraction didn’t show emotion. Refraction couldn’t show any form of weakness. Maybe she would come clean after her job was done, but it was safer for everyone if she remained detached.

“He decided to let me take the lead on this. My first real mission as one of them, deciding whether we help you…” The knife pressed further into her throat, a trickle of blood warm against the cool of the night. Gem tried to pretend the thumping of her heart was from adrenaline. “Or whether you bleed out right here, right now.”

She let out a long laugh, high with a hint of madness, and nothing like the warmth her laughter used to hold. But it wasn’t productive to think about the past. Not yet.

“Is this how Inferno felt? When you trapped her in a burning building? I’m sure you thought it was all very ironic, or maybe you thought it was justice,” Eclipse hissed into her ear. “You make me sick.”

“I don’t see how she’s relevant to this. Villains aren’t supposed to be attached to heroes, and you don’t have to like me to give me the information I need.”

In a moment Eclipse had withdrawn the knife, flipping her onto the ground with a force that took the air from her lungs, showing nothing but rage as she shoved a knee into her chest to keep her down.

“Inferno was a better person than you’ll ever be. If anyone would have been able to change the system from inside it would have been her. But you robbed her of the chance to even try.”

“Inferno was an idiot!” Gem shouted, anger shattering her carefully even tone. “She was just another pawn for the heroes, never once questioning them! She wouldn’t have changed anything!”

Admittedly, it wasn’t a smart idea to piss off the villain currently in a murderous mood, but she couldn’t stand the thought of being martyred. She hadn’t ‘died’ a hero, in any sense of the word, and she’d certainly never been smart enough to see through the cracks of the organisation in life.

The knife slashed across her face and she had to scramble to keep her mask attached, caring more for her identity than the wound itself.

“I was going to get her out.” Eclipse’s voice was flat. She was never calm, always full of emotions, and the emptiness was almost scarier than her mania. “We had a plan. It was just a matter of waiting for the right time to explain things. Then you took that chance away.”

“Why do you even care? She wasn’t your partner, and I know you wouldn’t be this worked up if it was someone like Glacier.”

“I care because I loved her!”

The world stopped. Eclipse’s breath was harsh and her eyes were wide, like she hadn’t meant to admit it, but the words seemed to echo through the otherwise quiet night. Gem couldn’t help the response that slipped out.

“You… you loved me?”

After a pause, a devastatingly long moment in which they were the only two people in the world, Eclipse reached down to tug away her mask.

“...Spark? You’re- why didn’t you tell me? You let me think you were dead, I was about to kill you for- for murdering yourself!”

Gem allowed herself a moment before she acted. A moment to imagine reaching up, pulling Eclipse, Ray, Golden, whichever of the thousand little nicknames they’d come up with together, into a hug so tight they could never separate again.

The moment passed.

She shoved Eclipse off her, scrambling up and pulling the crystal from her neck to hold it towards the sky. The moonlight shone through it and she used her power to amplify it until it was blinding.

By the time it cleared, Gem was gone.

Conductor delivered the information she needed three days later.

okay okay i have like 3 esmp s2 corrupted gems

(god killer)

context: saint pearl is the same as hc s9 pearl. she also has three champions which she bestowed some of her powers to. gem (dimension hopping/sun), katherine (combat/night), sausage (plants/dimensions hopping)

gem always knew she had some level of control over dimensional rifts and felt stronger in the daytime. so naturally, she explores the limits of her powers and then does the reasonable thing and kills sausage to have sole power of dimensions. then kills katherine because night was in direction opposition of her. pearl is mad cause she just killed two of her champions so she comes over through the rift, but gem kills her and becomes a god

(apple of discord)

context: made this after the festival, but before the hermits came through the rift. in this au the rift doesn't open at all

during the ancient city raid gem finds an enchanted golden apple. shows it to katherine, false, and lizzie. they all want it for their own reasons. katherine (remove her curse), false (restore her memory), lizzie (for her community center). dispite all that she gives it to shelby. katherine/false/lizzie all come asking for it and shelby decides to pick at the festival

instead if choosing anyone tho she uses it to beat up joey (for katherine's love) false and lizze sees this as shelby ultimately choosing katherine (even though she got nothing out of it) and false gets really upset and starts a full on war. gem plays all sides of the war until she reveal she found 2 enchanted golden apples and the ending can just be gem chooses your favorite blorbo to win the war

(object permanence)

after coming up from the deep dark gem doesn't think anything big really happend but every step she takes has some sculk left behide. she is also now starting to see blue flames in the distance/corner of her eye. her kingdom is slowly infected by sculk and then blames cub/shelby (even though she saw the sculk before either of them interacted with sculk. gem confides in sausage (making sure to put all the blame on shelby) and sausage tells her about sainta pearla and how she was basically the sun incarnate. gem goes home and starts a church for sainta pearla to try and ward off the sculk. this doesn't work so she makes special sunglasses which makes it so nobody can see the sculk that is now firmly overtaking her base. and that's the real reason she wants everyone to wear these sunglasses. eventually after shelby gets cured she comes over (no sunglasses) and confronts gem. she gets her to take off her sunglasses and really see how bad she let it get. and then runs away to hermitcraft so she doesn't have to deal with her problems

So I saw su fanart, and my braincell was lik "what if that was an au" and that's how I came up with these drawings lol. Can you tell I had fun with the size difference? XDD (Gonna ramble about au below)

Okayy so Justin is Green Diamond and Lawrence is a Lazulite. I don't know anything about lazulites. I literally just search a gem with the letter L loll and chose the one that looked cool.

Anywayss what I thought was a particular corrupted gem has been causing discord by destroying supplies, property, and he's been hurting other gems. So this particular corrupted gem is disrupting progress and order, and Green Diamond fuckin hates that shitt. So he organizes a group of strong gems to hunt down this particular corrupted gem and capture him. That's where Lazulite comes in. He was selected and is the latest members. He is introduced to Green Diamond and has never seen him before. Idk maybe Green Diamond doesn't go out often I have no fuckin idea. Lazulite is enamoured by his beauty and becomes determined to know him jskjsksk

I don't actually know how they get together, but they do or something. I don't know how to build their relationship casually lmaoo.

I did thought that later on Lazulite learns more about the particular corrupted gem and becomes conflicted as he can not bring himself to capture him, but if he doesn't, he fears disappointing Green Diamond.

not good at drawing Steven Univers-type designs (yet) but sometimes I think about the concept of Aki and Angel both having gems on their backs — weapon storage for Aki/wings for Angel, vulnerable to betrayal, fighting at each others’ backs, etc — and I’m briefly abnormal about it.

#Aki’s would be on the back of his head/neck (bit of a gem undercut vibe idk) with Angel’s being like Lapis Lazuli’s. wings baby!!#CSM canon humans are human-gem hybrids — which are usually manufactured to be earth delegates/socialized as gems #or something. idk.
