The Official Story of what happened to Human Sunset Shimmer, at least in GLAB.

The Multiverse is vast and varied. It could be as different as the dominant species being Hedgehogs or Ponies or as minute as ordering soup instead of a salad. But there are worlds similar to another, where the exact same things will happen unless interfered by an outside source. Sometimes happening at the same time. And sometimes in a world’s future or past. This is a tale of one of those universes...

In a world where bipedal humans ruled, Sunset Shimmer was born. She was really smart but it pales in comparison to her creativity. If you give her a tool of creation, her work would have blown other people’s minds. But when it came to making friends, she was more happy living in her fantasy world than in real life: a world where she would be a unicorn and frolic around. And it got worse when both her parents sadly passed away.

When she was told she would be moving to a Foster Home, she would run away to Canterlot High School. She was hiding behind the statue when a light flashed before her eyes. When she went to see what it was, it was another Sunset Shimmer. She was shocked to see a duplicate, especially one that came from a statue. So when the Adults who were looking for Sunset found her, they mistakenly took the Pony version.

Now alone again, she touched the wall where the other Sunset Shimmer came out and was sucked in. After a while, she emerged from the other side. When she came to, she realized she was a Unicorn. It was just like she dreamed about. Before she could get more excited, Princess Celestia walked up to her. Sunset didn’t know how to act, so she went with “uh... Hi tall Pony Lady..?”

Celestia had a sad look on her face. She could tell right away that this was not the Sunset Shimmer she knew. She did welcome this new Sunset though, letting her know of the location and what is happening. To sum it up, Human Sunset entered just in time for the Mirror to be closed for the next thirty moons. Human Sunset didn’t seem to mind as there was nothing left for her in that world.

So Celestia enlisted her in the School for Gifted Unicorns to help her out. Sadly, while she mastered the unicorn levitation and teleportation spells, she wasn’t really that good in magic compared to her pony counterpart. Not to mention she was more itching to explore this new world than to be cooped up in class. So with a heavy heart, Celestia allowed Sunset to travel across Equestria.

She went to the big sights to see and enjoyed every moment she could. It was during a trip to Manehattan where she would find her first real friends: Vater Hammer and Sparkling Keys. They were looking for a third bandmate and Sunset Shimmer auditioned. She killed the audition so badly, they wanted her to be the lead member of the group. And the Poneys were formed.

As part of a traveling music group, she can travel Equestria and be creative through music. It was the perfect dream. But dreams change and she had a new one: to get the Poneys to be Equestria’s Number One Rock Band. Can they do it? Only time will tell...

Wendip Week 2019 - results!

Yes, after a month of suggesting prompts and voting on them, here are the results of the Wendip Week 2019!

Here are the 7 winning prompts!

...ah, yes, this is what I get for putting links to gifs first, and text second. But fear not, here are the actual results:

Day 1 - “This is fun, what you two have”

Day 2 - “Why are you wearing my clothes?”

Day 3 - “We have each other now”

Day 4 - “I always kinda knew”

Day 5 - “You mean a lot to me, man”

Day 6 - “Wendy, you’re the coolest person I know”

And the prompt with most number of votes is...

I musty say, you guys went for Wendip classics. No wonder, since 6/7 of these were suggested by @ddp456 who lives and breathes Wendip and knows it like no one other.

where you can create anything you want, for any of the unused prompts, or other ideas at all.

And so, in seven weeks’ time, we’ll see you during Wendip Week 2019! It will take place from 23rd - 31st of July, so you have almost two months to think how you’ll fill the prompts.

And if you can’t think of any, then get inspiration. Go for a walk, climb a mountain, watch horrible black and white Z movies, defeat a zombie or two, or have a nice, refreshing sip of Pitt Cola.

Are you ready for Wendip Week ‘19?

Hey all, @ddp456 here, and along with my buddy and co-conspirator, @nautiscarader. we wanted to try something a bit different for this year’s Wendip Week writing prompts. Y’know, something a bit special to spark the creative juices ̶a̶n̶d̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶'̶c̶a̶u̶s̶e̶ ̶w̶e̶'̶r̶e̶ ̶s̶a̶d̶i̶s̶t̶i̶c̶ ̶b̶a̶s̶t̶a̶r̶d̶s̶.̶ ̶

Instead of doing the “tried and true” random prompts, we would like to use our favourite quotes from the Gravity Falls series itself for inspiration. It would go without saying that we would like to focus on lines from our favourite duo themselves.

However, it must be said that in this particular case, context is NOT king. In fact, the more vague of a quote, the more open-ended of a response one can create.

Sure, there can be a more driven point we can use for a story:

But one could also twist the wording ever so slightly, creating a different meaning than what was meant in the show:

You can use a favorite Wendy or Dipper quote to further explore their psyches:

Or use a line to further explore a new angle that the show never bothered to reveal among its many,many secrets:

Or as a celebration of their shared bond:

Or craft new adventures based on a stand-out phrase:

Or even discover something so simple, that its meaning can be applied near-universally:

Hell, you can even go for a whopper, and deliver a masterpiece taken from one of the show’s hilarious rants:

Granted, while we would prefer keeping the quotes to Wendy and Dipper, we wouldn’t necessarily turn a blind eye (mind the pun) to an neat idea as long as it comes back to our favorite pair; no matter how tender the moment:

In two weeks time, we will be opening up a poll for the quotes above (and those created by @nautiscarader), but in the meantime, if you have a better or more interesting quote, send it in! It can be in text (preferably with name of the episode it came from, so we can make a nice gif without searching, though at that point, I’m fairly sure @ddp456 knows all the GF episodes by heart ~nautiscarader) on gifs, like above, saving us some time.

If it helps, try the Gravity Falls Wiki for full transcripts of all 40 episodes. And if you want to go the full gif route like I did, give Yarn a try, where copying and pasting your favorite GF quote provides the same scene which it appears or Giphy if you already have the clip.

(sidenote by @nautiscarader: I have never heard about Yarn until now, and the fact that it does work, seemingly by having transcripts and timecodes of all episodes ever hooked up to video clips feels like black magic to me. Actually, now I explained it to myself it’s not as impressive, but still, useful as h*ck).
