I got up early in the morning and went to my vineyard, I've been working with my father. Starting early meant we finished early, so I had some free time to play around with my camera.

Cosmos bipinnatus, also called the garden cosmos or Mexican aster, these plants are members of the daisy family. They are indigenous to the Americas, but are now found growing across South Africa after some cosmos seeds were inadvertantly imported via the British Army's contaminated horse feed during the Anglo-Boer war around the turn of the 20th century.

Outside of the Americas, cosmos are often considered an invasive species or a weed, though they are a popular addition to butterfly gardens due to their nice appearance and their appeal to birds and pollinators in general.
