So, guys. I know we’re all wondering what’s going to happen in CoT, and that we’re wary about what CC might have done with Thomastair for good reasons. But, I’m actually hopeful?
You’re right, it’s foolish. And yet, I can’t help thinking that all the Thomastair snippets we’ve been given lead to the two of them sorting things out by CoT’s first half.
Of course, I don’t think all will be fine by then; rather, that Thomas and Alastair will have talked it out, and moved on to dealing with the Merry Thieves.
Why do I think that? Well, my brain’s been mulling over the snippets since they got out, which means you now have to hear my interpretation of them.
A warning: I won’t be posting spoilers about CoT’s leaked chapters, but there’ll be clear references for those who read them.
CoT was always starting in conflict considering how CoI ended, and that became even more evident when Thomas’s note - because it’s his note, let’s be honest - was released.
With its tone, the note mirrors Alastair’s to Thomas before the Townsend Musicale, back when the roles were reversed. It expresses care and longing; the need to be with the person you love.
Now Thomas’s in that position, and all the while having to figure out what’s happening between Alastair and Charles.
He’s with Kit when Alastair visits Charles, and he’s distracted by the ruckus upstairs. The scene is clearly from early CoT, as shown by the lack of communication between him and Alastair.
How do we go from them not communicating to sorting things out, though?
There must be at least one meeting - most likely accidental - in between the encounter at the Fairchilds’ and Thomas and Alastair’s eventual reconciliation. The snippets say so:
Tumblr media
This means that Thomas and Alastair meet exactly one day after Alastair visits Charles. It’s really too short of a time for them to have sorted things out, and Thomas clearly doesn’t know anything about Alastair and Charles yet.
After that, it’s all left open to interpretation, but Thomas and Alastair meet again - this time in a carriage - not much later. And maybe, it even happens because Alastair gets Thomas’s note.
Regardless of the reasons, the carriage meeting will presumably represent the turning point in Thomas and Alastair’s relationship.
They meet, share a blanket, talk. They, believe it or not, discuss Charles. And while bringing him up will likely be related to something he did, it’ll also help Thomas and Alastair sort things out.
They’ll be forced to face their feelings, and between that and their newfound proximity, they’ll kiss. It’s only natural, and there’s an art which confirms it.
There are good chances, then, that the carriage meeting will bring major changes to Thomas and Alastair’s relationship.
While making them kiss doesn’t necessarily have to mean anything, it shows that Alastair is faltering; that he’s rethinking his position.
Having talked to him, there won’t be much left for Thomas to do outside of clearing the air with the Merry Thieves - with Matthew.
The only other Thomastair snippets CC gave us either see Thomas and Alastair being happy - the mistletoe, hopeful Alastair - or them effectively dealing with Matthew.
And to be frank, getting him to support their relationship will probably be Thomas and Alastair’s greatest challenge in CoT’s second half.
They’ll be talking about it when Matthew asks Thomas if he loves Alastair, and he’ll accept it throughout the course of the book.
Maybe not immediately, but eventually:
Tumblr media
It’ll take a moment of great emotional or physical distress, but Matthew will come around.

CHOT theory time!
This is for all the people who read the first chapter on CHOT
Spoilers Ahead:
So I was thinking about Ariadne and how she found information her father had written about the Herondales and Lightwoods. And how her mother acted when she was in Maurice’s office: no longer warm like she was earlier. I think this confrontation will end one of two ways:
1. Ariadne’s mother kicks her out of the house. Either as punishment for snooping and seeming “untrustworthy”, or bc Ariadne defends her friends against her parents’ prejudice. OR
2. Ariadne chooses to leave the house on her own accord. She’s lonely and her mother is hostile, so why should she stay?
Either way, that brings her to Anna’s doorstep because she feels she has nowhere else to turn. She can’t go to the Institute bc that would look bad on her family and she still cares about them. So she goes to Anna, who ultimately lets her in bc of the information Ariadne has. And then they’ll rekindle their relationship after some angst and tension
What do we think?

GUYS. GUYS. HEAR ME OUT.
We know someone important will die because Cassie said it in an Insta real (here) and all things point to Matthew (or like- lots of people's intuition point to Matthew). There was also a theory of Matthew becoming a downloader which I don't really know where it comes from, but THERE IT IS. SO: What if Mathew dies, and then comes back to "life" as a Vampire?? The chapter title sounds so much like that: Exiled from light. Who is exiled from light? VAMPIRES. Or if it's not Matthew, someone is getting turned into a vampire.

I know for the pass few weeks, we all been questioning the effectiveness of Ty's gohst sensor. and I have a thought, but I don't like it. So I am putting it out there and making it a you problem.
So what if the ghost sensor is working a little too well, and it  wasn't just paking up ghost, it was also picking up dark magic too. In particular ghost created by dark magic. Which leads to my next point. Is it possible for Tatiana to trap parts of everyone's souls inside those objects? It doesn’t even have to be when they were alive. She and Belisle could’ve set it up, so that the curse automatically trap their spirits inside the objects when they die.
It will make a lot of sensed for TWP too. bc "Shadowhunters from the past and present" does not limit ghost. so it’s completely possible that the spirits of the TLH gang, can play a part in TWP. It will Connect the two series too.

I’m pretty sure if Sona really dies Alastair will be the one to look after the child. Not only because he’s older than Cordelia, but also because in TSC wiki it’s said he’s the ancestor of Emma and had a child:
Tumblr media
So, maybe he adopts, or maybe he just raises his sibling (Julian vibes). Thomas of course would be helping him as much as he could. Still I’m hoping Sona doesn’t die because *pain*

PROLOGUE
Later James could only remember the sound of the wind. A metallic scream, like a knife drawn across a shard of glass, and far below that the sound of howling, desperate and hungry.
He was walking along a long and trackless road: it seemed no one had come before him, for there was no marks on the ground. The sky above was equally blank. James could not have said if it was night or day, winter or summer. Only the bare brown land stretching before him, and the pavement- colored sky above him.

chain of thorns comes out so soon, and we're going to see everyone again but after this, that's it. we might never see them again outside of Jem and Tessa making some vague references to them in twp. I can't do this. like if I think about it too much it make me sick. we only had them for one trilogy, meanwhile clary and jace are going to be showing up in their, what? fourth? trilogy. which is fine, is totally fine (lying). but what about all the tlh characters?? they're all getting paid dust now while their series is coming out. like we're never ever going to see them again (outside maybe a handful of short stories or something). not only that, this is also the last time we're going to see any of the tid characters!! that's two sets of characters we have to say goodbye too!! I cannot do this, right now or ever.
not only that but cc is like?? absent right now?? like she has the final book of a trilogy coming out in less than 10 days and it doesn't feel like it? before chog and coi there was more teasers and what not but now? nothing. like the fandom feels kinda dead rn, and it's frustrating. tlh you deserved so much better </3

so where would anne, george and mary fall in the "five kids in five years" time line if he's the eldest?
hm, well, we don't know what years henry and thomas boleyn died, since the 'c.1520' seems like it was the date their brasses were made, not, obviously, the date of their deaths (both tiny tombs suggest cot deaths). "the exact date of elizabeth's marriage to thomas boleyn is unknown but her jointure was settled on her in 1501 suggesting a recent marriage some time after 1498 [...]"
so, i would think george was maybe born 1499, 1500, or 1501, mary born 1500, 1501, or 1502, and my personal theory is that anne was born either 1503 or 1504 (possibly 1505...)
*also going back to this quote ('general line rather than heirs male'), why would hunsdon have only said 'eldest daughter/sister', not 'eldest child'? the latter would arguably have given him a stronger claim, i'd assume because he knew the first was true but not the second:
"Lord Hunsdon's rather complicated account of the Boleyn titles shows that he had a good grasp of family history. Although his daughter, in her tomb memorial, stated that Mary Boleyn was the second daughter, it seems more likely that Lord Hunsdon was correct. Where the queen was his co-heir to the Boleyn title, he would have wanted to be very sure of his facts." Anne Boleyn: Henry VIII's Obsession, Elizabeth Norton

I have a very odd feeling that the "unexpected enemy" in CHOT will be Inquisitor Bridgestock
Bc of the quote from Ariadne saying she needed somewhere to stay and THIS suspicious interaction in CHOI:

Idk there was a lot of attention drawn to this for it to be a throwaway thing to me

Chain of Thorns theory
What if what we read in all of the other books, TMI, TDA, The Eldest Curses and (in the future) the Wicked Powers, is a story written by Lucie? Cassie said it would be the end of the ShadowHunter world. And it would make sense with the whole explanation about the found family tree. Lucie gave her mom and Jem a happy ending. She kept Christopher alive… I don’t know

Cot death(s)? - Kids
Just putting thoughs on the record on who may die by my logic (could be very wrong). Also might be fun to for me to check later when cot is released (if I'm not drowning in tears!). Spoilers for previous books obviously.
Okay so I'm assuming when cc says someone we love dies she means a TLH character, however TID characters could be fair game:
James &Cordelia: are fine I'm fairly confident they r main characters
Lucie: could die/ marks stripped all that stuff but tbh I think worst case scenario is that she fleas with Jesse somewhere for life. I don't think cc would do more damage to poor Jesse.
Jesse: same as above, seriously he is killed, raised and then killed ? Nah. However he still could be exiled or something etc.
Matthew: tbh he is set up for something to happen to him, we don't get povs(he's thinking things apparently) and has no love interest (also not saying he needs one). But anything could happen 🤷‍♂️
Christopher: see I've debated this and whilst could be easier to kill off, after him getting injured in ChOG I'm not so sure ( i have a rule that if their life has been threatened once it can't or shouldn't be again) cuz it could be *slightly* cheap.
Grace: i have no clue, i can't even say her presence on the cover will save her! She will have a big role I'm sure. If i had to pick a side maybe live because most ppl will live but...meh
Thomas: similar to what i mentioned under Kit earlier - we were scared of the 'dangerous' shenanigans he was up to in COI, plus because his sister died I don't think 2 deaths in one household is fair - especially when you have 5/6 or so households to choose from.
Alastair: I'll admit I'm biased i rlly want him to survive. I don't think his odds are horrendous, but it is very possible he could die - especially when i think he has an important charavhter arc ( expect an essay if he does die on here). But the whole Cordelia revenge/morn quote worries me (could be a lot of ppl tho)
Charles : ah yes, what is there to say. Honestly i think he survives, i would 100% think he would die if he hadn't of almost died in COI. Anything is possible tho. I will say that if he lives Matthew may have a greater change if dying.
Anna: tbh i think cc like her and Ariadne. It is very possible that Anna could die since she hasn't really change much between the two books previous, tho she could open up in this book.
Ariadne/Kamala: i think that she will survive, there is no point in killing her off. She has developed much and now will be even more free in COT. Maybe she moves in with Anna permanently, maybe she gets Anna's appartment if Anna dies?
Overall i will be shocked if Cordelia, James or Ariadne die. Of the others on this list probably one will, if not two ( definitely not unless Charles is one?)
I may do parents/ adults soon if I'm bored.
Go néirí an t-ádh leat!

if sona does die in cot then we’ll see jordelia? (fuck, my god like knowledge of tsc has vanished in only 2 years, what a shame) like, at a peak. agh, i sort of take great pleasure of painful situations as long as they provide ample material to gush about at the same time. and that would definitely give me some unforgettable jordelia moments and i’ll cry bc everyone would be able to see, clear as water, that they love each other. bc cordelia would hold on to james with everything and james wouldn’t dare to let her go, everything for her dude. everything. and james YOU BETTER START PULLING YOUR WEIGHT bc goddamnit i’m so tired of this “love triangle”, like dude, get your shit together and make her happy and fix things quickly before i collapse from frustration (again)
