Just out of pure curiousity, do you have a design for Nepal? Because their flag is a different shape.
Tumblr media
for stuff like this i mainly follow polandball logic mostly because i see countryhumans as primarily an extension of polandball (something of which i am like, 10x more autistic about You dont know how much circlehead kazakhstans annoy me). apologies for the shitty doodle but my nepal design basically follows that logic and is a nepalrawr.
i tend to use a lot of polandball tropes in my headcanons specifically so stuff like the german empire is probably different from most (anyone can tangle because anyone can anschluss). kazakhstans a brick, israels a cube, venice has 6 extra arms, the only things i dont follow is poland being upside down and the thing they do with east asian countries where their eyes are always closed.

A night in Venice
This is dedicated as a rather late Christmas present for @tigerlilyjazz and her countryhuman OC Pandela. I had a lot of fun making this kawan!!! Hope you all enjoy it!
-------------------------------------------
Pandela heard three rhythmic knocks at the door, and slipped on her necklace pendant around her neck. She smiled at her reflection in the mirror once more, and looked out of her room. “Coming! Tunggu sekejap ye(1)!”
“Alright, take your time~!” A faint accented voice came from the hallway outside. Pandela grabbed her little sling bag with her purse and phone, and ran out of the room. One last look at herself in the mirror, smoothing back a few strands of her multi-coloured hair, she skipped excitedly to the door and opened it.
“Good evening my lady,” A charming, smooth voice greeted her, and a gorgeous rose was held out to her. “Oh Italy, that’s so sweet of you!” She giggled shyly, accepting the delicate flower and admired its beautiful red and dusty pink petals, so smooth and shiny that they appeared almost varnished in the soft orange light of the hallway.
Italy smiled softly at the female country in front of him, he was so happy that she was here, for an ‘educational trip’ as she had told her brother. It was actual a big surprise that he had let her go, ALONE, while trusting HIM to get her around. Right now, they were standing in a hallway in a hotel, in his prized city Venice. He couldn’t wait to show her around.
“Well, shall we?” He asked, gesturing down the red-carpeted walkway of the hotel. Pandela beamed brightly at him, and took his arm and walked with him. They took the elevator, Italy holding the door open for her like the right on gentleman he was. “Taly, stop it! I can do things myself, you know?” She laughed, hitting him playfully on the arm with her bag.
“Well, what if I WANT to do those things for a special someone?” Italy asked, laughing with her and fiddling with the red scarf around his neck. He pressed the button for 1 and the metal doors closed.
Stepping out of the little hotel, they were greeted by a narrow canal, with quite a few people walking along its side paths. Italy carefully parted a way through, saying quick apologies and ‘excuse me’s’ in his national language chirpily while guiding Pandela along behind him.
She looked up, and saw a beautiful view of the night sky, twinkling with little stars in a deep navy blue background of the atmosphere. “Wow…” She breathed, the Asia district didn’t exactly get to see these clear skies very often, and for her it was even rarer, cuz of her….recent past.
“Hey,” She looked back down to the smiling country in front of her holding her hand. “Now’s not really the time and place to start stargazing, we’re in the middle of a pathway in Venice, Carina(2). C’mon~” He tugged her along gently again, away from the busy streets that were full with local humans, foreign tourists and the like.
“Where are we going?” Pandela asked curiously, they were going to the more rear-end of the floating city, where the docks were. Italy smiled, but didn’t answer her question, leading her out to the end of the road and showing off with a grand flourish of his hand. “Tadaa~”
Pandela let out a surprised gasp, her hand going to her mouth. “OMG cantik-nya(3)!!” Italy laughed at her statement, a cheeky smile on his face. Pandela walked forward to the end of the wooden planks of the boat dock, glazing in awe at the majestic gondola that floated gracefully on the water’s glimmering surface.
Italy smirked proudly, this boat was the prized of his prized city, its solid body made of polished red wood. It was the gondola of gondolas in Venice, and damn was he proud of it.
“Italy, this is beautiful!! Is it yours?” She exclaimed, her eyes sparkling like the stars above them. Italy caught himself getting lost in them, and shook his head and grinning sheepishly at her. “Si, si(4)! S-shall we?”
Pandela nodded excitedly, she had never sat in a gondola before, she loved their sleek shape and orated wood bodies. She wished she could integrate them into her own country in some future time, she would have to ask Italy first, they were his invention after all.
Italy got in first, then held out a hand for Pandela to grasp as she stepped in, the boat rocked gently at the new weight on it, but remained steady after. She floated smoothly on the waters of the city, and was ready to make her master and guest’s ride as comfortable as possible.
Grabbing an oar, Italy dipped it in the water, and pushed gently off the dock. The boat moved along the water, gliding through the water calmly. Pandela sat down on the plush velvet seats, admiring the tiny ripples in the water as they sailed along the roads and buildings. The water was dark in the night, but reflected light like a black mirror, shimmering with life of the city.
“Wow…” She said softly. Italy looked down at her from his standing point on the helm of the craft, smiling softly at her awe-struck face. “You like it?” He said, grinning at her. She laughed and nodded. “It’s very educational~” That made both of them laugh, the gondola rocking slightly.
Italy paddled the boat along the canal, sending it moving forward back into the busier parts of the city. Some people said Venice at night was completely different than Venice at day, they were not wrong. All the lights were shining with different hulls of soft glow, illuminating the roads and the waters.
It was just alive with sound and smells, dinner meals wafting through the air with laughter and chatting after a day’s work. Pandela let out a contented sigh, sinking down more comfortably in the seats. Italy snickered silently, “Best thing you’ve seen, hmm? C’mon, say it~”
She laughed. “No way. It’s nice, but I wouldn’t say it’s the best.” Italy gasped dramatically, holding his chest like the words hurt him so painfully. Pandela giggled at his acting, leaning her elbows on her knees and resting her chin on her palms to look at the European country.
“Pfft, but at least say the Gucci factory was nice, it’s a national heritage you know? And I didn’t spend 1790 Euro for you to say it’s not good—“ Italy joked, leaning on the oar in his hands. “Alright, alright fine, that one was nice.” Pandela smiled, thinking of the beautiful purse that Italy had bought for her in her hotel room.
They continued chatting about Italy’s precious Gucci, and other stuff as they rowed through the many canals. She even got to ask him to sing, seeing that: “Hey, isn’t the gondolier supposed to sing while rowing a passenger?”
“Nahh, that just…something some gondoliers do—“
“C’mon, I want to hear you sing!”
“Nahh…”
“Please Talyyy~”
“…fineee…”
Their canal filled with the musical lyrics of ‘O sole mio’. Italy sang slowly at first, then gaining more confidence and singing more proudly of the classical song. Pandela clapped and cheered loudly once he was done, and he smiled happily and did a small bow.
Suddenly, a strong gush of wind blow through the buildings, knocking Italy’s hat off his head and sending it flying through the air. “My hat!!” He exclaimed.
Pandela’s hand shoot up, snatching the light brown boater out of the air. “Got it!!” They stared at each other for a few seconds, then bursted out laughing. Everything happened so quickly, it was hilariously funny to the two of them for some reasons.
Italy ruffled his floofy tri-coloured hair that was now exposed to the elements, chuckling cheekily. Pandela held on to the hat in both hands, and playfully placed it on her head, giggling as the broad brim covered over her eyes.
‘Adorabile~(5)’ He thought, his face turning a light shade of red. Must be the cold, he dismissed it with an embarrassed thought, dipping the oar back into the water and paddling steadily. They had floated to the docks again, making a round of the city. He tossed the rope out to the wooden dock, leaping gracefully out and tying down the gondola, making sure it wouldn’t float away in the night.
Pandela had a bit of trouble getting out, seeing as the water had gotten a little rough with the incoming winds, and squeaked every time the boat rocked while she was trying to step out.  Italy had to sort of lift her out by the underarms and set her on solid ground. She blushed, her cheeks tainted pink as she watched him rope down his boat more securely. She held on to her bag more tightly, Italy’s boater hat still on her head. She took it off, and held it out to him with a shy smile.
“Here, you can have it back now.” Italy smiled, and pushed it gently back to her. “I have many at home,” He shrugged his shoulders. “You can keep it. It looks good on you~” Pandela’s eyes widen in surprise, and more heat flooded to her face. She held on to the brim with both hands, holding it to her chest as she smiled happily at the cobblestone ground.
“But not as good as it looks on me~” She snapped her head up, and saw Italy grinning coyly. “You-!” She hit him playfully, grinning back at him as the other country cackled loudly.
“Well, good night then, Pandy. See you in the morning!” Italy said, waving at her. Pandela waved shyly back, standing at the doorstep to her hotel with the hat on her head and bag in hand. “Buona notte(6)!!” He called cheerfully, and walked off whistling happily.
“...buano notte~” She whispered, blushing slightly as she looked at his retreating figure, and stepped into the hotel, shutting the door close.

"The word "Italy" is a geographical expression, a qualification that concerns the language, but which does not have the political value that the efforts of revolutionary ideologues tend to imprint on it."
"You're an idiot"
On August 2, 1847, the Austrian statesman Klemens Von Metternich wrote the famous and controversial phrase "Italy is a geographical expression" in a note sent to Count Dietrichstein. This sentence was taken up the following year by the Neapolitan newspaper Il Nazionale, reporting it, however, in a derogatory sense: "Italy is nothing but a geographical expression"; in the midst of the riots of 48, the Italian liberals polemically appropriated this latter interpretation by using it, in a patriotic key, to awaken anti-Austrian sentiment in Italians.

that Venice doesn't look like the one who would sell you random stuffs, but of course that was before his economic domination over his master's region.
indeed, for now it's literally floating boats on a swamp mostly XD (some doodles)

Venice 💕💓💞❤
Her first name comes from an important Venetian noble woman, the alchemist Isabella Cortese, also it's a sort of joke about Venice being one of the most beautiful city in the world ("Bella" in Italian is "beautiful"); the middle name comes from another cultured Venetian woman, Caterina Cornaro, who was open to the world and dedicated herself to the Serenissima and her beloved state's dominance in the Mediterranean. Oh and Vianello is a popular Venetian surname!
