Writing has saved my life on so many occasions and it mostly started with tumblr. (It kinda started on MySpace but I don’t like ageing myself cause DAMN.)

My word of caution to you is to never feel obligated. You are writing for the joy of it. You are writing because it makes you feel good. You’re connected to your characters. That’s why we do this. It’s why we spend days looking through or making gif sets. It’s why we rage at the changes on tumblr when we’ve mastered editing posts. Because we love what we do here. We don’t want it to be hard.

So don’t let this love become a job or a chore. Take a break. Relax your mind. Work on your muse on your terms. Live a life outside of here, MEET YOUR FELLOW WRITERS.

Suffering from PTSD and social anxiety was crippling but I could always come home here. My friends, these writers, my village and my people they saved me. They brought me back. My muses, my characters and their stories they allow me to vent and express aches I don’t know how to in real life and they, too, save me.

This was chaotic but the ending is easy. Writing saves. Don’t make it so that it’s a place you dread.

COVAIRECITYRP TASK 021: ❝  SECRET KEEPER ❞

Is your character good at keeping secrets? Explain. He excellent. With his job, discretion is more than a quality, it's a mandatory requirement. Also, having grown up in Covaire City as a civilian, Trevor knows the value of secret, but also the power of a good secret keeper.

Do people tell your character their secrets? Explain. No. As an archivist and someone who is known – at his work – for being by the rules, he's usually someone that people avoids. But when you can sense emotions and detect lies, combine with being observant and knowledgeable, some secrets are impossible to keep from him.

What’s your character’s darkest secret? At this moment, that secret isn't his. But he strongly suspect Elijah to have once been a hunter.

What’s the secret they are most embarrassed about? Trevor isn't embarrassed by any of his secrets, they just weight heavily on his shoulders.

Do they have a secret that could ruin their life? If yes, explain. In his mind, the worst secret he keeps, is the fact that two of his brothers tried to assassinate him——— and came close to succeeding. As a family with an impeccable track record - at least, in the eyes of the city - Trevor truly feels that such knowledge would bring the downfall of his family's legacy.

Whom do they tell/share their secrets with? Explain. No one. Trevor was thought to endure in silence. So even Edgar, who he was the closest to, didn't know about his sixth sense, no one did. Trevor is very good at keeping things close to his chest.

Has anyone ever told your character’s secret to someone they shouldn’t have? Explain. No. Because there was never something to tell in the first place.

Has your character ever told anyone someone else’s secret? Explain. No. He's never known many to begin with, and values loyalty and respect too much to say anything. So unless it's something that can be dangerous for the city, he won't say anything.

How far would your character go to protect their secrets? Explain. It's hard to say, because Trevor has never been put in a difficult situation concerning his secret. And since most people might not understand why he's so concerned about seemingly meaningless family secrets, he appears to be an open book to them. He's never been pushed into a corner.

Does your character write their secrets down anywhere? Explain. No. As an archivist, he knows that anything written down might live forever one way or another.

COVAIRECITYRP TASK 023: ❝  COMFORT ZONE ❞ - Tesla 54

How does your character behave around children?

Tesla is practically a child herself. As a full-grown clone, she might be an adult, but Tesla takes most things with a child-like curiosity. But Tesla also doesn’t understand children. She thinks they are interesting, as well as how they are made, because the concept of reproducing and not coming from a tube is fascinating.

How does your character behave around the elderly?

Tesla doesn’t care where they learn things from, and old people have lots of info.

How does your character normally deal with minor confrontation?

Tesla aims to please and actively seeks to do anything to fix it even if she technically wasn’t at fault. She does as she’s told.

How quick or slow is your character to resort to physical violence in a confrontation? Explain.

Tesla may be a peaceful and playful puppy, but she is also a wolf. She can and will kill if she has to. But most of her kill count is rabbits and moles, not humans or supernatural creatures.

Describe a scenario in which your character feels most comfortable.

Tesla felt most comfortable with Logan. She would like to feel what he described as want again with someone. That or a fresh batch of cookies or some flowers to play with.

Describe a scenario in which your character feels most uncomfortable.

When a client brings her to a temporary state of death. She heals slowly, and that is not ideal being that she needs to serve clients and civilians in Covaire. So she tries to steer clear of clients who have done activities that have caused her to die for any length of time.

In the face of criticism, is your character defensive, self-deprecating, or willing to improve? Explain.

Always willing to improve.

How does your character behave around people they like?

They tend to hang around those people more often than others.

How does your character behave around people they dislike?

Tesla steers away from very few people. Except for folks who like to break her till she needs hospitalization to heal or come back from temp death.

How does your character treat people in service jobs?

She is indifferent to them. They are doing their job just like she is doing hers. That is unless they are doing something that catches her curiosity.

COVAIRECITYRP TASK 023: ❝  COMFORT ZONE   ❞ - Leone Edition

How does your character behave around children?

Leone, outside of their own son and their coven’s kids, is not very social with children. Unless the mage has a personal connection to a child, they are treated as most people under 40 in Covaire are by the mage: Distant and uninterested unless necessary to interact with. In the mage’s extend familial circle, however, they are quite doting.

How does your character behave around the elderly?

Depends on their physical age. Above 40 are attractive to them, but once they reach “elderly” in physicality the attraction is replaced with respect outside of the occasional silver fox/vixen. The elderly have many years under their belt and as long as their minds holds up, valued knowledge.

How does your character normally deal with minor confrontation?

Leone is not usually fazed by minor confrontation. Unless said confrontation is keeping them from their studies. If they are studying magic, don’t bother them unless necessary.

How quick or slow is your character to resort to physical violence in a confrontation? Explain.

Incredibly slow unless they feel they must defend themselves. They just don’t see the point in wasting their time getting into petty squabbles. But if they must defend themselves, they will do whatever they must to make sure the opponent does not have the ability to get back up, dead or alive, though they prefer not to kill unless absolutely necessary.

Describe a scenario in which your character feels most comfortable.

Leone is most comfortable two places: In a warm bed with someone they enjoy being with. Or in their home with a good book and some Linden Tea and some tea snacks.

Describe a scenario in which your character feels most uncomfortable.

Leone does not like to be too crowded. They don’t have claustrophobia, they just are introverted and don’t really like to interact with too many people at once. Even in places with lots of people, they tend to find a place that they have room and can focus on only a few people at a time.

In the face of criticism, is your character defensive, self-deprecating, or willing to improve? Explain.

Improvement. Leone always strives to be better, if only for their own wants.

How does your character behave around people they like?

Leone behaves one of two ways around people they like. They either have a tendency to flirt with you if they find you attractive, or simply enjoy your company if you hold no romantic or physical attraction to them. They enjoy a intimate companion just as much as a sharp mind that can keep their attention.

How does your character behave around people they dislike?

Leone simply stops interacting with someone if they dislike them. Or seeks to make sure they know their place if they are a prisoner. They have no time for unwelcome distractions or belligerent “children”.

How does your character treat people in service jobs?

As long as they are respectful, so is Leone.

Actually, yes! But only due to the fact that his original arc deals with reincarnation. So in his original canon, he has multiple FCs. I actually had to do a coin toss for his Covaire FC when I originally joined. And I low-key debated on making him female at one point.

Maximus was drowning himself in his third bottle of Greek Raki (Tsipouro pure). It wasn’t like it would have much effect on him, but the taste was familiar and comforting. He hated when the Rusty Nail got busy. The more the place got filled, the closer people sat to his table and the more likely someone would eventually talk to him. Part one: KINKS

Mind games  / Breaking prisoners & escorts

He can’t help himself. Caught continually needing the games he grew used to while under the care of the first King of Covaire, his Sire. It’s hardwired into him that all the objects of his attention must eventually be destroyed in one fashion or another. For years Leo wanted the ones he liked in the homes of other Clients, or protected by the rules of the Chateau. Safe( r ) from him and the need he has to ruin everything too close to him. Over the years Leo has found ways to curtail the inevitable destruction of the things he possesses, to slowly reject the cycle of his Sire but he still desires it. The power it makes him feel.

Intelligence / Feistiness / Obedience

Leo discovered early on that the smarter the objects of his attention were the longer they lasted in the twisted games he would play with them. In many ways he would look for shadows of himself in the creatures that he found truly desirable. His narcissism drawing similarities for him to find in the individuals he liked to play with before the cycle of destruction would start.

Sadism / BDSM

Pain was always a part of sex and desire for him. He is not actually a Dom in the true sense of the BDSM world. He is too selfish and vicious to ever be but he does enjoy the activities found in the BDSM world even if what he likes is far more akin to what a great many sexually sadistic serial killers enjoy. His reasons for enjoying them are similar as well, to be in total control over another creature, to be the giver of pain and pleasure. To hurt others and see them shatter and beg. If feeds the darkness in his soul.

Murder

Leo began killing things for Alastor when he was nine years old. It was a rush. The only time he felt like he was in absolute control of himself and the world around him. To end the life of something, snuff it out from the world completely gave him the sense of power and control he so desperately craved and did not have.

Blood play

His Sire would fed in front of him when he was a little boy, while still human. Alastor King completely desensitized Leo to the sight of blood by the time he was ten. That was when Alastor began to feed from him. Little tastings here and there. He’d also offer a taste of his Page to visiting vampires of note. The blood of children was always supposed to be more delicious. As Leo grew he became very good with knives and swords. He would carve into his play things, drawing pictures, his name, anything he wanted just to see the blood run over the skin. After he was turned his sexual desire of blood became a burning need. 

Edging / Dominating

Alastor controlled his entire existence from the time he was nine years old. When he turned sixteen the vampire King planned to take him to bed but told Leo that he must be trained before he’d be good enough for his King to fuck. Alastor recruited vampires and wolves to ‘train’  Leo and one of those trainings was keeping him just on the edge of orgasm without allowing him release. The teenager was a sobbing mess before finally being allowed to cum. The training session cemented in him a preference for being in the dominating position but also for the rush of a release denied. 

Cleanliness

Cleanliness was part of Alastor’s rules. Under his nails, his long hair, his clothing. Everything had to be impeccable or he would not be allowed in his King’s presence for more than a few minutes at most. Leo enjoys cleaning his playthings after he dirties them up, a ritual of ownership that helps him sooth and relax. His own showers and baths have been known to take several hours when he has the luxury of time.

Part two: ANTI-KINKS

Filth / Bathroom play / Illness

The other side of the cleanliness coin. Leo finds the waste of creatures distasteful. Once before he was a vampire he was ordered to rape a prisoner brought before the King for the King’s pleasure. The prisoner had been locked up for days by that point, filthy and foul Leo had done what he’d been told but vomited after the prisoner had defecated on the floor afterwards. It was at that point that Leo realized that the order had been a punishment for Leo as well.

Stupidity

Leo is an incredibly broken but intelligent man. He can’t abide stupidity. Simplicity and naivete are things he can tolerate to a certain extend but creatures who he finds stupid he doesn’t see as anything more than wastes of space. Not fit for anything other than food and even that is stretching it.

Whining / Complaining

Connected to stupidity Leopold finds creatures that complain while in dire positions to be lacking in intelligence. But it runs deeper than that. Leopold never complained, never whined as he suffered under the ‘love’ of his King. He finds the lack of gratitude from creatures that do not truly understand suffering to be worthless.

Hæ vinir (Hello friends), I have some news to relay. This is in no way, shape, or form easy for me to write as I’ve now been here for a year. This took a lot of thought. But thank you for making this a lovely year for writing even though I have been in and not. Trust me, I wish I could’ve been around more.

Ironically, I when created Israel roughly 15 years ago on February 14th I did not know how therapeutic he would become to me. A lot of his backstory has frighteningly aligned with mine as of late. I am going to be fully transparent here. I have not been doing so great.

As some of you have known I’ve been having some major health complications. Around this time last year, I landed myself in the hospital for two months and underwent two emergency surgeries - this now makes 6. Much to my frustration, I thought my quality of life would change after being discharged. In some ways it has, but, sadly it has actually fallen into decline because of genetic conditions that have given away to chronic conditions. My doctors are actually at a loss with what is happening inside my body and currently, we are looking at chemo drugs to combat my issues and... more surgeries.

On top of this, I’m currently trying to get through a dual-degree program at my university, balance a new job, a hospital internship, and just life in general. It has been hard. But Covaire and all of you lovely writers have really made an impact on me (a good one I promise). It’s just nice to know good people still exist and that good roleplays still exist on tumblr (I’ve been on this site since it’s existence). Thank you for pushing me to write, thank you for helping me find my ability to write again after massive depression spells, thank you for having me and my angst-personified baby. I know Israel probably doesn’t appreciate a lot of people - but I certainly do. Thank you for loving me and loving my bb. 

In short, this is not a “final goodbye”, I am not killing off Israel (I could never). It is merely a “till next time”. I’m hoping to be back in Mid-May when the term is over and I have more time and energy to spare. Right now I just need to focus on my life, school, and possibly character development. Bless friends.
