wincest wednesday question of the week: one word to describe your favorite aspect of the (vertical or horizontal) wincest dynamic
h.w.w. <3
p.s. pass it on to a few mutuals if you like, and tag #wincest wednesday so we can see your answers
Happy WW, and thanks for the ask! <3
I think-- regardless of vertical or horizontal wincest, but especially with SamDean or DeanJohn-- my favorite word to describe them is---
Well, I debated between hungry, ravenous, and other synonymns; but I think my favorite description is:
covetous
The Winchesters are forever pining--- for the past; for a promised future; for an ideal they'll never achieve or return to; but especially and always for each other. Even when they HAVE each other it isn't enough. They are pining and they are needy and they are jealous AND I LOVE IT. I love when they are irrationally angry and suspicious of outsiders moving in on their insular dynamic. I love when you can see the "he's MINE" scrawled across their faces. When they are right beside each other but worlds apart, longing to close the distance somehow. It's that energy that invites any and all manner of obsession into the way they FUNCTION.
That greed for each other that can never be fully satisfied because they can't literally crawl into each other and make a home, but they keep trying anyway.
The way they can consume each other and still want for more, despite the destruction in their wake and the marrow stuck in their teeth.

"Thus says The Lord: Blessed is that servant of Mine who seeks out the poor, whose heart is eager to help the needy, for they know My ways and seek to please Me. Blessed also is My servant who gives out of the abundance they have received, for they walk in My ways. Yet most blessed is My servant who gives from their lack, for they do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with their God; indeed, they have understood..."

[text ID: Misplaced shame, anxiety, despondency, covetousness, lust, bitterness, impatience, pride—these are all sprouts from the root of unbelief in the promises of God.]
1 What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? 2 You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. 3 When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
4 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? 6 But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says:
“God opposes the proud
but shows favor to the humble.”
7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
11 Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. 12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you—who are you to judge your neighbor?

Neal Pollard
Brian Castner has written an excellent book called Stampede: Gold Fever and Disaster in the Klondike. In it, he chronicles the history of the gold rush to Alaska that occurred at the turn of 20th Century. There had been an economic depression in the 1890s that was just starting to lift around the time reports came out of the Klondike that people were striking it rich way up north.…
"Thus says The Lord: Blessed is that servant of Mine who seeks out the poor, whose heart is eager to help the needy, for they know My ways and seek to please Me. Blessed also is My servant who gives out of the abundance they have received, for they walk in My ways. Yet most blessed is My servant who gives from their lack, for they do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with their God; indeed, they have understood.
Yet woe to those who ignore the poor and draw back their hand from the needy, while they sit at ease in their abundance. For destitution is coming, and shall be born out of great desolation, in the day I take away their abundance and leave their houses desolate. Woe also to those who say they are My servants, yet refuse to help those in need, for only tears and sorrow await them. And woe to those who fail to give even the smallest amount, claiming they are in lack, for they have no trust, having learned nothing from the poor widow.[1]"
