Stuck in a weird place of not knowing what to say when we do have check-in and yet feel an intense absence when we aren't able to do check-in.

T is out of town for the weekend and can't check in tonight, maybe Sunday. Nothing is really happening, mainly on auto-pilot, and I don't really need to check in, but attachment shit is flaring because it's a change to our routine. And already counting ahead because I'll be out of town in a couple weekends and won't be able to check in then.

I hate change to routine, especially our routine. It's gotten so much worse since the start of the pandemic. When that safe routine was destroyed. And I'm still struggling to adjust, three and half years later.

if you've had covid and it wasn't a big deal for you so you're not actively trying to avoid getting it again, you should look up the research.

we've known for awhile now that every successive infection dramatically increases your risk of needing to be hospitalized for covid19. every time you get it you're rolling the dice, with a higher and higher risk of severe infection.

and that even asymptomatic covid19 can cause t cell and other immunological disruption (can make you immunocompromised basically, maybe temporarily maybe not)

as well as other long term problems that might not become obvious until you're sick again or even after

covid19 also causes postviral illnesses like POTS and ME/CFS* that you might not immediately realize you have because they're progressive and can seem very mild at first or be mistaken for anxiety/depression. and if you have one of these conditions every time you get covid they're likely to get worse.

i'm actually sick as hell myself rn, not with an infection but because I have ME/CFS and i sat up for over two hours a day on multiple successive days which is a lot for me at this stage of my illness, so i don't have the clarity of mind or energy to find sources rn but you should look for yourself!

*also ME/CFS also involves t cell dysfunction as well as problems with. basically every system of the body but my point rn is it can immunocompromise you too.

My mom is in so much financial trouble that she's thinking about selling the house and moving in with her parents in Florida. This is because prior to covid19 she worked in travel making over 100k a year, and after losing her job, she hasn't been able to find an employer that's been willing to give her a job with a decent wage. She literally lost a job working at a hotel because she refused to take a pay drop for switching from part time to full time. Her other job is reality, and she owes the government 8k in taxes because she couldn't afford keeping any of it to the side.

Despite this, she refuses to try to get financial help from non profits or starting fundraisers. I usually try to help her, but by now I'm 20k in debt and have more on my credit cards than I do in my bank account. This month I had to scramble to have enough in my bank account to pay rent.

My moms house is my legal residence and security for if I cannot find a place to live. She's been my biggest supporter in being transgender, she didn't even know what it was when I came out to her and ordered books on it the night I came out. She was the main push that let me get and stay on hrt despite insurance issues.

I must preface my response by saying that I don’t believe Cait is married to anyone other than Sam. The public “marriage” is nothing more than a publicity stunt to bring the focus to the narrative. It’s not so much about Cait’s “marriage” as it is about “proving” that Sam and Cait are not together. 

That said, I doubt Cait realized that the bigwigs would hijack it for Outlander promo. Their co-opting of the fake engagement and wedding for their own nefarious purposes should tell anyone with a brain that they are part of this nonsense. Executives at that level have no reason to get involved in a narrative unless it serves them.

I think Cait’s upset that her stunts didn’t stay in the background as she had planned contributed to her lashing out on twitter and to her blocking sprees. I believe she was blindsided by her bosses, leaving her feeling backed into a corner whenever she was questioned.

I don’t think the “marriage” has hurt Sam’s reputation. Those of us here on Tumblr study everything with a magnifying glass. Casual fans don’t see what we see, and for the most part they accept what they are shown without question. However, based on the number of new followers the past few months, it appears that some of the new OL viewers have noticed the same thing shippers noticed years ago. Some things are hard to hide if you have the eyes to see.

What the bigwigs at LG/Sony/Starz didn’t take into account is that shippers have very long memories and a mega-warehouse full of receipts. We’re also smart, and many of us are intuitive. 

I know what I’ve seen all these years, and I know what Sam and Cait openly showed us before Albrecht brought the hammer down on January 8, 2016. They can bring in all the ridiculously fake girlfriends they want for Sam, and all the fake ceremonies they want for Cait, but I know better.

You guys are definitely not alone. I know what I've seen and observed on my own with a little digging, and what I've seen here with this "group" so far only confirms what my gut has been telling me. Glad to find I'm not the only one who believes in "standing back and observing" when one encounters a brick wall. Sam and Cait both (but especially Sam) have been sharing little nuggets all along.
