Chronic illness news: my pericarditis returned in December when I got the flu. I was in denial about it for a while, and depressed about it after that. It had been gone, and it coming back likely means I’ll be on meds for it for the indefinite future. Plus, the pericarditis and the fibro are now teaming up on both myscle discomfort and fatigue, which has made this winter an exhausting one. I’m on the upswing mood wise now, and working to take care of me, but it’s definitely been a tough time, and a reminder that chronic illness means always having a slightly rockier path.

After a week of slowly recovering from a painful flu, I am deeply emotionally burnt out. But I now know that I am good to go to not-be-contagious for my holiday weekend and travel, and that is such a deep, deep relief, because what's been keeping me going is knowing that soon I will be able to celebrate the holidays with the people I love and give them the gifts I've lovingly ordered them, made them, or carried back from Argentina for them, and now I know I'll still be able to do all of that. Grateful for the weekend, grateful for being non-contagious even if my sinuses still hurt me.
