Just found about about the FiMFetch debacle.

Basically, the operator of an MLP fanfiction archive not only deleted all "foalcon" related stories from the archive, but also went on a moral crusade to call out as many people who create and/or consume this content as they could find.

Their definition of what counts as "foalcon" turned out to be incredibly broad, and includes aged up depictions, non-sexual stories that just happen to be marked as mature, and even artwork of adults that just happens to have the "younger" tag. (i.e. the elderly Granny Smith as a young mare)

At least one artist was put on the list, not because of anything they actually drew as most of their work is SFW, but because of NSFW edits of their artwork that they did not create.

And the cherry on top of this whole shitshow? A discord screenshot was leaked where this righteous moral crusader admitted to having, in their own words, "a weakness for Scootaloo" when sent an explicit image of the character.

Just want to make it clear that I don't like foalcon myself, and to be fair, some of the people on the list were also alleged groomers, and at least one person had actually been arrested by police for possession of CSEM (presumably REAL CSEM), but why am I not surprised that the person who went on a moral crusade against fictional smut turned out to be a projecting hypocrite with a taste for chicken?

EDIT: It has come to my attention that the artist in question has drawn some explicit works, none of which involve underage characters. They are still on the list because of an edit featuring their artwork, not because of anything they drew themselves.

I have been reading a bit on the OTW elections and the whole Tiffany G thing, but most of all, I've been reading comments from people supporting Tiffany saying that she just wants to clear AO3 from all the CSAM (child sexual abuse material) content and I don't know who needs to hear this but:

If someone comes to a predominantly QUEER space (like AO3) and tells you that censorship is necessary to eradicate CSAM... it's not actually CSAM they want to eradicate...

I've seen this type of discourse about Pride and about queer literature and queer movies and queer communities. It's a tried and true technique of the right and conservative movements.

First, they say there is a DANGER to the community through CSAM and they conflate the actual threat of CSAM in the community (we all know someone who thinks that writing a love story between two characters who are 16 is CSAM...), and make you believe that censorship is the only way to PROTECT THE CHILDREN. And since most people are (rightly) mind-bogled at having to explain that of course they don't support CSAM content, they bow down and accept the censorship for the greater good, without anyone actually trying to have a conversation about what qualifies as CSAM (which needs to, you know, actually involve real children and not fictional characters who are 17 and losing their virginity with their crush in a Mature-rated story about high school football and first love based on the author's own experience of losing their virginity at 17 to their crush in high school).

Then, they tell you that there are other forms of DISTURBING CONTENT, and what they really mean is porn that THEY find disturbing, for ex, (and I kid you not, I have seen comments like that) porn featuring disabled characters, which they consider to encourage the exploitation of vulnerable individuals, or BDSM porn (which supposedly encourages violence and lack of consent), or rough porn, or any kind of porn that isn't two (preferably white and skinny) able-bodied people doing it missionary style while lovingly gazing in each other's eyes. SO TO PROTECT VIEWERS, that needs to be banned as well.

And then, they tell you that even that sanitized version of porn is still porn and that people under 18 or under 21 or under whatever age they consider too young to view anything sexual regardless of the fact that not all countries have the same law about the age of maturity, should be free to surf the site without having to *gasp* filter out properly tagged works. So TO PROTECT THE CHILDREN, every explicit content is censored.

And then finally, when all that is left is a sanitized, white-washed, ableist, puritan type of content featuring General-Audience approved gay works of two nice men or two nice women holding hands and chastely kissing each other on the lips... Well guess what? :) CHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE EXPOSED TO QUEER CONTENT SO WE NEED TO BAN THAT AS WELL, and since we've basically done purge after purge before and there are still a handful of people on the website, well surely they won't mind/care anymore, will they?

It's not just a slippery slope, it's something that has been done time and again, and that is why censorship on AO3 will never, never have a positive outcome.

New people seeing this, hey! I'm a snuff film survivor and use pro shipping to cope. So please listen to me as someone who has been in many of these CP films that calling fictional art CP is just wrong.

The reason is because CP isn't a fictional issue. It's an issue that ruined my life and many other people's. So while you can hate art that shows kids sexually, don't call it CP. Because We're not fictional characters. We're real people with real lives who have to live with the fact that there's recordings of us at our most vulnerable floating around online. A fictional character can't experience that.

Please do not look it up for ur sanity, it's horrific CP, but to basically summarize it up. It was a video on the dark web where an 18 month old baby was sexually abused in the most horrific ways by Peter Scully and his two girl friends. I haven't seen the video obviously but I saw a video talking about it on Youtube and it's literally so disturbing what they did to this poor baby. Peter is in jail now, but what happened to Daisy was the most horrendous shit ever. To put it as bluntly as I can. Basically BDSM torture on a 18mnth old. Daisy luckily survived but i'm not sure about her physically and mental state. I'm pretty sure she will be forever scarred, and i really don't know what happened to her other than the fact that she is safe. She would be about 13 now I believe. I pray for her every day.

The video occasionally gets brought up where I see people asking for the link as if its not literal CP and a crime to view, but besides that it makes me so fucking angry for this child. There were other victims to, a lot of other kids. This man literally made cp on the dark web where he would sell it for $10k, made a pedophilia ring, and he has no remorse. he's so disgusting and deserves to be k*lled.

Please beware of this artist (@merr-murr) and their alt account on X (@/Merrmurrsquared, but I don't know if he has one active on here. I don't know how long they've been supported in the Helluva Boss / Hazbin Hotel community, but their art may draw you in, and I'd like to warn you.

DNI with this person (unless you support child predators)!! He's openly posted and censored an NSFW fanart of Octavia (17) and Charlie (18+) in chibi form lifting their clothing, revealing their genitalia. The post has since been reported by multiple active engagers within the community and been taken down due to violation of X's rules.

He did not express remorse for the harm he's done and attempted to excuse his actions with, "You can't exploit fictional characters," then mockingly equating the concept to harmlessly drawing a character such as Santa Claus. In fact, he claims, "equating fictional content drawn about goat and owl demons to real children (keep in mind Octavia is factually 17 years of age) being abused is definitely worse than whatever I could possibly draw."

It is well known that minors are incapable of properly consenting, especially to anyone of an adult age, and that pornoghraphy of them is generally illegal material. It is well known among the community she's underage, and the artist knows it. We do not condone this type of behavior, nor is it tolerable in any way, shape, or form. I hope Merr realizes what he's doing is very wrong and that he deserves to receive the proper treatment needed to unravel and resolve this. I don't think I need to say any more.
