Someone talk to me about Jin Guangyao’s intentions to turn Mingjue into a fierce corpse. Presumably a fierce corpse like Wen Ning, so sentient but controllable. I mostly assume this because there’s no shortages of more controllable and easily accessible corpses that they could have experimented on besides a whole ass Sect Leader who lived a long way away.

Do you think he was trying to find a way to keep Da-ge around while still fulfilling his father’s wishes, just less of a danger to him and now more controllable? I mean, uh, that’s ONE way of controlling the resentment cultivating sabers the way the Nie do. When we see him get the news in the Empathy scenes (which have been shown to be biased in the first place) that Mingjue can’t be controlled, JGY is facing the corner, so we can’t see his immediate reaction. We just really don’t know what his expression did. When he turns around, his face is steely and without any affection and he simply tells Xue Yang to kill him. (And when he does, he takes a step back, even though his face remains flat.)

But what we do see that he is doing the thumb rubbing thing behind his back, which is shown repeatedly to be a nervous, self soothing gesture when things are going wrong--like at Guanyin Temple. This does not seem to be the outcome he wanted, though I’m sure he considered it a possibility.

So it looks like he wanted Mingjue to survive the qi deviation, in one form or another, because a) why bother when he’s already tied down and at your mercy, if he just straight up wanted him gone, why even bother? and b) when Mingjue bolted, he had people bring him back to the Jin basement. No one else knew where he went--we could also posit that this is because he didn’t want any evidence left, but what other conclusion would people come to besides ‘Nie Mingjue finally snapped’?

He has been historically known to do things that put him and his plans in danger to keep Mingjue alive when it’s not necessarily in his own best interests. So. What’s up with that?

I think the reason cql has so much emotional resonance with fans is how widely applicable the emotional drama it taps into is, despite the extremely specific circumstances. loneliness and isolation as a young teenager...the struggle to communicate honestly...a fraught, tense family dinner...just wanting to be with your family...grieving not just people but the life you thought you'd have...I just think about the video of that mom watching cql and crying as wwx cries, saying she knows just how he feels. its sad, but its also cathartic and can be comforting

a lot of this emotional resonance is driven by wwx, and it's so meaningful to witness and experience with him not despite but BECAUSE of his wildly variable behavior. because it's all true to him, you know? even when he lies, he's sincere and passionate (angry, happy, heartbroken, in love, smug, mischievous, murderous, gentle, sarcastic, brutal) and so many people can see their experiences in him because he genuinely has such a vast range of emotion.

#also he's suffered in like. so many ways. my god #if you've ever felt pain or fear there's a good chance you can relate to wwx #NOT that he's generic or an everyman. he's very distinct and a strong character! #I just mean he plays the full gamut of emotions up to 11 and a lot of people have the chance to see themselves reflected in him #cql txp

i'm watching the untamed w a friend and i like it, and some of the rewriting (in particular the yin iron and making wwx's last cut for jin guangyao) is pretty good, but it really does take away most of wei wuxian's agency in the story? obviously he's the main character and the plot mostly centers around him or whatever but cql REALLY does not want him to make even a Single Bad Decision. demonic cultivator su she is the biggest example of this (let wei wuxian be responsible for jin zixuan's death 2k23) but also in, like, making demonic cultivation an existing branch of cultivation instead of wwx inventing it and completely getting rid of the members of the wen remnants who were able-bodied cultivators.

in the books wwx is literally losing his mind to the point where he definitely goes too far on multiple occasions (and sometimes seems to revel in it), and even though it's a result of the resentment corrupting his temperament it's still a choice wwx is making. present-day novel wwx looks back on his days as the yiling patriarch and admits to himself that he agrees with the people who go around saying "man that patriarch guy really crossed a line here and there." cql!wwx, however, has no need for that because it's like nothing he does comes with its own inherent consequences, which sort of takes away from the message of the book when everything is reduced to a black-and-white, good-is-always-good-and-evil-is-always-evil morality.

tl:dr: let cql!wwx have an actual impact on the story, COWARDS (read: cql writers)

hello. okay. yanqing. one of them. hurts their hand. doing somethjng. and the other is concerned. 100+. go.

For someone who is trained in the art of sneaking into kitchens in the dark, Yanli does not do a very good job of sneaking into Wen Qing’s room.

It’s not entirely her fault that she’s caught. She could’ve gotten away with it if 1) her girlfriend wasn’t already inside and 2) it wasn’t still light outside, making her clearly visible.

Wen Qing is sitting at the table when she enters, organizing her medical scripts by topic. They’re usually in order, but she had a patient earlier in the day who’d claimed that her initial (correct) diagnosis was wrong, and they had asked to see all of her books on their hypothesized illness. Wen Qing had taken them all out dutifully, laid them on the table, and waited for the patient to come to the same conclusion she had upon her first assessment.

After the patient was sent off with their prescribed treatment and a sheepish shame, Wen Qing had complained to her about it, and Yanli had just kissed her forehead in sympathy.

I should charge by shichen, Wen Qing said to her. That’ll teach them not to waste my time.

You won’t, out of the kindness of your heart, Yanli replied, knowing.

I won’t, Wen Qing conceded, grumbling.

“A-Li?” Wen Qing greets her, her eyebrows knitting together.

Yanli knows she must look like a sight, clutching her barely concealed wound in her sleeve, doing a horrible job of hiding her injury. There’s a light sheen of sweat on her face from suppressing the pain and redirecting her qi from her lungs to her hand as well.

“A-Qing,” she swallows, forcing a smile. “I didn’t think you’d be in here.”

Wrong choice of words. Her girlfriend’s eyes narrow in suspicion, darting to her so-called hidden hand. She really does know her too well.

“What happened to your hand?” Wen Qing asks slowly, placing aside her medical scripts in a neat stack.

“It’s nothing, really,” Yanli tries to reassure. “It’s just, ah, a small cut—”

The blood from the gash on her palm chooses that moment to seep through the layers of napkins and the fabric of her sleeve, blooming crimson on the front side of the lilac cloth. Wen Qing stands up and crosses the room in a few strides, the sight snapping her into action.

Yanli lets out a sigh. Betrayed by her own body once again.

“Just a small cut,” Wen Qing scoffs, reaching her, taking her bleeding hand and prying it from her grasp. She unfurls her palm like a flower, blossoming sticky red on them both, the stained napkins littering the floor.

Wen Qing exhales sharply through her teeth, running her finger gently along the gash to check how deep it’s gone. Yanli winces, not at her touch, but in bracing for the scolding that’s about to come.

“A-Li,” she says, her tone dangerous, dripping with a madness that can only be found in worry. “How on earth did you…?”

“You’ll laugh,” Yanli starts, and Wen Qing looks up at her with a smoldering glare. Yanli winces again. “Or not. It’s not one of my proudest moments. I was just chopping the ginger for tonight’s dinner, but one of the pieces wasn’t small enough, so I went to slice it… but then the knife ended up slipping, missing the piece, and cutting into my palm.”

Wen Qing gapes at her. “A-Li.”

“A-Qing,” she protests, “It’s not that bad.”

“You’re bleeding all over my floor and your sleeves,” Wen Qing says dryly. “We’ve surpassed the qualification for ‘not that bad’. Speaking of, come on.”

Wen Qing half-leads half-drags her over to the coffee table. When she’s seated, Wen Qing instructs her to stay put, and so Yanli does. She watches as she gets to work, filling up the water basin and carrying it over, along with a few soft towels. She picks a soothing and healing salve from her shelf, as well as a roll of clean bandages.

“You know you can ask one of your troublesome brothers to help you cut things instead,” Wen Qing says, sitting down and taking her hand again. She works on cleaning the blood off of her skin, and Yanli basks in the calmness of her movements. “Gods know they need it from running around all the time.”

Yanli laughs at the suggestion; it’s not outlandish, but it’s not ideal, either. “A-Xian actually enjoys cooking with me, though he has a tendency of setting things on fire that should not even be flammable in the first place. A-Cheng is a decent cook, but he prefers the cooking portion over the preparation.”

“Those boys,” Wen Qing says, shaking her head. “How you handle them, I have no idea.”

“They’re a piece of work,” she chuckles. With her hand clean, Wen Qing works on applying the salve, smoothing it over the area affected. “But they’re mine.”

Wen Qing hums in understanding. A-Ning gets into trouble of his own more times than she’d like to count, but she loves him all the same.

“I can help you too, you know,” Wen Qing offers. “If you’re ever in need of a taste-tester or someone to slice ingredients, and I’m not busy with a patient, just call for me. I will always answer you, A-Li.”

Yanli softens. Oh, how she loves this girl of the sun, this woman of a raging fire, bearing a heart risen from ashes.

“I know,” she whispers. “I would for you, as well.”

Wen Qing wraps the ends of the bandages over her palm with a doctor’s precision and a lover’s care, and Yanli loves and loves and loves. With a firm press to the edges, the bandages are sealed, rendering her hand mobile once more.

“Be careful next time, okay?” Wen Qing says, her expression impossibly serious, the same one she gives to her patients that keep returning after pulling off sword stunts that had no chance of being successful.

“I make no promises,” she replies, grinning.

Wen Qing gives her a fond, exasperated look, then presses kisses across her injured hand’s knuckles, faint and feather-light.

“My A-Li is so stubborn,” she murmurs, words ghosting against her skin. “Are you all better now?”

Yanli beams, her cheeks pink with warmth. “All better.”

Let’s talk about LHK please!!! He is on my list of people I wanna talk to when it comes to ZZ/WYB relationship and that is still true today. His most recent direct mention when it comes to the boys was when he posted buying tickets for Hidden Blade. We don’t know if he is still in contact with ZZ/WYB but it’s not a secret that this trio had a good relationship back in CQL filming and promotion.

I wanna say that LHK has that calm aura in him that would be pleasing to our boys. He is also someone quiet and will not purposely try to get attention by using them. I’ve always had that sense with the CQL cast, they have protected the boys from day 1 to now.

11/5, it was going around that LHK shared a video and there was a fan who commented a series of photos of him with ZZ and WYB asking, “Brother, does this picture look familiar?” he said let me reply to you in 4 words (characters) 完好无损. I looked it up and as per baidu it means intact/complete/without damage.

This could be interpreted into different things ; maybe he is talking about that point in time of promoting cql wherein they had an intact relationship and it was all good times. or that, even till now, their relationship is the same and it’s all good. ofc cpfs interpreted this as him confirming that the relationship between zz and wyb is stable whether that is as friends or more. tho we actually already know this. it’s just nice to see people they are close with indirectly give us some information.

Next he posted again and someone commented: brother, if bjyx is true please wear blue in your next post. Well, he did wear blue in his post after. 👀 ( the caption on p2 is: Even the wind is gentle when you are close to me. May we all have a moment of God's care. )

It’s yet another coincidence. Or is it? Maybe he wears a lot of blue clothes cause he is really a Lan hahahahahaha and it had nothing to with the comment. Who knows. I don’t remember the title or the author. It was on AO3. 10. Hello!! I love this blog, where I find fics to read!! A few days ago, I asked someone to find me a fic, but I'm here again because I remembered med and another fic that I loved reading, but currently can't find.

The things I remember: Wangxian has an spiritual connection, which is why the golden core transfer does not occur (and it is qing who informs Wei Ying of the connection, as Madam Yu knew and gave tea to undo the connection but it did not work ) and if I'm not mistaken Yanli is the one who told Wei Ying that the spiritual connection no longer exists (which is obviously wrong)

If you can't find it, I ask you to recommend something similar.

14. Hi! For next fic finder, could you help me find a modern wangxian au with combination of arranged marriage, marriage of convenient (i think it is), and contract marriage. YZY arranged a marriage between WWX and LWJ for a bussiness cooperation. WWX agreed to that so he can get away from the Jiang (especially YZY) and to make his own carrier. Then LWJ and WWX make a contract to make the marriage last until 2 years and decided if they want to keep the marriage or not. I think LWJ playing his guqin and WWX is used to that and when 2 years almost up, WWX didnt want to get divorce. The fic is focused about them getting to know each other. I think thats all i can remember. I read that in 2021 so the detail is kinda patchy. If you dont know the fic at least a confirmation that im not the only one that ever read this. Hi, im #14. Unfortunately its not the fic that iam searching for. The one that iam serching for focused on wangxian, other characters barely appears. Even the jiangs only gets mentioned. Wwx didnt work for Jiang, i think he is graphic design freelancer? The agrement for divorce is between the two of them, their family didnt know about their agreement. They choose how long they stay together before divorce after they think that the project between their family is finished so their divorce wont effect the project. WWX even has a plan after their divorce to open his own office. If i remember corectly, WWX realize he didnt want to get divorced is a few days before the day of their divorce. Like he is in his room and thinking that after their divorce, he cant listening to LWJ playing his guqin and spend their days together and he didnt want that.

20. Hello! I’m looking for a fic where during the Sunshot Campaign, Wei Wuxian was able to tame the Xuanwu, resulting in victory. However, he wasn’t fully able to control its bloodlust so it was sequestered onto an island in Lotus Pier.

However, he leaves one day for a brief visit to Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli, JGS paid a child to visit the island and the child is killed. This causes WWX to go with the Xuanwu into the water surrounding the island and he disappears for many years.

Later on, Jin Ling ends up trying to prove himself by going into the forest surrounding this island (which has since filled with resentful energy). And finds that WWX has come back and the Xuanwu has been purified.

OH MAN. My dash is curated like a well-funded museum so I am blissfully sheltered from nonsense. However, based on hearsay and in no particular order...

Literally anything about Mo Xuanyu. My primary frame of reference is CQL (a disclaimer I feel obliged to put on any meta posts, this one included!), which says next to nothing about MXY. I genuinely thought, based on what I'd seen in fandom, that Novel MXY was canonically a petite uwu soft goth boi who'd been part of the Jinlintai Demonic Cultivation Research Department until JGY falsely accused him of harassment and expelled him as part of his Evil Keikaku(TM). And like... that's all possible, and fully workable within the canon framework, but it's not indisputably textual. It's a shame, because I'd find all of these fanons compelling if they weren't repeated as fact!

Mean Lesbian Wen Qing. As with the above, this is fully workable within canon, and I fully sympathize with being a queer woman who wants to see other queer women in fiction. This is even hypocritical of me, perhaps, given how I am so deep in the weeds with the fanons of Lesbian Margaery Tyrell and Lesbian Johanna Mason (for the books, not the adaptations) that I genuinely forget that this isn't canon. But Johanna and Margaery both have meaningful (and quite charged imo!) on-page interactions with other women outside their families in their source material. Wen Qing doesn't, because this canon is deeply disinterested in what its female characters are up to. Lesbian Wen Qing feels less like desperately latching onto queer subtexts and more like a convenient way to remove her from the male characters and/or dunk on Jiang Cheng. If there were an abundance of Wen Qing femslash to accompany this fanon, I'd fell differently, but as it stands... nah, son.

Mean Hypermasculine Dom Nie Mingjue. Maybe it's different in the novel (though based on my understanding of Novel Da-Ge, why would you bother?), but in CQL? Where he feels his emotions up to 11 and cries about all of them? Where his memories of Meng Yao in Nightless City feature an assertive Meng Yao with flawless contouring, on-point eye makeup, and a level of manhandling and verbal degradation that is not at all present in the original version of this scene? The sensitive man with comically horny memories of being captured by his ex gets off on being a macho seme caricature? lololol okay.

Jin Guangyao and Nie Huaisang, Diabolical Murderous Supergeniuses. Canon is quite clear that neither of these men are the brilliant chessmasters fanon makes of them. Jin Guangyao plans meticulously, but he's far from ruthless; as others have pointed out, Jin Guangyao preserves a whole slew of people it would've been more practical to kill, with results that lead directly to his downfall. Nie Huaisang is ruthless, but he doesn't plan for shit; his strengths are his swift reaction time and his ability to hold a grudge, because it is straight-up not possible for Nie Huaisang to anticipate all of the events after the timeskip. They're both forces to be reckoned with, but they both get too much credit as schemers.

Wei Wuxian is basically A-Yuan's dad. This might not even count as a fanon, but 1.) I cannot STAND the tendency for fandoms to impose nuclear family roles onto character dynamics, and 2.) Wei Wuxian knew A-Yuan for like 1.5 years when A-Yuan was a toddler and wasn't even his primary caregiver. Do you think of your preschool or kindergarten teachers--who spent more time with you per day than Wei Wuxian spent with A-Yuan--as your long-lost parents? PROBABLY NOT.
