I appreciate that FCG and Imogen doing the double Detect Thoughts with Calm Emotions on Ashton to explore his blocked PTSD memories is very similar to how MDMA trauma therapy works.

An oversimplification: The MDMA & a soothing environment (a purpose-built clinic, in a bed, with or without music) basically act like Calm Emotions. Then two therapists working together for safety help the patient safely explore traumatic memories without retraumatization.

John Oliver talked about it in his recent segment on Psychedelic Assisted Therapy. Really worth a watch.

FCG and Imogen made the mistake of dropping Calm Emotions early and having everything flood back into Ashton way too soon. He needed more time to process safely. But it did help Ashton process the memory a lot and learn from it.

I absolutely loved Matt's DMing of that final scene. He hinted multiple times that Laudna should investigate the stone - in the "Ok the DM is guiding me towards here for plot progression." way. He full on tricked Marisha into taking the stone JUST like how Delilah tricked Laudna into taking the stone and that is some brilliant roleplaying and game managing right there.
