Selkie: A Celtic mythological creature that is half seal and half woman, known for their seal skin coats...if someone takes a Selkie's coat, the selkie is then bound to them as their seal skin is what lets them return to the ocean.

Happy Mermay! I chose a Selkie/Harbor Seal for Veth because I thought the mythology lined up really well. Losing control of one's autonomy and body is something that really hit home for me as part of Veth's character and the whole story of the Selkie just fit too perfectly!

Actual scene of The Mighty Nine animated series (real) (not clickbait)

The camera pans to a mighty boat, sailing on the sea. On the horizon behind it, another boat follows. This one is quickly catching up the first.

All the crew is on deck readying for battle under the watch of Fjord. Nott screams at the men to get the cannons ready while Beau looks at the enemy ship with a big smile.

As the two ships come closer, Caduceus comes up on the deck, look at the other boat and wave his hand at it. The enemy ship is sweeped by a giant wave and crashes on a nearby island.

Caduceus goes back inside the ship.

An interesting take on Nott the Brave that I'd be interested to see in the M9 animated series, is further exploration into her goblin nature.

Sam mentioned multiple times on Talks Machina, Panels, and Q&A's that he interpreted the character to be slowly losing her halfling self to her new goblin tendencies. If her feelings are on overdrive due to being a goblin, have heightened stakes bring out a more monstrous side to her!

I'd love to see her start out the series seemingly more put together with only a few outbursts. But due to the pirate arc escalating her fear of water, and the Xhorhas arc showing her that goblin's can be accepted in society - she starts slipping more and more frequently.

Give me moments where she becomes vicious and feral, before snapping out of it and reminding herself of who she is. Make them few and far between to let it slip our minds, but also remind us that there is a ticking clock.

Kinda like Merida's mother in Brave, just knowing that the halfling is still there, but being overtaken
