I think among my complaints about dnd 5e (which, to be clear there are many) is the legendary resistance issue. I know why it exists mechanically, but as someone who has played almost exclusively warlocks and exist the head space of "I have two spell slots and I need to make them count" for most/all of the 5e games I've been in, legendary resistances are by far the biggest "fuck you for saving resources" I've seen.

Like. If I fight through a whole dungeon, relying on the old warlock staple Eldritch blast and racial spells exclusively, it feels like shit when the boss can just nuh-uh your spell for no cost to them and AFTER failing. I'm not a fan of counterspell in 5e either, but at least there's some cost to using it over resistances, which RAW doesn't even eat a reaction. The only cost on the enemies resources is they have one less nuh-uh in their pocket. It sucksss

Trying to refresh my 1st doll since he kind of does nothing in the corner of the shelf. Not sure what outfit I want to do for him.

I printed the fibonacci crown I sculpted, but then I broke it removing it from the supports. RIP I made the ring in the middle holding the diamonds together thicker and will print it again in stronger resin.

The sailor moon wand I downloaded from thingiverse worked well. Just need to sand away a few imperfections. I might be living dangerously with the tiny wings in those design though.

Also printed the teeth for the Lil Devil Kabbit head I commissioned a slight variation of. I think I am gonna print the Lil Devil in purple.

And a face-up & body blush commission I am working on that Lilly decided to photobomb

Exarch (Monster)

(The Exarch cycle is most well known for the blue member- the Deceiver Exarch- which was part of the infamous Splinter Twin combo that formed the backbone of an incredibly powerful combo/control deck in the youth of the Modern format. If those words were jibberish, don't worry, Splinter Twin doesn't matter any more.

They were originally printed as only having the creature type Cleric, no species or race, and have a pretty interesting and coherent visual design. This makes them perfect to slot into the mid-level support role of Phyrexian monsters.)

CR10 LE Medium Aberration (Phyrexian)

Exarchs are spiritual speakers of phyrexia, evangelizing their ideology of superiority and assimilation, and enforcing the religious tenants of toil and flagellation to those who have already become one. Exarchs are dogmatic and rigid; their faith is incurious, and they quickly resort to logical loops or violence if asked to defend their arguments.

Exarchs of different sects of phyrexia have superficial differences, but all are built the same; they are eyeless and neckless, their jaws simply part of their large chests, and have three arms; two weaker arms on one side, which they use to wield a staff, and a single arm on their other side, which has a large claw used to maim both enemies and members of the faith.

This vaguely person-shaped being has no head- just a sharp-toothed mouth jutting out of its chest- and has three arms; two smaller hands are carrying a staff, and the largest ends in long, bladelike claws.

An exarch’s holy symbol usually sits on the end of its staff. It does not gain domains.

Cindermaw Tiger - CR10 Magical Beast

A magical beast that would probably also make a good Pokémon.

You could use this creature by itself as a deadly encounter at level 6 to 8, possibly the pet of an overconfident BBEG who gives the mid-level PCs to his lava tiger as a meal and then walks away.  But since it’s a beast with 2 Int, I figure most people will probably use it as part of a normal encounter in a high level volcano adventure - I tried to give it abilities that worked for both situations, making the fight interesting without being too much to track if you have four of them.

Cindermaw tigers are one of those monsters where my instinct is to explain its existence with a simple “A wizard did it!” and move on.  So that’s what I’m doing.  They can mostly be found volcanic areas and in the Plane of Fire.  They’re not elementals, though, because they’re not naturally occurring on the Plane of Fire.  The Plane of Fire has mad wizards too, and they make crazy magical beasts just like the wizards anywhere else.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Heat (Ex) The body of a cindermaw tiger generates intense heat, dealing 1d8 points of fire damage with its touch.  Creatures attacking a cindermaw tiger unarmed or with natural weapons take fire damage each time their attacks hit.

Inferno Roar (Su) Once per day as a standard action, a cindermaw tiger can let out a burning roar.  The cindermaw tiger gains 1d8+10 temporary hit points for 4 rounds, and all enemies within 60 feet that can hear the roar must succeed at a DC 21 Will save or be shaken and unable to willingly approach the cindermaw tiger for 4 rounds.  Creatures that are shaken by this ability also catch on fire, taking 1d6 fire damage per round.  A creature that is on fire can use a standard action to extinguish itself as normal, but the fire is also automatically extinguished as soon as the shaken condition ends.  This is a fear effect.  The save DC and duration are Constitution-based.

Lava Waves (Su) Twice per day as a swift action, a cindermaw tiger can conjure four 5 ft. x 5 ft. lava waves on the ground in spaces adjacent to it - these spaces cannot be adjacent to each other, and each lava wave must be pointing a different direction.  Each lava wave stands in place, pointing in a specific direction and ready to crash in that direction until directed to by the cindermaw tiger.  It is possible to move through the lava waves, but while a lava wave is standing in place, any creature that enters a lava wave’s square, starts its turn there, or touches a lava wave takes 4d6+4 fire damage with no save.

As an immediate action at any point during another creature’s movement, or as a swift action on its own turn, the cindermaw tiger can release these lava waves.  Each lava wave crashes forward and deals 4d6+4 fire damage in a 20-ft. line in the direction it is pointing, and then disappears.  Creatures can make a DC 21 Reflex save to halve the damage.  The save DC is Constitution-based.

Here is some shots of the present I made for my niece @ra1_177 , this is the character Arthur Leywin from "The beginning after the end" I have no idea what it is but know it is the favourite at the moment! Nidalee Kit Breakdown: The Teeth

3D Printing (forgot to take photos of this part - oops)

The master was 3D printed at .2 layer height on a CR10S with PLA+. After sanding and and spraying with filler primer, it was ready for molding. 

Molding

I made a two part mold using Mold Star 30 and sulfate-free clay. Once the first half was done curing, the mold was flipped over, had the clay removed, added mold release and then was able to pour the second half of the silicone.

Once both halves of the mold were fully cured and ready to use, I used an Xacto knife to create a pour spout. This is where the resin is poured.

Casting

Because my client was going to be wearing 8 of the 12 teeth on her hips as a belt, keeping the weight down was of utmost importance. Luckily, there is FeatherLite, a lightweight resin that’s pourable and workable like any other hard resin. Weight differences between Featherlite (80g / 2.2oz) and SmoothCast 300 (120g / 4.2oz). These casts were made with the exact same mold. It may not seem like much, but there are 12 in total so the weight really adds up! The client only has to lug around .9 kilos (1.9lbs) versus 1.4 kilos (3lbs)

Once all 12 teeth were cast, there was the usual cleanup job like removing the pour spout, sanding the seams, and filling in any imperfections and gaps. After that, it was time for the best part!

Painting

Here is a quick overview of my painting process of the teeth. I used Createx and Golden acrylics using an Iwata airbrush.

Spray primer > Base coat (white) > Base coat (yellow) > Orange-ish midtones > Darker shading > Clear coat x3

After that all the client has to do is attach them to her cosplay!
