Ooof, the Ford v Ferrari movie about the Le Mans race in 1966 was so nice, but I’m really glad I googled the racer Christian Bale played cause otherwise that ending would’ve upset me if I had been unprepared. I’m still upset tbh.

But the movie was so much fun. So many gorgeous cars. So many people who love said cars. Enzo Ferrari insulting the Ford people in Italian. Beautiful.

#spoiler alert: when I looked up the racer I saw that he died in August 1966 which was the year of the race the movie is about #he did survive the race but in the next scene they had him try out a new car and lost control for unknown reason #and died in the resulting crash #I mean imagine absolutely killing it and being super great at what you do and impressing the whole world #and then boom you die doing the thing you’re great at #but damn being a race car driver would’ve been cool #or just riding shotgun once with a professional driving #just to find out what a car can really do cause you don’t really get to experience that in real life #I mean some people take their Miatas on the Nürburgring #couldn’t be me haha #but yeah. raving would be cool #my mom would hate it #and damn that scene with Enzo Ferrari #they had a translator in the scene cause the Americans didn’t know Italian #so when Enzo started insuring them I understood every word and the translator was like 😬 #and I was like ‘ooohohohohoho’ #and then I got to experience the glorious awkwardness of the translator repeating it #very nice
