"He's gone? What do you mean gone?"

Floyd could sense your distress. Panicked voice squeaking and your eyes darting all over the small backstage area for your boyfriend, on how exactly he could've left without you catching him.

You were in front of the stage, courtesy of being the partner of a band member, which was amazing but also granted limited viewing if they went too far back. From what you did see, the expressions were a solemn mixture of embarrassment, anger, disappointment.

You barely paid attention to the fans, who were also attempting to go in the same direction as you. Getting caught up in them took a whole lot of convincing the security.

But still, you were just at the door, and you heard him through it. Where had he gone? Was he okay? He fell from a very tall place in front of a crowd of fans, which was probably more damaging to him compared to actually getting injured—but not for you.

You watched him stumble backstage, stumble.

Baby Branch hid behind Floyd, wrapping the little leaf-sewn vest around his body, looking from his older brother to you, worried.

Where's the rest of the band?

"He just left. Everyone did. The band's..." Floyd paused, sighing, "BroZone's over."

You stood confused, your brows furrowing at his words. Over? How could they be over? This was just the start of their world tour. The band couldn't just break up over one failure.

"Over?"

They weren't that fragile, were they?

You loved all the brothers; they were like your own family, but your worries were set on only one of them for the time being.

"Did J at least say where he was going?"

Floyd nodded his head but remained unsure of what your thoughts would be on his answer. He glanced down at baby Branch, who was huddled around his leg.

"He was upset, really upset," he explained. "Said he was going to go hiking to the Neverglades... alone."

The change in your face told him everything, and he was quick to extend his hands in front of him. "But John Dory always says crazy things like that, and he never goes through with them. I'm sure he probably just went up to The Point."

That did seem like a logical explanation, and it was. Floyd may not have been the oldest, but he always had reason and logic behind his smart words.

"You're right." You were still stressed, no doubt, but that calmed your fears down. "Are you guys gonna be okay?"

Floyd spared another guilty glance at Branch and nodded, offering a soft smile and urging you to go look for your lover.

The troll tree was huge, and even with its large size, it was hard to find any area that wasn't already occupied. Trolls made sure to take advantage of all their space; it was their home, and they made the most of it.

But even with every taken, there was one place that was free from everyone else.

A special spot reserved for you and your lover.

The Point.

Little knew about the spot, and those who did ensured it remained private.

Hidden in the leaves was a branch sticking out high enough to conceal the ugly Bergen town that surrounded them and gave them access to the beautiful night sky.

You and John Dory liked to go there a lot. Whether it be dates or to blow off steam (not like that for the weirdos), if he'd go anywhere after an accident like today, he'd go there.

He was very athletic and made a show of it whenever you'd go together, carrying you up. Bridal style or pulling you up with his strong locks—the point was, you had trouble going up on your own.

It took a while—a hard struggle—but it'd be worth it to see your boy up there and cheer him up.

They couldn't just break up; they just needed their leader to see that.

"John Dory?"

You called upon reaching the top, pushing the heavy leaves out of your way, careful not to slip off the branch.

"Baby, are you here?" Your voice was soft; you didn't want to alarm him. He could be really sensitive sometimes.

That thought brought a faint smile to your face. A smile fell upon the realization that he wasn't up here. If not up here, where could he have gone?

Home?

Knowing JD, you doubted it. If this was as serious as Floyd had put it, as serious as he looked, he wouldn't have just gone home.

And so your search ensued.

You spent days looking for him. Not a spot in the tree was untouched or unsearched by you. Somehow, the troll had just disappeared. No signs. No letters. No goodbyes.

He left you alone to suffer. Wondering where he'd gone, if he was okay, and if you guys were okay.

It was a coincidence, truly.

How on the day you reminisce when he left you without even a word explaining his sudden disappearance all those years ago was the same day you'd find John Dory on your doorstep.

"Come on, baby, could you let me in?"

"Baby?" you scoffed, remaining with your back slammed against the door in exasperation. "You lost the right to call me that a very long time ago."

One moment you were having a nice day, reading a nice book by your fireplace, enjoying the pitter-patter of rain outside, and the thunder struck, shaking you in the best way possible.

And the next...

"It's cooold..."

He whined, banging on the door desperately.

You couldn't bear to look at him; the second you already spent doing so when you opened the door was enough. He had a face that you'd never forget.

How'd he even find you?

"Go. Away." you growled.

"But it's cold outside."

You clenched your jaw, glaring at the door handle as he shook it. JD used little effort to push at the door; by the weight of it, he could tell you were against it. Not that it mattered.

He was strong; he could easily open it if he wanted to.

"You simply must go."

"Baby, it's cold outside."

If John Dory thinks a little singing is enough to serenade you, he is more of an idiot than you are already aware he is. You weren't a teenager helplessly in love with a silly musician from next door, you were grown.

Mature.

His tricks weren't going to work on you.

"The answer is no."

"But baby, it's cold outside."

He put more pressure, pushing, and you cursed for the lack of a lock on your door.

Trolls don't do locks! They don't have anything to worry about!

Except ex-boyfriend's trying to come in and ruin your life all over again.

"The welcome has been-."

"You should feel so lucky I dropped in."

You rolled your eyes, sarcasm dripping with your words, "So nice and warm."

He pushed the door, slipping a leg in to stop it from shutting completely, peeking a crack. You groaned and peered through it at him.

Sharp glares were directed at him, and gosh, if only looks could kill, he would've dropped dead right now.

He looked stupid.

Stupid puppy eyes with his stupid goggles and a stupid pout on his stupid face. He was soaked from head to toe, the rain falling on him more and more every second he stood outside.

My, did he look pathetic?

BANG!

He shrieked, desperation on his face and voice, jumping at the loud crash of thunder, lighting up the dark sky.

He turned back to you, singing rapidly.

"Look out the window at that storm!"

"Ugh, okay! Come in!"

His face lit up, the door swinging open, and he rushed in, soaking your carpet with rain as you shut the door behind him, slamming it hard enough that the whole house shook with force.

He glanced at you in surprise, getting a glare in return.

JD opened his mouth to speak, obviously nothing nice with the smug look on his face, and you were quick to shut him down.

"Don't."

He clamped his mouth shut, smirking and holding his hands up in defense. "I wasn't gonna say anything."

"Stay."

You urged with a pointed finger, walking off to your bathroom in search of a towel.

"Yes, your majesty."

You hated him with every fiber of your being, but you weren't cruel. He might've been, but you weren't. Any troll would do the same as you; offer him some refuge from the storm outside.

Returning with a towel, you didn't bother passing it to him, tossing it and smacking him right in the face.

Maybe you were a little cruel.

He reacted with a huff, taking it and wrapping it around himself, not bothering to dry himself like ordered, but more like a shelter from the cold.

"Is that how you treat your boyfriend after all these years?"

John Dory tutted, shaking his head in disappointment as he took a single step in your direction.

"Boyfriend?" you scoffed.

"I mean, technically, we never broke up."

Oh, you wanted to punch his little ugly face so bad.

"You disappearing without saying anything was us "technically" breaking up." You did air quotations with another roll of your eyes, speaking before he did, exasperated.

"Why are you even here, John Dory?"

He stayed silent for a few moments, pondering what exactly to say. What could he say? He knew it was stupid of him to even come in the first place. He knew you'd be angry, upset, but not like this.

You didn't look the slightest bit happy to see him.

His smugness dropped along with his shoulders, and he took a breath.

"I need your help."

He looked dead serious. So serious.

You shook your head, your lips curling up in disbelief. "You need my help. Right." your arms crossed, "You leave, disappear off to who knows where, say nothing, suddenly come back after 20 years, and you decide you want my help?"

A short and dry laugh left you.

John Dory really was unbelievable.

"I knew you wouldn't want to see me..."

"I don't want to see you." You cut him off with a grimace, ready to say more-

He had that same desperate look.

Honestly, it brought you back. It brought you back to all those years ago, when both of you were young.

John Dory was always a terrible boyfriend, cocky and arrogant, bossy, too busy with BroZone to give you the time you needed. It hurt you. You loved him so much, and he didn't seem to always reciprocate those feelings. And each time you guys would argue and break up, he would be the first to return with a bouquet of your favorite flowers.

"Leave me alone, John. You can't just come back and expect me to accept you. That's not how life works! If you wanna be in a relationship, you have to commit-..."

"Can you please just listen?"

He stared at you with a small pout, furrowed brows, eyes pleading into yours for you to give him a second chance. His stupid, loving eyes knew exactly how you worked. How exactly to work you.

The only difference right now was that he came empty-handed.

Nevertheless, it effectively shut you up.

"I fucked up all those years ago, I know. I fucked up leaving you. That's the biggest mistake I've ever made. I should've said goodbye, apologized, invited you to come with me- I should've done something!" He ranted, "But I didn't. And I just left..."

John Dory expected you to say something. One of your snarky remarks and cut him off, tell him he's wrong or right, and degrade him on what a terrible person he is because he is well aware of it.

But he's trying.

"Baby, you of all trolls know how terrible I am at apologies," he sighed.

And you didn't bother to correct him on your name; looking at him up and down, eyes still narrowed. You were still angry, you'd probably be angry for a very long time, but for the moment... you'd put it aside.

"What do you need help with?"

His face lit up, beaming at you at your acceptance, not denying him completely, not shunning the troll out, and kicking him back into the rain. You were hearing him out.

You noticed the look and huffed, "Just because I'm asking does not mean I'm going to say yes."

"Floyd's been kidnapped."

Your expression softened, and your mouth fell open in a quiet gasp.

"Kidnapped?"

"I got a letter from him saying he got kidnapped by popstars Velvet and Veneer." He went on and explained the story about how he went to see him and help him escape, only to fail: "-The only way to free him is by singing the perfect family harmony."

You loved Floyd to this day. It'd been years since you'd last talked to him, heard of him at all, but the same amount of affection you felt for the troll remained.

"I need to get the band back together. And... I really can't do it on my own. I'm not sure if they want to see me any more than you did-."

You cut him off a lot.

"I'll help," he grinned. "But not for you. For Floyd. Don't think I've forgiven you yet."

"Yet?"

"Shut up."

Uh-huh. You realize, coming from a 26 year old, that this is just ageism, right? "I'll only take you seriously because of your age"... and you think you're in the right?

Yeah, "14 years olds act more 14 about it" because typically a group with absolutely zero societal power that is literally treated as the subhuman property of their parents and irrational mindless inconveniences that are only here to annoy "real people" will get upset when you continue to treat them as such while reminding them of the absolute privilege and societal power you hold over them.

I was 14 too. I remember the frustration at no one taking me seriously. I remember the fury that when I turned 18, 20, 25, suddenly everyone believed me about the things I'd been saying for 4, 6, 10+ years. I remember the disillusionment that happened when I realized the only thing that had changed was not some arbitrary debunked number at which the brain "develops fully", not some threshold of "maturity", but simply that I was no longer the age at which the state had a chokehold around my personhood, or in some cases the age which people think my human rights should have been delayed to.

Because it's not like adults EVER have bad opinions about something you say online, right? It's not like they don't FREQUENTLY respond to you trying to talk to them about it with stubborn and willful ignorance. It's not like the OP of this or a similar post didn't once respond to my detailed and logical essay about ageism with "lol I'm not reading all that". It's not like unreasonableness and angry nastiness at a post is utterly unlinked to the age of the person perpetrating it, and people of all ages do this in equal numbers.

Oh wait, it's exactly like that, it's just that society supports and even rewards the exact same misbehaviors in privileged people that they condemn in marginalized people.

It's just that when an adult does this, it's either that they're arbitrarily right based on their age/other privileged identity and often the marginalized status of the person arguing against them (see: OP, every argument on antisemitism where goyim are seen as the rational and reasonable and therefore right ones), the person arguing is being "immature" and "might be lying about being an adult' or "is acting like a child" (transmascs being silenced about their oppression using infantilization, the concern trolling of people who are happily 'crazy', the infantilization of disabled people and especially those who are intellectually, cognitively, or developmentally disabled), or both.

They're right. Their age has nothing to do with what they're saying. However, it has everything to do with how you're mistreating them. If they had no age in their bio, you might have taken them seriously, at least enough to believe they might listen to your viewpoint and to treat them like an equal human being.

If they had had an age above (usually 20-25), your last grasp at defense would have been to discredit them by comparing them to a 14 year old or accusing them of lying about their age, precisely because even adjacency to that identity allows you to shut down any argument they make.

Unfortunately, when you're in your 20s and 30s, everything is influenced by how fucking 20-40 you are. You forget exactly how cruel and oppressive society is to children. You forget how people magically started treating you like a person instead of a thing that existed only to "irrationally" be angry at the world around you. You forget how you were right to be angry at how they treated you.

You forget that you were legally allowed to have someone else dictate what and when you ate, how you dressed, whether you received necessary medical care, whether unnecessary medical procedures such as intersex "correctional" surgeries and treatment were forced on you at any age, when and for how long you were allowed to leave the house, and if they hit you in a well-known erogenous zone it would have been considered "discipline" as long as they called it "spanking" and not "physical and sexual abuse. You forget this and any number of other things considered abusive if a partner or roommate were to do it to even someone who had just turned 18 two seconds ago.

You forget that while it was technically illegal for your parents to starve you, to beat you, to emotionally abuse you by gaslighting or daily verbal abuse or manipulation, to torture you, to sexually abuse you, to hurt you to the point of you developing PTSD and or dissociative disorders, that there is very little recourse for actually enforcing it. You forget that you just have to hope that a different adult believes you, and in order for them to do that you usually have to fit a stereotype of a good victim and that your parents usually already have to be not in good standing with your community.

You forget how many cases of actual textbook abuse CPS does nothing about for "lack of proof" despite a supposed societal narrative of "believe victims".* You forget that they prioritize reunification even in cases of actual physical abuse, often with the abuser themself. You forget that you were a member of the only class that can have the police called on them like dogcatchers to drag them back kicking and screaming to their abusers, with no recourse or means of escape provided, because the state depends on and serves the institution of the "nuclear family". You forget that historically police served to return escaped property to their owners, and still do so today.

(*Believe victims if they have any measure of societal power that causes consequences for not believing them. Believe victims as long as you will be judged by most people for not believing them. Believe victims only if you can be held accountable for not doing so.)

As a disabled person and therefore a vulnerable adult, I had the unique position of being treated as a child until I escaped at age 23. It was all the same arguments - that it was "for my own good", that I was "incapable of making those decisions for myself" (or apparently, finding someone I did trust to make them for me, because I was "unreliable enough" I couldn't even do that), and so on.

This only made me realize that, despite the fact that none of that was true, it wouldn't be okay even if it was. It's not okay for disabled adults who DO need significantly more help caring for themselves than I do and who are profoundly cognitively or intellectually disabled to have their autonomy infringed on and their consent violated.

So why, then, is it okay to do to a child, regardless of their actual ability to take care of themselves or "make rational decisions"? Why is it okay to treat a child this way? Why is it okay to regard someone as fundamentally subhuman until an arbitrary cutoff?

Why is it okay to assume complete and total irrationality and unreasonableness on the part of an entire class of people just because as a subjugated and oppressed class they are still on rare occasion irrational or unreasonable? Isn't that bog-standard bigotry?

Why is it okay to justify their oppression by them being sometimes unable to fully stand on their own two feet, without help or community, under the weight of the oppressive system itself that serves to reinforce that? Why claim the purposeful elimination of tools and obscuration of helpful skills and knowledge under the guise of "protecting them" shows that they are incapable of surviving without those violences in a system that you claim is not, in fact, openly hostile to them?

And yes, this does all matter in the context of petty online discourse, because it is these systems that serve to reinforce and be reinforced by this casual ageism.

It is reaffirming the ideas which uphold these systems - that children are incapable of being rational people with reasonable emotional responses to mistreatment, who have to be told at every point what is in fact fair and how they must react to not face active bigotry for their immutable identity. It is conditioning children to beg for scraps of respect so that they learn assimilation early and go on to perpetuate childism when they themselves become adults.

It's petty and cruel, and it's destroying my faith in humanity to see marginalized people I otherwise respect sharing this. Y'all of all people should know better. Y'all of all people should be able to see how it maps to multiple of the various types of oppression and even intersectional oppression and then goes further.

Y'all of all people should be able to remember how being a child was your primary identity and primary form of marginalization, because you could legally be allowed to be abused for your other marginalized identities and most people in fact supported your family doing so, or at least felt that even if it was wrong it was still "their right" to do so.

Maybe you were privileged enough to have a supportive family, but I know for a FACT most of you weren't.

Kids are considered uniquely incapable of having any identity that is not immediately apparent - of knowing they are chronically ill or queer or plural or neurodivergent. They are considered incapable of having valuable and complex thoughts about politics or religion. They are not listened to or considered experts on the specific intersectional discrimination they face for immediately apparent identities, such as being children of color or visibly disabled. Adults within those groups are considered the experts on forms of discrimination they'll even admit they no longer experience, but that children continue to.

This is not just queerphobia or ableism or racism or any other number of forms of bigotry. This is specifically childism intersecting those forms of bigotry. It is not just not okay because of their queer or disabled or racial or other identity. It is not okay because children are fucking people, and yeah, deserve to be treated as equals and not be condescended to even in the actual rare cases where their reasoning is not completely rationally sound - just as is the case for disabled people, I might add.

If you can see how one is ableism but not how the other is bigoted childism, if you can't see the parallels between two cases where

-most individuals in a class are fully rational and intellectually capable people purposely being mislabeled as not so in order to justify their subjugation

-which is fundamentally reliant on the societal acceptance of mistreatment of those who may not be fully rational or intellectually capable (which is deeply ableist/childist, oppressive, and wrong),

-and where those who actually aren't fully rational or are intellectually incapable face no reprieve both in being weaponized against members of their own class with relative privilege AND in fighting their own mistreatment, which unlike in the case of those who might be able to convince others of their capability is considered always justified on the basis of their incapability, while not actually being okay on ANY basis,

then I can't help you.

To be clear, the reason it is ableist and/or childist to label someone as intellectually incapable when they are not is not at all because actually being so would be in any way bad. It's because it relies on the deep, insidious ableism/childism against those who are considered intellectually capable to function. It is essentially a separate facet of that same ableism/childism, and one specifically functions because of the other facet of ableism/childism that says that all members of said class are incapable and therefore need to be mistreated in the same way as those who actually are.

"No one deserves to be treated this way," is fundamentally how this oppression should be addressed, period. Understanding how it functions differently for different people, and how easily the most vulnerable members of an oppressed class could have their liberation tossed aside in order to pursue assimilation for the less vulnerable is still important, though. Understanding that your own oppression relies on the total subjugation of part of your community on the basis of an ontological trait that they have and you do not is actually paramount in recognizing both your own relative privilege and how to effectively fight the oppression you all face.

Or to put it simply, it's important to recognize that if you're being oppressed because someone is claiming you're something you're not, that that oppression isn't okay toward the people who are that thing.

Anyway, adults who talk about childism, adultism (I apologize that I struggle to remember the difference between the two, much like I struggle with the difference between ableism and disableism), and youth liberation also hold privilege. As I mentioned above, the most that someone can use to discredit me here is to say that I'm immature or they think I'm secretly a child.

Even the people who really don't want to examine their own privilege and complicity in their hierarchical relationship with children are more likely to listen to me, and if they don't they'll make fools of themselves with such lines as "I refuse to read anything longer than a twitter post to educate myself on complex systems of oppression".

I'll keep trying to stand up for children anyway. Not just because I actually remember what it's like to be 14, but because I have a responsibility to do so as an adult. I'll uplift the voices of the children who quite honestly are way better at explaining this and have a far better understanding of both the direct experience and the sociological theory behind it than I ever will be.

Also note: I didn't anywhere in this post point out how people who are 17 and some months are functionally indistinguishable from those who have just turned 18, or how variations in "development" might cause some who are 15 or 16 to be very similar to others who are 18, or so on.

Quite frankly, I don't think that matters. I do think 14 year olds deserve to be treated with respect just as much as 17.99 year olds, and I also think often 17.99 year olds face much of the exact same mistreatment and oppression (especially systemically) as 14 year olds. The exceptions where legal emancipation can help those over 16 are both rare enough and require trading being controlled for being unsupported. Therefore I think that while a more nuanced conversation about this could take place within the communities actually affected by this, I think it's neither appropriate nor helpful here.

I'd also like to remind people that predators are often successful at grooming children because they pretend to treat them with respect and take them seriously. The answer to this should not be "oh, anyone who respects children is a groomer", but rather, "hey, maybe if everyone treated children with respect and took them seriously, actual predators would have one less avenue through which to target and harm children".

As a CSA victim myself, I will NEVER stop doing anything and everything I can to prevent more children from becoming victims. I only care about what's effective, not what feels good in pseudo-proxy revenge fantasies against imagined perpetrators while very real ones continue to go unnoticed and unchallenged by society.

I take children seriously because it's the right thing to do, but also specifically to fight CSA. I also remind anyone who needs it that they do NOT know they can trust me or anyone else on that sole basis. While I want to be a safe adult, doing so in a society where children have no recourse against mistreatment fundamentally requires them protecting themselves by not trusting me just because I recognize the power I have over them and the ways in which they are abused.

(This is another example of how the fearmongering mindset over generational friendships, particularly between minors and adults, is just as harmful as the pushback against comprehensive sex education and coming from the same puritan and christofascist roots. Knowing that something is sexual abuse just allows victims to voice what they're experiencing. Having safe adults who respect them allows children to recognize the manipulative behaviors and other red flags of unsafe adults.)

Anyway, all the original post is saying is "I don't like when members of an oppressed class stubbornly refuse to compromise on being treated as equal people with valuable thoughts and rational responses to mistreatment, and in fact insist on being listened to when I say things that are cruel, unfair, and untrue."

(When did use of "unfair" become a synonym for "whiny snowflakes children who just can't see that life is inherently unfair" in leftist spaces that purportedly fight against systemic injustice, anyway? When did it become something "immature" in the fight against identity-based violence that is inherently not fair?)

So I guess, act more 14 about it. I'll continue acting more disabled and queer about ableism and queermisia, so I fail to see what's bad about that. But imagine thinking that interacting with someone on the basis of their age is useless and thinking you're in the right for it. Truly showing their entire ass.

Velvet and Veneer AU idea (Travelling celebrities?)

So I've been cooking on this for a while, and I have an amazing AU idea for these two. What if Velvet and Veneer are actually "travelling celebrities", and they have been performing for a while like they did in the movie with hopes of finally getting the fame they "know they believe they deserve to have", but have to reinvent themselves, style, personality when they come close to getting caught. I've found some canon things that could pitch into this idea; like the wigs in their dressing rooms. Could have been from their past characters and styles. Maybe they've captured Trolls before and kind of fall under the genre of Troll they've captured. Veneer's first appearance, he's seen singing "Sweet Dreams" and has a somewhat country accent. Maybe from before Mount Rageous, they were under a country troll's influence? And he's used to singing that way? Velvet in this AU as well, could have been slowly losing herself due to reinventing herself so many times and kind of forgetting who she is. Veneer is better at keeping his head, and being logical, but Velvet is a fame-hungry sibling who would stop at nothing to get what she wanted. But after so many times of trying, she starts to lose the importance of her relationship with Veneer and starts taking things too far to get the fame she wants. I'd like to imagine she becomes obsessed with it, and when Mount Rageous takes place, she officially takes it too far with Floyd and it worries Veneer because he's never seen her this 'crazy'. He gives them up at the finale of the movie, because he's scared for himself and Velvet - and has come to the census that what they were doing is really wrong when they 'kill' Floyd. Velvet has lost herself and put herself at risk. I also like the idea of them changing their names, style, aesthetic, etc. when they move place to place to keep their identities hidden? And, when Veneer says, "We've been literally torturing little Trolls!" I know he's talking about Clay, JD, etc. but it would be cool to imagine that he meant previous Trolls as well? (Maybe Rock, Country, Disco, etc.) Rough idea. I plan on making comics for this or something? I'm mostly posting this to keep it written out since I will probably forget some details.

Bionicle is weird yall

Okay so let's talk Bionicle. The Lego action figures with surprisingly deep lore and themes, and basically one of the coolest things to ever exist. You either love Bionicle or have not read Bionicle.

Who's your favorite? Mine has got to be Kopaka. For various reasons, including his general competence throughout the whole story. He's just pretty rad.

Now, you might be surprised I like Kopaka, since all things considered he's kind of a prick. He snarks at basically everything that enters his line of sight, and largely acts kind of stuck up due to his (admittedly justified) belief that he's the smartest person around. He spends the entire story fed up with everything else. He is completely and utterly convinced that he is the only sane person in the entire universe, and that nothing in the entirety of Mata Nui is behaving in a logical and rational way.

But see, here's the thing: all of that bluster about being the only rational thing around is complete bullcrap and lies, and here's why:

Kopaka, like all the original six Toa, is an amnesiac. He popped out of a magic canister in the ground and basically has no backstory to speak of since before he woke up he essentially didn't exist. And we know he's not a possible exception to this since, unlike the other Toa, he's the one we actually see it happen to. He has legit no idea who he is until Nuju tells him. What this means is simple: KOPAKA HAS NO FRAME OF REFERENCE. You can't judge something to be insane if you have not experienced sanity. Nothing is "irrational" in the abstract, you need context. Most people have extremely well-developed context obtained by living, but since Kopaka had not yet lived until he woke up he has NONE OF THAT.

And even if he did, he'd still be a massive hypocrite. Sure, the Matoran society and the Makuta are kind of weird, but Kopaka is a TOA, and Toa are a whole new kettle of craziness. Kopaka is a magic space warrior robot with the power to control the very concept of THIS STUFF IS COLD. His face is a magic mask that grants him X-ray vision and then gets even more powers later on. He can physically combine with other Toa to create a weird mega fusion Toa. Heck, after his first upgrade his primary weapon was skis. SKIS. He basically shapeshifts into a new body every time he goes somewhere else. And, as noted before, he legit just popped out of the ground one day, which makes him and his sibling Toa objectively weirder than all other Toa ever, since all the rest are transformed Matoran. Kopaka's entire existence is really freaking weird. He has no legs to stand on in his "I am the only rational being in the universe" belief. So where the heck did he get it from?

The simple answer: Mata Nui himself. When designing the Toa to act as a sort of internal anti-virus for all the weird garbage in his system, Mata Nui decided "You know what let's make the Ice one a prick who thinks he's sane" and somehow that idea perpetuated to the very end of the design process. The only reason Kopaka has to deal with everything else seeming completely bonkers to him is because Mata Nui, massive benevolent Troll that he is, *made him that way*. I bet when Kopaka finally made it to Bara Magna he was probably internally extremely relieved, because now he could judge the Agori by comparing them to the Matoran and vice versa instead of judging the Matoran on no actual justification whatsoever.

TLDR Kopaka is my favorite Bionicle because the entire premise of his personality is absurd and he probably spent the entire plot trying to internally justify it. Also ice powers go brrrrr

I have a theory I would like your take on. Of course as a theory, it’s my opinion, yet I rarely see any Jikook blogs or obviously Army blogs speak to, actually I see most Jikook blogs vehemently deny the notion.

My opinion is that the Tae kook ship acts as a protection for Jikook. (I know you must be tired of hearing of taekookers)

Here is the moment that made me have this opinion solidified, well enough that I have it in my head as a theory.

In the infamous New Jersey Live. I remember watching it for the first time after seeing an analysis video that someone was in the room.

Anyway, like I always do I watch OG content and noticed something strange, which was Tae’s actions.

He came in the room, for the first time to me as a viewer, considering he didn’t know who’s room it was.

Anyways, fast forward someone speaks in the background and Tae in turn says “Weren’t we sharing the same room?” to JK.

Of all questionable Jikook moments this is the one that has me like ?????? and it isn’t even Jikook lol.

But then I thought about it from Tae’s perspective.

He clearly knows JK whispering to someone in the bathroom(fact). And, honestly like a good friend, he tries to cover it up (my opinion).

What I find interesting is that his way of kinda “not revealing” the secret or divert attention is by drawing attention to him and JK. That’s interesting, and I don’t understand why there is no thoughts on that.

My opinion is that Tae maybe was trying to normalize the behavior, and he thought well if I say we’re sharing a room, then ppl will focus on that instead of the secret rendezvous in the bathroom.

Which leads me to a bigger theory: Taekook normalizes Jikook.(totally my opinion)

imagine Jikook being a strong force, imo taekook is a strong force in the opposite direction.

I think if taekook wasn’t around, Jikook would stand out like a sore thumb. There are the first to negate even the most obvious Jikook moments. In my baby army stage even when every logical part of my brain was screaming there’s something up with these two, I watched taekook videos to shut it down. Like oh it’s just shipping, and move on.

I mean no one wants to even acknowledge the notion taekook acts a diversion for Jikook why? “If taekookers say this. Then I can’t think like this cause tkkers are crazy”

I think Tae is “protecting” them in the best way he knows how, by absolutely trolling the hell out of army.

I think if Jikook accidentally kissed on stage. Hobi would freeze, namjoon would die, yoongi would stare, Jin look away and Tae would just kiss Jk or Jimin to even it out and divert attention lol. Either that or smile idk.

I think that’s his way of protecting them and now that he’s possibly in a relationship, maybe protect himself.

I even want to say that in the past I thought it to be somewhat of a possibility. And not in the TKKs sick way of thinking that one queer relationship is showcased (JKK) to protect the second queer relationship (TKK), but more like Tae inserting himself into the mix to balance out the JKK interaction (like putting them on the same level so their interaction doesn't seem too suspicious). More like showing "we're all friends here, nothing queer going on..."

I thought it might be a possibility, even as close back as late 2021 (and only on certain occasions, because on other occasions it was as clear as day that Tae was there to troll them, as in to get in their faces and piss them off, lol).

I have also seen moments where Tae will be gatekeeping Jikook, but I don't think it was in a sense of pushing TKK, but more nudging the two out of a moment.

There are so many more examples of Tae 'inserting' himself or policing Jikook or trolling them, whatever the reason may be.

In any case, unlike you, I don't think that TKK as a ship was ever there to protect JM or JK.

Ok, I think I have to start from the beginning here though.

Shipping two people together does not necessarily mean you see them as a couple. It is a slippery slope and many do ship that way, but as a whole a ship can mean you like the connection between two people, and it can be a totally platonic one at that. Many Vminers are not about Vmin being a couple, and more about their close friendship (although there are those that still live in a dream that it has even been more than that).

So, when we talk about TKK as a ship, if we were talking about normal human beings and not a fucking cult, they could totally be perceived as a cute ship, AS FRIENDS, partners in crime (in the past), and more recently too (bowling buddies, gaming buddies, not going live buddies, cause that was just way too awkward).

If this fandom was constituted from mentally stable people, indeed I could maybe say that at times TKK as a ship can even out the JKK interactions and be used by them to balance things out a little and take the attention off JKK and their very suspicious interactions. Although, while writing those lines I can't help but think to myself that Jikook's chemistry and closeness cannot be compared to TKK's. They are just not the same, no matter which what way you look at them. If you are a person with common sense and life experience (including a basic level of emotional intelligence) you can see there is clearly a difference between the two couplings.

But in any case, you and I know that is not the case. This fandom is flawed, no secret there.

And we also know that the members and company know exactly who TKKs are and what they do and are capable of.

The vile hate JM gets from them is not an unknown. The harassment of whoever shows some sort of closeness or support for Jikook is also not an unknown. Their verbally violent behavior towards anyone who does not fall in line, and that includes JKKs (I'd say that is inconsequential to the company), people that may have interacted with Tae or JK or the two (including different brands or professionals) or even total strangers that they deem relevant to their sick fantasy about JK and Tae. All known to the members and to the company.

I really don't see JK nor Tae going to the lengths of promoting TKK as a ship to hide JKK knowing what they do about the consequences of pushing this ship.

That, by all means, does not mean the two will not interact and showcase their friendship. But JK, for one, has been trying for some time now to make sure the line in the sand is clear, that it's friendship and no more. Tae does not tread as carefully as JK does.

I'll go back to my initial statement. I do think that at times Tae pushed the TKK to 'change the subject' if you may. Or as you put it, take the attention off the Jikook elephant in the room. But many a times it's just Tae being Tae. Trolling both JM and JK and Army at the same time.

I kind of think at times that Tae is an anarchist at heart, lol. Or more so an agent of chaos. He loves to throw the stones and just see where they fall. He'll do it with JM ("I think JM likes men"), he'll do it with JK (take that NJ live and him unwilling to leave all while JK is doing everything possible for him to leave other than say "get the fuck out already"), he'll do it with Jikook ("JM is hanging out with JK") and he does it constantly with army, and I'd say even more so with TKKs. And here comes into work his lack of care as to the consequences of riling them up. I kind of think he, and I'm going to be careful with my wording here, doesn't care for big parts of this fandom (cough TKKs cough), and definitley doesn't think much of them.

If Tae was doing this out of the kindness of his heart or wanting to protect Jikook as a couple or JM and JK as individuals, if that was his objective, then he wouldn't, for instance, post a Jikook photo for Hobi's birthday, for example.

One thing I want to add here.

If TKK were being used to nullify JKK why is it that JK is constantly continuously doing things to show us that Jikook are more than friends? If JK himself wants to show us they are closer, they are just MORE, why would the whole TKK ship be used to nullify that? JK sucked on JM's ear in front of 10s of thousands of fans, knowing he's also being filmed. He wanted us all to see it. JK signed "I love you" to JM at the TMA's, knowing everyone saw it. JK tattooed the J over the M on his ring finger. JK outright said "I love you" to JM for all of us to hear it during the LV tour, and so much more. They have both done so much more to showcase their relationship. They don't want to be balanced out. And even more so knowing what they know about TKKs. JK doesn't want to be thought of as Tae's boyfriend, not when he's going out of his way to show what JM is to him.

At the end of the day, I do get what you're saying, but I don't think that JK nor Tae, nor JM for that matter, are people that would play along with this kind of game.

Ships are a thing, there is no escape from that. And the members know it. I mean they themselves have thrown around ship names once in a while. They are aware of the ships, they are aware of the shippers. Tae doesn't have to go live for 3 minutes, mention JK's name and leave for TKKs to be TKKs. If you get my drift. He didn't do that to balance out some kind of Jikook interaction.

Pretty much since the Busan concert we had close to no Jikook interactions. We got a few Run BTS episodes, which were mostly filmed before the concert. They themselves, until JK's Feb lives, were in radio silence. And once they became loud it was of their own accord, they wanted to be loud. They wanted to show us stuff. They didn't want or need Tae to balance out whatever we were getting from them (and all of this happening without even seeing them in the same frame). Tae showing up in JK's Feb live and the IG TKK live, all those happened during that radio silence period. During a time where the rejoicing sounds of "Jikook are over" were ever so loud. There was no need to push TKK to balance out non existent interactions or suspicions (cause they just weren't there at that point).

What I'm saying here is that Tae is doing whatever he's doing, not to balance out JKK.

And for those that will be coming at me, I'm not saying he did it necessarily to push TKK.

I'm saying he didn't do it to balance out JKK.

His reasons are his, whatever they may be. And there could be a plethora of them: he was bored, he wanted to do the live with a friend, he feels awkward doing the live alone and doing it with JK was a good way of being in touch with army all while not having all the attention on himself, etc.

I will end by saying that they all do love each other dearly. They have over 10 years of together, and although there might be ups and downs in their relationships, they do care greatly for each other and are good friends. Said care/love/friendship is showcased in their interactions with each other. Mostly good, at times not so much (we obviously do not get to see the full picture, and the big fights or blow ups we won't be privy to too much, I mean we just discovered from JK, and still not getting the whole story, that the dumpling fight was way bigger than what we were told for years). JK and Tae are good friends. Mates. And we will be getting a lot of them in the near future, mainly because the others won't be around soon. We need to overcome our adversity to TKKs and remember that this is about TKK, their bond, their friendship, not their shippers.

Karmy know how to enjoy their interactions. We need to be able to create a disconnect between the cult and these two people. They are friends, they interact, they most likely will be supporting each other through their solo debuts. It's about them and us supporting them. Not about demented fans that don't know boundaries or lack common sense. And we also need to remember that both JK and Tae have zero control over these fans, their behavior or actions.

Let's enjoy what they give us before they leave us.

Demencia has written BlackHat x Demencia fanfic and fanart, and their imaginary kids. I headcanon she, being crazy in love and obsessed with Black Hat, also searches for fanart and fanfic of her and BlackHat on every single possible site on the internet and even the dark web.

She found a lot, but there were way more Flug x Black Hat fanart and fanfics, much to her incredible frustration.

After also finding a lot of Flug x GoldHeart fanart and fanfics, dated back before Flug joined BHO she concludes to solve this shipping issue, she decides to get Flug and GoldHeart together or at least appear to do couply stuff, everytime they interact to get people to write fanfics and draw more fanart of the couple.

I think I've finally thought of a way to put into words something I've been thinking about in conspiracy thinking.

Because there are, certainly, real conspiracies out there, but I'm more and more convinced that there is a kind of difference in mindset that characterizes what we call conspiracy thinking.

And that mindset is,

"Everyone believes the same things I do"

A completely batshit article by Rod Dreher crystalized this for me:

Anyway, we're already in the room-by-room, so let's begin the juicy part:

There's a scooby doo trap with a tapestry in the doorway having holes for eyes so a giant guard can alert the entire building if the players don't catch it. That's evil! But not unfair, which is a good balance. Naturally, there is a ballista tripwire on revisit that does some nasty damage, so this hallway is just The Troll Zone

Snurre has two pet hellhounds leashed to his throne, but also he's wearing a white dragonskin as a cloak at all times, which overcomes his natural aversion to cold with MAGIC. What an asshole! Also, as you look at that picture from the 5e cover, there's a bevy of (unimportant) changes from the original, like Snurre is no longer in his signature pitch-black platemail, but I think special mention should go to the fact that in the original he has literally 60k worth of precious stones on his person and scattered throughout the architecture of the throne room. This room should be GLEAMING.

A Gygaxism: Queen Frupy is a 'haradin', which roughly means 'scold', which. Ok. So, so much attention is given to how uggo she is (to Gary). Actually, I think the description of her armor is kinda cool, she wears black dragonskin, studded with iron (so by Runescape logic I guess she's good with a bow?). Reaper Minis did a character that sort-of resembles the description, but their Vanja has a spear where Frupy uses a scepter:

You can actually negotiate with her, the implication of the text is that she's unreasonable but…just ignore that. Lol.

She also has a magic mirror (implied to be a furniture mirror, not a hand mirror) that reveals invisible creatures in the reflection, which is kind of awesome. Good way to catch assassins! Somehow the drow are using a gifted necklace to spy on them, but I feel like the mirror probably should've revealed in some way (maybe the mirror was also a drow gift?) She's more astute than she lets on, because she has a huge stash of mind control crap in her dresser drawers for emergencies.

Keeping with the "giant leader's treasure sucks" tradition, Snurre's treasure is genuinely crazy. It occupies a FULL PAGE, and each INDIVIDUAL TRUNK has a listing and an explicit mention of the traps. Traps range from a standard scything trap to secret snakes to the treasure being invisible to contact poison. How the hell does Snurre use this room? You're telling me he never fucked up remembering which of the 13 chests were trapped in which way? Oh, also, they're pick-proof, because fuck you thief. Naturally, the loot itself is also a fucking trap, because while there is some truly amazing stuff in there (20 randomized magic items, a decent amount of valuables, a +3 ring of protection, and a ring of 3 wishes), there is also lots of troll items (statues with a stacking curse of -1 to all tests, ring of contrariness, ring of delusion). On the whole, a big fuck you to the party. Oh, and while the locks are unpickable, you can shoot them off with magic missile, which is…why?

Snurre's dwarf-slave-advisor is bizarrely well equipped and loyal, and given the opportunity to escape he will…backstab the party. As much as people complain about how early DND has too many save or die traps, I genuinely think the regularity with which rescued npcs betray the party is a waaaaaay dumber and more ridiculous trend. I simply cannot fathom why someone as smart as Obmi would choose to keep being a slave to Snurre when adventurers showed up with the ability to free him. Honestly? Take his big lie and make it true. The lie makes sense because it makes more sense than the canon character.

The scroll that finally tips at the motivation of the giants is, no kidding, scroll #68 of almost 450 paper items, none of which are mentioned. The weird need for a number baffles me.

The kitchen is doing some lateral thinking and using one of the gas vents as a gas stove, which is hilarious.

All of the former kings are entombed in a Giant Tomb, which, that is entirely too cool of a visual for them to have not included a visual. In a fucking grave mistake, this room is cut from the 4e remake, so there is no incredible art of it. There is no justice.

If you somehow didn't kill the hill giant chieftain AND you didn't get him in G2, he's here in G3. And he brought the pet bears!

You often hear people who got into ADND in the late 1e/2e era talk about how people speculated that Hommlet must lead to Temple of Elemental Evil because of hints about the Elemental Eye and, honestly it just kind of feels like Gary defaults to the Eye. It has come up in every scenario he has written so far (which admittedly is 2 so far), but with the power of Knowing What Comes Next I can assure you that this is going to keep happening. Anyway, there is a temple to the Eye here, complete with human sacrifice, and the allusion to tentacles eating people is already starting to signpost what we now know is true: It's Tharizdun. The Eye is Tharizdun. It always comes back to Cthulhus!

A lot of early players clearly enjoyed Poking Random Shit because if you decide to touch the Elemental Eye's altar and also play every musical instrument in the room, you get to make every person in the room roll on this table, AND also execute whichever player is nearest to the altar (no save). But, hey, you will suddenly get whatever you want most on the altar. If you are somehow dumb enough to do it again, there's a 1 in 12 chance you get a +1 in all stats, a 2 in 12 chance of something extremely bad happening, and a 9 in 12 chance nothing happens.

Would genuinely like to know how many GMs bothered following this instruction. It does teleport you towards the final encounter, so that's something.

An entire page is dedicated to disarming the tentacle wall magic trap, which to be honest looks like it'd repel a significant percentage of players because you either need an evil cleric or some good magic to dispel the wall, and the wall punishes the shit out of you for trying to disarm it. To be a mild devil's advocate, the tentacle wall IS super suspiciously placed (the shape of the room implies it's going somewhere), so at least it's not also super esoteric. If you DO bypass it, you are now the proud winner of the "discover the drow" award! Woah, elves but they're ontologically evil??????????????????????????????????? Truly novel! Eclavdra, head of the drow here, hangs out doing nothing in particular, and you may unceremoniously execute her if you want to bring her storyline to an unceremonious end.

The frost giants are here from last module, if they survived. They really want you to kill these kings!

After many, many drow are fought, you eventually run into a magic-fighter drow noble who has a wand of "viscid globs", which despite the suggestive name, is actually a superglue gun? You can literally rip yourself apart trying to separate yourself from a glued object. It's a really, really bizarre item. And it has a LOT of charges -- 79.

Mercifully, finally, something that could be potentially interesting: Eclavdra's rival is hanging out in the basement and can be sweetalked into helping the party screw over Eclavdra, which. FINALLY. However, if you displease her, it's demon time.

For reasons I cannot fathom, there are mind flayers here observing the drow, and the drow are not super bothered by that.

And that's basically it! at the very end they find a tube with a map and a wish leading to the D series, and a quick explainer on the then-new Drow. Well, not that quick, it's a page and a half, but the conceptualization of the drow is basically unchanged between then and now. Evil elves, forced underground, adapted to living there, dark skin, magic spidersilk clothes and adamantine weapons, sunlight sensitivity, drow spell list.

On the whole, G3 is, an adventure. While yes the Drow twist is kind of neat (but not special, since Drow are functionally Melniboneans and Elric was already decades old at this point), mostly this module lacks the fun of G1 and substitutes lots of murder traps for any genuine creativity with the scenario. On the whole, I consider it…crowd pleasingly boring? Your treasure goblins will love it for how much nice stuff they can find, if they survive.

We will end today with the back cover, which features some hippogriff mounts. People just don't give parties flying mounts anymore, it's honestly strange the tradition died. See you in the D series later. And if you're waiting for more obscure modules…I can only promise one in 1978.

I think that the problem i personally have with darker magical girl shows with violence isnt that theyre violent or grim, but that the violence and grimness doesnt match the way teens behave. if that makes sense. like. when the trolls all go stir-crazy in homestuck and start attacking each other, it feels like the logical progression of their emotional states and the stakes of the story, elevating regular teen drama and conflicts of interest to a melodramatic scale appropriate for an epic coming of age. the absurd violence of sawing a guy in half, or being a robot beating your bully until she bleeds out, are all kind of how it FEELS to be that uncontainably angry as a 13-16 year old. similarly the duels and the feats of violence in utena ALSO feel proportionate to the characters feelings and what drives them. what use is the violence in, like, granbelm (which is bad in other respects). or yuyuyu, or even myhime. like, what does it ACHIEVE. if writing violence in my own work, i have to keep in mind: does violence behave contradictory to the characters mental states, their motivations, their personalities? What am i trying to say with violent acts in mahou shoujo?

Tbf it was Omar's ex who didn't respect his privacy. All that intimate information came from him, he loved telling fans all about it, chatting with them on instagram. So it's not surprising that fans had opinions about their relationship and were worried.

There were no “to be fair” reasons. It is not fair to bully people because you don’t like their actions or their look. That’s such a strange concept to me that if someone does something I don’t like or agree with, or look in a certain way I don’t like, it would somehow justify me to have the right to bully them. It does not. It’s just the normal bully shitty way trying to justify hate logic and the right to express it. And there is a fine line between expressing “opinions” and “worries” and hate comments. This way of trying to justify “fans” shitty behavior is one thing that really upset me. As you can tell lol. And they have no way of meeting “opinions” or “worries” expressed since doing that will only spiraling things.

And the info people get on Insta is just a tiny tiny tiny tiny fraction and then they go and base a whole character judgement on that. And especially only on the comments and actions they don’t like. It’s not possible! We don’t know them or their relationships.

I bet not even your friends or relatives know the full story of your own relationship with your partner (for the ones having one). None the less people you don’t talk to but that follow you and your partner on Insta. They don’t want or need our “opinions or worries” about their relationships. It’s just offensive imo. I would be so upset if some stranger would somehow write negative opinions or worries on my relationship based on some Insta stories or hating on my spouse and giving me advice or telling me their psychological analysis of our relationship they would clearly know very little or nothing about. Or attack the looks of my partner. And especially if they would do it on my Insta or openly for everyone on X. But for celebs people think that it is somehow ok. And I assume the ones doing that would find it ok for strangers to voice their opinions and worries on their own SM and their own relationship as well (but I guess not) We are not their close friends. They are also not some characters in a tv show that we can twist and turn and openly make analysis of. I get we are curious and want the best for our favs but voicing it the way some people do is just crazy. And then ofc they have to face the full on trolling hate accounts whose whole existence is to feed on hating on people.

And in the case of Felicia, honestly, the misogyny she is facing is just so sad. It doesn’t matter what she does, some will always hate. For her, as a white women, the focus of hate becomes misogyny and her looks. It’s so predictable. And for Nurbo racism was instead prominent in some hate. Also predictable.

It’s always so crazy to me how ugly, nasty, and vicious some people can become in this fandom all while trying to push the notion that they’re the innocent ones and we’re the toxic ones. As if there’s not a mix on every side.

Getting so worked up about an anon that suggested that there may be some people who are going to be petty and try to bait Elriels during May (which is not even a stretch of the imagination as it has happened before). Also, the anon was encouraging people to not pay such trolls any mind, telling us to not waste any time or breath on it, and to just enjoy our appreciation month. Why is that so horrible? It wasn’t saying that any other ship can’t post content during the month. It was just saying there may be some toxic people being petty to bait others. Which, again, has happened before, so why is that such a wild accusation? And why are y’all getting so nasty and defensive? If you’re truly innocent then your actions will speak for themselves, you don’t need to get hateful and start spewing stuff online.

Also, the fact that a single anon message is being reacted to with such defensiveness and vitriol makes me extremely suspicious. Starting to make returned accusations of “playing the victim” and turning it around on us? Talk about gaslighting. And doesn’t exactly incline me to believe for one second that you are the kind, innocent people you are making yourselves out to be.

Making us the villains instead of addressing said possible trolls? You could’ve made posts condemning any such plans, saying you don’t think any followers or moots would do something like that, but still condemning the possibility that toxic people could be on your side of the fandom and tell them not to do stuff like that. But no, y’all are getting so worked up, claiming to know without a doubt that no one would do such a thing (again, not a stretch of the imagination since it’s happened before), and throwing around your own accusations.

Bringing up old shit like when Elriels felt threatened/doxxed. Accusing us of sending it to ourselves?
