11, 22 and 33 for the book rec asks meme ^.^
Sorry about the delay. The original questions can be located here for reference!
11. A book that handles a delicate subject with grace (essentially) Shout out to For Real by Alexis Hall for knocking it out of the park with fairly good representation of the BDSM community.
22. A book which inspired something else cool things that inspired other things? hmm good question. I'll give a shoutout to cassandra clare even though the jury's still out on her books (imo) but I'll give her props for inspiring the next generation of books like hers, namely Tracy Deonn's work. I'm looking forward to more Deonn. she took everything I liked about Clare's work and turned it up to 11, while putting the shit that annoyed me on mute so I didn't have to deal with it. Lmao 33. Diving into culture and facets of lesser known cultures: I fucking love This Way Out by Tufayel Ahmed. I want to plug this book to the moon and back because it's good. I love the perspective it gives on Islam that I feel is very rare in the average American Literature diet. Actually, I have a lot of these opinions on books that are this and that. so. feel free to 33 again. I have a more lengthy, nuanced version of this answer, but in short. yeah this.

@emspooky tagged me to post my lockscreen, my last photo, and the last song I listened to. Thank you!
Lockscreen is a background I saved in 2018, but just started using on my new phone because it matches my phone case.
The photo is of the first cardinal I’ve seen this spring.
I don’t listen to music much these days, so I’ve posted the audiobook I’m currently listening to.
Tagging (no pressure, just fun!): @cre8iveovadose, @brightbeautifulthings, @godzilla-reads, @dauen, @themelodyofspring, @a-chorus-of-storytellers, @mountainmaven, and anyone else that would like to do this

Thanks for the tag @horrorgirlreads and @cre8iveovadose !
Rules: shuffle your ’on repeat’ playlist and post the first ten tracks, then tag ten people 🎶
Wolves Without Teeth by Of Monsters and Men
Metal United by Majestica
begin again by Purity Ring
Heaven Is A Place On Earth by Belinda Carlisle
Daylight by David Kushner
Cha Cha Cha by Käärijä (which I am totally normal about, don’t check my main 💚)
Hope For The Future by Bastille
labour by Paris Paloma
Will I Find My Home by Juniper Vale and Vian Izak
Get Louis Theroux It by Tom Cardy
I find it interesting how there’s actually only one Eurovision song on this even though like half of this year’s Eurovision songs are still on that on repeat playlist. Anyway I think this is a nice overview of the kind of variety that I listen to.
And pretending I don’t know how to count to ten, I tag @petrareads @just0nemorepage @nooksofbooks @alittlebibliophiledragon @letthebookbegin @thebookwormslair (because even though I don’t really know you, you recommended me Jemsin’s Broken Earth trilogy which I ended up picking up) @agardenandlibrary @sometimesreading

4 and 8 for 2023 asks?
I presume this is for the reading ask game? I'll answer it on the main blog and reblog it to beautifulpaxielreads.
4: Do you plan to read any genres you haven’t read much before?
Probably not really, although I haven't thought about it too much. I do want to read more non-fiction though. I tend to read what interests me and don't really choose by genre, although it definitely plays a part in my choices!
8: Are there any reading challenges you want to try?
I'm definitely doing the @bookbandit TBR Buster Challenge! I also might do a couple of the challenges @books-and-cookies sets, she's good at coordinating them.
I generally tend to stick to time and number-based challenges as opposed to genre or author-based ones, as I find it difficult to organise my regular reading around them.
Thanks for the ask, @cre8iveovadose!

9, 14, 17 for end of year book asks?
9. Did you get into any new genres?
hm i don't think so,, my big "actually i read some romance now" character development is a few years old now, but i did read a bunch of Georgette Heyer books and wouldn't mind specifically getting into that kind of regency romance more! maybe a next year plan, to look up authors like goergette heyer
14. What books do you want to finish before the year is over?
I have to finish reading The Future Is Blue, which I've been in the middle of for many months! (more acceptable because it's a short story collection and I pause between stories, but still.) it's really good
17. Did any books surprise you with how good they were?
Murderbot kinda wasn't a surprise because i know everyone loves it but also it was a surprise that i loved it SO MUCH. also i felt a little wary of Iron Widow, maybe just because so much YA scifi has let me down recently, but it was just as good as promised which is REALLY GOOD

@cre8iveovadose:
write to them and say you're disappointed they've stopped doing online/hybrid events. authors have been pushing for that here in Australia and sometimes it works
That's actually a brilliant idea, thank-you for suggesting it. I might bang out an e-mail here in a little while. It just seems so silly?? That they went through all the effort of making things online accessible. Then drop it as soon as our mandates lift.
All 3 of the press tours they're doing this month are just in person events @ bookstores that will allow them. It specifically says "signing event" and "book talk event" at two different bookstores. It was interesting.

12, 24 and 36 for the bookish asks :)
Thank you!
12. a book that mentions food in the title
My brain immediately decided this must be a cozy mystery, so I’m going to plug Assault and Pepper by Leslie Budewitz, which was the very first cozy mystery I read and got me hooked!
24. a book on your nightstand
The only book physically on my nightstand and not like, metaphorically in my ebook app, is Bloom by Kevin Panetta and Savanna Ganucheau! I meant to read it this summer after finishing the newest TAZ graphic novel but got distracted before I could start, oops.
36. a book that mentions time in the title
Midnight for Charlie Bone - this is the first in a middle grade series I originally read as a kid and revisited in college, and it held up pretty good! This is usually my #1 rec for a HP substitute.
