Sometimes being human can really suck.

For example, when a droid's joints start to creak, you just give them a bit of oil and they're good as new.

When my joints start to creak, I have to make an appointment in medbay to find out if I have arthritis, if I'm calcium deficient, or if my bones are haunted.

I hope it's ghosts. At least those don't require medication and/or accepting the fact that my aging body will only continue to deteriorate as time marches cruelly onward.

But not Ben Solo. A different ghost. He can stay the hell away from my fragile kneecaps.

New Patreon Story

Leo had shaggy brown hair and bright blue eyes like giant orbs and although his jaw and chin were sharp like knives, his skin was as smooth as a baby’s bottom. He was still waiting on the five o’clock shadow that some of his friends had developed. His olive skin was glowing with a pink tint because he’d just had an amazing night out with friends; one of the first with alcohol involved. He found himself somewhere between elated and sick; his parents had gone to the beach for the weekend and he was happy he could recover alone in the house. He was dizzy and nauseous but couldn’t stop laughing, reliving the shenanigans he’d had with his friends a few hours before, but he was hot—blazing hot and sweating. He pulled off his clothes and fell on his bed, only wearing white briefs and Nike socks. That’s when he heard a strange noise coming from downstairs.

“It’s a windy night,” he thought to himself, “did I close the door? I need to go check the door. Or maybe the dog came in. Fuck, I heated up mom’s leftovers, did I leave the stove on?”

He rolled over but couldn’t make himself stand up. Then he heard the creak. The very distinct creak of the second stair on their staircase. When Leo was a boy, his parents got into a screaming match because of that stair—specifically, his dad sneaking in late at night with the scent of a woman’s perfume on him—but he remembered hearing that creak. Leo had gotten in trouble a couple of times sneaking downstairs—to grab a snack or play with the dog or maybe it was the porn he was caught watching on the family computer. He tried to block that memory out, but he knew that creak well either way.

“Did my parents come home early? No way. My mom sent me tons of stupid pictures of them posing on the beach. Maybe it was the dog.”

Then, he heard a giggle and his heart dropped. He felt a new kind of nauseous in his stomach. A shot of adrenaline helped him climb to his feet and he stammered into his closet and quietly shut the door. His white underwear was soaked with sweat.
