I'm manifesting the house we will buy.

Large windows that let it the sun's natural light and warmth.

It blankets the room; you feel it in every corner.

The walls are ivory-white. It brightens the rooms.

The kitchen is beautiful. It's open, a great medium sized space. There is an island counter in the middle, open shelving, and dark wood and blue accents throughout the space.

There are small artificial plants and flowers throughout the house. I simply so not have the capacity to water them all, so they are fake.

The curtains are sheer and lace, reminiscent of my grams curtains. They have roses woven into the lace. It is delicate. It doesn't block the light, or darken the space.

The bedrooms are safe. They feel like spaces to go and decompress.

The house is full of love and life.

I manifest it.

I’ve experienced an odd phenomena in the last several months, where when I look in the mirror, I see myself. The small girl with the smudged makeup and the chapped lips? That’s me. The blue eyed young woman with perfect hair and a flashing smile? That’s me too. The hunched, hysterical, sobbing mess, face red and pained? Still me. The goofy brunette with an outfit that doesn’t quite match, that's me! Even that shivering, wet haired, puffy-eyed,unsightly, towel-wrapped mess, that I would do anything to hide from the world, is me. I’m in the mirror at ballet, with less than perfect turnout and fogged up glasses. That girl with the stomach that isn’t as slim as it used to be, but with eyes that light up with joy upon catching a glimpse of herself in a puddle is entirely, wholly, truely, me.

I see myself everywhere I go. I’m the exhausted body slumped in front of a reflective window. The dancing fool listening to blaring music. The scrunched face, deep in concentration on neatly braided hair. The involuntary smile, the little wave you give when a young child walks by. I see myself in the ugly shirts discarded on the floor, the ill-fitting jeans worn just before laundry day, the beautiful dresses I would ever buy, but would stare at all day if I could. I see myself in the books I read, in the music I hear, in the stories I tell, in the words I write. I can feel the authenticity of my actions in my soul, and so often now I feel right, as if being myself is correct.

I don’t care if my face is red, or covered in acne. It’s mine. I don’t care if my makeup looks odd, or uneven. I did it. I don’t care if my outfit is flattering, or on trend, or even if it looks good anymore. I see the reflection of the time I spent putting it together, the effort I put into it, the thought. I don’t care if I always look good, I care if I look like me. I don’t care if I seem weird, or childish, or grave, so long as I act like myself. I am as eclectic as an antique shop, as inconsistent as spring weather, as bold as I wish to be and as strong as I have made myself.

When I look in the mirror, I know exactly who is looking back at me. I am astonished to know that when I look in the mirror, I will see a flourishing young woman who I love. How she looks all the time doesn’t matter, so long as I know who she is. I am proud of the giggling, weeping, swollen, bleeding, confusing, raging, terrible, beautiful face, of the sonderous, pondering, despairing, hoping, pleading, demanding soul, of the glaring, peering, gazing, wandering, seeing, knowing eyes that I see reflected back at me, of the person that the world has created and of the person I have made myself into, and I am glad to be her. I delight in being me, whatever that might mean today. I delight in the good and the bad, find joy in the hard and the easy, take solace in the understanding that who I am, what I might be, will forever be impermanent and imperfect, and yet it will still be me. I wish to be seen by those around me through the same eyes I see myself in, as much as I wish to see those around me through eyes of their own. I wish to know, and to be known. For now, though, I will settle for knowing I can be myself in the mirror.
