Holy shit 1 week post-mortem and ~6 months in the making, my unus annus ceramics pieces are finally finished!!!

I was not expecting the colors to be this bright or this green tbh, and now I know this glaze bleeds a bit during firing (see split coffin). But hey! My layering of colors at the base made a cool water foam effect and I’m really happy with that! I’m also estatic that my lines can be seen under the glaze!

MEMENTO MORI

Death comes to us all,

sooner or latter,

kissing goodnight with it's cold lips,

humming a soft lullaby as we slip into eternal slumber.

People are afraid of her,

repelling the mere thought of the lady's visit,

yet Death sadly smiles,

she could not blame her children.

And when the time comes for one little mortal,

when the never-ending clock cease it's ticking,

Death gratefully walks herself in

kind

patient,

reaching out a hand, proud of being their mother.

But one day in a faraway land,

where everything is nothing and nothing is everything,

Life asked Death with curiosity in his eyes,

"How can you still love them when only hate they give?"

Death let out a soft chuckle,

staring at the infinite abbys ahead,

"My dear friend, humans seek only the impossible,

the answers they can't get.

They fear the unknown, and I am the unknown itself.

They search a meaning to it all,

and for I am the meaning,

they turn away in neglect,

their own path building.

Still, I find beauty in their ignorance,

innocence in their stubbornness,

because humans create their own meaning,

and that, beloved Life, it's the so craved answer."

And when Death stopped talking,

echoes filling the void,

Life replied with newfound knowledge,

"Memento mori, that's the key of it all."

from the darkness there came white and black a year, an hourglass set to break when time ran out and darkness came again and it went like this: a year of fun of new things learnt and new things done when darkness came, white and black turned to grey so here we all sit around the campfire and sing the songs of a year gone by there was one year left, then months, then weeks then days, when we all learnt to fear the sands of time were quietly slipping by white and black took us by the hand and led us 'til the very end in the morning when the dawn broke, things were grey so here we all sit around the campfire and tell the tales of a year gone by and now they're gone but we persist in a world where only dusk exists but who says we can't paint the dark skies blue they may be gone but we exist and we can make the most of this just like they showed us how in their one year so here we all sit around the campfire and share the stories of a year gone by for now we're mourning but soon, we'll see though time is ticking, and death will come the clouds are parting the sun will shine unus annus memento mori
