Creepypasta Pokémon League AU — Sally Williams
914 words. warnings: mentions of child abuse and neglect. read with caution!
The youngest member of the Pokémon League, Sally made history when she was selected to be trained as a gym leader at only 8 years old. Now 9 years old, Sally has settled in as the first gym leader challengers will face in Moonstone City, and has turned her ghost-type gym into the grandest ballroom anyone could hope to attend a tea party in.
Challengers must show up in their finest garb, or they will be turned away at the door and will have to return during the next weekend’s celebration. However, those who Sally deems fit to attend her tea party must challenge three other partygoers and win in exchange for essential tips regarding tea party etiquette. Only when the challenger sits across from her at her table and displays proper tea party etiquette will Sally agree to battle them. If they win, they will leave with the Haunt Badge and the title of “Esteemed Guest.”
- You are challenged by Gym Leader Sally! -
Gym Challenge:
Greavard (lv. 12): This friendly Pokémon doesn't like being alone. Pay it even the slightest bit of attention, and it will follow you forever. -Pokémon Violet
Sinistea (lv. 14): The swirl pattern in this Pokémon's body is its weakness. If it gets stirred, the swirl loses its shape, and Sinistea gets dizzy. -Pokémon Sword
Post-Game Rematch:
Gourgeist (lv. 62): Singing in eerie voices, they wander town streets on the night of the new moon. Anyone who hears their song is cursed. -Pokémon X
Banette (lv. 63): A doll that became a Pokémon over its grudge from being junked. It seeks the child that disowned it. -Pokémon Platinum
Houndstone (lv. 63): Houndstone spends most of its time sleeping in graveyards. Among all the dog Pokémon, this one is most loyal to its master. -Pokémon Scarlet
Mimikyu (lv. 64): A lonely Pokémon, it conceals its terrifying appearance beneath an old rag so it can get closer to people and other Pokémon. -Pokémon Moon
Polteageist (lv. 64): These Pokémon multiply by creeping into teapots and pouring themselves into leftover tea. -Pokémon Violet
Zoroark [Hisuian] (lv. 66): With its disheveled white fur, it looks like an embodiment of death. Heedless of its own safety, Zoroark attacks its nemeses with a bitter energy so intense, it lacerates Zoroark's own body. -Pokémon Legends: Arceus
Background:
Ever since she was a baby, Sally had a gift for befriending ghost-type pokémon. Convinced she was cursed, her mother began to neglect her and turned a blind eye to any mistreatment other family members would subject her daughter to. Sally’s father exploited her gift by forcing his young daughter to try and train unruly ghost-types who refused to listen to their trainers. This often led to Sally being attacked and injured, which was shrugged off by her father who told her it was part of the training process.
After a certain Elite Four member stumbled upon the training center and beat the shit out of her father, Sally was removed from her family’s custody and taken in as a ward of the Pokémon League, since no blood relatives wanted to take in such a cursed child.
Careful tutelage combined with the proper love and attention a child needs caused Sally to flourish once she was taken in by the League. By the time she was 8, she was able to win the tournament meant to find a replacement for the first gym-leader who had recently retired.
Trivia:
As the youngest member of the Pokémon League, Sally is beloved by pretty much every other member of the League, and is fairly close with everyone. However, she is closest with Nina, Jane, EJ, and all of the Elite Four.
Her gym is only open on the weekends, since she’s at school during the week.
Hardly any challengers ever make it to the Elite Four, so all of the Elite Four members visit her gym frequently, and are more likely to be spotted taking her to and from school than they are to be spotted at League HQ.
Prior to defeating her in battle during the gym challenge, Sally will refer to the trainer player as “Newcomer [Trainer Name]”. After being defeated, she will refer to them as “Esteemed Guest”.
Sally’s first pokémon was Zorua, who she befriended when she was 3. Zorua evolved into Zoroark out of necessity when Sally was 6 in order to keep the girl safe from her family members.
I had the Hisuian Snow animated shorts in mind when picking Hisuian Zoroark for Sally. Whether Unovan or Hisuian, Zoroark is always depicted as being fiercely protective of its young, and I can see Sally filling in that role. Since it’s always looking out for her and keeping her safe, Sally has a particularly strong bond with Zoroark, making it her strongest team member and her signature pokémon.
Sally doesn’t have a desire to move out of the lower half of the gym leaders, and this won’t change as she gets older. Though she sees a lot more challengers than those in higher positions do, she enjoys battling and giving them a good first impression of the League.
Thanks to a certain League member’s sister, Sally is introduced to the world of acting when she’s 12, and grows up to become a renowned actress outside of her role as a gym leader.

Glitchy Submas!!
You finally reach round 21 on the multi train. But there's a problem.
You've been repeatedly battling them separately on the single and doubles trains, over and over and over again... for weeks? Months? ... Or perhaps even a YEAR before you went for the multi train again...?
You begin to get strange messages every time you battle them and defeat them. They're incredibly upset. You made them separate for that long? Well, you hadn't realized their AI was sentient, now did you?
No, that couldn't be it, your game is broken. They aren't.... vengeful spirits inside the game or anything. What is this -- a Creepypasta?

I unwittingly figured out the burst of energy necessary for this!
A more elaborate take on the idea I presented here, essentially. Quite proud of how it turned out! ^v^
(Hikkiko AU belongs to @mikkokomori - and apologies for not doing it much earlier)
Under the cut, elaborations on how the KOSATSU gang are interacting with their respective pals - for funsies!
Red: Talking about one of his many battles - as in, squabbles - he had with his rival, Blue. Pikachu is not amused, because Red is wording it in a way that makes it sound a billion times cooler than how it actually went down.
Alexis: Happy with making a new friend! Especially, one that can do cool tricks! Hypno is a little slower to build trust, but as long as Alexis isn't terribly upset, he's cool.
Leaf: Is glad that Eevee is enjoying the lil' sliced Oran Berry! She thinks it's a sign he'll grow to trust other people as well.
Gold: Is on a team effort with Cyndaquil to explain he's alright in spite of the bandages perpetually on his elbows and knees - he just tends to be a little scrappy.
Mike: More than glad to explain Ignis Fatuus stuff! Squirtle, meanwhile, is glad to give support to a fellow introvert.
Kosatsu: He and Miki don't trust Hikkiko at all to give pats in the head of the latter. Actually, scrap half of that - Kosatsu doesn't trust Hikkiko, point.
