-toby rogers was an ambitious boy. he was desperate for destiny, something where he could prove he was more than just a farmers boy.

-he grew up in the big city, being raised by his strict military father, and passive mother.

-the boy found no purpose in being beat into shape, educated only for war. and when his older sister died at sea, toby gritted his teeth and ran away from home.

-he was seventeen years old when he found his future slipping through the cracks of his fingers, and he was seventeen years old when he clenched those fingers into fists, and made the choice to fight. no matter what it took, he knew he only had himself.

-toby talked his way into working on a family farm bordering the outskirts of the city of lathons. and he attempted to talk his way into studying under the wing of former sophic, teacher of philosophy and divine, tim wright, who promptly and repeatedly shut down the boys ambitions.

-but toby wanted more, he needed more. he couldn't slow down; like a dog bound by a leash he needed command, honour, glory. he wanted the sun in between his canine teeth, and the boy recklessly chased it with pride on his shoulder.

-the fire within him led him right back to the doorstep of the quiet study owned by the older man he knew to be well renowned in his youth for his works on the gods and divinity. that is, until one day, tim fell into recluse, only talking to his former-gladiator companion, brian thomas.

-"how did you find this place?"

-"i talked with an old friend of yours, but we got into a bit of a tussle, its not important. i need you to teach me everything you know, please, i wont rest until you do," the boy pleaded to the man.

-"you got into a 'tussle'?"

-"he talked down to me as if i was a stupid kid, but im not. i want to do what you've done, all that you've achieved. tim, i want to know the world, and i want to fight in it."

-"come inside, you can't run your mouth like that on the streets kid."

-for two long years the boy spent every restless hour working hard on the farm, alongside his coworker, kate, and studying alongside his mentor, tim.

-and toby would spend those two years pushing the limits of everyone around him, ignoring the wax dripping off his back as he fought mercilessly for a taste of the sun.
