OKAY I HAVE THOUGHTS (i've connected the dots but i haven't connected shit)

so we know that peter ransom is the name that nureyev takes with mag during the guardian angel case. we also know that nureyev says he doesn't re-use aliases or ruses (because he wouldn't have done the married couple spiel with juno again if it weren't for buddy having made the plan). HOWEVER, when he joins the aurinko crime family, he choses ransom as his fake moniker. for the second time.

so i was thinking. why would he do that? ransom is the one name that can actually be traced back to his real name, since it was used in a job before, and especially since it was the job before he had decided to go all anon.

(the very fact that the name is traceable is evidenced by the way rita was able to find out his real name)

so — why re-use ransom?

there is no reason for it. in fact, as evidenced by rita's discovery, it is a weak point to his armour of mysteriousness. it links him back to mag, even back to slip. so... why? it isn't as a show of good faith, because he was upset when rita uncovered the truth. he clearly wasn't trying to "bury the lead" as a fun puzzle for the others to solve. SO WHY?

is it a message for juno? is it a clue about where he has run off to, a way for his family to find and rescue him?

or is he just a piece of shit who is being Cruel On Purpose and will break everyone's hearts in the end?

Python is making me want to pull my hair out. Sometimes frustrating to the verge of tears.
