Ready to learn about one of Peter Parkers rarest seen girlfriends? She's got 5 total appearances and that up there is how we first see her. It's Marvel Team-Up #80 and we meet her after she and Pete have gone to Shakespeare in the park...
Tumblr media
...THEN SHE GET'S ATTACKED BY A WEREWOLF!
Tumblr media
And that werewolf is Dr Strange! Doc almost killed her so she's in the hospital. Pete gives her a kiss before leaving while she's barely conscious! It's a weird thing to do!
Tumblr media
But hey next time we see Cissy they're fully making out so no harm no foul. She says "Roseanne Eposito said I was a fool to date you, Peter" which is fun because Roseanne has had 0 other mentions in any Marvel comic.
Tumblr media
Then they get attacked by evil Russians! It's the Crimson Dynamo! Also, Darkstar and Vanguard have kidnapped her father?!
Tumblr media
Pete has to act like he's been defeated to hide his secret identity. Pretty rough thing to do instead of saving two people.
Tumblr media
Apparently her dad is a super scientist and they need him to build an anti-matter bomb. The Hulk shows up (this is Marvel Team-Up after all) and Cissy's dad gets shot. Sorry Cissy!
Tumblr media
Next time we see Cissy it's the Empire State University Technology fair! The Beast is there getting all the ladies.
Tumblr media
Even Cissy wants a piece of Hank McCoy!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Killer Shrike and Modular Man (in his 2nd and final appearance) attack the fair!
Tumblr media
They get away with some gizmo but that's not important. Here's Cissy's final on panel appearance. She scored part of Beast's torn shirt, says she had a lot of fun, but crucially doesn't invite Pete in for more make-outs. Sorry Pete! At least she didn't get killed!
Tumblr media
So that's the last time we see Cissy, but 36 years later @ryannorth wrote her as Pete's inevitably cancelled Valentine's date.
Tumblr media
Thanks Ryan!

Now that we're on the subject of 60s music: is the Captain Marvel mentioned in "The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill" the DC one or the Marvel one?
youtube
Ahahah. Well, it's true that Paul is a massive Marvel comics fan and has made songs about it.
youtube
Unfortunately Bungalow Bill was written and sung by John Lennon.¹
Like most songs on the White Album it was written during the Beatles' trip to the ashram of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in India. Lennon arrived in India on February 15, 1968, seven days after the release of Captain Marvel #1 (by Roy Thomas and Gene Colan). Even if we assume he tweaked the lyrics between coming back from it (on April 12, 1968) and recording the song (on October 8, 1968), leaving him the time to hypothetically read Captain Marvel #4-8 (from May 9, 1968 to September 17, 1968)... one fail to see the link between a story about an alien spy infiltrating NASA and John's diss track about a tiger hunter.
"So Captain Marvel zapped him right between the eyes" is about said tiger hunter (Bungalow Bill) shooting a tiger who attacked him and his pack of elephants. The moral of the song is that he's a mental child masquerading as an adult man (He went out tiger hunting with his elephant and gun / In case of accidents / He always took his mum / He's the all American, bullet-headed / Saxon mother's son / All the children sing). It's referring to Billy Batson.
youtube
This, however, I have no idea. It does sound space-y at times.
¹: with Yoko Ono as co-lead vocals, the only Beatles song to have a non-member in this role

The Union of Soviet Super Soldiers (USSS):
It's 1976 or 1977. At least 12 years since the avengers were founded in the US. The Soviet Union is desperate to create their own superhero team to rival the avengers. They've tried to create figures like the Red Guardian, or the Crimson Dynamo or Titanium Man before, but it always fails. But perhaps it's because they never assembled a proper team? That's the logic that leads to the creation of the Union of Soviet Super Soldiers (Or USSS for short) in 1976 or 1977.
Founded in July 1976, the original team consists of:
Red Guardian III (Vladimir Ivanov): I already have a whole note on him. But he's the team leader, and one of the members of the team most devoted to Communism.
Vanguard (Nikolai Krylenko): He's a real comics character. I'm pretty sure you can find info on him through a Marvel Wiki or through Google (that's how I learned of him).
The Winter Witch (Katerina Obolensky): Abandoned as a child in the snowy mountains of Siberia, Katerina Obolensky learned to be one with the ice and snow. Nobody is sure if she's a mutant or some kind of demigod, but she is definitely powerful. Capable of controlling the ice, snow and winds at a single thought. She can generate winds, blizzards, avalanches, etc. When in her natural element she is a god amongst men. But when she's far separated from any form of cold, she becomes weak and frail.
The Gift-Bringer (Adrian Abel): Adrian Abel is a mutant. Born with the uncanny ability to control poison and even generate it (they can turn their whole body into poison dust or into liquid poison, for instance), they were considered a threat to others and sent off to an elite mutant training facility in Russia. There, they learned how to control their powers and make themselves less dangerous to others. Worst comes to worst, they were at least given a containment suit to prevent them from accidentally killing anyone with their poison.
Considering how powerful they are, it's only natural Adrian was recruited to the USSS. They're both powerful and extremely volatile, however. So they possibly be the most dangerous person on the team. So they require extreme protective measures to ensure they don't accidentally poison the people they're trying to help.
PS: Adrian is the only character not originally from the USSR. They're East German. I realized the German word for poison is gift due to google translate, and so I couldn't resist this bit of humour.
Crimson Dynamo (Dmitri Bukharin): Same as Vanguard. The Crimson Dynamo (including this version of him) is a real comics character who can find out more about through Google or a Marvel Wiki or something.
If you're wondering where in the timeline of comics this is supposed to be, it's shortly after Darkstar defects to the US to join The Champions. And she will join this team eventually, if someone (either me or literally anyone else) takes this idea past the concept stage.

Wizard casts Iron Man in the late 1990s, the first page is a bit hard to read so here are the names:
Timothy Dalton as Iron Man - good choice
Carl Weathers as James Rhodes - good choice
Angie Everhart as Bethany Cabe - no opinion
Nikita Koloff as Crimson Dynamo - no opinion
Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa as the Mandarin - good choice
Andrew Bryniarski as Titanium Man - no opinion
Other than that, Lee and Haris would have been great villains

Uhm...could they not find just one more communist bad ass? The Slasher? Really? And instead of using the existing Iron Man villain Slasher who only appeared twice and had a weird look that would have stood out alongside the other three villains, they just gave someone else the same name and a similar power set...and stole Porcupine’s suit and recolored it. Not really, but that’s what it looks kinda like.
