I recently updated my retro Sonic pattern 2013 design. Crochet written instructions and the step by step photos are all in one pdf file. I have also updated it to my current terminology and better formatting.
I can’t believe they’re done, and I made them! I bought this crochet pattern by Crafty Intentions on Etsy a year ago because I stumbled across it and wanted my own wing shawl so badly!
Only one problem: I didn’t know how to crochet.
And so the PDF sat in my inbox for an entire year.
Then, earlier this summer I finally got around to teaching myself the basics of crochet and how to read a pattern.
This is my second crochet project following a pattern 😬 - that’s what hyper focus and a dream will do for you!
I used a wool and acrylic blend, worsted weight yarn in three different shades of brown.
This pattern was fantastic. Each feather felt like an accomplishment, and everything was so well explained, it came together just naturally. All in I think it took around 50 hours over 3 weeks.
The wings are over 6’ long! And the bottom two rows of feathers are bordered with single crochet in the color of the row above it. I didn’t border the top row.
I love how they came out, it’s wonderfully heavy and I feel like some sort of great owl witch in it which is a vibe I can get behind.
Also many thanks to my 5yo for the photoshoot and taking these great pictures of mama! ❤️
Heyy! It's been a while! How my little dragons are doing? I am doing great, even through many ups and downs, I am slowly getting where I want! hehe🤭 So, let's get back to our amigurumi, shall we?🥰
Starting with this lovely tiara inspired by the already Pixar classic "Ratatouille"! The official version has been trending on the web lately, and I loved how this turned out!🤩 This was commissioned by one of my childhood friends, who wanted to gift her cosplayer friend! She wears all sorts of cute clothes and acessories, so this suited her perfectly! 💕💕
So these tiny Cthulhu were among the things I took to Dragon Con for swag and seek this year. They are fun and easy to make but they weren't as popular as other things I brought.
I had some decent light, so I was able to get these loaded and tagged this morning, so I am happy to present my lesson/experiment/exploration in colorwork: John.
Four colors, but I love the layers all those different shades add to the design elements of this doily. I think our resident genius would appreciate that I used this as a learning opportunity, always pushing his mind into so many fields our John.
The colors here overlap slightly with Nutty's @gumnut-logic's palette challenge, but not perfectly. I went with shades that remind me of John's uniform, his hair, the silver for the metallic of Five. In the end, I think it gave me John and a bit of TB5, both, which I am 100% okay with. I've always seen them both as so colorful. The holograms, the pathway lines around her gravity ring. Speaking of rings, I adore the block of that blue-green around the middle.
Pattern: Ember by Grace Fearon
Yarn: I used scrap thread, most of which is Hobbii Rainbow Lace or Aunt Lydia's, all size 10 thread. Here are recommendations for something close to this:
Hobbii Rainbow Lace in 031 "Blue", 035 "Petrol Blue", 057 "Orange
Aunt Lydia's: Dark Royal, Peacock, Pumpkin
For the shimmer, Aunt Lydia's Silver Shimmer. (Who had the grand idea to try to do color specific designs while also trying to do a no buy, honestly!)
Hook size: 1.5 mm
Finished Size: 14 inches
